Probably to make it stay sexy for a long time.
The phone will still look great with a case/shell on it. Helluva lot better than with a used up fingerprinted scratched and cracked housing ever will.

Prefer OEM accessories over third party any day but lately a lot of them have been pretty lame (Apple's offerings included)... don't even start with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
The POGO dock looks real sleek... $50 is a bit high but I would still probably buy this. Thank you ASUS for coming through with these accessories and hey we even got street dates!

That dock will replace the iHome
No speakers on the dock, so it's a fifty dollar piece of angled plastic? For 20 I might buy this, without speakers it seems kinda.....bleh. I guess I will have to wait for some aftermarket accessories. Anyone know of any different docks, other than the backward facing dock and the Gear 4 dock?

Dock does look nice, but bit overpriced for just a "stand".
I really hope that premium cover has the smart function built into it or else it is just as worthless as the travel cover.

if the travel cover = the cover on the nexus site, no thanks, if it = the cover on the nexus site + smart feature, maybe, if it = the cover on the site + smart cover + some sort of magnetic latch I could be very interested.
the dock would be nice, $50 is a bit steep but really to not have to plug my device in each time, it might be worth it, if they were $25 or $30 I'd probably buy 3....
Hopefully more info comes out about the premium case, looks like what I'm looking for, book style, clips to hold it in, smart cover that can be a stand.
Can't say i'm that hopeful though, looking at the Target Date of the travel cover it was 7/16, so there at least 2 weeks late on that, hopefully someone comes through soon, i've got a sleeve coming just for protection until a nicer case comes out.
The dock is expensive for what little features it offers, personally I probably still will buy one (or a cheaper 3rd part equivalent) to be able to charge the N7 and have an OTG cable plugged in at the same time.

Since the micro-usb port doesn't support MHL it's a very good bet that the dock doesn't either. In that regard I'd wait for the Miracast standard to be finalised, afterwards it should be a simple matter of a software update to the N7 and a HDMI dongle that can be plugged into a TV or monitor.
Found this browsing through ebay. Very tempting as the smart dock and mhl is sold out on samsungs site. What do you guys think?

I think this one looks pretty legit and decent quality. However the dock looks to form fit the phone whereas the official one from Samsung could take one with a case on the phone. If u don't mind taking off the case every time then this one isn't bad.

Trust me i know what you mean. I've been waiting to use my 50% off at Samsung too, but honestly I think they're waiting for that deal to expire before they say they're back in stock. Better to at least physically check it out at a Verizon store.

If you look at the ad description you will see it is advertised as having a removable insert so your note can be in a slim case. I have been pondering on getting this myself but hoped someone else would pull the trigger first

I own this brand dock for my One X and it works great. It has the removable insert as this one describes and can house a small to medium sized case (One X has Micro USB on side).
I actually took it apart tonight to get the MHL to hdmi adapter out so then I can order the 5 pin to 11pin to get it to work.

Id actually like to see a mount/cradle type setup of this sort that you can mount the phone into horizontally. I want to use it in my vehicle but have yet to find a good mounting spot for the thing... I'd like to construct a custom bracket of some sort to hold the phone directly in front of the OEM radio, because I never really listen to the radio - only Slacker/MP3's... 2011 Mazda 3, non bose system, but not sure where to mount... If I found something that mounted horizontally, I could insert a bracket into the CD player and mount it to that.

When you solder to the flex board there are small metal pads on the circles. If you apply enough heat the "pads" come off revealing the solder points in which you can apply direct solder. Use a thin layer or the battery door will bulge.

At the risk of looking like a complete noob and being flamed, which charging pad do you suggest? Also, the link is to a replacement battery door. Im assuming that the wireless charger is attached in some way to that door and needs to be removed? Or is it just something that comes along with the door and sits inside the door like in your application?

My logical reason was because I had the parts and the coming soon of the official product led me to this 5 minute modification. Thank you.
Furthermore. I'd rather not wait 20+ days for delivery from Hong Kong for something I can get for $8.00 prime on amazon along with now needing to get a base charger after spending $18.00+.
Does this work threw a case at all? And is it magnetic like other phones with wireless charging built in?

HI does any body know by experience of any good and I mean very good magnetic charger that could work with the Z3TC and the Z ultra. some of the magnetic chargers I have own have a weak magnet and it wont stay while i'm using it-it comes off while i'm playing. if you have own a very good one let us know

I got the Magnetic Charger yesterday it is the DK39.
It works as well as you would think.... but 34 euro is a joke for a piece of plastic with no cable included.
A generic version for 10 euro would be just the same.
I think Sony should actually include it with the device as it is designed to use it.
I have an old Z1 mag charger, not the official one. Poor fit. I also have one for a Z3 Compact phone died Z3TC might fit with one of the slimmer adapters, but back of dock not high enough to offer decent support. Today I tried magnectorX that I got previously for me Z3 C and it works great on the Z3TC
I have tried some other brands and magnector X is the highest quality I've tried
I had one when i had my sony z ultra so it should work i hope.
On eBay, they sell the generic Z2 Tablet docks as a Z3TC compatible dock too. Anyone have any experience using the Z2T dock with the Z3TC?

I have three of these cables (work, home and car) for my Z1C phone and they have been working fine for over 9-10 months

Just tried one to charge my new Z3C Tablet and it worked just fine.
Whilst the magnet is not super strong, it is enough strong enough to deal with small movement of the phone. Never had cause to complain or curse it.

Be careful with pulling it. The glue on the magnetic port is not that strong and it can broke due to the strong magnet of magnector

@han4mi You have a smart charging feature on the edge force, can it manage when the adapter (not just the mod) starts and stops charging the internal battery? Or will plugging in have to top up every single time you plug in to charge the mod?
I'd like to use a battery mod as an alternative to wearing out the internal battery since the Z battery is sealed in tight. Even if I managed to only use the charge off the external battery most of the time, I'd still be using some unnecessary charge cycles if the internal battery topped off every time I plugged it in. Just curious. Thanks

Hi, the internal battery charging is handled by Motorola's software/ hardware, contained within the phone. As far as my knowledge goes, we can only control what we do with the mod, not the phone. I can ask the engineers about it, but there are no plans to include this feature in our mod for now.

Yeah but I meant the EDGE shield with wireless charging mod on the Indigogo website.im really excited by that mod but cannot contribute (I think $59 or similar) since there is no shipping to India

Sorry but we cannot offer shipping to India due to air shipping regulations. We can only send the bumpers for now. This might change in the near future though

Do you have a picture of what the bumpers look like on the Moto Z Play? Will the volume and power buttons be covered by the case or look how it does on the Z? Also are they easy to press?

Each bumper is made for a specific phone model, as the dimensions are slightly different. This means precise cutouts and a perfect fit. The buttons won't be covered by the bumper.
40h left and we've almost hit the 25k $ stretch goal!
I have one of these bumpers on order... Hopefully it does ship next month as expected...
