anyone with the knowledge?

Wifi calling is black magic. I'm always stuck running stock ROMs because I depend so heavily on that feature (I wouldn't have to if Tmo had half way decent coverage) especially at home. I hope and pray for a day when someone brilliant will come along and figure it out, or I can afford getting screwed by At&t or Verizon for better service. Good Luck.

I guess no one has figured this one out yet as of todate. I am trying to put Wifi Calling on my Galaxy Note with an AvatarROM. I badly need this feature as I have a terrible reception at work.

If it is that critical, and you really want to run a custom ROM, then get a VoIP provider and set it up in your ROMs native VoIP calling section. Choose a provider that will allow you to specify the caller ID number. VoIP.ms is a good one that does that. Cheap too.
Edit: if it isn't clear, the caller id that you enter would be your cell number, and so nobody would know. Well except that call quality would be better.

{i957} 3G Voice calls on Jellybean.

Hello great sub-community for the underrated Galaxy Tab 8.9!
Some bothering questions, I can't seem to get straight-forward answers to.
I do understand that the i957 does allow carrier based voice calls and sms, what plagues me is the steps to do this,
I've read that flashing a modem (I9103 or the Skyrocket i727?) over stock after you change framework to include the dialer and associated apps.
Or you can install a custom rom CM9 or CM10, I've read? Then again alter the modem? I'm quite lost and have a very good knack for android based software projects. So, I can imagine others failing to get all this together. Please help, kind Sirs and Misses of this great community.
Ideally I would love to be on some rendition of Jellybean with active voice and sms service. I know there's a screen off bug which is fixed by some assortment of apps. as well. I would to wrangle all this info into one thread and make life easier for the village of us who still own and yet to own Tab 8.9's ( the greatest tablet over 8" and below 10")
Cheers and Thanks in advance! Red Hazy
yes i would also like to know how to program this.
Im with previous poster
I have an i957 and an i727. I played around with it in the past and was able to make calls but not hear them. It's been awhile and I don't even remember what I did. But maybe it's time to pick that project up again. I was on nrvates cm10. If I find some time, and my wife doesn't get mad at me for playing with my phone, I'll play around with it.
If you find anything let us know.

[Q] Got a 4.2.2 AT&T active that I've unlocked and put on T-Mobile. Now what?

I've rooted and modded every phone I've ever had including my last phone, an S3. Now I'm looking and kind of confused at my next steps here.
I'd like to have a slimmed down phone, definitely don't need AT&T bloatware now. I'd love to have tmobile's wifi calling back, but I can deal if I can't have that. Wouldn't mind having an updated version but again, I really just want a slimmed down system... Battery life over bells and whistles for me.
What should I do next with this phone. What would you do if it was your phone?
Oh, I read about a procedure for accessing some bands for t-mobile's lte but mine is showing LTE right now.
Thanks,
Gilligan

Really the only thing you can do is root your phone, and uninstall the bloat you don't want. You have a phone with a locked bootloader so you can't flash custom ROMs with custom kernels. Install SafeStrap and xposed, and that's about the best you can hope for.
Yes, I've read about this much... Wasn't sure if things might have changed.
So safestrap will be as close as I can get. What would be the best option for a ROM for what I'm looking to achieve? Is there a way (safe) to get to 4.3 or 4.4?
What is the best/safest way to "uninstall" the bloat one I've got whatever ROM I'm gonna run installed?
Thanks again!
Gilligan
Any suggestions?
I would REALLY love to have the t-mobile WiFi calling feature. Is this possible?

That is not possible. The only way to get WiFi calling is with a T-mobile stock ROM, and obviously there will never be one for the S4 Active.

Well ok, that makes sense... thought maybe someone may have had ported one over or something.
What ROM would be recommended for lightweight stripped down ROM?

Tmobile 5.1 summary

There are so many different threads right now with repeat and/or conflicting information I am trying to sort some things out. From what I've either read or experimented with first hand, anything stock image based with any of the new radios will work, but aosp roms only work with the old 5.0 radio. The one exception to this that I don't understand is euphoria and the 98r radio work on Tmo. I am able to get and make calls while on lte. I don't have anywhere near enough knowledge to understand this so I'm hoping others can chime in and explain what's going on. I haven't tried the Tmo M build and I haven't updated my bootloader and I've only used banks gappps, if any of that matters at all.
terminus rom as well(released today). i can receive calls on lte with a new radio, and volte is working. yes, im on tmobile. btw, it is an aosp issue. but we have found whats missing, so soon itll work in all aosp roms as well.
Good to know, thansk for that info. So it's just a matter of the rom devs adding something to fix it? Why is it only Tmo users affected?

Wifi calling and texting?

Hi Guys. Is there anyway to get one or both features on a note 3 with a custom rom?
You're going to need to be much more specific if you want anyone to help you.
As of now att doesn't have WiFi calling you need t-mobile for that. Hopefully att will but until then I'm sure there has to be an app for that

Where are we at porting international ROMs?

A lot of questions are being asked in the 920F threads about T-Mobile functionality. Thought we could use a centralized thread for folks to pitch their ideas, thoughts, and solutions. Mostly we know that in call audio is borked when using on a 920T. @Goldie has made an awesome custom rom called "Alliance". And @mikeyinid is crushing it on the TMO forums, hopefully, we'll come to a solution soon.

I'd love to know more about this as well. I'm on a Canadian W8 with Telus and would really like to give @Goldie 's ROM a shot. Or at least something similar.
Guys. I know you wanna be able to run international roms, specifically Alliance, but you don't need to keep tagging us. I know goldie and his guys are looking at it, I've messed with it a bit and all I get is phone fc's. I don't know enough to be any help for this.
whats preventing then from porting? theyre the same hardware

Time and testing! And it's way more involved than JUST the hardware. If that's the case just flash the current alliance and live without, volte, Wi-Fi calling, oh...sound during calls which no one needs in there phone. [emoji6] Remember once you port it, then guys will be b,,, itching about this and that and complaining like the devs got 10% of what they paid Samsung for this phone and stock Rom and owe them something. These same complainers are the ones that lack patients to wait for the Rom to be thoroughly tested to be as stable as possibly...I am no dev, but it doesn't take a dev to understand how time consuming a Rom like ALLIANCE is. Plus the continued support in threads for multiple devices!

the note 3 and note 4 had issues - not the same - but issues when attempting to use international roms on TMO phones - eventally some one came up with a flashable fix that you could flash after flashing an Interntational ROM on TMO _ that is what I am hopeing for - and maybe one day someone will do it.

Not international, but the alliance rom for the Tmo S6 Edge works on my Tmo S6 with the newest Ktoonsez kernel. At this time though, we should support the guys developing in the TMO threads. They put in a lot of hard work and make a great product.

I agree wholeheartedly - but for the sheer variety of being able to flash any rom made for the S6 - I am hopeful a flashable fix will be made soon - in the meantime - alliance for the TMO S6EDGE works awesome with Ktnoonze's kernel - great rom!
