[Q] un-deletable 0kb files HELP ! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings from sunny ??? nottingham
I have a folder with a bunch of files that all show as 0kb that i can not remove.
Does anybody have an idea how i can get rid of these?
The story so far....
I am/was on rocket rom v2, previously i had put the google currents app on, but that was a couple of roms ago and i have not put it back.
I started having a few odd problems and realized my int sd was full. i eventually narrowed it down to a google currents folder. this was not so easy as any app that tried to scan the int sd in any way would crash or freeze. Even in manage apps it would only show details of apps from a to c any after that hung on 'computing'. i managed to delete over 5 gb from that folder, all except one folder.
Now i am left with a folder on the int sd inside the android/data folder called 'com.google.android.apps.currents' inside that is a folder 'cache' inside that a folder 'blobs.120.1184434912' inside that a folder thats a bunch of letters and numbers, inside that a folder 'att' and finally inside that a bunch of files all with single letters, numbers or symbols as there filename and all 0kb in size.
These remaining files and folders i can not get rid of.
I have tried....
Delete with root explorer and a couple of other file apps crash's or locks
Cut and paste elsewhere fail
Connect to computer and...
Delete fail
Move fail
Erase fail
Unlock freezes pc
Change permissions blocked
Re-name fail
Scanned with virus and spyware progs clean
Delete with dos fail
Factory reset fail
Factory reset with format usb crash's or locks
Flash a pit file in pc odin Still there
I wouldnt mind just leaving them there, but as i say any app that in any way scans the int sd crash's or freezes this makes the note almost un-useable.
I'm sure I've missed a few things i have tried but you get the point.
I have searched xda and the web as best i can and tried pretty much every idea I've come across.
Help !!!
Please !

What an odd problem....

have you tried aroma file manager?

Thanx p107r0
I havent tried that particular file manager, many others though.
Downloading it now, very busy next couple of days so will give it a go as soon as i can.

Cant you try copying all your important information off the sd then formatting it?

Thanx Postmonkeh
Unfortunatly i have formatted it several times now and those files still remain.

Are you familiar with adb tools? You could try using adb to delete the files.

Hi Postmonkeh
Unfortunatly abd is over my head, i wouldnt have a clue what i was doing.
Maybe i need to do some learning Do you know if theres a basic tutorial anywhere ?

It's fairly simple once you get the hang of it, but i don't know any guides off the top of my head.
Not on my laptop at the minute but once I'm downstairs I'll give you a quick run through of what to do to delete that folder. Might not work, but then again it might

Hey mate thank you very much.
Please dont rush as i am just leaving and will be away for a couple of days. I will get onto it as soon as i return.

it won't let you rename or delete because they reside on googles servers, that's why they are showing 0kb. u can't change permission because it's on sd card and w don't have the ability to do so on sd card. i promise a format got rid of them but u didn't notice it because google cache server put links back as your phone started. the explorer crashes because as fast as is trying to remove them the server is already putting them back. basically what im trying to say is just ignore them cause there not really there anyways.

as above, these files seem to be causing problems.
my google currents folder has a lot of these folders, but none of the files are empty.
although having said that, it may be an idea to deselect the option to have google back up your app data.
i'd also maybe try installing the currents app then (if you can) go into the app settings and clear the data.

that thread gives a good guide to getting adb installed, and gives a good grounding of what it can do. it's a bit more in depth than what you need though, all you need is to install it, add the path to the environment vaiables as described in that thread (that is an optional step but it makes things much easier)
the path you'll be looking for is /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.currents
be sure to remember that the case of the letters in the linux (and therefore android) file systems is vital - ie mnt/sdcard/Android is an entirely different folder than mnt/sdcard/android.
so basically once you've your note connected (with the screen unlocked) open a command line and type (minus the quotes) "adb devices"
it should (hopefully) list your note in there.
then type these commands in order, being careful to observe the correct case when typing filenames or folder names.
adb shell
rm -r /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.currents
it could take a while if there are a lot of files. once it's finished, you should be back to a line with a flashing cursor, then just type exit and it should take you back to your standard windows command line.
i would try taking off the "back up my settings to googles servers) and installing currents and wiping the data first though.

OK time for an update.....
Aroma file manager same as all the others, it either freezes or crash's out altogether.
I have already deselected back up to google, no effect.
I have already tried re-loading google currents and populating it with fresh downloads. Then clear data and un-install, no effect.
Finally took me a while to get adb set up and working, but............
wait for it............................................................................
No effect !!
It starts the process, and scrolls info very fast. I left it for about 20 mins and it was still going. eventually i clicked on the window and it said something along the lines of no such file or directory then endlessly scrolls att.
I appreciate the suggestions given, but i do hope there are some more.
I am completely lost with this now.

Seems kind of similar to problems I used to have in the good old Palm OS days, sometimes due to some app errors 0b files would appear on SD card, and - to make long story short - the only thing that would help was taking the card out and formatting it on the computer.
Maybe flashing with repartitioning could help?

If you cannot delete the folder with del or erase command in dos I think you have a bad block there. In this case you have to leave this folder alone.

Hi, thanx for the further suggestions
tknguyencsu leaving alone is not a good idea as it does affect how the note works. Anything that scans the int sd freezes or crash's out when it gets to that folder. for instance if i go to manage applications it will only give me detailed info on apps from A to C any after that it wont display the size of data etc, just stays on 'computing'. so i really need to get rid of this folder.
p107r0 Any idea how i try your suggestion of 'flashing with repartitioning' ?
I have done several full wipes inc usb storage, i have formatted usb storage from recovery several times also.
There are a couple of options in recovery i have not tried because i dont know what they really mean and so im a little scared to try with all the bricking thats been going on.

Lots of reading to be safe, but afair there is Dr ketan's guide on flashing LBF with repartitioning, which should be theoretically safe when performed from/over GB ROM. I'll look for the link later.
Here.
P.S. There's also app by chainfire which checks if your device is prone to superbrick: Got Brickbug

Thanx p107r0 i've had a quick look/search in that thread. Not much detail about re-partitioning, i am now assuming it is connected with pit file ?
If that is correct then i have tried that and unfortunatly it did not help.
I am out of my depth here, so if i have misunderstood please forgive me, and enlighten me.

Are you still on the same ROM? Maybe formatting int sd from other one would do the trick?

Hi p107r0
Yes i am on the same rom, but now a later version.
I am using Rocket Rom. the problem first came to light after upgrading from v1 to v2. since then i have been back to GB to RR v1, RR v2 and am now on RR v3.
I am out of time tonight, and on the road all day tomorrow, so will try a completely different rom as soon as i can.

What program are you using to find it? You need something like root explorer which is a file system available on the market which gives you access to files you can not see with my files. It us not free but is very useful.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
i am not using any program. i am just connecting my phone to the computer and going into the command prompt...and then it tells me to pull settings.db i can't find it anywhere.
Do you have your phone rooted?
yes i do justmde
To use that command you need adb google it and will tell you how to install. Or you can use super manger from the market its free to get to the file. Be careful if you don't know what your doing you. I would read up om odin. One click and make sure you have the bottom combos just in case.
I am not too familiar with the command approach, but if you have root explorer you can navigate to your dbdata, darabases, com.android.providers.settings. Inside there us the file you are looking for. You can copy and paste it to you're internal sd. Then hook up to your computer and transfer the file to your pc. I believe you have to open some table and change a zero to a one. Save then drag back into your phone. Copy, paste back into the original directory where you found it. Over write, reboot.
Or you may consider a custom rom, all have this enabled, and have additional perks. Just saying, it is only a matter of time.

the main point that i wanna do..is i wanna go back to 2.1 and just save all of my apps and the progress in my apps. can somebody please message me or AIM me and walk me through???
I am completely new to this too man. I just rooted and enabled sideloading in about 10 minutes without even connecting my phone to a comp.
I'm not sure if it will work without installing the unleashthebeast thing, but to enable sideloading i just downloaded android terminal emulator from the market, opened it, typed in su, hit enter, then typed "sideloading". phone rebooted and now i can sideload.

[Q] ClockPackage on di11igaf's

Issue 1: I'm trying to install ClockPackage.apk, Gallery3D.apk, MyFiles.apk in order to have the stock clock. I keep getting the error "Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]" when i try to use the command adb install (any of the 3).apk. I have also tried "adb push" which doesn't seem like a valid command. I tried moving the 3 apk files to my sd card on the phone and using "installer" and "eoeAppinstaller" from the market and these fail as well. Any more suggestions? I really like this di11igaf's ROM, but I cannot stand the new alarm ( i like the gradual volume increase of the stock). I have tried a couple of market clocks, but they just didn't work for me. Thank you very much in advance.
Issue 2: If I use CWM and choose Reboot into Recovery i get the following:
Android system recovery <3e>
Samsung Recovery Utils
- for BML -
Enter OK Key, Select : Vol UP / Vol Down
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
format internal sd card

At this point I can use the volume buttons to scroll up and down, but the power button will not select anything. The only thing I can do is remove the battery and boot the phone back up, which then takes me into CWM recovery v2.5.1.0. I was able to install the di11i add on, but I don't think that I'm supposed to be pulling the battery to get to this point.
Thanks again and sorry about the long post.
Im no expert on this type of stuff but I use di11i roms and I just transfer apk's to the root of the phone through the regular mass storage mode and use root explorer for the rest.Havent had any problems yet.
As for issue 2 is the package a .zip file? If not that may or may not be the problem.
From my own personal experience the 3dapp isn't sign so I can't install it too
System apps are best copied manually into the /system/app folder using app like root explorer. Make sure the folder is in r/w mode.

+1 you can simply use root explorer to copy the apk files into \system\app folder. quick and easy.

It is a zip file and it installed. What concerned me was the process. Should it have frozen up like that and forced a battery pull? Nothing I've read leads me to believe that was proper behavior of the CWM.

I don't have that directory. Are you creating it on the phone and then putting the files into it? I may have not been clear on what I am trying to do. I am trying to do what was posted in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11207089&highlight=clockpackage#post11207089 posts #2515
I just looked into exactly what you were talking about and I got it figured out.It wasnt installing for me either but this is what I did and it works now.
Through mass storage mode I copied the 3 files to the root of the card.
Then I moved the files to the app folder which is inside the system folder.
I use root explorer for the moving.
When you move them into the app folder its gonna ask to overwrite say yes.
After you get everything moved it will work if you go to the app in the drawer.I never actually installed anything but did an overwrite.

u cannot see it in my files. u need to have root access, and something like root explorer.
So it looks like I could have just copied and pasted the files from the sdcard/Clock folder I placed them in to the /system/app folder using Super Manager. I swear I tried that and it failed before I went through all the crappy steps below. Oh well.
Ok this is going to sound pretty cheap, but I didn't want to pay the ~$4.02 for an ap that I was going to use three times. I did find another way. I used Super Manager and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877316&highlight=installing+apk post #3.
So for any other cheapskates out there.
1. Install Super Manager on phone
2. Install ADB on pc
3. Connect phone to pc and copy the three files ClockPackage.apk, Gallery3D.apk, and MyFiles.apk to the sd card. (I just drag and dropped in windows explorer)
4. Use Super Manager to move to /system/app/ and rename the existing file Gallery3D.apk (I renamed it to Gallery3D.old)
5. Use adb to copy the 3 files from the directory in which you originally placed them on the phone to /system/app/
in adb type:
adb shell
su
(accept the prompt on your screen)
cd /sdcard/whereveryoustuckfile
cp blahblahblah.apk /system/app/ (the red from Pirateghost).
6. Reboot
The clock and alarm work fine, but I cannot get Daily briefing option in alarm to work. I get a FC. I did install the "apk add on pack for 5.6" post 3 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897416 , but I dont think Daily Briefing was included in that. Any suggestions? And one last thing - what is the di11iBrowserfix.zip from post 3 of the thread above for? Thanks again to all who contributed.
I got the daily briefing working. Everything is almost perfect, but I would like two things still.
1. Is there anyway to change the tune that is played when you have smart alarm selected? I have a different tone selected, but I think once you select smart alarm it defaults to that new age tone.
2. My alarm goes off, I stop it, but then I have to unlock it before I see the daily briefing. Can anyone think of a way to have the phone unlock when I turn off the alarm. I know it is so insignificant, but it used to do that when it was stock and it was pretty cool.
Come one guys and gals - don't make me figure this one out by myself j/k but seriously I have surprised myself already by getting this far and I really don't have skill or knowledge for the last two things. I'm learning though....slowly.
Thread etiquette
Did I do something wrong here? I got some really quick responses to my questions before, but nothing on my latest. I ask this next question with all seriousness - should I have started a new thread since it's kind of a new topic? No worries either way, I just want to post in the the most effective way. Thanks. BTW, my phone is working great. I'm getting ready to install 6.0 GPS is a little screwy - often has me west of my location by about 30 meters by I attribute that to the phones hardware. Other than that I have no complaints (except for the lame smart alarm tune)

Diablo, I know this totally off topic and I´m sorry, but I´ve just seen your signature and noticed you run di11igaf´s 6.0 on Glitterballs and as I´m not able to post on development yet, here´s my question:
Will I have too much trouble on flashing another kernel over the di11picKle? I was happy with speedmod + jk4... that was the best working config for me so far...
Just keep in mind I´m a noob

Nope. Get the CWM flashable zip, and copy to ur sdcard. Then go to CWM recovery console, and install this zip. Reboot.
But, please take a nandroid backup, and try to avoid OC kernels if u r unsure ur phone can handle it. Phones freeze when tried to oc beyond their capability.

How to restore deleted (stock) System Apps?

Let me apologize first of all as I come from 5 years of using Windows Mobile knwoing what I am doing (cooking ROMs included) and now just got my Galaxy /Android a couple weeks ago and am blank at all of it.
After messing up with some system files and (useless) stock applications (like I removed stk.apk and other stuff) I decided to do a full hardware reset as the phone started getting random crashes.
But after the full reset things only got dramatically worse. I quickly realized all the missing system apps are still missing (I thought they'd be "restored") and basically nothing works, just crashes one after the next, cant use anything.
So, a hardware system reset on the galaxy, doesnt really reset anything except user installed apps and settings... amazing
Can someone please tell me (the idiot here, I know) how to do a real full restore where all system files, all missing files and positively everything gets back in the Tab as it was originally?
What a flippin' nightmare... Thanks in advance very much!
deletion of Stk.apk causes FC's in phone and acore.
if you don't have a backup of this apk, download a rom (like Modaco or Overcome),
open with winzip and extract the Stk.zpk from system/app and push it to /system/app on your Tab using adb (remember set the permissions to 644 after push).
A hardreset NO restores deletions on /system
Note: Other files that are not deleteable in /system/app are: Browser.apk, Email.apk, TouchWiz30Launcher.apk and TwWallpaperChooser.apk
Note (2): For your convenience, i attach the Stk.apk file from Overcome-1.1.3. Try it
Note (3): In order to restore ALL system data and apps, you need to restore a full rom.

OK, first of all a big thanks for both file and info. Aside from the Stk.apk, the biggest thing that made me run into problems was trying to update my Contacts.apk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907399
things didnt work out for me and even after restoring the original files (Contacts.apk and Contacts.odex) nothing really worked again, reason for wich I tried a system reset.
Now, do I need to re-root the Tab or its still rooted, and can I perform the operations easily with Root Explorer like I did before? You mentioned to use adb and set permissions to 644 after push but, sorry again for the ignorance, I have no clue what adb is nor what/how to set permissions. Pathetic to be ignorant huh?
My last 2 questions are, where could I find the original Contacts.apk and Contacts.odex and if needed a full ROM to do a total restore?... hopefully I wont need to get to that point?...
Thanks a million again.
hi,
try to download overcome-1.1.3, and extract all the deleted apk's from system/app directory. push into the /system/app in your tab.
the apk's of overcome are deodexed (you don't need the .odex files). after that, wipe your data/cache and reboot.
if this don't works, try with roto rom

Hmmmm thanks again but I think Im beyond all this. I dont have a file manager on my system, just realized I deleted the useless stock one and had repalced it with Root Explorer and ES File Explorer. I have them on my External SD Card to install them again but withou a file manager or an app installer cant get to them. And I tried download an app installer from the Market and get Framework errors non-stop and downloads do not initialize... I think Im beyond a quick fix... how do I get my hands on a stock full ROM to restore everything... and how? What a nightmare... gotta tell you, I love Windows Mobile... I love it... never ran into anything like this in the past 5 years of using it... never...
Thanks again!

Cant. Dont even know if I need Kies installed or not (I did have it installed) but adb just asks me to connect the phone and thats it... its connected aready... this is desperating...
OK I did manage to connect with adb but, how to I install applications? I can navigate to my SD card where I have ES File Explorer and Root Explorer but dont seem to be able to install them... Also if i try to copy Stk.apk I get immediately an failute message... this is crazy...
OK so I managed to install ES File Explorer and Root Explorer with adb... crazy process. It seems my phone is still rooted after the reset. From the phone I copied Stk.apk back to /system/apps where it was before deleted.
But needless to say nothing got fixed... not sure if Stk.apk is now "actually" installed or just there in the folder. But still nothing works and crashes every 10 seconds... logs provider, dialer, phone, framework, contacts... its all a firework of crashes...
Given that you've hard reset your device already, you are pretty much wasting your time trying to "fix" what you broke by messing with /system, and you should really just flash another ROM.
My suggestion would be to follow the advice on this thread.

Yeap, that what i did and it was succesfull. My only issue is that Id like to convert my Tab's file system to ext4 to improve speed and performance and then update to the 1.4Ghz OC Kernel. I have no idea how to do those 2 things... actually Im not sure I understand the difference between a ROM and a Kernel... I assume a Kernel is part of the engine of the ROM itself but I have no idea how to perform the update. I read countless threads and its all scattered info without finding one straight to the point guide on how to do it...
Thanks again

Part of your problem is that you are trying to run before you can walk! Your experience with WinMo is of pretty much no use to you in the Linux/Android world, and until you get a better handle of how everything hands together you are always going to feel a little lost.
Personally, since your device is now up and running again, I'd suggest that you hold off doing anything else for while, until you get a chance to catch up with some of the basics. Once you are a little more familiar, you can then start with something simple like flashing the MoDaCo kernel (instructions here) to support EXT4, and to give you access to ClockworkMod recovery.
IMO, whilst EXT4 and O/C kernels will give you a performance boost, they are not as noticeable as jumping from a shipping ROM to one of the JMx development builds that Samsung has put out. If you are running JMI, you should already be feeling that the device has got much snappier.

Yes Dave you are right, right and right again!!! Thank you for the wisdom and advice!!!
The main thing I have understood with today's messy experience was that the actual ROM files are never deleted or damaged as long as you dont access them via a rooted tool and start deleting them. Now I understand that Titanium Backup, Sprint Backup (my favorite), My Backup Pro and others, only back-up and restore what the user installs on top of the ROM itself. So a full "reset" wipes all that data but leaves the ROM files as they always were. If they got damaged in the process, they'll still be damaged till a a full ROM restores all system data, now I get it.
What I still dont get is the issue of bakcing up and restoring. In Windows Mobile, a toll like SPB Backup has a simple option called FULL BACKUP and that backs-up everything on top of the ROM and then restores everything after a full reset on top of the ROM again like it was before. The problem I have with apps like Titanium Backup, Sprint Backup, My Backup Pro, etc... is that there is not a "BACKUP ALL" option... one has to backup "data", "settings", "apps" and I always feel stuff will be left behind and then not restored.
Till I find an app or way to do a simple one-click "backup everything" and then "restore evertything" I always feel vulnerable to changes I make to the Tab that may get it unstable or corrupt and then not being able to be restored properly without a full ROM Flash and then re-installing all from scratch.
With WinMo, I could do all sorts of crazy experiments and tweaking and after that, a registry restore or back-up restore would bring me back my phone to exactly like it was with all my stuff and configuration in a matter of seconds or minutes. Thats what I need to find out with this Tab/Android and then Im ready to be able to explore messing up with this knowing I can always easily go back within minutes to the state I had before with all my apps and settings.
This is what I need to learn next how to do! Trampoline without a safety net is not a good idea. Ive alwways loved WinMo for the ease of backing up and restoring whatever I was doing on my handsets withjout ever worrying to put myself at risk to loose it all. I need to learn this on Android and its definitely more intricate!
just put sdcard into your samsung tab and flash modaco kernel amd it will automatically covert to ext4, after that you can flash the 1.4ghz kernel you wanted.

no...you need a kernel to flash via odin, you need sdcard mounted so that it will backup all files automatically while converting to ext4..head over to modaco kernel section amd follow the instruction.

What you want is a Nandroid backup, which you can only make from a recovery image like Clockworkmod recovery.
Essentially, this does exactly what you want, but you need to flash a new kernel (e.g. the MoDaCo kernel) which supports Clockwordmod.

i beg to differ about stk.apk fc's your phone. that's the first thing i delete when removing system apps with no fc's
refer to this link about having a bare bones system. stk.apk is for management of multiple sim cards

When I delete stk.apk (for me useless useless useless) the first thing that happens immediately is that when I hang-up on a call made or received, the Tab vibrates then freezes for about 5 seconds then tells me the phone application has crashed. I tried this with 2 ROMs now as a test and its guaranteed. More even, if you use a program like SYSTEM APP REMOVER you can emulate the removal of an app by disabling it... it only takes me to disable STK and a reboot for the phone not to work. cant get rid of it, that simple

[Q] All files are gone!

Hey guys, big problem here.
I was backing up, preparing for the 4.3 upgrade. I was cleaning some files off the storage using my pc, including the weird storage folder that only contained (more) titanium backup stuff.
Well, next thing I know, my phone doesn't see any of my files anymore. They're not there on PC now either, and no root-enabled file manager can see anything. However, 9gb of space is still being used by "other"!
Please help!
If it helps, I think I broke the symbolic links. Any solution? Or have I screwed this?
There might be an adb pull command to grab all files in /media. However I don't know the full syntax. Google adb pull sd card and you should hopefully find the correct command. You might have to play with the path a bit to get it right. It's something like /data/media/ on the One.
I'm not close to a pc so can't see what it should be.

No luck. After major research online, the files are gone - I'd have to use recovery software after performing a very long backup in order to retrieve, and there wasn't that much that I lost since the last backup, a few photos just.
More a pain in the ass really. I never would have thought that those directories could do that. Kinda dangerous.
(accidental double post)

Please help i’ve tried everything else

Hello is there any ethical hacker out there or at least one who could help me with my current situation. I own a Nokia 8 which I bought last year. My error is that I immediately placed the sd card of my old phone samsung j7 to the newly purchased phone not knowing it has a virus, I noticed my old phone doing crazy things when I factory reset it. Since it is rooted, the virus seemed to have taken hold of all system apps and has been updating itself and i recently noticed something fishy with my nokia 8, I tried chatting with support before but they just dismissed it. What I did exactly was to delete the folders that keep reproducing on the files folder of my nokia 8 it contained about 6 gb before and as I kept deleting it, I noticed that all my Photos 40 GB to be exact became 23gb and as i kept deleting the 1 kb files in the file folder I also deleted a DCIM folder but I think it was not thre DCIM for pictures since it was placed in unknown folders. I tried all kinds of recovery even windows based but it seems like there was nothing deleted as it would have been scanned, and it keeps saying that I need to root it. I don’t want to root it because I might give unlimited power to the hacker or to whatever virus is doing this. Please I need help desperately thanks. All my Photos and files were deleted.
So, you have described your problem. But you did not tell nothin about what exactly you want to someone helped you with. What kind of help you are expect from the community? To repare your data? Or to kill the virus? Or maybe to cure the phone? The best way in your situation is Factory reset for phone (without SD-card) and formatting the SD-card by any tool or even Windows formatting function. If the data is need to be repared try to format the card firstly, than scan it by the R-studio or similar software for search deleted files. Most of the tools of this kind have an options to scan for the concret data like the photos, music etc. Use this option to find all kinds of images and repare it to your hard drive. As I understood from your post you have the PC virus lives at your card? Or it is Android malware? Its very difficult to help you remotely. Nobody knows what exactly happened with your card and with your phone. If the data is not very imortant for you just format the card and the phone (reset it to factory defaults) and scan your PC for viruses for more sureness.

The advice I gave you is general in nature and is not required to be executed exactly. Better find among your friends or colleagues someone who understands computers and ask him to help you understand your situation. It will be most right to do.

Use the Card-reader for formatting and scan of you SD-card. Dont do described things through the phone+USB cable. Card-reader only!

I removed my sd card. All my photos, videos and files are in the phone memory. I want to recover at least all the photos and videos. I have not deleted them I only deleted the files in the files folder. I’m still unsure of what happened either there as a virus or my phone was hacked since it was tampered with. I guess people were interested in deleting my recordings and photos or proof
You completely confused me. Put your card into card-reader and copy all data to PC. Then scan the card for deleted files without filter. Recover all of them to hard drive then sort recovered files which are needed and which are not. Then format the card by any formatting tool. Copy all important data from your phone to PC to safe place and do factory reset on the phone. It will destroy all data including the possible virus or whatever it was. Do not store the important data on the mobile. Do not forget to remove google account before doing factory reset, because the first start after the reset will tell that the phone is locked to account and will ask to enter login/password. If the account will be romoved before the reset you`ll be proposed to setup the mobile as a new one - like you just bought it. That`s all I can to advice to you.
I’m sorry, i meant to say. That my photos and videos are in the phone memory not in the sd card. What I think the virus did is to hide all my photos. My lock screen images, gboard images, and wallpaper is still there which means the photos were not deleted.
As I said - use the card-reader to explore the files on your card. Enable "Show hidden files" in Explorer to see all of data of the card. You will be able to copy files to PC even if the status is "hidden". Then uncheck attribute hidden in fole properties on eache file. Then format your card as mentioned above.
You can do the same except the formatting with the phone memory. I mean copy important files from phone to PC and "unhide" them.
Make the batch file with .cmd extention with this text:
attrib -S -H /D /S
Save it to folder containing your hidden files and execute it. It will unhide all the files in folder and you will see them in Explorer

It`s probably your PC is contaminated by virus that makes your files hidden, so scan it by antivirus with latest bases.
My photos are in the phone memory.

The problem is that the virus/hijacker has manged to hide it all. It shows as blank. All of my files even my music, only apps are working , but not doing their part. I checked with Sophos Security ( antivirus installed) that most of stock and even pre-installed apps have been modified like for example google play services : other permissions
-android.permission.USE_CREDENTIALS - no description
-android.permission.MANAGE_ACCOUNTS - no desription
-android.permission.READ_PRIVILEGED_PHONE_STATE - nod description
android.permission.ALLOCATE_AGGRESSIVE - no description
android.permission.CONNECTIVITY_USE_RESTRICTED_NETWORKS -no description
I have about 30 other permissions which are bothersome.

Ok. I said above that you can explore your files via USB cable from PC, if there no files are visible, so you can to try to enable show hidden files in options of folder: Control Panel->Explorer parameters (it may be another name in English, I`m Russian and use a Russian locale in Windows)->View-> in the end of list see check-box "Show hidden files, folders and disks". Now you must be able to see hidden files in phone memory. Copy all of them to you PC and do the script as mentioned above. put it to folder with the hidden files and run it. It will unhide all files in the folder. You can do th same with the files from SD card. Now your data is OK. After all procedures you can format the card and reset your mobile to factory reset - it will delete all possible virus or whatever it was and your phone will work well as it must to. SD card wil be clear after formatting and apps will save and use their data properly. Use it as usual. Keep your data on PC - this is much more safe then mobile.
upd.
Run Notepad copy this text
attrib -S -H /D /S
paste it to Notepad, save the file unhide.cmd, for example - it is simple Windows command line script that cleans files attributes like "hidden" "system" or "read only".

Oh. I don’t know what happened. Malwarebytes says the ransomware protection was turned off and I have the old virus I had before, I don’t know if the virus I have was the one from the Phone, which seems to be cross-platform already. Is it okay to do the show hidden files or should I format my computer first. This is so frustrating.
What is Malwarebyte? Do "Show hiddin files". You need to backup your media, right? Do it. Media files does not victim for viruses. They are probably clean. Anyway copy files if it possible.
