Google officially announced Nexus 4, updated Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Android 4.2 - Nexus 7 General

On their official blog:
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/nexus-best-of-google-now-in-three-sizes.html
Let's hope 4.2 trickles down to our devices soon!
Also a neat overview video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66-4uMQqerA&feature=g-all-u

Woo hoo! Looking forward to 4.2
The Verge seems to have all the details on what's new in it: http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/29/3569244/android-4-2-new-features-miracast-gesture-keyboard-multiple-users-photo-sphere

Where is the Nexus 10 pre-order link!?

NExus 7 32GB with mobile data for 299$ is killer price!:good:

Ok, 32GB with 3G/4G for $299, very good, might get that since I already got a 16GB Nexus 7 (first gen), but wtf, no hardware changes? I was waiting for something new other than more HDD space. I will wait out a month or two to see if the screen lift problem persists.

Finally google music coming to europe!

Man the nexus 4 is a letdown. No LTE? The thunderbolt was released a year and a half ago. Son, I am disappoint.

The LTE versions will most likely come. They'll just be bastard children like the Nexus S 4G on Sprint.

:::::: Pricing ::::::
Taken straight from https://play.google.com/store/devices?feature=corpus_selector
Nexus 4
8GB = 299USD, 239GBP
16GB = 349USD, 279GBP
Nexus 7
16GB = 199USD, 159GBP
32GB = 249USD, 199GBP
32GB + 3G = 299USD, 239GBP
Nexus 10
16GB = 399USD, 319GBP
32GB = 499USD, 389GBP

Glad they've announced it given people have been buying the 32GB in the UK since saturday!!
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=95&t=1170913&i=400&mid=137365&nmt=Google+nexus+7

And I just bought a 16GB a little over a month ago!

Looks like we will get 4.2 around the 13th November.

Where did you read that there's no 4G-LTE? Or did you surmise this from not seeing mention of it being included. You may be right, but I'd be shocked if they omitted LTE from a phone this new.

EDIT: The Verge is reporting that there's no LTE on Nexus 4 (and explains why). http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/29/3569688/why-nexus-4-does-not-have-4g-lte

According to LeeLaa (read up), we get it Nov 13.
Meanwhile, I am skeptically, cynically contemplating the possibility that this is actually true.... Then again, if an N7 with no hardware changes is available Nov. 13 with JB 4.2 onboard, it does makes sense that we'll be able to get JB 4.2 for existing N7's around the same time.

2012 Tablet Comparison, is Nexus 7 better?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying the nexus 7. Came across this article that compares all the current tablets. Is the source accurate? Should I buy the 16gb or 8gb one?
Source
Specs look about right, except I think the Kindle fire has 1024x600.
For it's price and size the nexus 7 is the best. If you want full sized go for the transformer infinity.

Get the 16gb version asap. This device rocks. Very fast across the board.
there are a few not on the list dropping shortly. If you have 500 dollars i suggest Huawei media -pad 10 , 200, tegra 3 acer a110 similar nexus 7 less screen resolution but does has sd card slot and hdmi port. Might research more before you decide. and the nexus will get best support and development. so cant go wrong there either.
What do people think on how the n7 compares with Motorola xoom2 8.2 media edition which can be picked up for around 200 UK pounds...and will also receive the jb upgrade?

I was hoping that the 2011 tablets that haven't sold too well like the Xoom would drop to near fire sale prices because of the N7 but I guess not.

Given that you are asking on XDA...the Nexus 7 is guaranteed to have a massive development following. Other tablets are hit and miss. For example, the A500 has way more development than the A200, event though the A200 was one of the first ICS tablets on the market. What is especially weird is that the A200 has an unlockable bootloader and the A500 does not. But by the time the A200 came out, all the devs already had an A500. Acer tablets are very close to stock google, and they are pretty good about updates, but you never know where the development will be. So the A110 may be a great tablet...but given the massive presence the N7 has in the 7" tablet development world...I have my doubts.
It's just that i have purchased the n7 and not sure whether to keep or sell and get the xoom 2 media edition 8.2 which i can buy for a little more than the n7?

You are correct sir.
I have the Acer A100 and a Xoom. The A100 is good battery sucks so unless you can get one for around 100-120 don't waste your time get the N7. I can't really say anything bad about the Xoom is has reliable and will get a JB update. Now I think the 7inch screen is too small and personally I believe 8 is the perfect size. so I might try the Xoom 8.2 once they are cheap enough.

Get 16G
I got the 16G, would have been happier if they had an 32G option like the Galaxy Nexus phone or an SD slot but 16G is usable, I wouldn't consider 8G given that it lacks an SD slot.
The performance of the Nexus 7 is very snappy and Jelly Bean is a real improvement over ICS so if you are going to get a 7 inch tablet the N7 is definitely the way to go.
I can't find a Xoom for any cheaper than $300 still. If it was like 150 or less, it'd be bought in a heartbeat.

Do you guys think the price might go down during the holidays for Nexus 7?
I don't think the price will go down soon with so many places being sold out and play store stop taking orders for the 16gb.

[DISCUSSION] How long do you intend to use N4?

I used to pay $60 to Sprint and now pay $30 for Tmo prepaid plan. So I'm saving $30 a month, which got me thinking I can now afford a new Nexus phone ($300) every year.
Curious to hear what other N4 owners think about the life expectancy of their N4s. Do you buy every new Nexus phones?
I will use it until it dies or I manage to break it. Not interested in LTE as I am more than satisfied with hspa+ speeds for my needs and I will be transitioning to t-mobile's 30 dollar plan in a couple of months when my AT&T contract ends.
As long as Google will support it. The reason why I got my nexus phone is because of the android update and community support. The price is just a bonus

Probably until some time in the first or second quarter of 2014, since the Nexus 4 will have long term support as far as I can see. Just hoping we won't see a launch like the N4 with the next Nexus phone.

Till September 2013 at the minimum for me. Then I'll see what the state of the market is and how the new Google X phone is. Hopefully be able to keep it longer :good:
Until I'm tired of flashing roms on it. Which means it peaked out for me and its time for the next NexusX.
500 years 38 days 16 hours 53 minutes 44 seconds
After that I'll give it to one of my kids
Hopefully till 2015-2016. I've used the G1 in conjunction with other phones since 2009, so I feel I could use this thing for many years.

i would say till the next N5 and keylimepie is released probably after this years google i/o. maybe the next nexus will be googles own monster out of the motorola stables.
I'll get my next phone in 2 years when my contract runs out. November 2014 to be exact.
There is no need for a new phone every few months.
Jelly Bean barely pushes two cores so there's no reason to upgrade. I don't know it you guys have noticed yet but Google's is still not as optimized as Apple's. The hardware-to-software performance optimizations just aren't here yet.

Help me decide my next Android purchase

Hi guys. I have a Nexus S and I already posted this in the NS and N4 forums.
Now... I've been wanting a Nexus 7 ever since it was announced, but only now that I can afford one.
But now I see I've got a chance to buy a 16gb Nexus 4.
I was planning on continuing to use my Nexus S as it totally rocks running CM10.1 and using the Nexus 7 for browsing the web around the house and playing games.
If I would buy the Nexus 4 I would obviously not afford the Nexus 7 for a while. But the Nexus 4 is such a sexy piece of hardware and it has a much better camera than the Nexus S and I've got a baby on the way and I would love to be able to take good pictures and HD videos of my little ones.
Help me decide!
Nexus 7 + Nexus S
Or
Nexus 4 only
I´ll tell you one thing that might sway your opinion a bit...
I am in Iceland... A 16gb Nexus 4 is 99.900 ISK = 775 USD. A 32gb Nexus 7 is 59.900 ISK = 465 USD.
:crying:
Sent from my Nexus S
Well, speaking as a newer parent (22 month old daughter) in the long run you'll value your pictures far more than whatever hardware you get today. So if the phone will be your primary camera, get one with a good camera...and fast. My Evo 3D was so slow from button press to photo actually taken, I kept missing great shots...but I digress.
Those prices really suck though...makes me think there could be money being a technology mule. LOL

Nexus 7 + Nexus S.
Then wait for the next nexus phone or the 'rumoured' X-Phone by Motorola.

Nexus 4. Quality pictures of your baby will be more valuable. Later on you can get the new nexus 7 inch device.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Sounds like a tough pickle...if it wasn't for the pictures I would say go nexus s and nexus 7 that is about to be my combo when my nexus 7 comes in. I went with that option simply because I was tired of waiting to get a nexus 4 that and I am temporarily computerless.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
Well if you get them shipped from america and paid american prices you could get both for the price you are paying for the N4.
There are companies you can use to buy them and ship them to you.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I recommend you the 7 & nS combo.
The 7 is a dream.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I would say you should get the Nexus 7 and keep the Nexus S. That is what I did, and I love it.
I would take the Nexus 7 cause i don't care about camera and the nexus s can do almost all things the nexus 4 can.It's just slower.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I'm actually swaying toward the NS+N7 combo.
I'm seeing a lot of threads about issues with the N4. I'm not the type who has to have the newest gadgets so I think I might just wait until most of the issues with it have been resolved and then it might have reduced in price a bit here in Iceland.

You should definitely get the n4. Why downgrade to a 2 year phone? I bought the n7 first then a month later i got the n4. It's been great so far. I bought a nexus 4 sixteengig. sold out right away and bought notetwo. battery life wasn't that Good andno ability to swap batteries. the 3100 mah battery on this bad boy means you will never . miss a photo or video opportunity due to dead battery. internal plus a 64gig external means recording lots of hd video. Get the N7. The Nexus 4 to me, just isn't worth it. Too many things led me to not buying one, and I instead stuck with my Gnex. 90% of users don't even use that Snapdragon CPU. The camera isn't that great. Front and back both glass which is a big no no for me.
Trust me, the N7 is well worth it.
It seems to me that with that difference in price, you could buy the N7 and then get a decent little point and shoot (or maybe even a super zoom) camera. Keep your S for a while and save, then buy the N4 if it's still what you want.

Possible Nexus 8

Hi, yesterday I went to Staples to buy the Nexus 7 32gb for $169. I asked the Staples employee if the Nexus 7 discontinued? He said yes we are getting the Nexus 8. So I don't know if there is truth to that, but he answered pretty sure. And it felt like they already have some stock for the release date. Is it possible we can get a Nexus 8 instead of 7. I asked 7 or 8 he answered Nexus 8.
I found this also

Could be a nexus 8 at october. But is possible also a nexus 7.

Yes, I bought mine almost 2 weeks early at Staples.
Just a thought but, Maybe he was confused and assumed that the new one would be called Nexus 8 because it comes after 7. I think it's safe to say with all the leaks that 7" is what is replacing it. I honestly don't think they'd do a 7" AND 8". That would be a VERY bad idea and would cause confusion and kill sales. I think it's cafe to say that Google will keep the 3 Device setup but try out a couple of others (rumors of Game console (like OUYA) and a watch have been floated).
I think Google would keep this information more private and request it not be shared with employees. Like said, it is probably the Nexus 7 Second Generation.

Yeah we've had some "leaks" but still don't know a thing.
I've heard some many "involved" people say August. Retailers wouldn't be clearing stock months in advanced. iDevices don't sale until another one is announced, give or take a week.
Apple is at least more structured with their release dates. Google makes it hard. Nexus phones can be released anywhere from September to December.

I bought it just a few moments ago. I figured for $141 ($11 CA tax) it couldn't be a bad purchase. I will probably put Cyanogen Mod on it and see how it works out. I basically need a tablet for reading but after holding my moms Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 I realize that form factor is to large. So hopefully this will be okay. Also, sucks the 2013 Nexus 7 is a huge upgrade in terms of screen.
You should install MultiRom for it, then you can multiboot unlimited number of roms including stock.
