[APP] Latest Google Wallet Aug/01/2012 - Nexus S Themes and Apps

Pulled this from my Nexus 7. Works on my Nexus S running latest Jellybro Kang. Thought I would share as this version lets you use more than just a Citi or prepaid card.
Version R1.5-R75-v6.apk

I'm not on the nexus s, but do you know if this will work without a data connection? I know the n7 doesn't need one but my gnex does. I'm wondering if you need data for this version to work on a phone.

I keep getting a error when opening the app. Says "movie network or phone not supported" how do I fix this? I'm using adamg jellybelly!
Sent from my Nexus S

Maybe I should give it a try.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled. No issues here. Also, I believe it does need data as payment info is stored in the cloud instead of the device itself.

Hmmm... I wonder why it works for the nexus 7 but wouldn't work like that for a phone. I tried to use wallet on my phone in a store the other day and in the middle of authentication I lost signal and had to start over. I may test pulling the wallet apk off my n7 and try installing on my phone to see if it works the same. Thanks guys!

How about networks other than Sprint and AT&T?
Does anybody know if this works on T-Mobile or other "blocked" networks?
Currently I am running the version patched by MoDaCo (1.1-R63-v12 See this thread) on my T-Mobile Nexus S. Unfortunately, this revision doesn't implement the new functionality to use cards other than Mastercard.
Does anyone know if the new apk still contains the device and carrier checks? If so then us T-Mobile people will still need a patched version.

yes it does contain the device/carrier checks... though you could always just try... instead of waiting for an answer... you would have known 5 minutes ago...

I just successfully installed it on my rooted T-Mobile Nexus S. Everything seems to be working fine. That Unsupported Device banner at the top is still there though. I haven't gone out to test it at a payment terminal yet.

The unsupported device warning is because your phone is rooted.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
I've been trying tutorials and tricks to get Wallet to install, to no avail, for >hour. This worked perfectly. Can't wait to try it with my Visa card now that they're supported.

Just tried it on the aokp kang on my i9020t on T-Mobile and got insecure element. Had to flash my nandroid that had 1.1 r41v8 installed which is really old unfortunately. Would love to get a newer version working...

Thanks for this. Installed fine and got my cards added on Kali's CM10... Now just have to try it out and see if I can still make purchases.

Unfortunately Google wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile Carrier
Anyone know how to get past this?

Installed on my VZN Nexus with the little banner due to I'm rooted and it seems to work just fine. Let me register, etc. I just have not tried it out at a store yet. We don't have to many places that accept it (or I just don't but a few).
Oh, thanks for the updated .apk Not sure why Verizon is such a [email protected]#$ and not let us use it.

Do unrooted people that are side loading the app still get the message because it wasent installed directly from the app store? I'm scared to do it with the message I would hate to be robbed and have Google tell me eh your rooted.

Unrooted shouldn't see it. I can't confirm tho... my phones been rooted from day one. Maybe someone with stock ROM can chime in and help more.

Nope. When they check up, it's usually just the IMEI. They ask what you're using (KB1, JH7...) but they assume most don't even know what that means or where to find that info.
I recently have called them from my phone and they didn't mention anything about it not being stock. When I look at my account online from my computer it still shows the captivate.

I'd be careful with Cyanogen though. When I flashed Cyanogen, I received an e-mail from Google saying "Welcome to Nexus S!". I didn't check, but I wouldn't be surprised as AT&T started listing my number online as a Nexus S or some other random Android phone that isn't the Captivate.
In fact, that same question occurred to me today, because I'm running Cyanogen on my HTC Inspire and I need to dial in so they can set up my Voicemail (for some reason, whenever I switch phones my voicemail gets screwed up).

Are you sure you got it on cyanogen, and not on supercurios port? Because the cm rom has correct model numbers, where as supercurios port is a direct rip from the Nexus S.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
The email you receive is not from at&t and is just because the rom uses nexus s market foot print.
Sent from my Captivate using XDA Premium App
The answer is almost certainly no. There is a capability using device management tools to report back ROM details but right now the care reps don't have any access to it or any procedures that use it. They don't even have access to your IMEI so don't worry about custom ROMs unless you are physically returning the device.

What's more, based on my experiences with the Customer Service reps, most of them wouldn't care. The Front Office might, if you had to send in your phone, but every CS rep I've ever talked to has been mighty laid-back about the "rules."

I realize that. But because of the fact that it uses the Nexus S market footprint, it would also (logically) use the same Nexus S footprint over the AT&T network. Otherwise, what you said makes no sense.

Oh gosh that is so far from wrong it's not funny. "Care reps", otherwise known as technicians who fix your problems have every right to access your IMEI number without your consent. Your phone's IMEI is stored by AT&T as a ref number, and can be accessed from the AT&T database at any given time, even by the technicians.

There is an IMEI record for the device you purchased NOT what you are actually using on the network. There is also a TAC reference collected by OTA whenever the SIM goes into a new device, but the care reps (industry standard term, btw) have no scripts using it as far as I know. For example, AT&T still reports me as having a Bold 9700 on my 1st line when it has actually been a Cappy since August. Bottom line, AT&T generally doesn't give a crap what device you use.

Fot the OP I doubt they can tell....even less they don't care. I used the sim from an old Sony dumb phone in my old unlocked Nokia N79...and used an unlimited data plan for $15 and tethered.
So yeah, don't worry.

It will say this if you are rooted. Yes.
But it does NOT affect functionality.
Wallet will work just fine.
That rooted message is just a Google disclaimer.
I'm rooted and running CM10 and I used it today no problem.
It says its an unsupported device because you are rooted and they won't be held accountable if some app empties your wallet. It still works great though. Google paid for my lunch yet again!

do you have a credit card with the little 'wifi' symbol on it (not sure what it's called).. this means your actual credit card has a NFC chip in it.
i have a Chase card, which has this.
every time i lay my Galaxy Nexus on top of my wallet, the NFC Reader app (market) i have installed, picks it up right away.
Works on mine. Took a long time to finish setting up.

Pasting my own post from another forum:
-----------------------
I have rooted and unlocked my Nexus 7, and yes, when setting google wallet after all that, I did get my $10 prepaid credit, and then I updated to the latest Google wallet version that allows you to register any type of credit card (visa, amex, etc). Which I did.
I went to the store just with the intention to pay with my tabblet, and it worked!!! And yes, I also got the "unsupported warning" for being rooted, but that does not stop the app from working perfectly. The selected card for that transaction was the credit card I registered, and I didn't have an internet connection for the transaction to be completed succesfully (very cool).
I haven't done a transaction with the prepaid $10 credit yet, but it should be no problem since I think it's even less complex than what I did above.

Cheers.

Los Angeles. It ran before this update, so it's hard to imagine my location has anything to do with it.
I did find a few posts on other sites, like Android forums and AT&T's, for the same issue. Since nobody has complete info, we're all coming to different conclusions.
On AT&T's forum, they think it won't run because Wallet only has an agreement with Sprint. Obviously, my nexus 7 dispels that theory.
People on Verizon are speculating the same thing.
I've tried uninstalling both the update, and the entire app.
I've tried temporarily turning off root.
Still no workie.

[Q] nexus and google wallet

Sorry folks VERY new to all of this and looking for simple answers form the experts.
my questions is that my Nexus 7 now tells me that google wallet is not supported now that I have rooted my device yet it lets me log in to the service. Is it not going to work when I find an active pay station? If not is there a work around of sorts?
Thanks MUCH in advance!

FYI, the screen has to be on for NFC to work unless you have a custom rom or a hack to have it on while off. Got me a few times.

unsupported device is because its not a sprint rom. it will work anyway. most likely the stores issue. i findthey are iffy at 7-11's and walgreens with google wallet.
When Google Wallet says unsupported device, that's just Google's warning to you that your phone is rooted and using Wallet may not be advisable when rooted. It should not affect the functionality of Google Wallet at all though, you should still be able to use it like normal.

Unable to beam webpages via NFC after update.

Is there anyone that else having issues beaming apps or webpages to other devices via NFC after updating to 4.4.2? I get a transfer error message that says unable to transfer URL via NFC. Sprint and HTC have both said they haven't heard of any known issues... Until I updated the store demo HTC one and showed the repair technician. I guess I'm trying to find out if these are isolated incidents or something that will be a known issue.

It worked on 4.3. On the store demo phone, we had tested it to make sure it worked before the update and verified that it stopped working after. The Sprint tech said he had submitted a trouble ticket. I also reported it to HTC and they are "going to call" me back in 3-5 days. Just curious as to how long before they fix it.

I tested Skype. Seems ok to me. Then again I had uninstalled it and reinstalled it for something else prior to you saying something about it. Another thing I noticed with this update is that the 4G icon will disappear while on a call. I can still use data while on the call. It's just that before it let me know data was available. Now it was making me think that doing both wasn't an option anymore.

Turns out the Skype thing was because of the other device. As far as I can see, this update brought us only bad things. NFC not fully working, battery life sucks compared to 4.3... Only improvements are easy change of SMS default app and some visual improvements. I want my battery life back!
