leaked XXLSA JB ROM issue - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
A few days ago i installed this ROM, and after restoring my apps, and setting things up i got the next issue.
Whether i'm in the home screen, apps menu or widgets menu, every time i change pages, my Notes says "page x of y". Further more, if i have a folder in the apps menu and i open it, it says "folder open". And when it's closed: "folder closed". And as you can imagine, it's quite annoying.
Now, i have disabled (actually frezed with TB) talkback, disabled "speak password" (or wherever it is the english translation), and disabled scripts web (i had a similar issuer in ICS that i solved disabling this: when using the explorer or flipboard the note read me the content).
Also, i've digged in into all settings and i haven't been able to find how to stop this...
Do you have any idea of what's going on?

anyone?

[Q] voice on scrolling

When I scroll from one screen to the next, a voice tells me to which screen I am going, like: four from six. Does anyone. know how I can disable this option? I searched all the settings, but I found nothing. The voice keeps on going, even when the sound of the phone is completly turned off.
Go to settings-accessibility and disable talk back. Hit thanks if it works!

disable everything in Accessibility
If the above still doesn't work or you don't want to suitable all accessibility, go to settings > application manager > all > then scroll to find Google text to speech and disable it, then scroll to find Samsung tts and disable it.

Dictionary update information WTF?

So I have no access to WiFi unless it comes from this damn phone.
I don't know what this notification is all about but it's irritating the living hell out of me and it won't go away.
I have no WiFi network available to connect to and besides I have unlimited data and I don't want ANYTHING requiring WiFi
How the hell do I fix this before I lose my freakin mind?
Long press on the notification and select app info to see which app is requesting a dictionary update.
Some apps like the Google Play Store and Amazon App Store have settings that will not update apps above a certain size unless you are on WiFi. Disable that setting or set it to a higher limit.
If you find out what app is causing it, look in that apps settings for a similar wifi limit.
My Droid Turbo is doing the same thing the app info points to download manager....system application! UGH!!!
Same here, I even connected my Turbo to my work's WiFi and updated it and still I am getting this notification.

I disabled notifications & it went away. Mine stay connected to WiFi at work & is my mobile hot spot at home.
Maybe a fix for y'all
Try going into settings, language and input, click on the 3 bars to right of goggle keyboard. Select text correction. Then select add on dictionaries. I had to click on each language till i found ones i don't use and deleted. Also found one with blue bar trying to update. I was able to click on it then selected cancel. . I clicked on it second time and selected delete. So far has worked for me been about 14 hours since did that.
I also had this happen today. When I got home it downloaded and too about 2 seconds.

This did not work for me although it did lead me to the discovery of several dictionaries I have no intention of using that showed 'installed'. I was able to "delete" those dictionaries but they still show on the list as "available." Right now the only dictionary showing 'installed' is "English" but I see no indication that it's attempting to update, i.e. there is no progress bar or visual difference between it and the others on the list.
Disabling notifications for Download Manager obviously does get rid of the notification area icon but is an imperfect solution as, usually, I do want notifications from Download Manager. Anyone come up with something else that's working?
doesn't work

Unfortunately, it is a coincidence that it works for Google keyboard. The problem still exists for my phone and I don't use the Google keyboard only the Samsung one.
Go to Language and Input then Voice Search.
Click Offline Speech Recognition, then Auto-Update.
Change it to Auto-update languages at any time, instead of Wi-Fi
Then go to Text-to-speech output,
Click the Settings icon (looks like volume sliders)
Click Settings for Google Text-to-speech Engine
Turn off Use Wi-Fi only

How to keep Whatsapp alive (did try every "legal" trick in the book!) ?!

I am with CLT-L29 on stock 9.0.0.236 I noticed that recently (maybe after some recent system or app update) Whatsapp gets killed if the phone is on idle for longer time, say 20-30+ min.
I have the following set:
* Battery/App launch/Manage manually - all options enabled for Whatsapp (and only this did the trick in the past)
* Special access/Battery optimization/WhatsApp -> Don't Allow
* In Recent applications screen I have swiped Whatapp down and now it is with padlock and not being removed from recents when pressing the dust bin.
* Also did try to kill process "Power Genius" that I read is Huawei power manager - but I don't think this can be done without root
* Also did uninstall/fresh install of Whatsapp
Am I missing something?

Did you try rebooting after setting to manual in battery settings?
Hi, I had this for two days, after that it has started working perfect, wasn't just whatsapp for me either. Think some sort of learning system in emui is broken with regards to regularly used/priority apps. As you, I went through all menus.... Twice.

Twice?! I did it maybe more than 20 times!
Unfortunately it did not improve... I played with this over the last weekend, still yesterday evening and today morning - whatsapp web was saying no connection to the phone until I wake it up or open Whatsapp on the phone.
I will let it be for the time being (since out of ideas and don't want to reset the phone just for that). But it is driving me crazy since I use whatsapp for work as well and during the day (also in the evenings) I am checking every now and again if whatsapp is still running...
Same for work. I thought maybe it was to do with me using an always on music widget while I'm at work but it carried on working fine when I got home suddenly. God knows why then

Are you sure it's only WhatsApp?
Try those too:
Settings -> Battery -> More battery settings -> Stay connected when device sleeps -> Enable
Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Data usage -> Data Saver -> Disable

Well, I mostly use whatsapp... At one point email notifications were also delayed a lot (Gmail), lately it is better...
I noticed that it mostly happens when the phone has been idle (out of the pocket sitting on the table) for long time 10-20 min.
Those were already set as suggested:
Settings -> Battery -> More battery settings -> Stay connected when device sleeps -> Enable
Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Data usage -> Data Saver -> Disable
Make sure you set it to manual and all 3 options are on.
Now go to settings-apps-apps-3 dots in the right corner top-special access-battery optimization - find whatsapp and press allowed.
After that reboot in recovery and delete cache.
If it doesn't work then sue Zucc
Oh yeah, reinstall whatsapp after doing the stuff you did. This will fix your issue
never had any issues with Huawei and WA. the only thing had to do was to select that WA will be handled manually (no auto battery management for this app) and to not kill the app after phone goes to sleep

The Restless Soul -> didn't you mean "Don't Allow" - since this is the option to remove whatsapp from battery optimization - screenshot attached? (if so, I have tried that with no improvement).
I did try whatsapp reinstall already and cleared phones cash. But will clear the cash once more...
Most definitely - once the phone goes into deep(er) sleep whatsapp (and probably other background apps) get killed.
Also noticed yesterday that Gmail too, delayed an email (I received it 40 min after I got it on my desktop) until I started using the phone...

It was the same with me in the beginning...
Not sure when exactly it changed - I am now on 9.0.0.236
Strongly considering killing the Huawei power management application as per the below guide, the down side - will no longer be able to see the power consumption details:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-pro/themes/remove-powergenie-to-allow-background-t3890409
Yesterday I left my phone for more then 2 hours just laying on the table...
I got 1 missed call from Whatsapp and my Gmails delayed until I opened the Gmail application (by 2+ hours)... so it is not only whatsapp - problem with push notifications of any sort when the phone is idle.
Today I did:
C:\>ADB shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.huawei.powergenie
Package com.huawei.powergenie new state: disabled-user
Let's see what will happen...

I am giving up for now...

disable OK google listening

Ok I was able disable the OK google and it only listen when I press the mic icon. Now no matter what I do in the google app settings it's always listening. My only current option is to disable microphone permissions which isn't what I want since I can't press the mic icon and speak.
I had it setup on the note8 with android 9 to only listen when the mic icon is pressed. Got the note 9 did the same settings and it still responds when I say OK or hey google.
Currently have the microphone permissions disabled since my phone does NOT need to listen all the time. Is there a setting I am missing?
I had to remove the Google search widget to stop it from always listening. It is stupid that they removed the option to simply turn it off.

Exactly. Disable the "Google" app improve the memory and battery usage, imo
Interesting, I disabled the Google app for about 30 minutes and could not use voice with chrome so turned it back on. The mic permissions are enabled but OK google is now disabled yet I can push the mic icon and use voice for searching again.
So its exactly how I want it but a very strange way to get there. I have no clue how this worked but it did.
Well after a restart and about 20 minutes it went back to listening.
That's odd - it's definitely off on mine, but I can't find where I deactivated it! I use Nova Launcher, and there is an option in the Settings under 'Gestures and Inputs' to disable 'OK Google hotword' - maybe that's how I did it? But 'OK Google' doesn't work anywhere on my Note 9 (did this to save battery and because I have a Google Home & Mini).
EDIT: And I do have the Google App installed.
Not sure what's going on. Google runs me around when I tired to ask them. I know exactly where the setting is and its disabled but still listens for the "OK google "
Personally I would love someone with influence to get attention to this but it seems a little hit or miss on setups so not sure. I have the mic disabled.
I did do a really stupid test if my device was listening and used let's say red flag words to see if anyone was listening. Ironically the words I used are related to an event happening in my city which was horrible timing on my part but semi proved to me no one heard it.

Yes that works. The only thing I don't want is it to disable voice in chrome app which this does.
The settings to disable OK Google are there but don't function and google themselves either don't understand what I am saying or don't want to admit the setting doesn't function as it should.

It's not easy to find the option to turn off the Google assistant, but it's there.
Settings > apps > (three dots menu) default apps > device assistance app
You'll want to change "device assistance app" to "none" and then "voice input" to "Google". The you should be all set.
To go a step further, you can disable the Google assistant from running at all on your device.
Google app > "more" (lower right hand corner) > settings > Google assistant > assistant
Then, at the bottom you should see "assistant devices" with "phone" listed. Select phone and then toggle Google assistant off.
This should do the trick.

I was able to do the first part of device assistant app to none. The voice input option doesn't allow me to pick just google option.
Either way this has solved my issue and is now working they I want it to. Going to try a restart and see if it persists unlike my previous attempt.
Thanks again for finding this.
I like having the search widget and be able to type or voice input my search if I don't know how to spell something. With all the news of companies admitting they listen and record voice stuff having my device always listening is very unsettling. I guess it's a little paranoid but I live in a bad part of my city and I really don't want to be red flag because I walked by a drug deal which happens all to often.
That's strange, because that exactly what it should do when you disable Voice Match, since it is said that's it's actually the "anywhere OK Google listening".
Try deleting your voice imprint on the same setting page too maybe.
I wonder why is working fine on my phone and not on others.

Question Google Play Services (Driving Mode) - Do not disturb Problem

Hi, i have bought this phone 3 days ago, i have a strange problem, when i drive with any car (cars doesnt have blietooth or Android auto) phone turns on driving mode and do not disturb.
i have seen it in menu and when i turn off do not disturb, again its starts itself when i drive with any car
how can i disable this future
Same issue. Looking for a solution for a while, no success yet. Any help would be greatly appreciate
this is known Google's issue, you need to reach out to Google.
try below steps:
settings > apps > three dots > special access > disable Google
settings > google (google services) > personal safety > disable silence notification while driving
this should turn it off

Unfortunately, this doesn't work.
You turn it off here, in Google Assistant, in DND settings, delete it from DND settings and it still comes back and self-activates.
I even did the Android 12 software update and still the issue persists.
The only approach I haven't tried yet is to disable DND permissions for Google. Hopefully this will do it.

In case anyone is interested, this worked.
Remove the DND permissions for Google, the issue stopped immediately. Obviously, it also means that Google can't put the phone into DND mode so if that's important to you then you may want to try to find another solution...which there isn't.
I thought Android auto was my problem and that it was the reason it was putting my phone into Disturb mode, but it's not and I'll tell you how to fix it..View attachment 5599403
I found what the problem is I thought it was Android auto that was giving me the problem but if you have a Verizon phone you can fix that in the messaging app for any other brand use Google Maps..
Open the Google Maps app
Open your profile by pressing the avatar in the top right corner
Press settings
Scroll down and press navigation settings
Tap Google Assistant settings
Turn off driving mode by tapping the when navigating in Google Maps button
