Marware Cases - Nexus 7 Accessories

For people coming from the Kindle Fire, some of the most popular cases were made by Marware and I personally owned their MicroShell Folio case for my Fire. I really loved it, but I haven't heard any news about official Nexus 7 cases. I emailed them, and this is the response I got:
Update for Case #SUP187377 - "Nexus 7 Cases"
Hello WindyCityRockr
Thank you for contacting Marware.
We've been told that Nexus 7 cases are being prepared and should be shipping in 6-10 weeks. We do not know which styles or types of cases are being made at this time, but yes, there will be a few offerings soon.
Thank you for your support!

This is great news, although 6 - 10 weeks is a long time. I hope they release cases that are similar to the Kindle Fire ones for the Nexus 7.

I couldn't wait, so I bought an inexpensive Blurex case fore less than 8 dollars to hold me over until Marware gets things going.

Any updates on this?

I purchased the following case from Amazon. It's the Marware CEO Hybrid for the Kindle Fire.
I wasn't quite sure the fit would be perfect, but this thing fits like its made for the Nexus 7. I was trying to hold out for an official CEO Hybrid for the Nexus 7 from Marware, but I'm not sure I care anymore because this case fits like a glove on the device.

Dang, I'd buy that Microshell in a second. It's exactly what I'm looking for.

how is it any different than the blurex or poetic or iblason etc. besides costing 5-6 times as much? serious question.

I think people would argue Marware is of better quality than the other cases you mentioned.
Personally I'd go with Moko, Poetic etc regardless of quality since they have the auto-wake feature which the Marware obviously lacks.

Better quality. Full grained leather instead of synthetic leather. Build construction is better too. It's not for everyone, but if I'm protecting my $250 tablet, I'd rather spend a little more for a quality case.

There is only one "cheap" case that competes with the marware microshell, and that's a $20 poetic portfolio. I'd happily add $10 for a known quality brand. Not to mention, the MicroShell looks better aesthetically, and it looks like a MUCH sturdier stand.

This confused me. You are already proclaiming missing features when there are absolutely 0 details on the case? We don't even know what models. How do you know if those unknown models have a magnet or not?

Ah, the threads about the upcoming, designed for the N7 versions.

I'm somewhat disappointed that we've heard nothing from Marware in regards to their Nexus 7 cases.

I saw a Tweet from Marware in reply to someone asking about the Nexus 7 and they were told 4-6 weeks.

Looks like no known delivery date. I received the following Tweet from Marware this morning:
...thanks for your interest in Nexus 7 cases Nexus 7 products were put on hold no ETA. When we have more info we will pass it along...
When I inquired further they said:

You're fckn brilliant, not sure why I didn't try this before! I re-gifted my old fire with a new case, so I had this just collecting dust on a shelf. I love the Marware case much more than the Poetic, (which has the elastic strap already stretching out after 2 months of use, and my Marware feels like it did when I bought it after 10+ months of use!)
I would only gripe about 2 things, (which may benefit others): the power and volume are not easily felt, but can still be pressed (I almost prefer this); and the case does not have any loop for a stylus.

Does the Marware Kindle Fire case have punchouts that match the Nexus 7 speakers? I can't tell from the photos on Amazon.

Sorry, I forgot to update this thread. I contacted Marware back in October about a case for the N7 and they told me that they have no plans for a Nexus 7 case "at this time." That was back in October, so I don't know if things have changed since then.

from maware website, no speakers holes, will it affect the output?

High Quality Cases

So I was hoping we could talk about high quality cases that look good and may cost more than the usual cases found on ebay etc. Even though I understand cheap is good at times I do prefer my cases to be of a high standard to hold my precious Nexus 7.
Any high quality cases on the horizon?
I've been looking at a sleeve. I can't post a link, but it's leather and comes with a 100 year warranty. It's by Saddleback Leather and is the medium gadget sleeve.

Saddleback is GOOD stuff. Might have to see if they have one that will fit the N7, otherwise might be able to request one.
Someday I'd love to get a Saddleback Attache. They are beautiful and will last long enough to pass down to grandkids (I don't have kids yet)!

These are $19-25
Timbuk2 makes really great cases. They are currently on sale for the kindle fire. I have double checked the dimensions and it will def fit the Nexus 7. The great thing about the Timbuk2 cases are the functional design. They have a pillow style memory foam padding and ballistic Nylon outside, and a plush, velour faux fur lining for the inside. The faux fur really goes a long way to keeping the screen and body scratch free.
I have 2 on order. They have a couple of different color combos to choose from. I am def into the sleeve style cases. I don't understand why anyone would want to put their tablet or e-reader in a jacket. They are designed to be held, especially the Nexus 7. The rubber back just begs to be gripped.
I'm hoping for a nice case from Incipio. Love the case from them that I have on my Galaxy Nexus.
I went with the roocase super bubble and XOSkin screen protector. I will eventually get a TPU case but don't really like any that are out now.
Those handcrafted leather ones look amazing though! Very nice brand name for other leather goods, but I didn't know they made this line of stuff.

I've asked Oberon Design if they're planning to make one for the Nexus 7. http://oberondesign.com/e-reader-covers-4/siena-ereader-covers.html I've had two of their covers and they're amazing. Their tablet cover isn't intricate like their Ebook reader covers but the quality is definitely there.

Actually, I got a reply this morning - a good one:
"We are looking into making a cover specifically for the Nexus. We have one ordered and once we receive it we will be able to develop our design. I don’t know at this point if the siena style will be an option or not. We will have to see. Stay tuned for more information on our website and facebook page.
Thanks so much for your interest."
I told her that I don't care which one it is, to keep me posted. I love their cases. :good::good:
DODOcase makes great handmade case for the iPad and Kindle. I contacted them asking about the Nexus 7 and they said,
Thanks for your interest! We don't currently have an ETA for release yet, but we are looking into a case for the Google Nexus.

Does anyone know if the official N7 case works as a horizontal kickstand?
I bought the Timbuk2 Plush Sleeve, which is designed for the Kindle Fire, but the Nexus 7 is within the maximum dimensions. I've always been a big fan of their stuff and this sleeve is no exception... super nice!
FYI... I can confirm the Plush sleeve for the Fire fits the N7 perfectly.
I also asked a G+ question to Vajacases.com. Genuine Argentinian leather products. I began using them on my Sony Clie back in the days of pdas
Awesome product, almost to the par of Oberon cases. I have one on my wife's old Nook but looks great.
There's also http://www.reauthored.com/, which was reviewed on rootzwiki a week ago. Pretty cool stuff but unsure if they will make one for a N7. I haven't asked them yet.
Edit: Looks like they do lol

Why no mention of this case?

So I noticed there's been a lot of talk regarding the Blurex Magyc Folio case (amzn.c0m/B008D2Q8RG) but I am amazed no one has picked up on Blurex's other case for the Nexus 7, the Ultraslim model (amzn.c0m/B008D2POAS).
Based on the pictures, the case looks MUCH slimmer than most of the other cases here. It also doesn't cover the bezel, much like the Moko and Poetic. Furthermore, it has the on/off magnetic sleep feature. And guess what? The case is only $5!!
Seriously, am I missing something? Why has there been little to no talk of this case? And since it is sold by Prestige Milano, the official Blurex reseller, the possibly of it being fake is out of the question...This seems like the real deal.
That's because my Nexus 7 hasn't arrive for me to use this case. I got this. It's so cool looking. I have the Blurex Magyc Folio Case. And I'm mad you found this for $5. I spent $10. And yes I'm complaining about not being able to save $5. LoL!!
Glad to hear I'm not the only one! So could I ask, did you also buy yours from Prestige Milano and can you post any pics by any chance
Blurex has a really nice customer support and they ship to Canada for 6 bucks!

Anyone else bought/received this item? And still no answer as to why this case has been ignored (which is evident by the lack of responses in this thread). Am I missing something? Is there a catch to this case?
First of all, you use the same link twice for the Amazon item (the incorrect one for the case you're talking about). Maybe correct that so folks know what you're talking about. Secondly, that case is talked about plenty, though from different value added resellers. With that said, $5 + $2.60 shipping each is pretty darn good when compared against the wholesale price direct from China.

Thanks for pointing that out! I've edited my first post to include the correct link.
This is pretty much the same case I have for my Fire. It's a great case for the money. However, when I search for B008D2POAS, I see the case for $5. When I click on it the price goes to $9.99. LOL - I did that twice to verify, now I just did it again and it shows $9.99. Sometimes shopping at Amazon is like day trading
Anyway, with the shipping it puts the case into the same range as the other Bluerex case and some others.
I ordered this one which is pretty much the same exact case when it was $5 last week:

Do you mean mention like in this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751662
Both Blurex, all three threads I mean, mention the folio and the one you linked is the "newer" version. I was sent an email from Alex telling me they had an issue with the 600 in stock units. The wake magnet is too strong and would sleep the unit if you folded the "stand" back a lot..
The one you mention was the exact one I asked Blurex about in particular, he had to set it to no stock, until they fixed them. They were $5.00 originally (last week) - Guessing they fixed them, and raised the price to about double for the fix..
It's very similar to these;

Just picked up the Blurex Ultraslim model. You're right in that it looks much slimmer than the Blurex Magyc Folio. Also, I like that the Ultraslim model doesn't cover the bezel which I think looks really tacky.
Not impressed. While it is slimmer than the case that fellow employee got, this does not include the magic magnet, and it covers the bezel edges making it more difficult to use.
Note that it never said it included the magnet, and I never assumed it would, but since the case makes reaching the buttons including power button harder, the lack of such a feature makes using it much harder. Also, it is hard to use the unit near the edges of the screen because the case is in the way.
My wife has informed me she is getting a Nexus 7 now (guess who is buying it), she can use this when she gets it. In the meantime, I will stick with the sleeve that I've been using.

Seidio said no, what now for a rugged case?

So Seidio said they have come to a decision on the Nexus 10. They will not be making a case for it. :crying:
What now? Gumdrop haven't brought one out. I don't know if they are considering it. Otterbox don't have one either (I hate them anyway). And the poetic revolution looks cheap & nasty. The BobJ one isn't from a tried & tested company so makes me nervous. What are other rugged case fans doing with their tablets?
I'm at a loss too and frankly it kinda pisses me off. My wife is pissed I sold her ipad 1 because it was slow and the browser crashed all the time, just to get a nexus that is buggy as **** and crashes all the time, like frequent full on crashes. To top it off, there's no such thing as a decent case for it and probably won't be for a long time. I had a sweet otterbox for the ipad, why the **** does the world have to revolve around damn apple products. Why are there 500 awesome cases in 500 colors available 5 months before a new ipad is even announced.
And why the **** does Google have such a buggy ass flagship device.
Fix this buggy PoS and give me a damn rugged case already. A quality one. Not another one of these damn flippy magnet cheap flimsy cases that are all copies of each other.

Where is the love?
I'm kinda Pi&&ed too!! I figured that Google would have accessories available for their Flagship device. We get NO LOVE from the manufacturers like the freaking iPad does!!! Only cheap crappy covers for a device that is suppose to be cutting edge. I just bought a Noreve cover and it's nice, but it's the only cover I have found that is nice, there are no other choices that are as high a quality. I will certainly think twice before purchasing my next device from Google, not to mention the other "glitches"...
Not meaning to be bossy but is there any possibility we could just get back to discussing rugged case alternatives for the Nexus 10.

I agree hissy fits won't get us anywhere haha. It is true about the lack of quality cases for our Nexus 10 right now. I haven't seen a good name brand one yet. Hoping for a good flip cover that just covers the screen not the back.

Sorry - missed that. A shame that one isn't coming out from Otterbox or Seido. I've got the extended convert combo on my GNex now -- fantastic -- and I could easily see me using something like that on my N10. Still haven't settled on a case myself yet. Still using a neoprene slip case I picked up on day one from Five Below (as you can imagine, it cost me $5). Protects the N10 fairly well when I'm carrying it or not using it, but it's clearly a temporary measure. Really not excited by any of the case options out there -- only one that looks appealing to me is the Noreve Tradition, but I'm not about to spend $110 on a tablet case. Ah well...the search continues.
After the terrible quality of the Poetic Slimcase I will not get another poetic case. Very rarely have I seen a case that does damage to the device its trying to protect.

That's a shame -- I like the overall design of the case, but hesitate to order it based on those reports and the comments that it's SO tight. Disappointing too, in that my son has the same model case on his Nexus 7, and it's excellent: perfect fit - not too tight or loose, no damage to the tablet, very convenient, nicely finished. My son tends to be pretty hard on his belongings (6'4" teenager), uses the tablet several times a day, and the case is holding up beautifully so far. If I thought the experience would be the same for the Nexus 10, I'd order one now.

It really is. I freaked out when I saw the display sticking up in the right corner and had memories of the nexus 7 screen lift issue. Took it off and pressed the screen back in. I'm using the origami roocase now which is much better.

I wish stores like Staples and Walmart would stock some of these cases so we could actually see them close up and try them - and return them immediately if necessary without having to ship back and forth. It was great to get my N10 locally from Walmart, and I'd love to be able to do that with accessories too.

The Poetic Revolution case may LOOK cheap and nasty, but it is certainly not. I own it, and have used it every single day for three months. I'm also Active Duty, so trust me when I tell you it gets plenty of use...far beyond what it was originally designed to handle, I'm sure. Now, Its no Seidio Active case but it sure aint bad for $20. The ONLY bad things I can say about it is that it comes with a built-in heavy duty screen protector that is just garbage, and it bulks up the tablet a bit (which i actually like) Thankfully however, the cheesy screen protector punches out very easily. Get an ArmorSuit Military Shield screen protector to go with it and be done with it.
Bright side is you're only out $30 or so until somebody makes a better case. How much to replace that big 10.1 inch screen if you drop it without the $30 case?

I’d like to get one too!
I would recommend this if you are wanting complete protection while in envelope

There is some pretty sweet vids on YouTube of their D3O material
Edit

Interesting. The Amazon listing says leather in the title, but refers to ballistic nylon and 3do in the description. If it's really the original leather and 3do case for $5 that's great. Anyone know? Also... How do the dimensions line up with the N10?
EDIT: see post #7 in this thread -- I got the case and was extremely disappointed. Not worth $5.
I do t have this one... But I do have one of their cases for my iPhone 3gs and it is pretty indestructible.

Yes -- I remember seeing the demo videos for Tech21 and d30. Very impressive stuff. This appears to be a great price. From what I can see, it looks like the long dimension would be about 1/2" longer than the Nexus 10, and the narrow dimension about 1" greater than the narrow dimension of the Nexus 10. The case is definitely a bit oversized. However if it's leather, with two layers of d30, it would be a pretty fantastic case / sleeve for $5...
Edit: I searched some more, and it appears that the same d3o case is being sold on different sites anywhere from $5 to $45. For $5 including shipping, I figured it's worth a risk. If it's leather with d3o that will be a fantastic deal. If it's ballistic nylon with d3o then it's still a good deal. Already shipped. I should have it next week. Really curious!

Ugh... Just received it. Very disappointing. I really like Tech21 cases and D3O, but this case seems like a poor imitation. There's orange fabric inside, but it's loose and wrinkled, and it seems that there's no D3O under the fabric. Bad production run? Fake? Defective D3O that dried up? No idea, but I recommend against getting this. Also: despite the measurements, the Nexus 10 does NOT fit in this case.
Total waste.

Oh well, I guess no need to look forward to receiving the package I ordered one Friday. Thought it would be a nice sleeve since I plan on keeping it naked in the house, guess I'll get one from SFbag.
What about some of the cases on etsy.com? Handmade and seems fairly well made.

Yes - quite a variety on Etsy and some of them look very nice. Comparing with SFBags and Waterfield Designs -- if I were opting for a high quality sleeve, I'd lean toward the Waterfield Designs products from SFBags for a couple of reasons:
- The sleeves are explicitly made and sized precisely for the Nexus 10. Most of the sleeves on Etsy state that they are for "Nexus 10 or iPad", which leads me to believe that they're either wrong, or the sleeves are only an approximate fit. The Waterfield sleeves are designed specifically to be just snug enough so the tablet doesn't fall out, but not so tight that the N10 is difficult to remove -- they illustrate this well in the videos on the website.
- The Waterfield sleeves include dense padding, along with a rigid screen protector under the padding and fabric. It doesn't come in contact with your Nexus 10, but it helps protect the screen from shock when it's in the case. Seems like better protection to me.
After that, it comes down to personal preference, design, materials and price.

I received mine today and I got a folio case for a Galaxy tab 10.1 from tmobile lol.. The funny thing is I wish it was for the Nexus as its a very nice case. Its not worth the hassle of contacting Amazon about it but I'm guessing the seller is counting on people thinking that way.

The more closely I looked at what I received, the clearer it was that the vendor misrepresented what he was selling. I was annoyed enough to write a review, post some pictures at Amazon, and also file a complaint. Interestingly enough, the seller contacted me within 48 hours and put in for a full refund (all of $5), which Amazon confirmed the next day.

In contrast, I also purchased the Moko Slim Fit multi-angle case -- NOT the "PU Leather" version for $6, but I found they sell a true/genuine leather version for $21 -- with zero cost for 2 day shipping if you have Prime (I love Prime!). Anyway - the Moko genuine leather case is excellent. Fits perfectly, doesn't obstruct anything, very nicely finished and looks great. Ieave it on day and night -- and love it.Here's a link to the product:

Portenzo Cases for the N10

Portenzo, a premium case manufacturer, just released their cases for the Nexus 10 today. I have the BookCase for my Nexus 7 and love it. I'll probably be ordering one for my 10 soon. http://shop.portenzo.com/nexus-10/
Oh ho.... So tempting. Just concerned about the lack of a Pogo opening... How hard is it to insert/remove? Would it hold its grip after being removed/inserted many times over?

Good News
Finally a quality case for the Nexus 10...I'm tired of the cheap stuff on Amazon..:victory:
Cases on Amazon are cheap but they work. How can anyone justify paying $110 for a case? I'd rather buy a Moko case for $6 and invest the remaining $104 on my next toy.

Agreed, I think that's ridiculous and they don't even look that great. That's just an opinion though
I've been waiting for either this or the never-will-be-released-by-google case that you see in the official videos. I can't justify spending over a hundred dollars, but I'll definitely be getting the standard book case.
I was reading that Google is looking to open some retail stores.... Given the fact that they release next to no accessories for their Nexus products, I'm trying to figure out how these stores won't be barren wastelands with just a few phones and tablets on display.
Looks nice but I can't even imagine how uncomfortable it is

I 100% agree with you. I use the Moko ultra slim (currently $5.99 on Amazon) and it's fantastic. To each his own I guess.
I am certainly considering getting the leather case for it.
I am more wondering if the next Nexus 10 will have similar dimensions that I can just reuse this case for.
What do you guys think the odds are that google will change the dimensions of their next 10.1 device or two?
This case has the gel inside the corners to hold the tablet in place, I would venture you could put something smaller in there and the gel would still allow for a relatively snug fit.
Good lord. More than a hundred for a case? I bought my used 32gb nexus 7 for 175. I got two Moko cases for 12 bucks.

That thing is an inch thick. Why? Might as well carry a leather binder and just throw the tablet in there. Then you at least have some business cards, a pen, etc.

The tablet sits in a wood base, that's probably why it is so thick.

I sooooo want one, but I configured it up past $180!
I purchased one yesterday. Decided to get the bookcase over the leather one.
The leather looked amazing, but I felt I would get more bang for my buck with the bookcase.
At first I thought the bookcase was made of the fake pleather that most other cases has, but really, its meant to be built just like a hardcover book which is pretty cool.
When I get it I will let you guys know what I think.
I look at it this way. Just to get an opening for the camera costs the same as my perfectly functional poetic slimline....
.....I'll pass
Just got mine today...VERY nice case...it is the quality I was looking for in a case. The Nexus fits snugly with no problems and all the buttons and ports are accessible. If you can get passed the price you won't be disappointed...
