[Q] Atrix HD NFC? - Motorola Atrix HD

I am curious if the Atrix HD has an NFC chip like the Razr. Does anyone know who has bought the phone? I have not been able to find a teardown of the HD yet.

I don't see NFC anywhere in it. I read a review last night that states it was left out.

The event i went to for the Atrix made me really sad.. they said no to nfc to save money

Thanks bimmerd00d and tacotino. :good::good:
After doing a little more research about NFC, I found that there are apparently a lot of vulnerabilities that have yet to be fixed. (Specifically from Black Hat's Charlie Miller) While the articles I've seen don't go into details, I think for now it is better safe than sorry.
Note: I would post the link, but because I am a new user I cannot.

[Q] "Broken" NCs on eBay?

Hey guys,
Thinking about pulling the trigger on a NC, but I don't want to pay $200-$300 as I already have a Nexus S and a Nexus 1. The NC is planned to be used for light Internet browsing. I found two "broken" NCs on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/160605400390 (Edit: Description for this one says "Lines on screen")
http://cgi.ebay.com/160605383436
The listing are ending soon, but I'm afraid to pull the trigger. I dunno what could cause these units to be broken besides:
1) Battery drain/issues
2) Water damage
3) Main component damage
3.1) Video issues (added)
The XDA part of my brain is telling me that the guy is selling it because of a bad flash but...if he's smart enough to flash, he's smart enough to read XDA and fix it. Plus, I hear NCs are pretty much unbrickable.
So, what do you think? Has anyone encountered things like this before? Should I pull the trigger?
Thanks!
Why don't you ask him what is not working? NC is unbrickable (software talking) but probably they have hardware problems.
I shot the seller a question before I posted this topic, but the NCs don't look damaged. (from the outside anyway) Just figured I'd poke my head in and ask around. I'll await a response and let you all know.
See edit above on the OP.
Have you ever bought a broken used car? And the guys says "O.. only this and that is broken" then you find out its even worse then what he said. And your no mechanic. Just my two cents I've made those kind of mistakes before... its not worth it. Especially if your no "mechanic".

Not worth it!!!
The seller didn't respond to my question so I didn't bid. I wasn't planning on bidding until s/he answered my question.

I bought a broken one off eBay for a project that didn't really need the screen to work. Outside of the fact that it looked like a wolverine went crazy on the back and corners, the screen looked ok when turned off. But when you turn it on, the screen goes all white except for a few lines across the middle that appear to be displaying the UI.
Not a problem for me, but you might want to pass on these.

Already did. How'd your project go with the other NC?

Would you buy an Revo 2 Based on this link?

Interesting when I just did a search for LG Revolution 2.
I came across a link that I had to Google Translate. It's a long link due to the need to translate from whatever language it was in. (Sorry, I didn't care to figure that part out)..
EDIT: It was originally Spanish.

The Specs Are NICE and the photo's are included. At least what I hope to be the actual photo's. 1.5Ghz Dual Core?? Nice.. I want one!
What do others think about this page and such? Real or Not Real? Seems so, but interesting I can't see to come across the same in English....
I though it would be fun to start a new thread on this as there are even more rumors posted around the web that the Revo 2 is due for October 20th, stated also on this following page, dated 08/30/2011:
http://www.lg-phones.org/lg-revolution-2-visits-the-fcc-in-the-form-of-vs920.html
Sorry if this was already posted. Otherwise, though this would be a good thread to start on some Revo 2 Hype.
I also came across this (LG Revo 2 VS920 Accesories Page.)

While the supposed specs are nice, I do not see myself going LG again. I have not owned a samsung or moto phone. The razr is pretty seksay and the nexus is well, nice and straight android... I like the idea of an AOSP phone. Tough call. Might consider it if LG released it with android 4. I will for sure be waiting till a month or so after the release of any future phone I may purchase. See what kind of development community forms and what issues may present themselves. They will need to release it soon or they will be to late to the party against some solid competitors.
1. Razr
2. Vigor
3. Nexus Prime
4. insert all the others I did not name.

I like the RAZR but I saw an article. Might be able to find it, will edit if I do or not. From what the video in the article say it's just the Bionic repackaged (with maybe a better screen? Don't remember) and you can't take the battery out that saddens me. Battery pops are sometimes the only way to do some things on these phones. The Nexus is the one I want but I saw another article saying that it comes in 16 and 32gb internal and it's not known if you can have an SD card (My main reason for disliking the iPhone). Also, it's not known if the battery will come out of that phone either. I don't know much about the Vigor so I will still my fingers for now.
Yeah I couldn't find them... Sorry History is full of a bunch of articles I've been reading tonight
Looks like the Revo 2 did go to a 3 button system which looks like will be the standard for Ice Cream Sandwich.. if the links are correct that is. Still I am in love with the Droid Razr.. sorry LG I was a Moto guy before and pretty sure I will be again some day!!
Anything with "Razr" attached to it usually sends up red flags for me. Have you ever seen anyone who owned the original Razr that still had a decent looking phone 6 months down the road? Yeah, me neither. The last thing I need is a $600 phone that falls apart if it hits a pillow from a drop of 12 inches.
My requirements on my next phone will probably be: NVidia architecture, 4G, and a 4+" screen. A year+ is a long time in the mobile industry, so let's see what they bring to the table.

HTC Vivid

Any chance that there's going to be a section for this... only ask because I know its not launched yet but I Know there's a lot of people looking forward to this phone!
Does HTC Vivid have NFC?
It does not seem like HTC Vivid has NFC.
Can anyone confirm whether or not the phone has NFC?
Thank you.

All reviews I've seen, is no word of NFC, don't think it has one.
I've been searching for an answer here. I can't find anywhere that actually says either way, which leads me to believe it doesn't, since I'm not aware of any HTC phones with NFC. Also, HTC only just joined the NFC Forum a couple weeks ago, while the Vivid/Raider/Holiday has been around for longer than that, meaning it'll probably be a few months before HTC can come out with an NFC phone.
(Just a disclaimer, this is all speculation on my part, I haven't been able to find much in the way of facts.)
Ok there is no NFC on this according to the guy at ATT. I havent found any sign of NFC either. I picked up mine about 2 hours ago. We need a section for this. I WANT ROOT lol.

You might wanna look into the broke phones on eBay as well. Saw this RAZR HD one, just ended, but it was a working screen and digitizer for $25 Canadian. Broke phones are a great source for cheap replacement parts. Just saw a MAXX HD up starting at 99 cents...a possible cheap eb40 mod.

The EB40 is confirmed to be in the Droid Razr Maxx, but is it also in the HD version?

Oops, EV40 is in Maxx HD. It looks similar enough I saw that RHD for $25 C and went "wtf, you have to end the second I find this". I will say that I'm surprised they go for as cheap as they do. A few were priced between 100-200 and there wasn't really anything wrong with them other than some minor scratch and dent -- the best part about having a phone NOT popular with the masses.
Thanks @skeevydude i finally ordered one for $44 from ebay.. will get it within 15 days..

There's an AtrixHD that some dude is selling that's stuck in fast boot. He even took a picture of the fastboot screen. "Bricked" lol

Extra connector on AHD Motherboard

Did anyone ever notice there is an extra plug on the AHD motherboard? I was adding the EB40 and I noticed it, it's on the right side, you can see it here on step nine I was wondering, could that be for NFC?
http://www.fixez.com/media/guides/Motorola-Atrix-HD-MB886-Disassemble-Guide.pdf
Here we go, more clear picture of it.
I don't know. It's possible. That part on the RAZR HD is covered.
Did some searching and saw a ran over RHD board and something's there.
The way it extends out like that makes me wonder if it's as simple as a plug-n-play part. Wouldn't that be nice.

Ah, the wish to find a schematic for that motherboard lol. Does the RHD have a Gyroscope? I know it has NFC IIRC, but otherwise should be identical right?
I saw one a few down on a Google search of “razr HD teardown ”. It listed almost everything except NFC.
