It works just fine.. you can use speakerphone with just about any VOIP carrier. There's no earpiece so everything is on speakerphone. I don't care to spend any time enabling carrier calling.

That is a little pity..
In many countries, such as China, VOIP.Skype, is not very useful because the 3G signal instability.
Many people have said they would pay some money if 2G is working.so do I

Voip Voice Calling Works
Last nite I downloaded GrooveIP, plugged my earphones from my Galaxy Note in and called my home phone .... worked! Was able to hear in the earphones, and record a message using the earphones microphone on my home message machine.
This is on a black Samsung Galaxy Camera with the 4.1.2 update applied.

When I tried people couldn't hear me..

press the speaker spot on the dial pad and see it that works, if that doesnt see if the mute is not on. Also there is a list of routers that do not work well with this program, so if you have a wifi xoom then try a diff router signal

So what number does it call from? Do you have to go through a SIP or what?
Also, I wish bluetooth headsets worked with the XOOM. I hate speaker phone mode and I'm sure that's the only way this would work.
After trying several different alternatives this is the best so far. The quality is great on my side but there's some echo on the other side. I'll have to try it with some headphones to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for sharing.
It should i did a couple of test calls using wifi and 3g and it worked great! I dont have a wifi model so i cant say for sure but the dev website says it will!

Interestingly (for me, at least), my Moto S9 BT headset actually works well with the Xoom. In fact, I had pretty much discarded it until I got the Xoom and tried it out. It skips/drops constantly with my Tmobile G2 and with a BT add-on for my ipods and it had the same problem with every Android phone I've tried it with, from the G1 to the MyTouch 3G. The S9 had already been replaced at least once if not twice to see if the skipping would go away but it did not. I'm saying I could not have the phone in my shirt pocket and phones on my ears without it constantly cutting out - really worthless until now.

works good and just so everyone knows the xooms mic is on the bottom of landscape orientation you have to talk near it to pick up your voice

Record Phone Calls on Bionic

First off, Let me say this. In Ohio (where I live), and most other states, it is legal to record your phone calls as long as one of the individuals involved are aware the recording is taking place (no phone tapping). Some other states it is illegal period, thus leaving it in the operators hands to do the research. This research has been done, and for me, this is legal. Please dont turn this into a right or wrong post. Too many of those exist already.
Legal bullcrap aside, I need to be able to record my phone calls from my droid bionic. I am already rooted, and willing to spend some money on this. I know there are many other that are as well.
I've tried all the popular recorders in the market, and they all have issues on most of the droids, including the bionic. It appears that the software disables this feature, and I need it unlocked in my phone. If someone were to be able to bypass this restriction, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one sending donations.
If someone would be so kind as to look into programming the bionic to activate this feature, I would be forever greatful. I had the feature on my old Samsung Saga, and it helped out so much.
I am also interested in this. I assume it shouldn't be too hard...just like the 12 and 13 channels on 802.11. Unless maybe Motorola disables it at the firmware level.
I've been reading and it seems like recording my voice is not a problem, but recording the caller is an issue. (App wise not legally, stay focused) I've not heard definitively if the issue is hardware or not. At the risk of distracting the posse in the quest for an unlocked bootloader, does anyone firmly know one way or the other. (I've read the ROM is blocking it, and the hardware is not capable.)
For what it's worth, if someone is willing to delve into it I would put in on it.
As Google voice as my primary number when I get a call I can press 4 to record. A voice says voice recording or something like that and when I hang up I have an email with the recording. A work around if you need to record something.

Yeah, Google voice is nice, but sucks for recording. I make most phone calls, I dont receive them too often. Plus, you have a lady that loudly says "this call will be recorded" after you press the number 4 into their ear.
If it's the rom, I would like to know how to change it. Many motorola owners especially, would be very appreciative of such a modification. I like it when my call was recorded and i could choose whether to save or not with allcallrecord. Usually not, but it was nice when i could if i talked about something important.
Google Voice is not a good alternative, It kind of works, but I would like the whole thing to work.
I know that MIUI does this natively.

Actually MIUI isn't available for the Bionic, and I know the Droid X version of MIUI says it is recording but the file is corrupt and too small to have actually done any recording.
There does need to be a program that handles call recording discreetly, while there is a distasteful side of this, there are plenty of legitimate reasons. I'm a journalist for instance and would love to start doing phone interviews with my cell instead of going to the office and getting setup with special gear. Our celebrity interviews are always taped (with permission). Also investigative reporting... which is why I said discreetly.
There are plenty of businesses that would pay decent money for a good feature like this. If someone is doing this project, the best way IMO would be to have an option to record call, and record in the room, and have it save to phone and option to save to drop box (real time) so for instance...
If me as a journalist decides to record a Chicago Police officer breaking the law it would go right to drop box. They have made it a felony to do this, but as a member of the media I'm entitled constitutionally speaking to record a public servant and to report on it. Normally what would happen is they would take my phone, beat the **** out of me, arrest me, and then either plant drugs or a gun on me.
I know that sounds odd, but we have issues in Chicago.
we dont have a custom kernel yet so its not possible. once we get a new custom kernel we should be able to have that integrated
That will be awesome. Keep me posted f something comes up. I'll keep my eye out as well.
new custom kernel
I am also aggravated that I can't get an app which will record calls on my bionic. I live in a one-party state, so it is legal for me to record my coversations....discreetly or otherwise. Like the others, I find myself in a situation where I really need this functionality. Does anyone have an ETA on when this will be made available? Will I need to buy a new phone because it will require a hardware fix? Or can it be fixed with an OS update?
I realize the actual "fix" is probably not available yet....but it seems like some of you might be on the down-low with why it doesnt' work and what it will take to fix it.

I believe its a software fix/modification. Something would have to be put in place to actually make you not be able to record. Hopefully one of the roms will allow this to happen.
Bump Bump Bump
I could really use this. My lawyer is telling me I need this for the situation I'm in. My evo 4g from sprint was able to do it with the stock app just fine. Wish this phone was the same way

If this is right then it won't happen until the bootloader is unlocked which according to some posts that I've read won't be for a year plus.

Yay!! Anyone know if the Samsung Charge/Stratosphere or any of the other 4G phones record calls? If they do, I may be switching. For all that I do with my bionic, recording phone calls reigns precidence over dual core and webtop, not to mention a glitchy phone in general.
Turns out, the Stratosphere works with Total Recall. I'll try the Samsung Droid Charge and see. I may end up getting it instead.

Yes, agreed!
You need a custom kernel that supports this feature, which motorolas do not. So until the bootloader gets unlocked or somebody figures a way around that it is more than likely not going to happen.

Need call recording

hey guys I have an issue with att telling me I am tethering when I am not. They are taking my unlimited data away. I am collecting evidence against them in the form of recorded phone calls where they are flat out telling me they are above the law. My lawyer is pretty excited lol. Anyway, I need someone to point me to a captivate from with working g call recording. No apps I try to seem to work. Fyi I am aware of the legality which is why I tell att I am recording them for the purpose of using
The call as evidence in court. Thanks for the help. I am tired of their crap and am going g to do something about it. Hopefully I can set some type of precedent lol.

In the main search box on this page, to the left of "find you device", just search "call recording on captivate" and you will find many choices.
Paragon has it. Its a froyo rom though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915698
Keep in mind this is illegal on some states.
Thanks gents. I'm working g twelve hours a day seven a week now so I don't have time to search through threads, wanted an updated one so I asked. Froyo is fine I only need it for a day or so. And its not illegal if I I form the other party, and in most states if it is over a line you own you are allowed to record anything you like.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
Pretty much as long as you tell the person you are recording them, its legal. Also, I believe the "line you own thing", otherwise how are all these celebrity phone calls leaked w/o major lawsuits where the action of recording and not defamation or whatever was the base of the lawsuit. Then again, pretty much if you are rich (celebrities, politicians) you can get away with just about everything anyway!

The best way I found to do this is to use the Firefly ROM. It is a Froyo rom and is no longer supported, but still works flawlessly. There is a call recording zip that you can flash that will add call recording to the ROM natively. Take a look at the following links:

Call Recording Zip - take a look at the second post on the page for more mods to the ROM

Headset mic way too sensitive

Hi All,
Got the Z1 last week about 9 dates ago as a replacement for a Samsung Galaxy S3. Generally liking it, though struggling to get used to the size of the handset. One major issue, though that I can't easily sort or find an answer to anywhere.
Basically, when I use a wired headset with inline mic for phone calls, the microphone is way too sensitive. It picks up every movement of the headphone cord, every rustle on my clothes, etc. Tried about 5 different headsets, including a dedicated Android one button Sennheiser headset. All the same. None of these proved a problem with
Anyone any ideas on what's causing it or how to fix it? Is there something simple I'm missing? It's making calls a painful experience.
Thanks in anticipation.

Nope. In one case, the headphones/headset goes back as far as an IPhone 4, so about three years ago. This is the first time I've had the issue with any of them.

Tried that. No change. S3 better than this? In this respect only. V pleased to see the back of the S3, as it constantly had firmware issues, caused, no doubt. Random battery life issues (sometimes lasting a day, sometimes a few hours), crashes, screen redraw issues, glitchy music playback. I could go on.

I think with Root you can get work anything even the sensitivity of your microphone. It can be easy like edit build.prop that something more but I am sure the sensitivity can be managed. If I find something I will post.

Wi-Fi Calling feature along side Call Recorder Apps & Roms?

I have been battling an ongoing issue with Wi-Fi Calling problems and have finally been able to narrow it down to "Call Recording" apps that I have tried. Sorry, I don't have the specific ones that have all failed on me since I've tried so many but now the minute I install one, as soon as I make a call at home over Wi-Fi, it sits on "Dialing with the dots", then finally reverts to the towers which in my case, I only get 1 bar in my house and nothing but static so Wi-Fi Calling feature is very important to me. I guess the "Call Recording" inability in my case is more of a bother and curiosity if anyone else has run into similar issues or any suggestions on a given "Call Recording" app that doesn't interfere with Wi-Fi calling?
Thanks!
No Dev has made a work around on any yes I said any phone to support WiFi calling record. We not gonna see that for a few years be my guess.
