Is there any custom ROM based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for Milestone - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Hi all,
I heard many people said that Jelly Bean is really really fast.
Milestone is quite old. I am running CM 7.2.1 and feel some slow response, but my friends said that Jelly Bean is even faster then ICS and GingerBeard.
Is there any way to install Jelly Bean to Milestone?

But this one in in alpha state. And It has bugs.

Your link talked about Android 4.0.3, not 4.1

First post of that topic is about CM9 (ICS). But latest builds are based on Android 4.1.2 which is jelly bean. If you read the topic from last post, you can find the details. And also you can find latest build`s link below.
http://skrilax.droid-developers.org/cm10nightly/umts_sholes/
Milestone has locked. Which means, we can only use original kernel. Otherwise our radio can not work. With 2ndboot, we can use custom kernel which is enabled swaping.

[Q] Which JB ROM for Daily driver?

Thread title asks it all?
I used original 2.3.3 rom from samsung for about 1 and half years and it is rooted and cwm enabled
my question is which Jelly bean rom should i choose for my daily driver
I can only advise using ICS and let the JB ROMs mature a bit first...
I think u should use CM9 RC02 at the moment and let CM Team working on CM10...there are no nightlys right now, only a CM10 unofficial version from pawitp. For JB testing ok and for some users its a daily driver but let CM cru work ;-)
I'm using TAJB ROM beta, it's fine for daily use.

Slim bean. Super fast, super small and very stable. If you don't like the DPI like me, you can just change it to 240 or whatever.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
Im currently using TAJB rom V6 and it can be used as a daily driver. But if your into heavy customizations, you can wait for a few days until a stable build comes out
Thanks for all replies i flashed slim bean rom and it's awesome

I've been using [ROM GNEXUS PORT] jro03c 4.1.1 beta 4 [oficial jelly bean stock rom] - installed it yesterday....it's a little bit sluggish for my taste, but I guess it'll get better with time. in terms of usability it's stable enough for daily use. I've installed it on a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 and I was coming from Cyanogen 10
Try CM10
I strongly suggest CM10 Alpha. The latest build is really fast and it's being updated very regularly and new features are being added everyday.

There doesn't exist any paranIOd ROM. Ppl if u wd wrt prprly. WD b hily apprctd. 0.02$
Paranoid on Belly Jean // HydraCore 3.1
this is the second thread for this question :what:
all u need to know is 0.5 for ICS PA. 2.1 for Jelly Bean PA.
if you wanted tried and tested reliability, go for the 0.5, bleeding edge at the cost of memory leakage, 2.1
theres one more, the Utaka PA release, built from source rather than ported from a different device. Can't comment on this, not used it yet
this can all be discovered by simply reading the first page of the thread, a task achieved in less time than opening two threads

Written pretty much covered it.
1. PA v0.5 by imilka is based on ICS and is quite stable
2. PA 2.1 also by imilka is based on JB and isn't as stable as 1.
Both of these are ports from a different device.
3. PA 2.1 by Utacka is based on JB and isn't as stable as 1.
This port is based off of the official Paranoid Rom for the Galaxy Note.
Feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong.

Mine is not based of the official n7000 one, in fact nothing is ported from the official n7000 one, its the first PA rom built from source.

So, are there differences between imilka's and Utacka's JB PA in terms of features/functions that work or don't work? (I'm guessing they would be the same since they're both CM10 based, but I'm not sure, hence the question)
Or, is the difference just in terms of optimisations/tweaks/battery life/look etc.?
Thanks,
Rich

imilkas latest pa is ported to official preview #5 so it do not include latest cm merges since then basicly. Mine is straight from source and I build mine everynight and always include the latest. Also next nightly will include new lib drivers from note 2 JB and make it more buttery, look at my thread in few hours. stay tuned.

Best performanse rom?

What is best performanse rom?
It really depends what you want - for ICS probably Texasice, Sense 3 - Runny Rom for N1, etc.
Stock android usually is quicker (something like CM but if you want a different look there're always themes)

I'm currently running reider123s CM10.1 rom, it runs smoothly and most features work. I'm a fan of either sense or stock - had the Runny rom yet it was very slow, CM10 is great for what I use my phone for

Can you post to me link off that rom? I dont try that. Is that smooth as CM7?
Well, it's jelly bean so it will be a bit different. Depends on what you run.
Might be worth looking at reider123s paranoid android - very popular and quite smooth from what I hear

Hello, it come down to personal preference.
Why you might asked? some person are light android users (like myself), some are flash-holics.
I've tried a few the best so far is 2.3.7 CM 7.2. works flawlessly.
Currently using 4.2.2 CM 10.1 and i must say i'm still in blown away with the performance.
Thanks for this thread.

using the [ROM][DEV][JB][4.2.2] AOKP for Passion Unofficial Nightlies
I'm using the [ROM][DEV][JB][4.2.2] AOKP for Passion Unofficial Nightlies
even donated to the developer, impressive.
can even be patched using autopatcher to support pdroid,
The GB ROMS such as CM 7.2, MIUI 2.3.30 are very smooth and stable. MIUI especially offers a degree of customization not seen in most other ROMs. However, my only problem with these ROMs is the slow Write speed they've got - copying files to the SD card is a drag even if you have a class 10.
The JB ROMs (esp. 4.2.1 VJ) are very smooth and almost stable ( Camcorder, Tethering, Faulty 3G), but they kernel is optimized for faster transfers. If you can live with the niggles I mentioned, JB ROMs are the way to go.

Looking for a stable rom for my 70 year old Father

Hello I am looking for a Rom that will not freeze up. A stable and fast Rom and Kernel combo. My father is 70 and when it freezes up on him you can imagine the distress and 20 phone calls i receive from him. Please can someone advice on the most stable rom there is on xda for the i9000. I am more concerned about stability than speed. Altho a bit of both would be nice. Even if I could have one with the latest firmware and still be stable would be a bonus. But i do understand the limits with the hardware and porting issues.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Edit: This post needs moving to Q&A sorry to the forum admins.

semaphore kernel one of the best kernel for sgs, and im using it as u can see in my sign. but because its for your father i prefer to stay with stock, or you can use semaphore its v.stable but don't use live oc because its phone independent and may cause soft reboot
I installed it and wow its fast. Also how nice is CM10. I slapped gapps on top to cos he uses gmail play etc. I can't believe I have never bothered with AOSP Roms before. It's going on my i9300 tonight. Stunning! Thanks again for your help.

[Q] GB, ICS, or JB?

I just got a Galaxy S and am surprised to see so many JB roms available.
I would probably switch over to this phone from my Xperia S, just to use Voodoo Sound
My question is, is JB roms currently stable enough compared to ICS or GB?
Please provide feedback only if you've tried all three versions before :silly:

Dear,
I am developing only the FlymeOS for i9000 at now ; soon i will developing a Custom Rom with 4.0.4 base...
You can really forget JB Roms , the one good JB for i9000 is only 4.1.2 ; you can forget JB 4.2.1 and 4.2.2
They are quite fast at beginning , but you will notice how lazy they are going to be ..
I highly recommend ICS roms , because they are really fast and they haven't bugs.
There are some apps that are only avalible for Android 4.0+ (like Nova Launcher) , and so I really can't see that ICS is outdated.
Thats why i only develop and port roms for ICS on i9000 device.

Yup, agreed here. Don't get us (or at least me) wrong, 4.2.2 is fantastic. But ICS is rock stable in just about eery aspect and 4.1.2 is pretty damn good as well if you still want to consider Jelly Bean.
Although @UnlimitedRom, you have to admit Google Now is pretty neat
A lot of JB apks can be pushed manually or installed normally on ICS roms anyway.. Just that ICs roms in general are less customiseable than JB roms.
By the way, FlymeOS is looking goooood

Google Now ... is somebody using it? It think it's kinda useless , it is my opinion.
Only 4.1.2 is a good Jelly Bean for i9000
I really can't see that ICS should be a old OS ; as you have said that JB apk's can be installed on ICS...
I bet that if i9000 device is to lazy for Android 5.0 , there will be lots developers who develop for 4.0.4 ...

Yeah, when google released 4.2 I don't really see the point of it except for some nicer animations or not so important functions.
I was shocked at the sheer number of JB roms for this phone at first because on my previous experiences, JB don't work really well on single core phones
I'd give JB a try first and if it's really bad I would try out the rom of yours, it looks great

Hey, you never know, rumours are flaoting around that 5.0 is going to be optimised for devices with a 1Ghz processor and 512MB of rom( (one or the other or both). So you never know, 5.0 might really bring the S back to life
But yeah, 4.0.4 is a really good base for the I9000. Smooth, stable but not too taxing for the processor at all (not to mention some pretty good battery life, daaaaaaamn)

Yeah, agreed. The JB roms optimised for gaming work decently- although that's HEAVILY optimised and debloated to give as quick an experience as possible. But it's an OS optimised mostly for dual cores and above. There are very few single-core devices- if at all- that run 4.1 officially, and for pretty damn good reason. Only one I can think of is the Nexus S (Nexus version of the Galaxy S, bearing in mind), and even then 4.2 was dropped for that device. So while its still possible to have Jelly Bean fully functional, at the end of the day...
