[ROM][GCC4.8][11/10] EternityProject's CyanogenMod 10.2 for LG Optimus 4X HD - LG Optimus 4X HD

Welcome to the EternityProject!
What do we have here?
CM10.2-EPRJ --- Or... EternityProject's CyanogenMod 10.2 for LG Optimus 4X!
What's the point in using CM10.2-EPRJ?
It contains various optimizations made at compile time. Moreover, it isn't being compiled with the default Android toolchain, but with a custom one that better handles and optimizes the code.
The CM10.2-EPRJ package will also automatically install our EternityProject Kernel 3.4.37.
Recommendations:
Patience is virtue.
Can I use a non-EternityProject Kernel on CM10.2-EPRJ?
For now, it's possible. Absolutely.
Features:
- All the standard CM10.2 Features are enabled
- New, custom toolchain for improved code optimization and better performance
- More to come
ROM Changelog:
Code:
20131007:
- CM repos synced
- New EternityProject optimizations (OMGFAST!)
- Featuring latest revision of EPRJ kernel 3.4

- Smoother UI
20130808v2:
- Modified EPRJRIL recovery prop
- EternityProject RIL Recovery is now enabled by default.
- Trials to solve some people's problem with baseband
20130607:
- Sync'ed with CM repos on 07/06
- Added further EternityProject optimizations
- Solved Camera FC issue
- First try for solving the mobile data crash
20130602:
- First release.
Note: If you want to see the stock CM changelog, it's located at http://review.cyanogenmod.com/
How-To:
1. Copy the CM10.2-EPRJ and GApps packages on your internal memory
2. If you aren't coming from a previous version of CM10.2-EPRJ, wipe data and cache
3. Flash CM10.2-EPRJ, then flash GApps
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy!
Notes:
1. If you're looking for the Developer Settings menu, tap on "build number" N times (CM will say you when it's done)
2. This ROM doesn't work with CM10.1 kernels
3. (Temporary) If you want working SU/root: become developer (tap "Build number" 7 times in Settings > About phone), go to "Developer options" in settings and set "Root access" to "Apps and ADB".
So, what to download?
Everything is located on my website!

Just one (silly??) question, stock recovery or CWM Recovery by Dexter for the Wipe ?

Use the CWM by Dexter for EVERYTHING prior and while installing CM10.1-EPRJ.
And I want to make something clear prior someone to complain...
....the package is a freshly compiled "untested" version. Everything should work like the one I'm running right now on my O4X, but anyway, I'd prefer for ONE of you to test it prior making it totally public.
Is there anyone brave enough to test and eventually KDZ back?
I just want to make sure I'm releasing the right one.

@ musklor
is it really necassary to quote his whole post, makes things messy

i'm willing to test:victory: but if it works why do i have to KDZ back?

I'm 99.9% sure it works, but I want to make things safe, so I want to eliminate that 0.1% of doubt.

if testing is as simple as flashing the build and reporting back what works and what doesn't, I'm in:fingers-crossed:

where is the download link

@tomanlam
I sent you the link for downloading and testing.
I will make it public once you tell me it's working

I can test, I have all the stuff at work to make a kdz back.

I can also test it... Cuz it's hard to wait

[ROM][KANG]CM9 ICS 10.1 WiFi Preview 03/04/12

Hello everyone,
as the old KANG build that got posted here is very old I've decided to compile my own builds.
As many people demanded a newer build you can use mine.
Flashing this may brick your device and there is no support from either Cyanogen and his crew or me. You do this on your own responsibility.
This build is not final - it's more an alpha build. If you decide to use it you shouldn't care about bugs.
I'll keep posting updates every day (if there is any reason for it). There will be no guaranteed support and I won't add user-specific features for anyone.
This is not my work - it's mostly from Pershoot & Cyanogen. This build uses Pershoot's GitHub as base for the device.
If you like the builds you're welcome to donate for some Club Mate / Beer and new hardware.
Works:
WiFi works
No more SOD or display flickering
Buttery smooth
HQ Videoplayback
USB Transfer - use the MTP mode and stop complaining about ICS
Doesn't work:
Camera doesn't work
I will not provide detailed Changelogs. Read CM9 Gerrit ICS & P4Wifi for that.
You can find the official app in the Android Market for 1 €:
https://market.android.com/details?id=de.messerschmidt.tabkang
It supports direct reboot (normal and into the recovery) and downloading the newest rom (incl. version-check) from my private FTP.

Installation:
Flash CWM if you've got none (I'm using the Overcome one)
Backup your current build
Wipe data
Flash my build
Flash the Gapps
Reboot (may take a few minutes)
Enjoy
USB MTP:
As some people requested me to do a little How-to for enabling MTP-mode:
Go into the settings
Choose storage
Tap the 3 dots in the upper right (menu)
Choose "USB computer connection"
Check "Media device (MTP)"
Done
Notice:
This is a pure Android rom and no Samsung rom. There won't be any unneeded additions like TouchWiz, My Files, or whatever.
Look in the Market for other/better apps if you're seriously missing something. I won't any additions/apps/whatever to this rom except I want to use it myself (not gonna happen).

Because I don't know when he built his build?
The display isn't flickering anymore and I didn't get any SODs anymore.
How suitable for everyday use is this build, beside of the above mentioned issues?
Gonna go ahead and subscribe to this and see what issues there are.
Not sure how much longer I can hold out for official CM9/ICS.

Now that the flickering is fixed and SOD, I'd say it's well suited for daily use.
P.S. It also seems to be alot smoother, and you now get Terbuchet settings. Only thing missing for me is the camera.
is it safe to overinstall over DaAwesome1's ICS Kang, or must I wipe?
Does anyone know please, whether the cm9 kernal supports undervolting?

Basically a wipe shouldnt be needed. Test share your experience.
Does Netflix work? I'm this close to jumping on this.
This is just a whole new CM9 from the build posted earlier. The old build worked very smooth, as long as you didnt fill it with lots of user apps and widgets then it became very laggy. I have now restored all my apps 250+ and its still silky smooth, i have widgets with sync on several windows and app shortcuts and it still behaves as if it where just installed (empty). this sure gives hope for our tab. Go CM Team and thanks to OP for posting this build.
This build is an improvement over the prior kang, seems the CM team has been busy over the holidays. Smoother UI, screen flickers are gone, definite daily driver material. Will report back if I run into any problems.

[KERNEL][ALPHA] kernel 3.0.8 ODM/NVRM tegra forward porting

Since I had no permission to post a new thread, so Ive just posted a reply at the following link
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23783120&postcount=1338
wkpark said:
This is forward ported tegra kernel 3.0.8 based on the Nvidia's ODM/NVRM tegra kernel 2.6.32.9
http://github.com/wkpark/tegra-linux-3.0.y
about ~700 commits are cherry-picked from the tegra kernel 2.6.32
almost all commits/commit logs are preserved. some commits are not needed anymore and some commits hard to merge.
anyway this is the result of my effort.
0. prepare android-common repo. it contain's minimal changes for android. the latest mach-tegra tree is removed.
1. about 4~6 hours needed to cherry-pick quick and dirty manually. I can figure out where are the hard parts.
2. fix to make it compile
* add slab.h / remove smp_lock.h / fix .unlocked_ioctl / fix DECLARE_MUTEX etc.
3. apply SU660 patch sets. fix for kernel 3.0.x
4. first try to boot => fail~ :>
5. figure out where are the trouble making points
* timer / irq / gpio / platsmp codes are changed in the kernel 3.0 => dig the log and fix it up
6. at last I can make boot su660 up! (about ~15 days needed to fix to boot up. total 300~400 times retry to boot)
----
the uploaded git repo is rebased interactively (remove some useless history, merge some hunks etc)
and I separate it into three branches
1. tegra-orig-3.0.8 = original android-common + tegra 2.6.32 patch series
- can be used the base of all other nvrm/odm based tegra kernel.
2. su660-lg-usb = tegra-orig-3.0.8 + su660 patches + lg-usb for official firmwares
3. su660-ics = tegra-orig-3.0.8 + su660 patch + ICS touchscreen patch, camera patch by rmcc
currently it works nicely with the SU660

this is a bootable image for P990(under testing) and P999(not tested at all)
(See also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23834645&postcount=1353)
(all for CM9/ICS)

this is just first step toward the kernel 3.0
happy hacking~!
P.S.1: I also have forward ported working (but less stable) kernel 2.6.35 (about ~7 days needed to boot up)
this encourage me to forward port kernel 3.0. and this is the result
P.S.2: I'm not related to Nvidia nor LG
ChangeLog
03/20
1. fixed haptic feedback
03/22
1. fixed three annoying kernel WARNING/BUG messages
- irq wakeup warning with gpio-keys
- revert recent cpufreq_stat commit (already reverted in the lge-kernel-star)
- simplified platsmp.c (some parts of platsmp.c already included into the core code)
2. revert some part to original ramdisk.
- emmc/sdcard swap fix (for testing purpose)
- USB vendor ID fix included (for USB tethering)
3. included YAFFS (by vadonka with minor fix)
03/25
1. various minor bugs are fixed by pastime1971 (thanks~)
03/26
1. cleanup reboot/ram_console codes
03/27 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24097273&postcount=243)
1. p99x: fix oops while shutdown (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24102050&postcount=249)
2. cleanup cnt32_to_63_clear()
3. [HACK] copy the warmboot information to the original reserved_buffer
area before shutdown.
03/28
1. star: fixup some minor bugs (various compiler warnings are fixed)
03/29 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24181934&postcount=258)
1. star: add CONFIG_STAR_BATTERY_UNIT_UV to support voltage unit in uV
2. su660: adjust star_capacity_from_voltage_via_calculate()
- i think it is not su660 specifc. so Ive just applied it onto the P99x
- use star_capacity_from_voltage_via_calculate() to adjust battery capacity after singular 3G/BB/rild behavior to fix "999%" battery bug.
(there are so many posts exist on this issue e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=211)

Most is already working. Just wifi is the big problem with this kernel but I think this will be soon fixed cause we have good developers on our side.
Very nice work! man!
works well for a first test, just had one total lockup so far, but who knows if it was even related to the kernel.
i do notice that switching between tasks seems a bit less responsive, even though 2d performance indeed seems a bit smoother.
very good for a first release! hope other devs will join in here soon

Thanks a lot for this kernel! The phone feels a lot snapier! My Wifi is working without problems but I have one question, is it possible to somehow mount the SD card as the main storage? So basicly like the standard CM Mount.
thx

I commend the excellent work and thank you so much for this new kernel, but I would love to know why choose a 3.0.x kernel with respect to a kernel 2.xx, I can understand a bit 'but I want better security

My untrained eye makes me think this thing doesn't touch your vold.fstab.
If that wasn't your question and you actually want to change it, the file is located in \system\etc\vold.fstab and you can edit it with a text editor. Just swap the two lines around. (Aka, point at different targets. Any sensible person could work it out )
Edit: Also, should mention I'm flabbergasted this exists. Excellent work Mr. OP

FAQ
Q: I can't add my Google account!
A: Install the Google Apps package from CWM recovery, linked above. This is standard procedure with CyanogenMod ROMs due to licensing issues with Google.
Q: Will /datadata be in the next version?
A: Keep in mind that this is not a KANG. Read more about /datadata and why it was removed here
Q: How is this different from the other thread in the Development forum?
A: That ROM is a port of an unofficial build of CM10. This is a build of CM10 from sources for the Vibrant.
Q: Do I need the su fix from the other thread?
A: Please refrain from using fixes from that ROM.
Q: Why isn't YYMMDD up yet? It's up on the SGS thread.
A: The versions don't necessarily match up and a change in one may not be in the other.

The CyanogenMod team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!
Will be sure to try it out later today! Thanks FE.
Since I'm not much of a dev, what exactly is RIL, and what does it do?
Also, all the other functions work? Network/audio/wifi etc? DANG FE, you've been to work
Thank again to everyone who contributed to this!
edit: my chrome is acting up, what is the file size of this download?
As a reminder, I would like the other guys to not spam this thread and keep this as much as to developmental and testing as possible.
Thank FE

Thats good news didnt boot for me either when i built it a couple days ago..
Question about the kernel ramdisk, did you simply use ICS ramdisk but with pawitps areis-common init.aries.rc and init.aries.usb.rc? or were other changes needed?
Thanks Fault xD

Audio and wifi work, all this stuff is courtesy aries-common and pawitp. (My aries-common port didn't have working audio, but had wifi I think)
RIL = Radio Interface Layer and is responsible for communicating with the baseband. So basically you'll have no GSM or telephony.

It's the JB ramdisk afaik since it's CM10; so JB init.rc etc plus copied pawitp's init.aries.rc for the vibrantmtd device tree.

Is RIL disabled for now? so we wont get kernel panic? or is there a way to load it?
Thanks

Disabled for now in the ramdisk. (Which means flashing another kernel like Devil will accidently re-enable it) I do NOT recommend enabling it, you will get kernel panic galore...

I asked because I had a similar issue when I compiled a kernel with Linaro 4.7, might be same with 4.6 toolchain kernel is now compilied with (right?) .
Kernel would panic and crash to recovery upon starting to load RIL.
It is fixed by compiling samsung_modemctl with 4.3.3 toolchain and using it as a prebuilt.
Hopefully that helps? or probably a different issue completely xD

Probably yeah. pawitp patched modemctl already, my repo sync may have neglected to update the kernel cause I had changes. I'll try again later.
Edit: here's his patch: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#/c/19167/

They're both built off CM10. Don't know if they're using the same aries-common, possibly.
So, installed it over ics Rom and everything works as advertised. Thanks, FE. It's more than just a teaser.

Awesome! Thanks! Looks insane, can't wait for cm10!:cyclops::cyclops::cyclops::cyclops:
I just flashed the CM10 teaser and Devil 1.0.0-RC3 ICS\JB kernel and RIL Cell/Data is working perfect so far and everything is silky smooth so far. Unfortunately I can't get superuser working and it just causes boot loops. If anyone wants to try the latest Devil kernel or JB gapps you can get it from his ftp @ http://devil.haxer.org/jellybean/. Thank you for the little tease FE and with Devil kernel RIL has been functional so far and once root gets fixed I will go back to CM10.

[ROM][CM-10.1][4.2.2][Apr-27] Novastar nightly KANGs [Harsh kernel][Halfbreed]

Novastar CM-10.1 UNOFFICIAL nightlies
I've been compiling nightlies for personal use with my personal preferences included and since I noticed a lot of people run this setup I figured I'd share it, since it's pretty nice not to have to flash three or more zips every update.
This is meant to be an uncomplicated ROM with amazing screen calibration, good performance without having to fiddle with settings for ages and with the best new CM features.
Features:
CM-10.1 UNOFFICIAL NIGHTLY
Cherry picked:
- libstagefright: support for disabling buffer metadata
Harsh kernel [Linux 3.4.39]
- always up to date
- no need for configuration apps, runs great by default
Hardcoded halfbreed screen calibration by molesarecoming
- the best looking screen calibration for the Nexus 4, amazing improvement
- automatically integrated into the kernel ('hardcoded')
Nexus 4 default boot animation
- because I don't like CM-10.1 boot animation and of course we're all proud to be a Nexus owner.
I'm going to try to do daily updates to the ROM and the kernel and I'm open to cherry picks if you request them. Usually I don't add them myself, because not introducing bugs typically outweighs not having to wait for a few extra days. But if you guys have a special request I'll be happy to add it.
Download
Install instructions:
You can flash without wiping anything if you're coming from another CM-10.1 ROM or from a earlier version of this ROM (the CM install script wipes everything required automatically, wiping dalvik and cache isn't necessary). If you're coming from another ROM you probably don't need to wipe, but if you're getting errors try a clean install. Always do a NANDROID backup before installing!
Gapps are - as usual in CM ROMs - not included. You need to flash them the first time you install the ROM and every time you do a factory reset. You can download the most recent gapps here.
About goo.im:
There will be versions showing on the servers that are still being uploaded. If you download files that are significantly smaller than usual you're most likely downloading half of a ROM.
I've also included an automatic upload script to my build procedure. This means that there will be builds appearing on goo.im that are experimental. Usually they'll be fine, but if you want to be sure, only download after the announcement in this thread.
Credits go to:
CyanogenMod
aremcee (as CM device maintainer for our device)
Harsh (for making the best kernel)
molesarecoming (for his amazing efforts on calibrating our screen)

Very nice, I think I will give this ROM a try. I assume as with most ROMs GAPPS is not included and needs to be flashed separately?

Yes. But they 'stick' when upgrading, so it's not required to flash them after the first time (unless you wipe, of course).

I haven't tested it yet, but it should, as the kernel source is already synced with the new source.
I'll test later.

Hey flashed your ROM, it's running smooth and stable, but I am used to AOKP in terms of customization.
Too much missing for my taste. But I think this ROM isn't meant to be so customizable.
I like the hardcoded harsh kernel, because normally the harsh kernel comes with stock colors and has to be modified.

Yea, this is just stock CM 10.1.
A Harsh kernel with hardcoded gamma settings that could run on any ROM (including AOKP) is on my to do
I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but shouldn't this be in 'Android Development?' Since this is a kang, it's not classified as 'original,' unless I'm wrong...

Requested the thread to be moved. I never really understood the difference between the different dev sections, but you're probably right since this ROM is not original, just parts of other developers combined.

Guys, I'm a bit confused...
In the new roms which have android 4.1 the wifi works, but in the roms with android 4.2 (ex. cm 10.1) the wifi doesn't work. Am I right?

before fix wifi in cm10, is take very long time its the first fonctinal build of cm10.1 maybe the fix of cm10 work for cm10,1 but you have o wait
Right
Is the issue with wifi thought to be kernel / modules or userland? I was once upon a time a bit of a linux kernel / driver hacking ninja so could turn my hand to it if it was in that area.

Judging by the amount of knowledge you have on android/android device, I would recommend you stick to CM10.
