[Q] CyanogenMod 9 RC (Build 2) and gt-i9001 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just installed CyanogenMod 9 RC (Build 2) by arco68 on my samsung galaxy S+
and all is fine except when i try to reboot from the reboot menu (in normal reboot or in download mode or in recovery). When i try this the phone reboot but blocks at the samsung logo and never go ahead. I have to switch off the phone by pressing the power button a long time and after the switch it on.
I have also another question about kernel. I have to uodate the kernel separately from the ROM and if yes which on to choose ?
Thanks
Eric

I only can help you with the second question
Yes you have to update only kernel if you want to switch to another one
If you want a 2.6 kernel try the CastagnaIT 7.4 CFS extreme UV kernel and if you want 3.0 kernel you could try the one by jaggyjags but its a bit laggy. Its in the jaggyjags kernel thread in the attachments
Hope i helped

About first question, deactivated touch sound and dial pad sound from settings => sounds. And try, that should help you.

Thanks now it works fine. Is it a bug?

This is the comment from another cm9 thread, this applies for Arco's cm9 as well:
FM radio (you can use Spirit FM Free with Audio->Method = "qdsp5v2 Altern", there isn't an FM Radio app in CM9)

Fast and stable! Really nice kernel! Thank you Codeworkx for your work!
But using Voltage control and save profile for 1200mhz after a few minutes it changes automatically to 1008mhz.. should i use another cpu controll app?

[i9001]Is it possible to lower vibrations' sensitivity?

Hey, I just wanted to ask is it possible to lower the vibrations? Since I moved to ICS/JB i just can' t get used to it. In 2.3 roms they were much lower or i even could set them in settings.
So, is it possible to lower vibrations on JB?

I' m using unofficial port of CM10 by ivendor, and looking in settings --> system i don' t see vibrations option.
If your kernel have a kernel manager, like:
Devil kernel - devil kernel manager
Semaphore - semaphore manager
You can look at your's if your kernel have one, google it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Under "about phone" you can see your kernel info, the stock CM10 kernel allows vibration control, and the setting is located in system settings somewhere, so you'll have to check your kernel, and then if the one you have isn't the stock, if it has a management app.

[Q] CM10 and 10.1 auto reboot

hi,
i've a galaxy s with Cyanogen Mod 10.1 Nightly intalled and currently up to date.
but i have a problem, my phone sometime reboot and i can't discover the cause of this.
i try to uninstall my apps one by one but with no positive results.
i thought the problem was the CM10.1 because is a nightly rom, so i've installed the stable version of CM10 but the problem appears again.
so now i have installed again the CM10.1 .
can someone help me with this problem ?
thanks a lot and sorry for my bad english

Which kernel you are using?
you may try this,
1) reflash the rom with full wipe.
2) if you are overclock the OC clear int.d and NStool setting or using kernel cleaning script
note: only use one kernel setting apps ( e.g NStool , semaphore manager and +++)
If you are using semaphore kernel try not to use NStool setting and semaphore manager.
Hope this will help. :fingers-crossed:

I kinda have a similar problem with the OP. Except, my SGS (running CM10.1) only random reboots if I'm using another kernel, other than stock (mostly, I tried with Semaphore, diff builds). Any ideas anyone?
I would really like to use Semaphore, due to its deep idle and other options.
Sorry if I off-topic'ed here!

if you flash semaphore kernel(2.9.++ is for 4.2.++ ROM) and reflash the cm10.1 rom yor kernel will change to cm10.1 stock kernel.
so the step should be flash the rom and reboot to recovery and flash the kernel you like. for me flash a new kernel i will clear the NStools settings and init.d directory from advanced clear before i flash any new kernel.

[Q] Help a newbie out

Evenin' xda!
I'm the proud owner of a non-rooted SGSA and I am having a couple issues I couldn't get my head around so I was hoping that you guys could give me a hand.
My phone's csc was MTL (not my country's csc) and since I couldn't find any JB version made especially for this csc I flashed one released for my country (COA). It ran really smooth for a couple of weeks but every once in a while my systemUI keeps freezing ,or I get some really annoying lag spikes while performing easy tasks like messaging through the stock app or browsing my contact list.
Now, should I flash some other version of JB , a more stable one, if there is such thing, or should I go ahead and root my device?
Would rooting help me out, and by that I'm asking you to tell me whether there are any stable custom ROMs and/or kernels that I could use? (this is where my inner noob kicks in, I'm pretty helpless )
Thanks a bunch !
P.S. I did try to search for answers but I couldn't find anything useful.
Root I would say is a much better answer to your problem.
Root your phone, flash cocore kernel and debloat your system ie remove unwanted files. This will definetely boost up your phones speed and your phone won't freeze.
If you want to.. you can also try CynogenMod 10.1

mannulko, I recommend cm10.1, cause aside from some annoying things such as low volume in call, it's very stable, but you could try some custom roms out there, you could try first version of harsh jelly with any of the cocore kernel, just try different versions and see which one suits you!!!
