Heard some crazy news just now about a future device for Sprint - Off-topic

So I was chatting with a friend earlier and he was telling me that Samsung is planning on releasing a new device on the Sprint Network that will be the successor to the Epic 4G/SPH-D700. Its code is apparently SPH-D705. This is just leaked info I heard.

The model number has been floating around since January of this year

[Q] Rogers Release Date

I've seen a couple people on here claim that rogers will be getting the captivate on August 20th, but I havn't been able to find ANYTHING online that backs that up.
All of the info ive found on the release date say mid september.
which makes sense since froyo is also coming out mid september...maybe rogers will release the captivate with froyo.

I remember reading somewhere from a person working for Rogers or at a Rogers store that August 20th is the new release date. They were planning to release it mid September originally, but the release of Galaxy S phone on Telus and Vibrant on Bell has speeded that up. Probably the sources you looked at are still based on the older information. We'll see who is right in a few days.
I did see a link somewhere that said the 20th, but I have since not been able to find it. So maybe it means that rogers backpeddled on the date. I really hope it comes out soon so we can try that radio file on ours to see if it enables HSUPA.
If it comes out on the 20th ill be extremely happy.
i see nothing at Rogers stores yet
look at the date
they will not release SGS until the end of the year, else it will instantly kill their Iphone4 sales

Naw, some will still want their geebees and wifies.

What! I thought sprint is getting the Galaxy Note too?

So sprint didn't get the contract?

The rumor is that it would be announced alongside the new nexus...ces officially starts tomorrow i believe.

I would very much doubt it. Because carriers have to redevelop phones with CDMA radios for US carriers, and those phones are usable in so few markets, it is much more expensive per unit to build and market a CDMA device than to create a GSM variant and allow customers all over the world to buy it and pop in a SIM. I'm actually surprised AT&T and Samsung bothered to develop an AT&T version of the note when the global version seems to be working so well. I guess kudos to AT&T for giving people a subsidized version with a US warranty.
That said, I would love the Note on Sprint, whether it's WiMax or eventually LTE. If they released it I would wait in line to get one.
AT&T could have gotten an exclusive for the initial release of the Note. So after it's released on AT&T we can hopefully expect it on Sprint. OR Sprint wanted CES to be about LTE and The Note will end up being Wimax...who knows
It wasn't even confirmed, it was a wild rumor. That said, it may appear sometime down the line.

Will All Updates Be The Same?

I think this is the big question we all have here, am I right?
There are supposed to be only two SKUs for the Nexus 6 (one for the Americas and one for international markets) but with it now being available in so many carrier stores and the Google Play Store it's starting to get a bit messy and confusing.... which is what truly worries me. Yes there have been complaints about the price going up, but that's not necessarily what the Nexus program was about to me. It was about unhindered, uninfluenced Android coming down the pike when Google said so. No complication. Now with more and more carrier involvement I am wondering is this still gonna be the same?
I was thrilled last year when Sprint was capable of using the Nexus 5 Play Store edition and was also excited that they got the phone to carry in stores as well. And it didn't have any problems with updates or anything that I saw. However, now I'm getting a bit worried.
What do y'all think? Would Google really release this phone on all these carriers if they couldn't control update releases on each phone? I mean they are all the same SKU.
The 805 in the Nexus is the only Qualcomm kit to have a discreet modem. I say it was an intentional deal struck between Googlrola and the carriers. Google does OS updates. Carriers only update radio/modem specific updates.

Official Release Date For 6.0 ,Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge

I talked to an at&t rep today and theres some news you need to know. Both the S6 and S6 edge will receive the 6.0.1 marshmallow update on April 4th, 2016. This is true because he checked his information and said that date according to at&t. I hope you are at least a gain from being grumpy about the slow update! Peace out and have fun!
Cause all the other reps have been spot on when they checked. Too...

Sweet, days after I get a new phone and switch carriers because by the time anyone from AT&T gets an update it's months old.
Yay! This is probably wrong too.... By the time AT&T releases the update, I will already have a Nexus phone!

Samsung already released the 6.0 update awhile back. It's AT&T who is not releasing anything.
Yeah... I'll just check until it allows me to download an update, it was the 14, then 15, now you speculate the 4th.
Don't believe what their reps say anymore.
Enjoying my S6 Edge 6.0.1 on Tmobile.

Too Little Too Late Sprint

Finally Sprint has released Pie! I layed down for a nap today (needed one especially after the Holidays), get up and notice my phone stating there is an OS update. I am now running Pie but what's funny is my wife and I switched to Verizon today, we're waiting for our new phones to be shipped to us before we quit Sprint.
I loved my V40 but it was both LG and Sprint that made us switch. The update service is total garbage. I would get monthly security updates once every 2-3 months and not getting Pie on a flagship phone only until like a year later is garbage. My wife and I literally have no service on Sprint in our new area and rely on wifi for everything on our phones. Now I wait a few days to get my new Galaxy S10+. No more LG and no more Sprint.
Welp it's time to say goodbye to the LG V40 forums and hello to S10+. Got my new S10+ today and switched to Verizon.
I'm enjoying the new Android 10 OS ?
