Raider doing nothing ! HELP ! - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I have been working with android phones for over a year now and have never had this happen ! I went to the software update in the phone and clicked check now button and it said software update available. So I went ahead and downloaded the software and when it was finished downloading went ahead and started the install and left the phone when I came back to it the screen was black and nothing was happening ! By the way I left the phone for at least 2 hours so I tried turning it on and got nothing I put usb to see if it needed to charge and got orange light but still not turning on. Tried to go into fastboot power volume down and got nothing what is going on with this device why won't it turn on ? What can I do to fix this ? please help me !
Thank you in advance for any help I can get !

Maybe the battery is dead, I'd try a noun charged battery and see if it works then.

No it is not the battery as it will light the back lights when I plug in the usb cord and it also shows the orange charging light until it is fully charged I have now tried the unbricking process but the computer can not see the phone I have to fix this thing soon or else I will have to buy a brick for more than it is worth !
Please if there is anyone who can help me solve this I would be very grateful !

Have you tried to get in hboot ? pull the battery Hold Vol - and then pwr till it opens h boot .

Yes I have tried the unbricking and it can not find bricked device ! This is driving me crazy ! I don't need a brick I have a wood house and fireplace needs no repair I would like phone back !

just one thing I didn't ask , you did pull the battery and tried to hboot ? I know that may be a dumb question but its worth a shot .

I do believe that to get into H-boot with this device you have to remove the battery ! So to answer your question yes I did pull the battery then tried to get into H-boot. And I think that I have also stated that I have been working with android phones for over a year but I think it has been more like two and have rooted and sim unlocked many androids so for this to happen to me at this point is just not acceptable I have a clean record as far as bricks go and would like to keep it like that I have even unbricked phones for people that have bricked them ! Thanks to xda and others for all the help along the way ! I hope someone here can help me solve this !

I did read the first post but it was a few days ago so I have forgotten some , I'm just trying to come up with anything I can to help so I guess I am at a loss and can't help in this situation but I'm sure some one can and hopefully they will .
Good luck hope you get it fixed .

I must thank you for trying and I appreciate the fact that you took the time to respond I also wish that you could have solved this for me but it looks like we both don't know what to do ! Is there anyone else out there that can help ! Or even tell me if I am wasting my time and to put my first brick in the wall ?

Well...im assuming you were stock since you were doing a software update...
So why don't you just send it to HTC? They have a year warrenty on every device that should cover this since it is a software update malfunction...even if it was rooted with custom Roma and a different hboot, they likely wouldn't even know since you can't even get to hboot

This might be an option but I don't know if bootloader was unlocked and don't know if they can tell if it was or not ? And this is not my phone just doing this for a friend and still haven't told her that her phone is a brick ! Sending it to htc would take weeks if not months and she was thinking I would have already returned the phone to her two days ago ! Pulling my hair out and banging my head against the wall needing fix for this !

They won't be able to tell since you can't get in hboot...and it wouldn't take long at all...all they would do is send you a replacement after they receive yours...tjeyre not gonna thoroughly.examin it...they don't have the time...they go through hundreds if not thousands of replacements everyday
Anyways...your friend would have to send it in since its her phone...just let her decide...don't think there's much else.you can do

Well I have contacted HTC and this was there response
"Dear My Name,
I am sorry to hear your device is no longer powering on after an update. I will be glad to assist you with this.
Can you press and hold the power button for about a minute to see if the device will power on? If this does not work, try removing the battery and then place the battery back in the device and try to power it on.
If this does not resolve the issue, My Name, we will need to perform a factory reset. Please note that this procedure will delete all personal data, customizations, and files from your Vivid, so be any information on the device that is not already backed up will be permanently deleted. If you have an SD card in the device, please remove it prior to factory resetting.
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the Volume Down button, and then briefly press the Power button.
2. Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the Volume Down button.
3. Press Volume Down to select Clear Storage or Factory Reset, and then press the Power button.
.
Once the factory reset it complete, the device should power on and then will prompt you to set the device up with your email accounts, etc. If this does not resolve the issue you will need to speak with your carrier for more information on having your device repaired. They will be able to answer any questions you have about the warranty and repair process.
If I have successfully answered your questions, I would like to invite you to participate in our customer satisfaction survey about your experience with HTC Technical Support. Corey, you will need to close your ticket with us and you should receive a pop-up asking if you would like to take the survey. To do this, please follow the link below to reply to this message and select "Close" next to "Action" to close out the ticket and the pop-up should appear asking you to take the survey. I hope you have a great week!
LOL I think htc thinks I'm a noob ! But joking aside looks like I have to contact Bell Canada and see if they are going to replace the device or maybe they will want me to do a factory reset as well lol I will keep you updated ! Thank you all for your suggestions and if there is anyone that can tell me how to fix this thing you would be saving me a whole lot trouble !

[Q] X8 Totally Dead!!

Hi, I hope someone can help
My X8 is 2 months old and has the latest Sony software installed. I installed xrecovery and messed with a few roms but decided that the standard software was good enough for me.
A couple of days ago, I took my phone out my pocket and it was totally dead. I replaced the battery (thinking android had crashed) and still no luck.
Once I got home I tried the charger and connecting to a PC, but still no charge light and phone seemed dead. I left it on charge for a day and no luck.
Contacted Sony and they said try the emergency update software, which of course did nothing.
I have had a few android phones and never seen this happen. I have tried removing the memory card and sim and no difference.
Is there some key combination (pushing the back key I know that one) that would help?
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
I've already had the same situation. The second day after I bought my x8, my phone was dead (don't know why). So I decided to go to the shop and I asked to replace my x8 by a NEW x8. And I'm now with my new X8 and since that day I use my x8 without problem So I advice you to go to the phone shop and get a new X8
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
This happened to my friend with his x10 mini.he just left it and tried to turn it on after two days and it worked.
Have you tried to use the repair from SE PC Companion, and when asked to, plugin your phone and keep pressed the back key until the green light comes up?
It's the only recovery method that I'm seeing
Thanks i have already sent it away to Sony. Hopefully ill get a new phone unlocked. When I get a reply from the service center, ill post what happened to it.
Thanks to all that replied

[SOLVED] HTC HD7 won't start after failed update (Step 9 of 10) , Phone is Dead

I tried updating my phone and it got stuck on step 9 which was the reboot process. and the screen was just white with the HTC logo.
It was stuck on this step for a good 3 hours so i assumed something was wrong. I cancelled the update and unplugged the phone from the computer and it was stuck on the HTC screen still so i took out the battery.
And when i put the battery back in and tried turning it on it wouldn't turn on. And so now it my phone won't even turn on! I'm very frustrated. I thought at first it was dead but when i plugged it in the charger the charging light won't even come on. Tried Wall Charger and Computer
Please someone help! I need a solution
(Problem Solved by Flashing the Set with RIFF Box)
Try to put into bootloader and flash a rom from an ruu. You'll start from scratch but if it works it works.

Thanks for the Reply Man, But i try to put the Phone in Boot loader by Pressing the Volume Down Key and Power Key But no respond from the Phone...
Please advise if i am doing it Correct.
Its not showing any sign on Power at all even when i plug it to the PC or wall socket charger.
Pretty sure that's how to put in bootloader. Try to take battery out out for like 2-3 minutes, put back in then try bootloader. Doesn't make sense since the Zune updates basically overwrites files to update, not like previous windows mobile updates that wipes the the phone then replaces everything. Keep trying. Is there a possibility the battery is dead?

Whenever you update a phone and something goes wrong, it is always advised to make sure you DON'T remove the battery, especially while updating, if you hadn't removed the battery you could've ran the Windows Phone support tool. You have Bricked your mobile.
If there is no life not even charging you have bricked it.. Sorry to tell you this
You ain't the first person to brick your mobile and sadly you won't be the last
Quick Question: How were you updating your phone? via Zune client where it specifically says Do not remove the cable or battery.. Or via rom update manager for manually updating roms where it says the same thing? Hate to sound horrible but people should really pay attention to what it clearly states during updating..
Additional Info: Just thought id add and ask what you were updating, basically if you were updating either the bootloader or the radio (if these were in the update as well) you've bricked it, and with there being no life at all it tells me its dead and the cpu refuses to boot, the only way to bring it back from the dead is to JTAG it which I don't believe has been done for the HD7 yet and is a massive pain to do, Best thing you can do is send it in for repair and hope that they repair it, normally they don't
I was updating it through Zune, And it was stuck at step 9 and it was stuck like 4 hours.
Well it is is Bricked then i guess this is my Last windows Phone
I was happy with my iphone 4 but i don't know what strikes at my head that i decide to sell it and buy this stupid HD7 ( May be i am Stupid not the Phone)...
I will hit the Repair Market to get it fix through JTAG ( I search on Google and find that it's Possible for HD7) and update the thread later.
Wish me Good Luck

I know iPhone 4's are perfect, I think Apple has 0% percent returns. Oh don't forget the bumper, they are so in season... and they help to prevent drop calls.
My guess is there is a reason for the 4 hour update, possibly the phone got disconnected breifly during the update... that happens and the phone will just sit there and never finish. I have a few micro USB cords and they seem to be a bit prone to faluire after months of use. My nephew, who is 19... and well as careless as a 19 year old was holding the phone in his hand did just that, almost bricked his. Fortunately for my nephew the 7720 update program had already copied everything to the phone and it was during the reboot so it updated anyway.
Well the Update is...

Dear, I am afraid that i can't help you a lot on this as i just ask the repair shop and they said that they can fix it with the help of some hardware called RIFF Box and they did in few hours. Just to be noted that they have to disassemble your phone to so that.

I went to a repair shop in Cairo, and they did the JTag thing, but he was unable to download or install the right ROM... Everytime he tries installing a different ROM it fails and he has to start all over again.
Do you know where I can find/download the ROM that works with my T-Mobile HD7 after we do the JTag?
Still no Update....

HTC One M7 Touchscreen Dead

Hi all,
Anyone else having any issues like this? I see this was a common problem on that HTC One X as well (thread for reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010897 ). I haven't seen any reports of this and I searched the forums and the internet...maybe I've had bad luck because of the similar name, but I haven't heard anything official from XDA or otherwise
Occasionally, it seems that the middle area can work if there is enough static on the screen. Here is my screen map to show what I'm talking about:
UPDATE:
How strange. This issue started happening on Saturday, but on Monday when I was about to go down to T-Mobile to return the phone for a warranty repair, it suddenly fixed itself. I have full screen functionality. I didn't change any settings, didn't flash anything new, etc. The phone was never turned off (other than when I was testing if a restart or power cycle would fix it). I'll keep monitoring it in any case...

Exactly, I haven't heard before this similar problem... I think you are the first.
Have you installed a special app ?
Have you tried to reboot before to use it a another time ?
But I think that it's a problem with your touchscreen. So the best you can do, it's to send it back to HTC
This is definitely a digitizer defect. Only fix is to replace the glass/digitizer. Send it back to HTC as soon as possible because it will only get worse over time. I had the same problem with my one X

I have the same problem; RMA time it seems. I am a bit worried if they will accept it under warranty or not, because I unlocked the bootloader .

Did you find out if it can be replaced under warranty if you unlock your boot loader? I also have the exact same problem on mine the top part of my screen which has a completely bunked touch sensor it goes nuts if used touch anywhere near the top of the phone..
But like you I unlocked my boot loader and installed quite a few different roms thinking it would solve the problem… I am wondering if there is a way to relock the boot loader and make it look like it never happened? Although I doubt it because they probably have the information about the phone at HTC since they sent me the token to unlock it..
Well, apparently there isn't much you can do if you are on hboot 1.54 (like me), since you need to be s-off to erase the *tampered* flag if you just relock it will stay.
I didn't send it for repairs yet, but I will report when I do.
Hello guys,
i've got the same problem, my phone just started to act very wired, my top part of the display is not responsible, seems part of touchscreen is broken. Have you solved it somehow or you applied for warranty.
the same situation -bootloader unlocked and flashed different roms, I'm S ON, so can't flash RUU to see if it's software problem or HW
Did you brought it back to HTC? Since today im having the same problem.. Same for me, unlocked. Guess I'll have to pay

Yes I will report back when I flashed RUU. I'm pretty 100% this will not solve the problem but it's worth the try.
I'm also really struggling if I should it send back to HTC or not, I have this feeling they will flash my Hboot to 1.54 so newer customers can't get their hands on S-Off. A local telephone repair-dudey could fix my screen for 170 euro which is a pretty good deal.
I Sent HTC an e-mail with the current situation and still waiting for a reply, will report the whole story back

Okay I flashed RUU but with no avail. Im still having a line in my screen that doesnt work! I'm thinking of just letting it repair by the local telephone guy. HTC here in the netherlands work with an external company called Dynafix which will take about 3-4 weeks of time to repair it, and I'm also afraid that they will upgrade my hboot to 1.54 so I will lose the ability to s-off. (Not 100% sure, but just feeling it)
I hope you have enough information, we're both screwed without replacing a digitizer.. oh well, karma will strike back someday
They won't put you back to s-on, read in another thread that some phones ship with s-off and htc do not have any way of knowing who set the flag to off
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
HTC should replace your ones under warranty regardless of bootloader/soff. It is a physical hardware issue and has nothing to do with the software on the phone.

not good news, i was hoping that the problem might be fixed once RUU is flashed at least we know that repair center is the only option here
i would suggest to send the phone to HTC, better than to give it to someone to fix it, this phone is quite complicated when speaking about opening, but up to u and i think u will get a new phone if u send it to htc repair center... so no signs that the phone was opened etc.. up to u, the same with my phone, if i apply for warranty i will have to wait about 30 days, but for now no go without LOCKED and TEMPERED removed..
if i had to apply for warranty with tempered...no s off in upcoming few months, i will arrgue with HTC that screen HW itself doesn';t have anything with software, even if there would be status "hahaha htc" and not unlocked i will not pay for their crap more money
Well I have really no idea what happened but the phone decided to fix itself and I no longer have digitizer problems anymore.. So far its working (for over more then 8 hours already).
But yeah, you are right, it's probably better to bring it to HTC then a local repair shop when it get's broken again.
Well that's that, I really hope your phone kicks back to it's normal state aswell!! (I received an email regarding my issue and they said a factory reset would help, I doubt it though.. flashed a RUU and the problem was still there)
Same Problem ( is it HW or SW )
hello guys , i have the same problem as shown in the pic attached
i made HTC secret code and the Line Drawing test shows the problem well
, i made hard reset but still the same ,
i bought the phone from Amazon.com USA and now am in egypt
dont know if i can send it to HTC support
btw the problem time is unstable , sometimes working fine and other becoming weird any help ?
UPDATE : after contacting HTC support they replied to me with the below :
'' Thank you for your email regarding your HTC device. I apologize for the issues you have experienced with the device functionality, Mohamed.
There are a number of reasons that your device could be having this issue. It can be caused by an application, task killers, or software issues. To determine which one, we will need to put the phone in safe mode. Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications.
Press and hold the power button until the power menu comes up then press and hold on the Power off option and pop up will come up with the option to reboot into safe mode.
After you put it in Safe Mode, try using it without third party applications for a at least 24 hours to see how the device works. If it does not have this issue, then it is one of your applications. Try adding them back one at a time to see which one is responsible.
If the issues still persist please contact HTC repairs: HTC RMA Center, 1-866-449-8358 8AM - 1AM ET 7 days a week. That way you can go through the repair process as it is a little complex and we would need to speak to you on the phone to setup the repair ticket.
If you have any other questions about your device please feel free to contact us via email at any time.''
i tried it but still the same , i think it is hardware issue :'(
Can anyone confirm whether this S-OFF software can re-lock the bootloader and make it look like the warranty is still intact ? I need to send my phone back to HTC for a new digitizer stat
Yeah it's possible. Here's a guide for you: http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/return-stock-guide/

Samsung Galaxy S3 suddenly dies and won't turn on even after battery removal

The phone was plugged in to my computer (I was doing development) and was running all the time. Suddenly, while I was not doing development or doing anything, the phone died and I have have never been able to turn it on again.
I've tried:
Hold the Power button
Hold both Power and Volume down button
Take out the battery and put it in again
Replace the batter with another one from my friends' working-perfectly-fine Galaxy S3
The result is the same: no response from the phone at all - it's completely cold, no sound, light or vibration at all - all I've seen is the blank unchanged screen so please don't ask me about the start up screen
What can I do?
*Notes: I've read this thread but my warranty has ran out so bringing it to Samsung is not really the best option.

That does not get either recovery or download mode and is the reason i posted .
Recovery Vol UP + Home + PWR
Download Mode Vol Down + Home + PWR
Suggest you read the basics faqs and guides first .
Same problem
Did this ever get sorted? Mine is doing the same.
Won't power on whatever I try.
As the OP never posted again suggest you take it to a service centre .
Try reading the sudden death syndrome post.
Basics read first.

Hi all, I eventually had to take my phone to a service for replacement of the phone's mainboard. The mainboard was the problem and now the phone is ok again.
Thanks everyone

If you are going to replacet the motherboard and use the same phone, your data should still be there.
If you are going to use a new phone, you have to take out the hard drive and connect to it to get the data from there.
There is no hard drive in the Galaxy S3, just an eMMC flash chip soldered to the motherboard.

Do you feel smarter now after calling my post stupid?
If it's wrong, why not simply say it's wrong?
And if you are smart and decent enough, point out the details that can help people in need.

Are you sure all people on this forum are developers? Also, just what kind of developers?
Again, my answer could be wrong but how can it cause problem for others?
Let's break it down:
I said data should not be lost after motherboard replacement
There is no action required here so how can it lead to anything harmful?
Last time I checked, the data in my S3 was still there after its motherboard was replace
Taking out the hard drive from the phone was the part I wasn't sure
As of now, I can see that it's apparently wrong as someone pointed out
However, if there is no hard drive ==> how can one take it out ==> how can one damage anything?
How can I be responsible for anything here?
What do say now Mr. smart developer?
Please provide something concrete and convincing.
Don't waste your time, don't waste mine
After checking my hard brick phone by a bestbuy technical, i was told my phone was totally dead. The phone wouldnt connect to PC, can't do power charge, no any response even the jig method. And the data is gone. However, I am not sure how the data backup works. maybe they just don't wanna do it or their lack of doing it.
Normally, the data recovery from damaged hardware is expensive. cause it need plenty of time and they probably think the customer wouldn't pay for that.
Directly replace a motherboard could cost less than repair it. In some cases, could even replace a new phone cost less than a new motherboard. Technically, backup data from hard brick phone could be possible.

Similar problem with my Samsung Galaxy S3. Mine turned off randomly and wouldn't turn on again for half a day each time. The last time it happened it wouldn't turn on for a day, so I tried the DOWNLOAD MODE combination, cancelled it, got prompted to RESTART PHONE then it turned on again.
I took in my phone directly to Samsung Customer Service in Albany, Auckland (for New Zealand people). They found that the "current was not stable" and all they had to do was replace the mainboard. It only took them half a day to repair and it was covered by warranty. He said the cost of the mainboard, outside of warranty, would cost around NZD $260.
Replacing mainboard shouldn't affect your memory but it is always best to back up your phone via Samsung Kies (or something similar) before taking it in for repair. According to the Samsung guy, in New Zealand, they are not legally allowed to back up a customer's data on any of their computers, but there is no harm in asking them if you trust them to do so.
Hope this helps

Replacing the main board replaces all data except the External SD-Card, as the EMMC is built onto the motherboard, they can always backup the /data over QPST, where it isn't readable by any program except that one.

If you replace the motherboard you are going to lose all your information. All the information its in the old motherboard so there is no way to save your data if your motherboard is replaced.

[Q] ATT HTC One, Non-Rooted, No Issues Suddenly Non-Responsive in HSUSB-QLoader

Hey all,
I've had an HTC One M7 from ATT for a year and two days. I know it it is that time, because I according to ATT and HTC, it's my problem now because my warranty and insurance expired.
It has been a wonderful phone. I have not rooted it or ran any non-Play Store apps. I have not dropped it or exposed it to water. It was working normally, and sitting at 70%, when it powered down.
Power button and holding it down didn't do anything. No response from being plugged in. I ran through power+up vol, then power+down vol, then power+up vol+down vol (for five minutes). I will let it charge all tonight, but I don't know if that will do anything.
When plugged into my computer, it registers as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM5)," which from what I read, is the sign of a hardbrick.
I am currently abroad and don't know if I will be able to find a JTAB (from what I gather, that can help). Are there ANY other ideas of how to get this phone running again? It happened so randomly, I can't imagine that the HW would suddenly die; it must be SW.
My only thought is that it doesn't like the HTC European charger, and it Borked the charge data. But HTC Tech Support said as it was OEM, there shouldn't be any problem.
A few important work SMS and the phone number of a date I was in the process of confirming with are on this phone. Please help.
Heartfelt thanks,
vorwarnung

Thank you for the suggestion!
I'm not experienced with tools like this. My device is not-rooted, and I cannot tell if it is powered on or off. Will this tool still work?

your phone is bricked, this tool is the only known way to recover from qhusb_dload mode, read the guide carefully and follow instructions.
the only other way out of this is to send your phone to htc so the can replace the motherboard.

This just happens without any signs or warning? I feel like a critical software problem like this would be taken care of in debug. The only change to my phone was an OTA to Sense 6 two weeks ago, but it hasn't had any problems software or otherwise. Sure looks like HTC screwed me over with this one.

QHSUSB_DLOAD = Dead phone, either because of hardware defect or because a firmware incompatibility
option 1: follow the guide to revive your phone, if it doesn't work
option 2: send the phone to htc for repair.
option 3: there is no other options!

I suppose it's wishful thinking to assume that I'll keep any data on the phone, eh? I had to turn off my backup while I'm studying abroad, so I have about two months worth of contacts and photos to lose. Aw, well. Thanks for telling me about your experience!

In your experience with this, can you run it in a virtualbox? I can see my device, and it's recognized as it should within Ubuntu and Fedora (both virtual), but the .sh can't seem to locate my phone. Since it is pulling the correct code, I can assume it is not a hardware issue.
I'm sorry if you're not qualified to answer this question, but being new, it won't let me post in Dexter's thread.
Thanks!
