[Q] nexus and google wallet - Nexus 7 General

Sorry folks VERY new to all of this and looking for simple answers form the experts.
my questions is that my Nexus 7 now tells me that google wallet is not supported now that I have rooted my device yet it lets me log in to the service. Is it not going to work when I find an active pay station? If not is there a work around of sorts?
Thanks MUCH in advance!

It is just a warning that you are rooted. It will still work.

Oh ok thanks!! Never used it yet but love everythhing to work!!
This is my first time rooting and checking it all out on my Nexus 7 before I decide to root my S3.
Thanks again!!

FYI, the screen has to be on for NFC to work unless you have a custom rom or a hack to have it on while off. Got me a few times.

New Verizon Tab - EC02. Screwed?

Hi, I just purchased a Verizon Tab from someone on Craigslist and it has the EC02 applied. I'm quite certain that the person that I purchased it from did not have the device rooted. I am thinking about trying SuperOneClick with Keis but am afraid that I'll end up with a bricked Tab...
I've tried searching on Google and it seems that EC02 has not been broken yet . Is there anything that I can do to root my Tab? Thanks in advance.
I have eco2 and im rooted. I used super one click root. Takes like 2 min.

Wow, did the secret activation bypass and I'm good. Time to root!

The wifi updatehas been out for two days now. Couldnt get it through check updates. Followed another link from the forum. I think 4g can be gotten the same way.
anyone have a link so we can ping the f4ck out of it.. lol
is this the correct one... http://mobileupdate.dell.com/landingPages/LG7/dell US/uptodate/en/index.html ...??
Folks,
Here is the US WiFi download official link
http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GLUNB1A334430
I really hope the 4G gets it, but based on everything to this point, really don't think it will. T-Mobile does not want the headache... Again, hope I'm wrong...
Still nothing for my US wifi model GLUNB1A133830... I know i could update it with the other wifi number link, but i want to see if it eventually comes & also figure out why this OEM wifi version was last if possible.
yeah im waiting for GLUNB1A133830 too i know i can just update it manually but I'd much rather be safe than sorry. If I don't get an update notification today I will end up installing it manually, because I really cant wait any longer.

Hey did you buy your 7 direct from dell or a retail store amazon, staples etc?
Its been out for a couple days now.
Also the kernel just got released as well, so if you are really patient, a certain developer will have an overclock capable version out soon.
I bought mine off Amazon.

Yep you think that they were just older builds that sat around for a while?

I just used the link from FredOak3 to upgrade and had no problems. Most of my installed apps were still there after the update. Now I have Honeycomb on my Streak 7 and I'm happy. Thanks for the link FredOak3
So no one has seen the T-Mobile 4G update yet?

Does Root Allow Google Wallet

Does Google Wallet work on a rooted N7?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I believe so but I'm in the UK so I don't know 100%.

For me it doesn't, it says unsupported device on the top at the credit card screen

You can use something like ota rootkeeper which will allow you to use it.

It will say this if you are rooted. Yes.
But it does NOT affect functionality.
Wallet will work just fine.
That rooted message is just a Google disclaimer.
I'm rooted and running CM10 and I used it today no problem.
It says its an unsupported device because you are rooted and they won't be held accountable if some app empties your wallet. It still works great though. Google paid for my lunch yet again!

Yes..
do you have a credit card with the little 'wifi' symbol on it (not sure what it's called).. this means your actual credit card has a NFC chip in it.
i have a Chase card, which has this.
every time i lay my Galaxy Nexus on top of my wallet, the NFC Reader app (market) i have installed, picks it up right away.
Works on mine. Took a long time to finish setting up.

Pasting my own post from another forum:
-----------------------
I have rooted and unlocked my Nexus 7, and yes, when setting google wallet after all that, I did get my $10 prepaid credit, and then I updated to the latest Google wallet version that allows you to register any type of credit card (visa, amex, etc). Which I did.
I went to the store just with the intention to pay with my tabblet, and it worked!!! And yes, I also got the "unsupported warning" for being rooted, but that does not stop the app from working perfectly. The selected card for that transaction was the credit card I registered, and I didn't have an internet connection for the transaction to be completed succesfully (very cool).
I haven't done a transaction with the prepaid $10 credit yet, but it should be no problem since I think it's even less complex than what I did above.

Cheers.

quick question do you have the wallet app open when you are checking out cause the when i tried it didn't work but it worked perfectly fine at MD and a vending machine so i dont know if its the store card reader or what
Well, can anyone explain why, on my Nexus 7 and HTC EVO LTE, both our which are rooted, Wallet used to at least open, but after this update I just get an error: sorry, wallet does not yet run on this device and on your mobile network"?
Two different devices, two different manufacturers, same error.

I use the hide my root app. I didn't know it would work with it being rooted though. I still like hiding my root until I need it.

Los Angeles. It ran before this update, so it's hard to imagine my location has anything to do with it.
I did find a few posts on other sites, like Android forums and AT&T's, for the same issue. Since nobody has complete info, we're all coming to different conclusions.
On AT&T's forum, they think it won't run because Wallet only has an agreement with Sprint. Obviously, my nexus 7 dispels that theory.
People on Verizon are speculating the same thing.
I've tried uninstalling both the update, and the entire app.
I've tried temporarily turning off root.
Still no workie.

[APP] Latest Google Wallet Aug/01/2012

Pulled this from my Nexus 7. Works on my Nexus S running latest Jellybro Kang. Thought I would share as this version lets you use more than just a Citi or prepaid card.
Version R1.5-R75-v6.apk
I'm not on the nexus s, but do you know if this will work without a data connection? I know the n7 doesn't need one but my gnex does. I'm wondering if you need data for this version to work on a phone.

I keep getting a error when opening the app. Says "movie network or phone not supported" how do I fix this? I'm using adamg jellybelly!

Maybe I should give it a try.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled. No issues here. Also, I believe it does need data as payment info is stored in the cloud instead of the device itself.

Hmmm... I wonder why it works for the nexus 7 but wouldn't work like that for a phone. I tried to use wallet on my phone in a store the other day and in the middle of authentication I lost signal and had to start over. I may test pulling the wallet apk off my n7 and try installing on my phone to see if it works the same. Thanks guys!

How about networks other than Sprint and AT&T?
Does anybody know if this works on T-Mobile or other "blocked" networks?
Currently I am running the version patched by MoDaCo (1.1-R63-v12 See this thread) on my T-Mobile Nexus S. Unfortunately, this revision doesn't implement the new functionality to use cards other than Mastercard.
Does anyone know if the new apk still contains the device and carrier checks? If so then us T-Mobile people will still need a patched version.
yes it does contain the device/carrier checks... though you could always just try... instead of waiting for an answer... you would have known 5 minutes ago...
I just successfully installed it on my rooted T-Mobile Nexus S. Everything seems to be working fine. That Unsupported Device banner at the top is still there though. I haven't gone out to test it at a payment terminal yet.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
I've been trying tutorials and tricks to get Wallet to install, to no avail, for >hour. This worked perfectly. Can't wait to try it with my Visa card now that they're supported.
Just tried it on the aokp kang on my i9020t on T-Mobile and got insecure element. Had to flash my nandroid that had 1.1 r41v8 installed which is really old unfortunately. Would love to get a newer version working...
Thanks for this. Installed fine and got my cards added on Kali's CM10... Now just have to try it out and see if I can still make purchases.

Unfortunately Google wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile Carrier
Anyone know how to get past this?
Installed on my VZN Nexus with the little banner due to I'm rooted and it seems to work just fine. Let me register, etc. I just have not tried it out at a store yet. We don't have to many places that accept it (or I just don't but a few).
Oh, thanks for the updated .apk Not sure why Verizon is such a [email protected]#$ and not let us use it.

Do unrooted people that are side loading the app still get the message because it wasent installed directly from the app store? I'm scared to do it with the message I would hate to be robbed and have Google tell me eh your rooted.

Working Verizon Login key on rooted Nexus 6

Hi to everyone in this forum. I'm a happy owner of a Nexus 6 which is used on Verizon. I'm gonna root my Nexus 6I wanted to know if the Verizon Login key works on a rooted Nexus 6. I had a rooted Galaxy Nexus and had hacked version of the login key. Does anyone know if there is a version for the Nexus 6 or if the version I used on the Galaxy Nexus works on the Nexus 6? I know this is a minor thing but I use the My Verizon Mobile app which is convenient for me. I'd appreciate any help anyone on here can give me.

Edit: just the normal app no hacks or anything
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you need the login key whether you're rooted or not? I ask cuz I downloaded it and I assumed it is why the my Verizon app works.
