N7000 stuck at boot screen - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This phone was not rooted prior to being stuck at the boot screen. Actually, it wasn't event stuck at the boot screen. Instead, it turned on and off. I installed PhilZ recovery and was able to backup all files. Then I tried to flash different versions of CM without success. They all get stuck at the boot screen now. No more turning on and off. I also tried to clear cache, wipe dalvik something and reset to factory. Is there something else that can be done? What would be the most likely cause for the failure?

Have you tried this kernel to install the rom?

Alternatively, Odin a stock rom and look for a philz.zip with compatible baseband. You can enter stock recovery and then flash the philz.zip via update option. This is essentially replacing stock recovery with the custom version. I did this on a naturally occurring bootloop phone and it seems to work, this method also bypasses the yellow triangle warning on boot.
From there, if you want to use other custom roms just remember to wipe /data and /system before installing the kernel, followed by rom itself after a reboot to recovery.

I tried that. I went to samsung-updates.com and downloaded a version that I believe is compatible with my baseband version. Is there any way to check what baseband version my phone has? Then I flashed with odin and was stuck in a bootloop. I then flashed PhilZ recovery and the boot hangs at the samsung logo.

Doh! sorry not reading what's in front of me. I did once read that you can get phone number via ADB, maybe the same will work for baseband?

[Q] downgrade from ICS to GB

here is my situation:
rooted galaxy mini with CM9 installed.
i remember when i installed this i first flashed my stock phone using odin. that process rooted it. then i installed CWM in recovery mode. then i installed the CM9 file again in recovery mode.
now i want to go back to GB. i am downloading the official rom for my country from sammobile. my query is that do i simply install that rom from recovery mode or do i again have to flash it using odin or something? also is there a way to UNROOT my mobile or not?
kindly give me a detailed procedure. i looked in the threads for this but did not find detailed info.
thanks in advance
flash the official rom with odin and there you go
Either flash any custom gb-based rom, or just flash stock with odin, the second option will also unroot your phone. Search on yagyagaire.blogspot.com for detailed instructions.
Flash the latest stock rom again..
But first wipe data/cache

what version of odin did you used? for galaxy mini it's recommended to use odin 4.38. here's instruction that i used to upgrade my phone to gingerbread http://yagyagaire.blogspot.ie/2011/12/how-to-upgrade-samsung-galaxy-pop-to.html#more just replace firmware with your region, for me it was europe
firmware is not important..any region is fine...
samsung is racist XD for dividing the same old AOSP gingerbread into different locales and simply adding new lockscreens in new builds XD

Stucking at ROM boot screen?

I rooted my phone (with app), flashed SuperNexus and few Cyanogen 10 rom, then I felt the Cyanogen 10 rom very lag, so then I decide to flash the stable rom from Cyanogen (Cyanogen 9.1), normally I'll flash thru recovery mode but this time I use the Cyanogen setting, download the rom and update thru it and now my phone stucked at the Cyanogen 9 boot mode, I don't have any usb cable with me right now, is there any way to fix my phone without computer?:crying:

Does the phone boot to the galaxy mini 2 screen? If it boots then its not hard bricked
Put the phone in ODIN mode and reflash again the stock firmware. If it still does not boot and you cant get into recovery, flash again the firmware but this time check re partition. You will need the jena or jenad pit. NOTE: THIS WILL WIPE ALL YOUR DATA!!!!!
only wipe data/factory reset & install stock again
No no always when you want to back to the stock ROM you must flash cwm and wipe data/factory and wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache and go to the mounts and storage and wipe everything then go downlaod mode and flash stock then trust me it will be ok

[Q] How to Go Back to Stock JB???

Hi Experts,
I recently rooted my phone and installed SuperNexus ROM on it after CWM mode.
I want the Stock JB back on my phone and also unroot the phone. How do I do it ?? Any pointers or help ???
I found this link while browsing..please tell me is it safe to follow this procedure for JB stock rom too.

Yes, it's safe but I advice you to wipe everything before you go stock.
Flash one of philz's kernels for JB(latest I guess), reboot recovery and then wipe everything. My advice is to wipe cache, system, data, preload, dalvik and even emmc. You will ofcourse lose everything on internal card. After that do a full wipe/factory reset(the one which says install new rom).
Then reboot to download mode, press up and flash stock JB firmware via PC Odin just like in the link.
I followed the procedure in the link and its tuck after samsung logo..just keeps reloading again ad again samsung logo..
what do i do now??

Ok, great. Now you will wipe everything.
Go to mount and storage and:
-format cache
-format system
-format data
-format preload
-format emmc(it will delete your entire internal storage, I do it to really delete everytihng, you don't have to do it if you have important data but I advice it)
Then go back and go advanced:
-wipe dalvik
Then go to wipe/factory reset and select the second one(Install new ROM - this will again format everything).
Get back when you're done.
Yes done that ..what to do next

Now go to download mode. You can reboot to download somewhere in the menu. Maybe under advanced, or under Philz settings, just find reboot to download.
When it boots, press up and hook up the phone to your computer.
Run PC Odin and you should see a yellow coloured window that says that device is detected.
Now under PDA select your stock ROM md file. Check "Auto reboot" and "F. Reset time" and nothing else.
After all is setup, click Start and wait to complete.
I am doing that.. just a question was that the boot loop issue of stock ROM?
done with odin device is reloading.
Yes it started after taking a bit long time..
I am configuring it now..
I have few questions about it..
Is my device still rooted? If yes how to unroot it.
Is philz recovery still present?
everytime I flash a ROM I will have to wipe everything?

You are not rooted anymore and you have a stock recovery, everything is stock. You don't have to wipe everything when you flash a new
ROM, but it is very adviced, also it depends on the ROM you are flashing.
The bootloop probaly occured becouse you were coming from an AOSP based ROM and probably didn't wipe anything.

If you Flash TWRP recovery trough Odin, like it is mentioned in another thread all about flashing, you can install CM13 (which is basically Android 6). You don't have to install SuperSU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...install-twrp-custom-roms-g800f-t3439853/page1
This explains just how you do it, of course you have to flash files specific for G800H and not for G800F if you have the Snapdragon version.

Thanks for answering. I think I screwed up a little. Installed twrp and rooted then I tried to install CM but it failed. I read that the reason is I got an old version of TWRP. So I wiped all but I still have TWRP and rooted. How can I wipe everything? And start as you indicated me? And where can I find a TWRP updated version because I can't find a compatible with S5 mini in the official website.

Just go to Androidfilehost.com and search for hennymcc than go into his CM13 directory for S5 Mini and download the TWRP there. You can flash it via Odin. Then you don't have to root. Just install CM13 from the same directory. No need to root at all. If you want to, just flash SuperSU which you can find on Google.
If you want to wipe, you can do that in TWRP under the option wipe -> advanced wipe -> and mark data, cache, dalvik cache and system.
Thanks again! I downloaded the recovery you told me. There's just a part that I don't get well:

Aaaaaaah you are on Stock right? If you are on Stock:
Flash the TWRP I told you via Odin and right after the flash finished press the buttons to enter recovery. DONT LET IT REBOOT! if it reboots, you have to try again. You have to go into TWRP right after flashing, because otherwise TouchWiz restores the stock recovery. It only does that on the first reboot. Once you were in TWRP, it stays.

I totally did it that way! because that's what the tutorial says. And eventhough it failed. So I don't know what's the problem
Maybe I need root after all and that's why it don't work. I tried a couple of times more and still had the problem

Did you flash stock in between so everything gets erased? With activated NaND erase button? Under the advanced tab in Odin?

Yeah. Did everything. Is TWRP indispensable to have for installing rom? Is there any other recovery?

There are other recoverys but TWRP works fine and is the best recovery in my opinion. And no, you can flash any zipaligned ROM with the recovery.
