[Q] downgrade from ICS to GB - Samsung Galaxy Mini

here is my situation:
rooted galaxy mini with CM9 installed.
i remember when i installed this i first flashed my stock phone using odin. that process rooted it. then i installed CWM in recovery mode. then i installed the CM9 file again in recovery mode.
now i want to go back to GB. i am downloading the official rom for my country from sammobile. my query is that do i simply install that rom from recovery mode or do i again have to flash it using odin or something? also is there a way to UNROOT my mobile or not?
kindly give me a detailed procedure. i looked in the threads for this but did not find detailed info.
thanks in advance

flash the official rom with odin and there you go

Either flash any custom gb-based rom, or just flash stock with odin, the second option will also unroot your phone. Search on yagyagaire.blogspot.com for detailed instructions.

Flash the latest stock rom again..
But first wipe data/cache

what version of odin did you used? for galaxy mini it's recommended to use odin 4.38. here's instruction that i used to upgrade my phone to gingerbread http://yagyagaire.blogspot.ie/2011/12/how-to-upgrade-samsung-galaxy-pop-to.html#more just replace firmware with your region, for me it was europe

firmware is not important..any region is fine...
samsung is racist XD for dividing the same old AOSP gingerbread into different locales and simply adding new lockscreens in new builds XD
lol

Wipe data and cache before and after flashing. Or try using the firmware which has 4 files... use XWKTN.

On what firmware was your note before update (e.g. 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 4.0.3, etc) and how long did you wait? Try rebooting first either with battery pull or without.
Just flash any GB ROM (Find it on first link on my signature, post #2)
and wipe cache and data from recovery.
Dont wipe on existing ROM, may be you are on ICS after update.

You have two option, one as i said in previous post
OR
Flash safe kernel (like hydracore/speedmod) using PC odin
then wipe cache and data from recovery, but you have to reset counter later.

download and flash any GB ROM using PC odin. Steps are already mentioned there.
after flashing (you will find force closes, dont worry for that)just enter to recovery by vol up + home +power)
and wipe cache and data
your device will boot normally
Then

download and flash any ICS ROM you like and flash same way
BUT DONT WIPE after flashing ICS(if you have followed as said above, you won't need to wipe after flashing ICS), if you want to wipe flash safe kernel first.

Install Stock Rom

Hello, since I don't really like my custom rom (remics 1.4) I would like to install back my stock rom (normally the latest gingerbread since I couldn't do any update). But on sammobile I can't find any roms for my country, I'm from belgium. My phone isn't simlocked, I don't know if it has any use to know that?
Btw, my phone is a galaxy s plus (GT-i9001)

Here is a collection of an official Samsung released Roms:
Tutorial how to flash them HERE.
Thanks man, that's really helpful. So I can flash any of those roms without worying about being belgian or anything?
Should i format my phone before flashing those roms?
From my experience you should do a wipe/factory reset before Odin the stock Rom.
I have Odin a stock Rom without wipe and it didn't boot so I cf-root, wipe from recovery and booted.

sorry to bother you a bit more, but I prefer to be cautious with all of this, these roms, more precisely the XXKPU one (last in the list) is I think from poland? Does it have any importance? Since I am belgian, i need the french language haha
Oi, guys, I really need help please!! I did wipe data/factory reset in clockworkmod, then i closed my phone and flashed the stock rom (XXKPU) with Odin. But now my phone isn't booting! Or more precisely, It's just the sequence with the "S" appearing that comes over and over again!! What did I do wrong and what can I do please??

[Q] Help! Downgrading from JB 4.1.2 to stock ICS

Hi,
Please if somebody can help me sort this mess out.
I've flashed my note from stock ICS to JB (from telcel mexico) 2 days ago. it was pretty smooth and i liked it so much. but then i noticed that this rom had caused my network to be locked and i cant even connect to my network. i can just use wifi to stay online. so today i sent my phone to the store hoping that they can unlock it or make the 'lock' goes away. but unfortunately they cant. they asked me to downgrade it back to ICS.
so i've downloaded the stock ics from here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
and flashed it using pc odin. but it stucked at the samsung logo. so right now what should i do? i heard that i cant wipe the data or factory reset since i have flashed the stock ICS. i dont want my note to go brick :crying:
somebody please please please helpppp
thanks
Can you enter to download mode?
Did you tick any of these "Leave Re-partition, pit, CSC, Phone tab unticked" on Odin?
If you can enter to download mode, I would suggest you to download again the file in case the file is corrupted and try to flash it again.
Btw, I have a Note from Telcel and have never faced any problem with the network and any JB rom I've tried.

downgrading from JB to ICS is never a good idea and boot-loop is not a surprise.
do not try to wipe on ICS
download a stock GB ROM for your region. flash it with PC Odin as normal.
most probably you will still enter boot-loop, but this time as you are on GB just enter recovery mode and wipe cache and dalvik cache and it'll boot normally.
cheers
Flash philz kernel for your ics rom and the do a factory reset.

it depends a little on what ROM you are on right now.
if you are on stock ROM you can just download it and do what you have mentioned, but remember not to wipe or factory reset your device before flashing Philz kernel for this ROM. If you do not intend to wipe or reset, you can continue with this ROM with its stock kernel, it wont make any difference.
I am currently on leaked ROM N7000XXLSA_N7000OXALSA_DBT - from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018978&page=57

o god yes! you need to put it in download mode before using odin in any manner.
now when you do it next time what may happen is that your baseband will be unknown and there will be no signal, but nothing to worry (i learnt flashing ROM's and the first and only stupid thing i did was what you did)
if that happens dont worry just reflash the rom in Download mode in odin and it will work..
might have to go to GB ROM for your region and then upgrade to ICS, but as nokiamodeln91 has mentioned might work if you flash ICS then flash a safe kernel from Philz and wipe data, cache and dalvik from recovery.
I first flashed ICS but it got stuck at Samsung logo so then I flashed GB ROM but on GB ROM i keep getting different ANRs
I cannot get to stock recovery - I only get ODIN mode.
How do I wipe data, cache, dalvik?

ok follow this
1) go to download mode, using odin flash stock GB ROM for your region (N7000DDLC1---------2.3.6---------2012 March---------N7000ODDLC1-----------India--------------------------------------Download)
2) if on booting you get stuck at the logo, press vol up + pwr + home key.
3) it should take you to stock recovery
4) there will be options to erase cache, dalvik, do that and do not erase anything else.
after this should let you boot up normally.
check and report.
(if this doesnt work, dont worry, let someone more experienced answer you here)
Well, I was able to successfully able to get ICS 4.0.4 and also flashed Philz kernel.
Under recovery I do not see dalvik option
I did wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition
Only above two options were available.
But after boot up, I keep getting Battery disconnected error.

Help! stuck on SAMSUNG screen.

Hello today i downloaded application called Anim Mod and then i installed it and then i opened the Anim Mod application and pressed Blur button then it downloaded something and then i had to boot my phone. wel i did boot but its now stuck in this samsung logo screen. my phone was rooted
i didnt know what to do so i just went to recovery mode and set it to factory settings and booted and its still stuck on this samsung logo...
what rom are you on ?
Im not sure :/ i have only rooted my galaxy note nothing else but if it helps its running 4.0.4 ICS
so your recovery: was that the CWM or stock recovery ? If it is recovery 3e.. stop doing a factory reset.
download http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3cnf2ax9apsebef and place it on external SD. then boot into recovery and choose apply update from ext storage
choose the zip you downloaded and flash it.
once done. power off and boot into recovery again
then do a factory reset, wipe cache, advanced> wipe dalvik cache. then reboot
Ummm i did flash that thing and i wiped data :/ i did all what you told me and its still stuck
Ok then boot into download mode and flash a stock rom using pc odin. This will take you to factory form. Start from there.

If not done correctly. Do not perform any kind of wipe on stock ics kernels. Install philz kernel for wipes. Otherwise this method is considered pretty safe.

N7000 stuck at boot screen

This phone was not rooted prior to being stuck at the boot screen. Actually, it wasn't event stuck at the boot screen. Instead, it turned on and off. I installed PhilZ recovery and was able to backup all files. Then I tried to flash different versions of CM without success. They all get stuck at the boot screen now. No more turning on and off. I also tried to clear cache, wipe dalvik something and reset to factory. Is there something else that can be done? What would be the most likely cause for the failure?

If you want to install a custom rom type CM11, CM12 or CM13 you have to install a kernel compatible with recovery
Install PhilZ recovery, then from recovery install a compatible kernel
Kernel CM11

Kernel CM12
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=16862
After flashing the kernel do a
Data factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvik/ART
Install ROM, install gapps
If it does not work
Data factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvik/ART
Format system
Format cache
Format data
Install ROM, install gapps

I did everything you said. Unfortunately, my device is still stuck at the boot screen. There were no error messages while flashing the roms and no other unusual events.

This is really strange, try to redo the procedure without installing SuperSU

Where does it say to install SuperSU? How would that be possible when Android is not booting.

I'm sorry but it's really strange, never had installation issues with any version of this rom
Have you tried this kernel to install the rom?

Alternatively, Odin a stock rom and look for a philz.zip with compatible baseband. You can enter stock recovery and then flash the philz.zip via update option. This is essentially replacing stock recovery with the custom version. I did this on a naturally occurring bootloop phone and it seems to work, this method also bypasses the yellow triangle warning on boot.
From there, if you want to use other custom roms just remember to wipe /data and /system before installing the kernel, followed by rom itself after a reboot to recovery.

I tried that. I went to samsung-updates.com and downloaded a version that I believe is compatible with my baseband version. Is there any way to check what baseband version my phone has? Then I flashed with odin and was stuck in a bootloop. I then flashed PhilZ recovery and the boot hangs at the samsung logo.

Doh! sorry not reading what's in front of me. I did once read that you can get phone number via ADB, maybe the same will work for baseband?

This phone was not rooted prior to being stuck at the boot screen. Actually, it wasn't event stuck at the boot screen. Instead, it turned on and off. I installed PhilZ recovery and was able to backup all files. Then I tried to flash different versions of CM without success. They all get stuck at the boot screen now. No more turning on and off. I also tried to clear cache, wipe dalvik something and reset to factory. Is there something else that can be done? What would be the most likely cause for the failure?

Have you tried a clean install ? Wiping /system and /data partitions then installing a custom ROM .. This option can be found in philz under install a new ROM ..

Yes, I tried that. I also tried installing a ROM with a custom kernel that works on my other N7000, but it is still stuck at the boot screen.
