[How To][For Newbs] Unlock, Root and Install Nameless ROM on HTC Desire C by Aircombat
If you make or find any pieces of development for this phone please PM me with a link and I will add.

My desire C just arrived today. Do I need to unlock bootloader? I will be cooking roms once I get used to this phone, I'm just afraid of bricks cause this have emmc chip, not like the wildfire s I pull battery whenever I want when cooking roms.

Overclocking
Has anyone tried overclocking this phone yet? I am really new to much of this custom rom/rooting stuff so I wouldn't even know if there was a basic way to overclock easily.
Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

Ive successfully compiled kernel with ndk problem is it lacks 2 modules ath6kl_sdio and compat also it have 24 modules compiled that is not needed. Those 2 missing modules are required to run wifi, but it boots. Desire c Source code must be messed up.

Got the Wifi working now, and the Desire C is running at 800mhz, seems stable to me.
Struggling to get past 800, I'm not sure whether theres a lockdown somewhere.

the golf kernel source code doesn't have this folder drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath6kl/sdio.c so how can it compile it see here did you have 4 modules built including compat.ko?

Couldn't we simply use the wifi modules from the Stock ROM?

Are you saying your phones capacitive buttons do not light up or are you asking for on-screen buttons?

the capacitive buttons do not light up

I do not think they are supposed to. Mine won't light too.

i just read this>> http://www.htcforums.com/other-htc-devices/10828-htc-desire-c-home-keys-not-lighting-up-2.html
so i dont know what the hell it has or not

Just checked the thread you gave.
I'm really disappointed by the HTC guys. Straight answer would be great, but instead of that they don't even know what the hell is happening.

i think wee need to disassemble our device to see if it has LEDs behind the touch or it is soft related problem )

Try using this app to toggle the lights on: http://localhostr.com/download/rXV2Pmu/KeyLights-0.2.apk
Should hopefully show if the lights work or not.

Added Stamford Kernel to the OP

Nope it wont work, modules are to be compiled with kernel, otherwise it would be error.

Hello developers will be possible that our Sense HTC Wildfire may have ICS?
Porting sense 4 from the original desire C ruu: Not possible
Porting it from other ARMv6 devices: Possible.
I know the hero and WFS have both got it booting. So if you want to investigate into porting it. Go ahead.
I think that the phone name is desire c.... However our best bet is to wait for a port to an arm6 device (there is a work in progress in wildfire s forum) because desire c is arm7 and a port would be very difficult..

I think it was going to be called the Wildfire C, but then HTC renamed it to the Desire C. To make it seem like a premium device on a budget. (I guess). The WFS thread is a mess of flaming and trolling, and its been closed. So any updates won't be going on there. Although, someone managed to shrink the RUU down enough to fit the WFS partition sizes.

Nothing is impossible, that's how we've got sense 2.1, sense 3.5, gingerbread and ICS on our phone. Once it gets ported to another ARMv6 device, we can work from there.

somebody check it ruu?
Hi all,
The thread was locked indeed but we are now discussing the ROM on the leaked ruu thread. We have it booting to boot animation however audio/power is causing dalvik to fail, and causes a bootloop.
You could always look at our github to see what we have changed/added/improved/fixed. We will be doing this for the marvel (Wildfire S) and as soon as it boots we will inform you asap.
We are looking for a bit of help so if you see something obvious that we have missed then send us a pull request over github.

how we can run this without a kernel 3?
someone should port drivers or create them
and this phone is too old,i think noone will do something like this
it s too difficult
just think this: desire s has a kernel 3 and sense 4 is working fine, but it has A LOT OF problems(crash,freeze,semi-functionl things)
i don t think our phone can support it with sense,we at least should have a fully working cm9 first
i think

I've been following the thread in the WFS dev section. Will replacing libs from sense 4.0 with CM9/AOSP Libs solve any issues. Or have you already tried that? Could it be a conflict between Beats Audio and the power management driver? Would you have to sacrifice beats to get it working?

Yeah we have replaced the libs, and yes we may have to sacrifice beats audio, although we could also used modified beats libs that were ported to AOSP, but i'm not sure that would integrate it with the onboard beats on/off system :/
Even if we were able to make this possible for our device, it would be unbearably laggy and slow. In my opinion its not worth doing it although its not bad trying. My opinion

It depends. While ICS can suffer from some slowdown on our device (Atleast at stock clockspeed). It is still usable and can still perform well. As we've seen with Sense 2.1 Gingerbread on the wildfire. It is very fast. And I mean, as fast as stock froyo sense. Which is nothing like CM7 is. So maybe Sense 4 will be even fast and optimized?
Sense 2.1 is not fully working
And ics need a kernel 3
And we don t have enought ram to run this
so it work or don't work?

Well. Clearly we don't. Because we have ICS with Camera, Bluetooth, WiFi-Tethering working on a 2.6 kernel. Besides, we can use MTD partitions if we don't have enough for the rom. Because we have 512mb of rom. So we can allocate that with MTD partitions.

Agreed with Justice, the kernel is NOT the issue here, it's simply getting the correct patches to interface the software with the older chipset and HAL, or so I think?

Bashing away at my HTC Desire C
need FM app that could work with Cyanogenmod 10 on my desire C
hi all i have recently got my desire c rooted which was succesful. so i decided to move on a srep further and got to a more advance level and try out custom ROM so i searched abt it and found Cyanogenmod10 to be the most popular and also one of the most supported ROM by developers so i Managed to install all the things properly and now I curreently have CM10 with android 4.1.2 which i great all the things work great and specially the battery life i mean cant even think that my phone had such a long battery life which was possible to acheive with CM10 now i have wifi 3g some gaming and music on all the time since past 1week from the time i got CM10 the battery lasts 1full day plus 3-4 hours more. whereas with stock rom it lasted only 7-8hrs.So CM10 works great inshort.
Now comming to a problem which i faced with CM10- NO FM RADIO app. i did not think abt it earlier but now after flashing i came to know CM does not come with FM . so i did search on net and found Spirit Unlocked and Spirit2 which are 3rd party app as most of you might know for FM radio. and i tried it and the both dnt work at all ,i can install them both but no FM service its just like a app installed it opens and nothing runs no radio works with these two also.
So i thought that if som1could help me with it.what i thought was to get the apk file for FM from stock HTC Desire C rom and try it on my phone with Cm10 but only problem i that where can i get the stock apk file for HTC desire c FM ? can som1 provide me that file ? so i can try it?
thanks :good:
AweSome Thanks !!!!!
Thanks !!
:laugh:Better Then One click Root Apps:angel:
If it's not been added in a CM ROM then it'll probably not work, others have already asked about it.
If you want stock app your best bet is download an update, extract files and extract the system (not forgetting to Deodexed it).
If memory serves me correctly, I'm not sure it's known where in the device tree it sits so no known place of drivers

The data button works just fine i just can't limit the internet cause of the Usage button not working. Also random restarts with Data on.

Gingerbread on HTC Desire C

First off I'm new here so hi guys
Just wondering if there are any Gingerbread roms for the HTC Desire C? I am interested in making a speed and battery life comparison for myself rather than asking people. I have tried installing CM 7.1 and 7.2 (they produce a black screen on boot even with correct boot.img).
I apologize in advance if a thread did slip past me, I *did* use the search function, can't find anything else though.
Thanks
