Data2sd on ICS, how? - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hi, I am using AOKP ROM, and I am not able to install s2e. I tried flashing the script from handy information, but s2e only shows "download cache " to move .
Is there any other way to move apps and data to SD ext?

1 Flashed ROM
2 mounted system and data on CWM
3 flashed this file: www.darktremor.info/files/a2sd/dtapps2sd-2.7.5.2-1-signed.zip
4 Booted
5 installed Android Terminal Emulator and typed
Su
A2SD check
A2sd data2sd
A2sd cachesd
Now im using it. Otherwise, give Link2sd a try
CHECK THIS BEFORE GIVING UP: Open root explorer (or file manager) and go to root directory, open sd ext folder. If there is another folders named app, app private and stuff, youre good

I reflash the rom, and before install anything i flash the script, and TB give the correct values for sd- ext
So i think it okay,
Type from my mini

Install some apps, and see if internal memory will decrease

Try link2sd,it work for me.

i would recommend usage of link2sd and appmonster they r d best apps available for sending apps to sd-card.....

use link2sd
link2sd us the best app out there for moving apps to sd.you only need to have root enabled and it will do the rest.do try it as it works on my mini running aokp milestone rev 2

Help using Terminal

I'm currently using Dwangs donut ROM.
For some strange reason my Terminal Emulator is "missing".
There is no icon for it in my app tray.
Market shows it as installed, but cannot open it nor uninstall it.
I have now installed Better Terminal Emulator Magic. What commands do I need to enter to completely remove Terminal Emulator from my system, so that I can try reinstalling it from the Market?
I hope I've made myself clear - if not please feel free to ask for clarification!
Look in the Development Tools or Spare Parts. I've seen a couple builds where it ends up in there.

Just looked in Spare Parts - not there. Can't find Development Tools on my phone.
To remove it do this in the recovery console
mount system
rm /system/app/Term.apk (i think that is the name for it)
reboot

Ah, now we're getting somewhere (sort of!)
I've done that, but get the response:
rm: cannot remove ' /system/app/Term.apk' : No such file or directory
that means its not there or its spelled wrong..
try using /system/sd instead of system
also, maybe clearing the market cache would work

Tried both of these - no joy :-(
1. Same response as before
2. Terminal Emulator still showing as installed (but Open & Uninstall buttons greyed out), even after clearing Market cache.
well if you dl one of cyanogens roms, you can pull the apk from there and push it to system
Yea or adb install -r
if it is not in /system/app then you can drop it in there with these commands, make sure that the .apk is in the root of your sdcard
Code:
mount sdcard
mount system
cp /sdcard/Term.apk /system/app/
reboot

Chainfire 3D help [CM7-SD]

I'm running on an SD version of CM7 N115.
Used Verygreen's size agnostic to get it loaded on there.
The problem is, I can not install chainfire drivers because /system is not writeable(RW). I was able to install this previously on a dual-boot SD card with phiremod on it.
What I've tried
ES file explorer change permissions- Result: Denied
ES file explorer root options- mount system as writeable option- Result "failed to mount"
Was gonna try the ADB method but my device isn't even recognized when I start it up.
Anyone think they could lead me in the right direction?
I figured it out. Anyone else having trouble mounting partitions or making /system rw to install these drivers this is what I did.
1. Open up terminal emulator on your nook
2. type su and enter. type "bash" without the quotes.
3. then type mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblk3 /system
I was able to install the drivers after this.
Or you can install the latest Busybox using the Busybox Installer app with the blue arrow on the icon. The other one with the gears in the icon doesn't work for me.

[Q] Installed ICS samuaz, how do i set up app2sd?

I have to say that i'm a real newb at development but i succesfully flashed ICS MeDroid on my Nexus One. I just have one question, how do i set up app2sd on my phone? This is the first time so i really have no idea how to do this. I already installed some Apps but my internal storage is really getting less and less. Is there any way to not lose my installed apps and integrate them later with app2sd?
Help would be appreciated.
1. Make sure you have a 1gb ext3 or ext4 partition on your sdcard. (You can partition with 4ext)
2. Start up the terminal emulator on your phone and type "su" followed by "a2sd install"
3. Wait until the phone reboots and fully boots up. Enter the terminal emulator once more and type "su" followed by "a2sd cachesd" to set a cache to sd-flag and wait for the phone to reboot
4. You're done!
Awesome, will try this as soon as i can. Thank you
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You may also, after having done "a2sd cachesd" use the command "a2sd zipalign" suppose to give us a little more speed in loading apps.

alright, i partitioned with 4ext and got to the a2sd install part. I got the message "a2sd will be installed after reboot". Now it rebooted and i went back to the terminal emulator. I typed su and then tried a2sd cachesd, but i get the message:
Invalid Command:
Available Commands are:
install
remove
align
fixapk
partlist
diskspace
resetcache
nocache
What happened? Did i do something wrong?

Looks to me like samuaz's build does not feature cache to sd ext. Try flashing the latest darktremor script.
on op page--
a2sd install moves apps and dalvik at same time no a2sd cachesd command used
this is stated for v4.2 and since not mentioned in v5, it should remain the same
I flashed the new ROM update and did exactly that. Thank you, works perfect!

[GUIDE] Simple method to move apps to SD without link2sd or scripts

Title says it all no scripts needed nor is any link2sd and ext-sd partition. This is no new discovery it just sets default install location via a terminal parameter - am just sharing it so that those of you who might not know this benefit from it
Requirements :
*Rooted device (with usb debugging enabled in settings - developer options)
*Terminal emulator
Steps
* open term. Emulator
* type su and press enter key (accept any super user prompt that follows)
* key in the following code and press enter when done :
Code:
pm set-install-location 2
After completion you can go to setting - manage applications and move all apps to sd even the likes of stubborn apps like Facebook.
NOTE:
You can also get current default location by following code :
Code:
pm get-install-location
You can set it back to desired location by using 'pm set-install-location' if ever you feel the need to. The number after location denotes -
Code:
0-auto
1-internal sd
2-external sd
If the any of above codes give errors then try without hyphens in middle. Ex.
Code:
su
pm setInstallLocation 2
Have a good day

Can't mount xbin on Marshmallow

I'm attempting to mount the xbin folder to copy over a file into it (sqlite3) and am unable to. When I attempt to mount R/W in Root Explorer nothing happens. If I copy the file directly and attempt to mount from the prompt Root Explorer states that the copy failed. I've even attempted chmod and that also fails.
I did a clean install of Marshmallow, flashed TWRP 2.8.5.0, flashed ElementalX-N6-2.03 kernel, then SU Beta 2.49. Root Checker tells me that I have root access and busybox is installed properly.
As a test I tried all of the above on other folders such as bin and that failed as well. I've attempted copying sqlite3 in TWRP over to bin (couldn't find xbin in the file manager) and it said successful, but doesn't show when I boot back up. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this?

ElementalX hasn't got the R/W protection removed. You'll have to use Hellscore (or maybe some others) until the protection is removed in Ex. It is next on the list for that Kernel I thin.

Thanks! That resolved the mounting problem but for some reason copying over the file still fails. I even chmod 0777 on xbin and it won't copy. Hmm.

Convert or uninstall unnecessary Google apps in /system the free space on stock /system is only about 2mb, this was one of the reasons I initially couldn't install layers.

Yes, I have root explorer. When I hit the button nothing happens. I downloaded the app called Mount /system and when I hit the button to mount it in there it tells me my device may not be rooted or compatible. In terminal emulator when I type su the $ changes to #, and in supersu everything has the proper root rights so I know my root is working.
I guess I should also mention that I am running the xTraSmooth 6.0 rom that came pre rooted with the hellscore kernel. I flashed it from stock M after flashing TWRP.

I've been looking through the thread for the rom and some other people had the same issue. They reflashed the rom and it seemed to fix it for some reason. So I'm going to try that in a bit and see how it goes.
