If only inspecting costs that much, you should buy a new one....

Indeed, chances are it will be close to 50% of the price of a new one with the chance of them messing it up instead of fixing it. And you will be without a tablet during the repairs (which can be 5 weeks + from what I've read others say). Probably best to cut your losses and get a new one. But since it's apparently a hard to give answer, I'm beginning to become curious as well

[Q] Smashed screen, what to do?

I broke my screen. I think it's both the LCD and the top screen. There's a spider web pattern all over the top part and the lcd is working in one corner but green and black apart from that. The phone turns on and seems to be working "underneath" the mess.
It was my fault. For years I've been leaving phones between the base of my bed and the frame at night. This morning the base moved away from the frame a touch and the Note slipped into to space and somehow got crushed. It was bizarre and I'm not 100% sure what happened.
So what are my options?
(1) cry and just accept that my Note is gone
(2) call samsung and see how much it will cost to replace the screen (do they do repairs?)
(3) Get a screen replacement kit from Ebay and try to do it myself (can't imagine I'd have 2-300 $ any time soon, nor the expertise to do it)
(4) sell it for parts and use the cash to by a ****ty old phone
There's no way that I'm going to be able to get it repaired for free is there?
I bought it from Ebay, no carrier here (Canada) has it yet.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

I dont see any screen replacement kits available on ebay..n i guess first u must call samsung and ask the cost to fix...nd wait till u get that much money to get your note fixed..btw m really sorry to hear abt ur broken note
1. Wait a few months and you'll see a lot of this lcd assembly on ebay for much less.
2. Build a time machine, go back to the day you made that mistake and hit yourself on the head.

A damn proud Galaxy Note owner.
I think I would buy a replacement kit.
If you cannot repair it yourself, maybe someone
in your neighbourhood can help you out.
I dunno the prices for the note replacement kit.
But for most smartphones theyre are in between
$80 and $150

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/522834126/LCD_Touch_Screen_Assembly_for_Samsung.html u could buy it from here for $202
Thanks so much guys for your advice and commiserations.
I'll call Samsung tomorrow and cry, maybe they'll take pity on me, but I doubt it
I'll then try to cobble together the price of the kit, maybe they'll come down in price while I'm saving.
Thanks again for the advice and commiserations. A screen protector or a case would probably have helped I think, after spending $700+ for a phone I should have taken more steps to protect it.
I'm in Canada and so couldn't get any help from Samsung Canada or Samsung US as it's not carried over here. I finally got some help from Samsung UK and they gave me the name of a company in Birmingham I can send it to for repair.
I'm pretty nervous though as it could cost an arm and a leg.
Should I send it in, buy a screen for $230 and try to install myself or just forget it, buy a $50 phone and try to move on with my life without the beloved note?
Wait for the note to come to your country or to us..den u can get it fixed..itz just around d corner..btw i guess d 1 to b launched in your country is gona b a different note ...so buy a screen from d site i mentioned earliar for $202..nd get ur note fixed by a friend or wait for some galaxY note teardown instructions on the internet
I'd definitely find out what the cost is going to be to replace the screen from the company in the UK. If it's not much over $230 then it might be worth it.
Thing is about these screen/digitizer assemblies is all the really fragile stuff is usually put together already. You don't need to do any soldering, stripping wires, etc., you just need to unplug some ribbon cables and plug in some ribbon cables, screw in/out a couple small screws, and use a prying tool to open the phone and place ribbon cables. Thankfully this stuff isn't rocket science or they'd have a lot of trouble getting them assembled in factories for pennies a day.
Unless you get a crappy replacement phone, you're looking to spend at least $200+ for an unlocked Android phone of any decency anyway. You might as well invest that money into repairing a top-of-the-line phone that will bring you a couple years more of use. Get two more years out of it and you're looking at $10/month.
Maybe e-mail the company thats selling them and ask if they come with directions. If you can't find directions, look at other similar phones (Sammy Galaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus, etc.), or maybe find a phone-repair place in your local area and provide the part yourself, they'll be able to figure it out from there.
Then get the god damn nicest protection case ever.

For Pete's sake man, get it fixed! PRONTO! Don't even think about the alternatives.

front screen digitizer

My screen has cracked on the inside, so as i understand it i need a new front screen digitizer, they seem to go for between £100 and £150 on ebay, but, i can only find i9300 ones, not i9305, will the i9300 digitizer fit the i9305?
thanks

Go to a Samsung center, you keep warranty and pay 110£. Search for Samsung UK service locator and find the nearest to you.

hi, i've already opened the phone up i'm afraid, as i replaced just the glass once before which worked great but after a month the screen stopped working (started having lines through pic etc then just stopped altogether) so i opened once more to see if a ribbon was loose but cracked inside trying to do so.
I can easily fix this myself just need to know if the i9300 part will work or where i can find the i9305 part.
really hope someone can help
thanks
mark
It happened to me that I broke the outside glass of I9305, brought it to authorized service center and they charged me 130£ to replace whole display . Upon collection I've been refunded 20£ because they charged me the I9300 reparation fee, while I9305 was cheaper. And the screen is an original Samsung spare part.

Plus I don't see the point, you still have to find the right piece to order, pay up to 150£, do the job with no warranty of success... it's a matter of one or two days if you bring it to a service center with no further risks.

Replacement battery

What is the best way to get replacement battery for HD2 in 2013?
I'm looking for legit regular battery (non-extended). What online stores/sellers are known to sell legit ones?
Expansys will do original but doubt the price is nice :-/
Maybe a local htc specialist !
You could go for Andida battery or the generic HD2 replacement cells with black & white/grey label as both have close to standard capacity & cost around 5 to 7USD & easy to get in almost any region.
Tekcomm made good replacement cells for HD2 but they are hard to find these days.

looks just like the real thing to. 50$ I got riped.
then I bought a nice extended mutagen replacement one for only 5$
works like a charm,.
I believe you can get hi capacity battery with out going full extended aswell.
I ordered Andida battery, thanks for the link!

Screen cracked

**** ****.. My Axon dropped on the floor this morning resulting in a cracked screen.
I've bought this phone from Amazon and got it shipped to Belgium. So, getting it back to ZTE will be a hassle and cost me a lot of money. Did some research myself and found a full screen for the ZTE axon elite (I have a pro, is there any difference?) on the site parts4repair.. Is this trustable and if it is, isnt it too difficult to change the screen yourself?
Please share your advice with me,
T
Nobody who can help me out?
Do you live in the US?

No, in Europe. (Belgium)
I'm thinking about ordering a screen from aliexpress.com and try to replace it myself.
I've seen a guide about the ZTE Axon in here: https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/ZTE+Axon+Teardown/53392
I hope it isn't too hard.

Any update on a guide to replacing the screen. I have a cracked Axon Elite and want to order a new screen, but no guide seems to exist on how to swap the screen.
