[GUIDE] Simple method to move apps to SD without link2sd or scripts - Optimus L3, L5, L7 General

Title says it all no scripts needed nor is any link2sd and ext-sd partition. This is no new discovery it just sets default install location via a terminal parameter - am just sharing it so that those of you who might not know this benefit from it
Requirements :
*Rooted device (with usb debugging enabled in settings - developer options)
*Terminal emulator
Steps
* open term. Emulator
* type su and press enter key (accept any super user prompt that follows)
* key in the following code and press enter when done :
Code:
pm set-install-location 2
After completion you can go to setting - manage applications and move all apps to sd even the likes of stubborn apps like Facebook.
NOTE:
You can also get current default location by following code :
Code:
pm get-install-location
You can set it back to desired location by using 'pm set-install-location' if ever you feel the need to. The number after location denotes -
Code:
0-auto
1-internal sd
2-external sd
If the any of above codes give errors then try without hyphens in middle. Ex.
Code:
su
pm setInstallLocation 2
Have a good day

Works well for me in cm9 and 2.3.6 and in fact should work on all android devices but don't exactly know why you can't get it to work - am sorry i can't help to revert just use 0 by the way you could also give internal sd (1) a try to see if it works. Anyway thanks mate for letting me know it doesn't work

I am having problems too, I have entered the comands in the terminal emulator but no results at all. Do i have to reboot my device ?

ok this is where i am i unzipped android sdk6 on my c drive.. i put the asroot(unzipped) and the i.5 recovery image in the tools folder of the sdk.. i go to the windows prompt and type "cmd" (no quotes) screen comes up i type cd C\android-sdk-windows\tools.. press enter.. then i get "this system cannot find the path specicied" help.....
Run the setup dcs in the Android ask folder and make sure you do it as admin in Vista and 7. You'll probably have to force http in options, most people do.

[MOD/GUIDE]This is HOW TO Remove HTC Lockscreen and Get Default Android one.

Hello Everyone,
This is Just a small and easy mod/guide for all those who want Default Android Lockscreen and like me hate the HTC slide down Lockscreen:
Usual Warning : I am not responsible if by doing the steps below ::
You brick your phone (Highly unlikely if you follow only given steps).
Your GF starts loving your phone and wants it.
Your GF gets pregnant. Its you who did it .. well hopefully
Let's not delete your lockscreen just keep it in case you want it back. yeah yeah i am all for safety just like my rom.
(Always be safe)
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
Connect your phone and use ROM manager to reboot into recovery alternatively you can disconnect your phone reboot into recovery (vol down+power) and then connect your cable when you can see the green text.
Select partition menu or mount ** (dont remember the option its mount something something) depending on your recovery version and Mount system
Now i hope you know how to use adb. (Download and install android sdk)
Open command prompt (cd "path to android-sdk-windows/tools" without quotes) on my pc for example it is
Code:
cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
If you're on LINUX i am sure you know what to do.next all instructions are same:for Windows and Linux
Run following commands
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
mv HtcLockScreen.apk HtcLockScreen.bak
exit
Now you will get a nice transparent default android lockscreen.
In case you want your stock HTC lockscreen back do this
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
mv HtcLockScreen.bak HtcLockScreen.apk
exit
I have tried this with SUnAaBh ROM and it works flawlessly and ideally should work with every ROM including those not meant for HTC Wildfire.
The suggestion in the next post i.e post No.2 will cause your framework to change i.e your Theme and look of icons on notification bar, dropdown bar, battery icon etc SO to Preserve your framework just INSTALL THIS FILE..its same from attachment.
Hit Thanks if it helped.
This doesnt fix the Alarm clock bug that appears when removing the HTC lockscreen.
This does:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10192875&postcount=2
Using it on Wildpuzzle 0.1 with no problems.
Will using this work:
- If you set a alarm ( for waking up or something ), does it work then?
- If you start Angry Birds, to make it working I must power off my screen, go to lockscreen and unlock it. And then I could play. Does this work too with this lockscreen?
Thanks in advance!

I've tried this a minute ago! And it's really simple.
1. Download the android-sdk-windows folder and place it anywhere
2. start cmd.exe ( open it via start > cmd.exe )
2. Enter: cd: C:\whatever\whatever\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
3. enter: adb.exe
4. then enter the things from the first page ( the adb commands )
5. unmount system ( ! ) on phone
6. reboot phone.
And you got it! I really don't ever used adb! So it's really simple with instructions. Maybe you could include my instructions?

Data2sd on ICS, how?

Hi, I am using AOKP ROM, and I am not able to install s2e. I tried flashing the script from handy information, but s2e only shows "download cache " to move .
Is there any other way to move apps and data to SD ext?

A2sd data2sd
A2sd cachesd
Now im using it. Otherwise, give Link2sd a try
CHECK THIS BEFORE GIVING UP: Open root explorer (or file manager) and go to root directory, open sd ext folder. If there is another folders named app, app private and stuff, youre good
I reflash the rom, and before install anything i flash the script, and TB give the correct values for sd- ext

[Q] How to bypass unlock pattern

I am just asking this for informational purpose, is it possible to bypass the unlock pattern of android by any means. OK the real thing is that my frnd challenged me that it can't be bypassed by any means. He's kind a bigger noob than me in these kind of things. I know a way of formating all data thru recovery but by that way all data is gone. So is there any other way

I'd assume you want to run something along the lines of:
Code:
adb shell
This will bring up a Linux shell for the device...
Code:
$ ps aux
This lists all running processes (don't type the $)
Code:
$ pkill [process]
This will kill the process if you replace [process] with the process name for the lockscreen process...
A few issues that you will probably have are:
adb might not be enabled on the device if he doesn't do any dev stuff - it needs to be turned on in Developer Options...
The lockscreen process is probably going to be run by root (oe), so you might not be able to kill it or even see that its running with the above commands, instead you need to run
Code:
$ su
before trying the above commands, however, the phone probably needs to be already rooted and might require user input to give permissions for this, unless the option for root over adb is enabled in Developer Options aswell.
However, if you were really desperate, you could probably figure out a root method - basically use the commands in the "root.zip" flashable package, in order to root the phone over adb, but you could push a superuser app which gave permission by default - by changing the source of the one you normally install - I'm pretty sure its open source... then you could run the commands fine, however, there is a risk of bricking the device if you do something wrong.
Also, the best way to work out which process is the lockscreen is to run the command without lockscreen enabled and then with it enabled, and find the difference... that is, of course, if its not obvious.
All that said, the lockscreen process might be part of the system ui or something, so you'd have to reset the lockscreen settings, by overwriting the settings file for the phone (but all the data would be kept on there), then restarting the phone or killing the process & starting it again....
Anyway, hope some of this helps!

Install CWM touch recovery on Optimus 4x HD (P880)

Note: You need an optimus 4X with UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER and ROOTED, also you need optimus 4x drivers and ADB installed in your computer (ADB attached).
1. Go to: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager and download the last touch image for LG Optimus 4x.
2. [Recommended] rename the image file (like: "recovery-clockwork-touch-X.X.X.X-p880.img") to "recovery.img"
3. Connect your 4X to the computer and copy the image to the root of your internal sdcard (/sdcard).
4. In your computer, open a command prompt in you adb folder and type "c:\adb>adb shell".
5. Type:
su
cat /mnt/sdcard/recovery.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
sync
6. Restart in recovery mode (shut down and turn on pressing power button + volume down button).

I don't use RomManager, and it has nothing to do with costs. I have bought many apps over the last couple of years, but RomManager doesn't do anything that you can't do yourself.
I have said it before and will again ... people are much better off being able to install things like Recoveries, ROMs, Kernels etc on their own, from the command line or ADB rather than relying on an application to do it for them. That way you know what to do if it goes wrong and you can't get access to your phone's Android O/S. I have seen far too many people not know how to fix it and then panic like mad because they need help and no-one replies within 5 minutes when they really, really need their phone working straight away
Also, PayPal isn't a solution for the Play Store - there are some countries that simply can't get access to certain apps and there are some people (especially the younger ones) who can't get a card, a PayPal account or whatever else.
I must admit that the supportive (and maybe correct way) it's install this app using cwm rom manager and donate for it, despite of that, I'm not hacking cwm, clockworkmod guys publish freely the image so anyone that knows adb commands can install touch recovery, again, if you can, you should donate for this app but if for any reason you can't donate you could try this method.

1. Go to: and download the last touch image for LG Optimus 4x.
2. [Recommended] rename the image file (like: "recovery-clockwork-touch-X.X.X.X-p880.img") to "recovery.img"
3. Connect your 4X to the computer and copy the image to the root of your internal sdcard (/sdcard).
4. Open a command prompt in you adb folder and type "c:\adb>adb shell".
5. Type:
su
cat /mnt/sdcard/recovery.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
sync
6. Restart in recovery mode (shut down and turn on pressing power button + volume down button).

Permission Denied
Whenever I try this I get permission denied. How can I fix this?
[email protected]:/ $ cat /mnt/sdcard/recovery.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
cat /mnt/sdcard/recovery.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
/system/bin/sh: can't create /dev/block/mmcblk0p1: Permission denied
Edit: Wow I feel stupid now. I forgot to type su.

Yep that's the problem, it's really easy to note it, when you connect as superuser (su) the prompt changes to "#" instead of "$" hope that it worked fine to you.
Hi after flashing the CWM I can NOT get in recovery any more, the phone starts but no recovery
[LGE_SECURITY] ERROR: boot image signature
I probably have to flash the rom again.
Did you unlock your bootloader?
