Help build a rom with sense 4.1 - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hi guys.
Im not a good english speaker.
But i have something to tell guys.
Im not the developer of the rom with sense 4.1 venom.
He is chun, a korean developer, who succesfully build up Holiday Sense 4.1 with Venom for the first time.
Sense 4.1 rom has been released in korean forum for a while. But not here as he promised Team Venom. As i knoe.
Unfortunately, this man googled and found this rom.
He posted it for couple of hours. And then closed the thread. Because he didnt know it was not allowed.
The rom wasnt. And isnt gonna be without Team Venom's permission.
And this romwhich modfied, posted today and you guys downloaded was illegally modified and released.I had a convo with Chun. And he is very disappointed by this guy that he was never asked for that.
Its not a respect of developer. There is still some bugs hes been working on it.
What if he gives up and leaves us?
He fixed ril problem with 4.1
He is the one of amazingest developer we have.

Thanks for the explanation. Patiently waiting for a "clean" rom from the developer Chun.

nevermind thanks zero

Please tell chun we had nothing to do with the ROM posted here. We will respect him and his ROM and not post it here as its not allowed. Tell him thank you for his ril fix and if he would ever like to work with users on here to help with ROMs we are here. Users here are just excited because there isn't as much development going on as other phones

Im gonna tell him about that.
Hes a very nice guy. So he will understand all.
By the way, i think he decided to release his rom without Venom. I will ask him if he has a plan for releasing his work here by then.

Why were venom tweaks included in the first place anyways?

His first rom was built up with Venom tweaks.
He confirmed it works fine with sense 4.1, no ril problem.
Therefore, he asked Team Venom to have the tweak with his rom for korean forum.
After all, he released it in korean forum finally.
And somehow blahblah happened. And this rom leaked.
He thought they wont find it out since it was posted in korean

I don't see any of the venom tweaks that are being said all I see is a stock rom well that's just me

The tweaks app is gone but the code needed for the tweaks is still there.
Moderating from my One Xl

Yes its many files in system framework and in the build.prop lines that are part of the tweaks

The developer, Mr. chun wants to know what code is still remaining, so, with PM, would you specifically tell me which codes are?

I had a conversation with him. and found out some posts in korean forum that i didn't notice for a while. (cuz i'm not using holiday anymore. galaxy S3 <3)
anyway, you guys are right. he used venom tweak, but couldn't have a permission.
that's why he didn't post it here.
he has sent PM to two developers long time ago, but still no replies.
first. he used venom tweak, but no framework and codes i think, (i don't know about this... even he told me)
he was like he removed venom scripts and stuffs, and deodex apps by himself.
second, he posted it in korean forum for a week and then took it off. since he knows it's not a right thing to do.
he still has no permission for that, he feels guilty and decided to remove thread and link from korean forum.
third, he was fixing some bugs, and going to upload next rom without venom tweaks.
because he is not a pirate. And he knows this will disappoint Team Venom.
four, i think he is banned from XDA. i'm not sure if his next rom (without venom tweaks) will be able to release.

Ask him if he wants I can mirror it here for him that way those who can't read Korean can still get it

pretty much the whole rom includes venom files mods (short list)
framework.jar
framework-res.apk
android.policy.jar
htcextension.jar
ext.jar
i didnt check systemui.apk, htclockwidget, or any other jars and apks that typically are modded, but they might have venom stuff....really should be on the developer to a) not use someone elses base anyway or b) verify on their own no code remains if doing so

Maybe he didnt realize that or something.
He used to be a kernel developer. Kinda newbie for roms.
I will tell him about this and i'm pretty sure he's willing to remove them all or use another basis rom.
His rom is base on another rom that contains venom.
I feel sorry for this.

This is like an up hill battle lol. That wasn't a dig at Team Venom by any means. Just sounds like Mr. Chun has to start from scratch almost from an RUU to ensure no tweaks or anything are being used. Can he share how he got the RIL to work in the first place? This could be a team effort and we could certainly get something in the works more easily in my opinion if the developers could work together on this.

Same opinion. But he still want to do it himself.
He said he thinks he removed them all for sure, but maybe he didnt.
Here's what he just told me
I dont think it makes sense there was still contaning Venom sources on the rom, The chinese developer posted that he changed frameworks and apps that he worked (deodex)
It seems like frameworks and apps were changed but maybe just some.
Unless that, Developer wouldnt find out any codes from them.
Thanks for checking.
To make sure, My next rom will have new frameworks and apps that doesnt contain any venom codes. (Deodex by himself)
Also he said, he already took off venom apps from his next rom.
It will be like stock or another tweak.
Anyway he's wondering if venom developer can verify/confirm that his next rom contains any venom codes.
So he wont make mistake for sure. (He will link you the rom.)
I think he's just too elementary developer missing codes delete.

seeing as megaupload is down can someone please create a mirror for some of the roms
Well I was thinking of making a new ROM "bible" since the old one is not being updated and would have put mirrors...
But i got my phone taken away >.<
For now just ask in the ROM's thread...
Or just ask here what ROM you want specifically
hey frankdrey, ive thought about this too. if you do let me know and i can help out with testing and such

Nice!
Is it from source or just a winzip?

Development resources?

I am looking to learn to develop for this phone. After so many people have left we are in desperate need.
I have experience coding on PC and light experience on WINMO 6....
I am reaching out to the community for resources on how to learn to develop for the Vivid. Any Direction will be appreciated.
I would also be willing to learn to develop for this phone. I'm a computer science student at MIT and have coding experience, but have not done anything related to Android so I'm not sure where to begin.

You can try this kitchen. It kind of works if you start from custom Rom as base.
At least gives you idea of what you have to do. You can than develop more depending on how good ur Unix or scripting skil are

WARNING: If your HTC device is not listed below, and it does NOT use a 'YAFFS'-based filesystem (e.g. usually the mid-range and high-end devices don't use YAFFS), do not attempt to flash a ROM that you built with this kitchen. Instead, you must do the following if your device is NOT listed:
Create a file under the kitchen's /tools/edify_defs folder, with the name being the same as the value of ro.product.device (found in your device's /system/build.prop file).
See the template file in the edify_defs folder to see how to set the mount points inside the file you created. Look at the other files in that folder for examples on how to do it.

Since the Vivid is not listed as one of the compatible devices, do we need to do this? I saw the Rezound on there is why I am asking
I too am going to give it a stab. I have experience working with Cyanogenmod as well as a ton of C/C++/Unix/Scripting/Driver experience. Lets see what we can make.
I used it and there is nothing device specific stuff that should matter

True platform development resources are slim right now...
Read this website http://www.kandroid.org/online-pdk/guide/index.html for a decent but outdated overview of platform development and bring-up.

At the bare minimum do what WC said but I don't recommend you use someone else's custom ROM as your base for a multitude of reasons. If for no other reason, you'll inherit any flaws they may have unknowingly introduced and you won't understand the changes they implemented to make the improvements they made.
I'm a little rusty, but my team and I develop on the HTC Dream/Magic. I own about 6 devices right now and just gave away 3 others to a developer on my team. It's kind of funny, even though I've owned all these devices, I've never really developed on any of them since there's always so many other people already doing so.
But since everyone left and there's no competition right now, I think I might start developing again, I just need to know what you guys want and I'll see what I can do.

I think most are just looking for a good solid ICS rom, with Tethering working... anything else would pretty much be a bonus. I think "MOST" would be appreciative of pretty much anything at this point

Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
If that's the case, than from my experience it is a bit harder for someone with no knowledge to start with stock ROM. Out of the box the kitchen did not work very well with any stock ROM. It was easier to tweak a custom rom because the DEV had fixed the issues which I don't know if every one can solve. e.g some may just struggle to get system.img to work in this kitchen , again that can be trivial for some to fix and some noob's may find it hard.

It's all trial and error my friend. Later tonight when class is over I'll try to create a rom from the Telstra 3.5 RUU. I tried the ICS stock rom, but I wasn't able to deodex about 50 or so files. Hopefully this time around the process will go smoother.

Thats not learning then, thats taking someone elses work, start as everyone else did, everything is out there to be [email protected] all have to learn somehow, but the way your saying isnt the correct way to learn...its called kanging, then tweaking something here and there and calling it your own creation....truely learn something and start from scratch,we all did,so why would you expect it should be easier for you?

As far as resources go, download the kitchen, and DO NOT use it, rather analyze how it works. Look over the scripts and see why it does what it does, if you don't understand something, google it.
That'll help some of the beginners here.

I wouldn't consider that development and the OP asked for development advice. My previous post provides ample information to "do it the right way", team that with extracting your source from RUUs and you've just become a real dev. You will possess the necessary knowledge and tools to create your own ROM.
Then after you create your ROM if you still have problems that another dev has resolved you can respectfully contact that dev for guidance on what they did to resolve it.
That's the way I would want someone to use my work anyway.
Read this website http://www.kandroid.org/online-pdk/guide/index.html for a decent but outdated overview of platform development and bring-up.
Check this post from Cyanogen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6243873
Use the aforementioned kitchen to extract "stock" carrier base ROMS if you choose not to build from source.

i also read the wiki "how to port CM" and i've gotten stuck, i just really don't know what im doing and would like a helping hand.

You need to have the same base to port roms. You cant port a CM10 golfu without a build CM10 golfc
well if that is so. then where are the roms for golfc? or are you talking of the other way around?
other than your confusing answer does that mean not willing to teach/help me?

Change the Ril? and then have a kernel which supports that Ril? @soupmagnet was working on this kind of thing, think it's a lost cause as only like 3 people ever bought a golfc (not sure that even is it's codename tbh)

Well, after hanging around here for a little while, I learned that you were definitely not exaggerating when you said less than a handful of people have the golfc and want to customize it. I have a new addition to my family, and with the new moderator duties and the Kindle Fire support I already provide, I just don't have the time to devote towards getting a working ROM for just 3 people. The golfc is cheap anyway and I just gave it to my wife because there's not much fun to be had with a phone that is only rooted and still has S-ON. Note to self: Never buy another HTC phone.
I still have a working root for it (Linux) if anyone needs it, but it's just a modified version of Bin4ry's "Root Many Android" (used with permission of course), and anyone with a little scripting knowledge can easily make his exploit work for them on pretty much any OS.
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more assistance

There is currnently no official GolfC forum. Since this is a GolfU only 1 or 2 ROMs will work on the GolfC.
Base: I mean a source built ROM with the device tree edited to the according specifics.
There is no device tree for the GolfC Neither is there a base to use because of that fact.
I have no experience in building device trees therefore I don't really have the ability to help you.
You could try SHTD (fuk u Olli <3) but be careful of bricking your device. I heard that installing GolfU recoveries and boot imgs will brick your device.
Make sure you have a backup of the current ones. Please.
If you do something that makes your phone melt or turn into a ring that wants to get melted in a volcano, don't hold me responsible.
I gave you all the information you asked for, if there is anything else go ahead and reply =3

Um, it can't be done by us, unless you learn to build from source (use google) and learn to configure RILs (google it) then simply no, it cannot be done, bad luck having a CDMA device /: I think that's 2 to the tally of CDMA now..

CDMA: 2-5

[Q] Port HTC One ROMs

Hello all devs and HTC One users. I've been searching a lot on XDA, Google and all over internet but couldnt find a better place to post this. I just got a HTC Butterfly S and wish to use CM, Paranoid, Carbon or ANY other rom which I can use CM Themes Engine and have an AOSP look. I had a HTC Sensation before, and loved everything I had using CM ROM.
I wished some dev here could port any of this ROMs to this device, I know is not an easy job. I already tried to do such work, but all tutorials, guides and etc on XDA refer to a BASE ROM, and my device is unsupported, so I cant have a base ROM to port. I know M7 has almost the same specs as ButterflyS, so maybe is a little easier.
I hope someone can help me, because I THINK I did all I can. Thanks :good:
--EDIT--
I'd like to know how XDA works with hiring devs to do such work, I can donate money, it will be not for free. Thanks
PS: Sorry for my bad english.

We dont "hire" devs. Development starts from the people that use the device. Even big name roms will not work on a device that someone on the team doesnt own.
So your best bet would be to find someone with the device, Then track down all the kernel and device source code.

Thanks zelendel, I understood now. I'll contact some devs to see if they can help me. Do you know someone I can start with? Thanks once again

Let us thank all Custom Rom devs here at XDA for our device!

We all bought our devices for one reason or another but have came to XDA with the intention of making them better and some of us have done much more than try to fix tiny issues. I want to thank all who have and are developing Custom Roms for our device. If I have missed anyone who has contributed I compel you to write his name so I could add him along with a link if any! We should all know how hard it is to code. For some it's easy but for the most part it's hard work and people tend to forget that. I myself have started learning Python thanks to these people and a fairly recent show named Silicon Valley from cough* cough* 2014. So without further ado! Here are the people I want to thank and you could thank too if you haven't already in one way or another:

A thanks to @sokkoban for making ever so slight but very useful changes to our stock emui roms. Link to some of his progress (I had to add his blogspot with his work since most of his threads here are deleted)

I thank @dkonect for sharing once again the recovery needed for these roms which is developed again by XePeleato link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/twrp-3-0-0-0-p8-lite-kirin-t3343320
That includes me thanking haky 86 for giving us CWM but I put TWRP's link up there because it is currently the most used one for our device with full fearures. Pls don't kill me >___>...
And again a thank you to @hackslash (thank you for mentioning him) for helping everyone mentioned above and developing for honor 4C. (If you want to I could add someone here •___•). link to his ongoing process (if I haven't missed any):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4c/development/cm13-huawei-honor-4c-based-hisilicon-t3367224
I'd like to then thank @codeworkx for even starting to and helping everyone here with his code on the Honor 6. Some of his progress here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-11-honor-6-t3019056
Also I'd like to thank the Mate 7 developer who I couldn't catch his name again for helping with the RIL issues. If he is the person I think he is then he should be @gabry3795 with his process right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...pdate-ascend-mate-7-stock-derivative-t3241661
If that isn't him then I compel someone to help me again but even if that isn't him I'd still like to thank that person for making a petition regarding huawei's closed source information. Granted it isn't for our device but it's for the right cause.
As you also might've noticed, our developers could use help and as somebody who is helpless in coding I feel the need to at least ask around if somebody is capable to help if needed. I am not forcing anyone I just ask politely.
Thank you for reading this long post! Here is a potato person>> (>*__*)>
P.S I excuse myself for any other mistakes in my writing if any because I didn't double check everything.... >____>

It looks pretty fine, the name of the MT7 developer is correct. About the help, the help We need comes from China and doesn't want to know anything about us. That doesn't mean that if you are not Huawei you can't help, I appreciate every contribution. In my opinion you should include as well to @hackslash even though he's working on the Honor 4C, his contributions have been really great and it's a pleasure to work with him as well as with all the people you listed above.

Thank you for mentioning him and for making me interested in Python. If you're wondering how. You once said you're a C++ dev and I know a little of a similar language named C# but in order to understand more of these two languages I needed Python. And so swish swosh >>
Actually, you should thank for RIL @codeworkx who was developing CM for Honor 6, @gabry3795 just took his code from H6 device tree.
You should include sokoban too for making deodex rom for this phone.
Thanks to all Devs for working on our device ! ^_^
Btw is there any stable rom going to be released ? Wt about CM 13 ? Are we gonna get it or not ? ☹☹☹

Is it going to rain tomorrow? Just kidding, no idea. If you want my opinion, I think We'll achieve it (We = someone out of the 5 people that fork our repos each week), not today nor tomorrow, nobody said it was going to be easy !

Hello, sokkoban.
I've installed your B574 Deodexed and I have two suggestions for your future version of ROM:
1) Implement multi window directly inti ROM. It's a feature many people want and also people are having issues with your rom when using multi window.
2) Auto hide navigation bar. There is a button but it's very annoying to press every time you go into an app.
And I have one question:
3) Are you only going to make ROMs based on Chinese ROM or you will also make European ones?

Thank you!
@Prostokuche Thank you for this mention, I am proud to contribute to this project. After all we are all fighting the same battle And yes, I started the petition about a year ago forcing huawei to release the sources needed for a custom ROM (Mate7 scenario is worse than the p8 one )
I also want to point out that the HuaweiRIL.java module belongs to cyanogenmod project as stated in the license header. My edit on RIL project are signed by me and those to the HuaweiRIL.java was just to exclude features that are not supported by Mate7. :highfive:
I hope you can release a fully working ROM for your device! Good luck!
