[REF] Kindle Fire compatible cases? - Nexus 7 Accessories

In this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754717 I touched on the idea that the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 might be close enough in dimensions that they could share some cases..
There are posts of the same product number for both devices.
So it got me thinking as to how many of those cases might be compatible and already available.
Perhaps owners of both having cases for their Kindle Fire could check fitment and let us know.
Comparison: Google Nexus 7 16GB vs. Amazon Kindle Fire

EDIT: seems I am a bit late to the idea, but none the less a perfect opportunity to pool our resources together and confirm fitment.

This case works fine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767318

Well, since I'm not at 10 posts yet, I can't submit a link, but this case:
www .amazon.com/Kindle-Genuine-Leather-Cover-Marware/dp/B005QPXEK2/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1342645991&sr=1-1&keywords=kindle+fire+case+green
Fits my Nexus 7 perfectly, like it was designed for it. Which is great, since I loved the case for my Fire.
Regards,
Mark

Thanks for that. This was the exact case and color I wanted for the Nexus 7. I was waiting on Marware, but I'll take your word that it fits the Nexus 7 as well. I just placed my order.

I'm just looking for a case to protect it from sand when I carry it in my bag. Would the first one do the trick, or is it an actual case case?
The are just generic cases or sleeves for any 7" tab. You can get a simple sleeve type case on ebay for under two dollars with free shipping from hong kong that will do the trick.

Yeah,... NO! I'll be a little more comfortable keeping someone from North America in a job... not political, just self preservation.

Same brand from ebay.
Couldn't find it for $2. Difference from amazon seems to be $3 less and no shipping costs. They're mailing it from China so it'll take two weeks, which means it'll arrive at about the same time too
I'm actually a bit concerned about standard 7" cases. The nex7 has a fairly large bezel. I have a kindle fire (190 mm tall) in a marware stand case from amazon. The marware case is an excellent case!
I also have a tab2 7.0 which is 3.7mm taller (193.7). The tab2 fits well in that particular case also but it is a little harder to stretch the clips around it. The nex7 is 198.5mm and I'm sure that a standard 7" sleeve would work fine. I'm just concerned that a case similar to the stand-style marware case may not house the nex7 tablet very well.
The nex7 is only about a quarter inch larger than the fire, but it makes me a bit apprehensive about buying a case that I cannot try the tablet in. I'm hoping that the "official" nexus 7 case will be available soon. It looks nice!
The way how popular Nexus 7 seems to be already, there will be many great cases made specially for it. I'm going to go for a pink one made out of faux leather for 4-5 dollar. Before that, it'll just have to rest in my silk evening bag which doesn't see much use anyway.

Here's the cheap case I'm using with my N7.
Oooh! A lot of these look pretty nice. Since I can't post links yet (YET) I suggest hitting up Amazon and searching "nexus 7 nuvur". Apparently they have quite a few cases, almost 6 pages I think, and I ordered one. I'll letcha guys know how it comes out if you'd like.
For now, I'm just waiting for the nice Asus ones to come out. The ones that remind me of the iPad smart covers. haha

It was available, but they removed it temporarily I guess. According to the representative I spoke to on the phone, they should be back Monday.
Oh, and also, the case I bought was $8.30 (give or take on the pennies) shipped. According to the image quality, it looks fairly nice. Apparently, mine is named MDK2G2R1.
I certainly hope that in light of the recent Apple injunction that we will get to use our accessories. I read Google terms of the pre-order. I believe that if the product its barred from US sales, Google is not obligated to fulfill existing orders.

Wait... so you're saying the cases might not ship... or the devices themselves?!
I'm saying that Apple might very well ask for an injunction barring sale of the tablet in the US. The fact that they were granted an injunction on the Galaxy Nexus phone (only the version available directly from Google with 4.1 Jelly Bean) based on the "Siri-like" Google Now, means that Apple may ask for, and be granted an injunction against our tablet.

That's what I'm scared of.
And a free case won't be worth the extra month or two of waiting.
I wouldn't be surprised if that REALLY happened
How about:

There does seem to be a fairly large range gathering here: http://www.gearzap.com/tablet-accessories/google/nexus-7-accessories/cases.html although by the looks of it, none are actually in stock yet.
A chick from Google said that this case fits the tablet nicely and doesn't block any of the ports/buttons:

I like the Android logo (was actually thinking of it for my GTab+), eBay also has it for less with choice of color:

After release I'm sure we'll see a lot more custom cases for cheap.

Amazon has it from another seller if that's the one you really want, looks like it will block the speaker at the back of the nexus

YooMee tablet case for my N7

I think I found my case. i had a specific requirement that very few cases have, a hand strap. While i read, i can put my hand through the strap so the tablet is more stable. this is important to me as I commute from Philly to NYC on a daily basis and during my train commute, i need to be able to hold it securely, if its not in my bag or jacket (seriously, though, why would i EVER put it away??)
It's the YooMee tablet case for the Nexus 7. You can look at the details on Amazon. Just do a search on "yoomee nexus 7". You'll see it. The best part? it's only $7.99! Obviously , there are no reviews, but i looked at the reviews for the similar product for the Kindle Fire, and seemed very encouraging.
Anyway, just wanted to share what i found.
Enjoy!

I suppose providing a link will be helpful:

IMO, the same case is for sale and cheaper for the Kindle Fire

Case-Mate Kindle Fire Tuxedo Case

It uses adhesive to secure the device. Smart-cover type functionality it appears from the video. Looks sweet. Anyone want to pull the trigger?
http://www.case-mate.com/Amazon-Kindle-Fire-Cases/Case-Mate-Amazon-Kindle-Fire-Tuxedo-Cases.asp
You do it, then you can tell us all about it.
This might be the best out there atm, wish it was designed for the Nexus so u wouldn't have to have that flap (have it attach like the Ipad)
I'm not gonna spend $40 on a case that isn't designed for my device.

I agree that this case looks great. I actually prefer this over the magnetic smart covers, as the smart covers do not protect the back of the device. I have ordered this off of Amazon, and will get it in the next couple of days.
The Nexus 7, however... I'll probably get it next week according to Google's E-mail on the matter.
By the way, there's no doubt in my mind that this will work for the Nexus 7:
Both Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire have a "rubberized" back, so if the adhesive works on the Kindle Fire, it'll work on the Nexus 7.
base x height x thickness for Nexus 7 is: 120 x 198.5 x 10.45 mm
base x height x thickness for Kindle F is: 120 x 190.0 x 11.40 mm
What that means is that it'll have a small bezel of ~4mm on the top and bottom of the device (thickness of <1mm will probably be negligible on a case)
Case is "open" and not blocking any ports/buttons (since Kindle Fire has no buttons on the side, if the case had a covering on the side, it would've screwed the Nexus 7's buttons)
Regardless, since I will get the tablet within 30 days (which is the return period for Amazon for this case), I'll try it out and update if it's worth keeping or not for the Nexus 7.
I don't see any better case coming out for it (I prefer a small, sleek case like such), since the actual smart case design (like the ones for the iPad) is patented by Apple, and you know they're going to sue the crap out of any other company that makes it (since they're very sue-happy).
I'm going to pass by best buy tomorrow and see if I can find anything decent that fits...if not I'm ordering this.

I have this case for my iPad and its by far the best case I've ever had. I hope they make a nexus version soon.
I had this case for my Kindle Fire but unfortunately I sold it along with the Fire when I ordered the Nexus 7. That said, I'm fairly confident that it would work just fine with the N7...the adhesive is very strong and should have no problems attaching to the back of the N7. I took the KF out of this case several times without any issues getting it to stick to the adhesive when I put it back. My only concern would be that because the KF is slightly thicker the case might have a little extra "give" with the N7 when closed.
It's a very sharp looking case, though. Highly recommend for KF, should probably be fine for N7. Using mine without a case at the moment but considering going back to this one.

Noname case with USB keyboard

Dont have one but by judging it id say what do you have to lose for 7$ just dont expect alot for your dollar you know ? i might order one myself.
The stylus would be no good for the Nexus, the keyboard won't work (at least not without an adaptor) and it would be at least an inch thick when closed, don't waste your money.

I rooted my Kindle Fire and added a custom ROM which allowed OTG, so the keyboard work. The keys are tiny and the clips don't hold the Nexus at all.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
i've actually got one of those. the guy i bought it from on ebay supplied a usb OTG adapter with it.
works flawlessly with my nexus 7. at first it throws you off a bit since the keys arent standard sized, but i adapted to it fairly easily enough.
as mentioned, the clips dont really hold the nexus 7 in place, so dont expect this to be protecting your nexus 7. on mine, i just went to a hardware store and bought some of those hooks you'd normally stick to a wall and just stuck it to the case to make sure my nexus 7 doesnt slip out accidentally.
its good for the price, but if you're willing to spend a bit more, there are better keyboard cases out there.

Kindle Fire HD case on N7 ?

This new case for the kindle fire 7" seems to be the real deal, do you guys think it will fit the Nexus 7 ?
Here's the link...

Doubt it. Isn't it a 8.9" screen so it should be noticeably bigger in size.

I sure hope someone, somewhere comes out with a decent case. Of seems everyone else making 7 inch tablets or EReaders seems to come out with very nice slime cover/cases ((Samsung, amazon kindles, hell even kobo). It has been long enough already.

I doubt this case will work N7. This shell case looks like a exact fit for Fire HD7, plus ports and controls are in totally different location.

I guess the kindle fire hd is 7.6" x 5.4" x 0.4" (193 mm x 137 mm x 10.3 mm) grabbed from amazon sale page
while the nexus 7 is 198.5 x 120 x 10.45mm (Quote google specs page)
very close in size so some cases may fit each other
but i think anything thats gonna be a perfect fit for one probably won't fit the other
edit*: actually with 2/3rds of an inch difference in width I would say it's definitly not gonna fit
:[ This would be otherwise perfect for what I want for my N7 tho
The N7 is a bit longer than the Fire, this case won't fit. Besides that, the speaker is covered, and I'm sure the power and volume rocker would be as well.
