[q] anti shatter film - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is the xperia z definately shipping with anti shatter film on front and back glass? If so does this mark easily or show lots of fingerprints or is it recommended to put a regular screen cover on top of this anti shatter film.
Would anyone recommend removing the anti shatter film from the glass to allow for easier cleaning of the screen

No you should not remove it, and you don't have to add another one.
The glass it self is very hard to clean as it doesn't have a oleophobic coating (or at least that was the case with the xperia T). the protector is easy to clean.

Thanks for that.

Use the screen protector that is possibly provided in the box because the anti-shatter film gets scratched and we don't like that for sure!

I removed the film from the ion, and found that the screen picks up just as many fingerprints as it did with the film on there.

You should not remove the film. It's not there just because Sony wanted to put it on - it's there because it helps prevent your phone from breaking should you drop it. Just apply the bundled screen-protector on it and go on without worrying about the screen.

You could rempve it and apply crystalusion liquid glass. It has oleophobic properties and is also scratch resistant

Do you use film in Xperia Z?

I'm in doubt buy a protective film to use the Xperia Z, but I'm afraid to lose touch sensitivity and screen brightness too!
The anti-shatter that comes standard is very easy to scratch? I mean just scratch with normal use of the fingers!
On my Xperia S, the original film it was only scratching with normal use! I removed the film and left without!
But the Xperia Z to remove the film, the Sony comes out soon too and I did not want to lose it!
1) You left without anti-shatter film, only with him or bought another protective film?
2) Someone found to sell a new film with the logo of Sony?
You could remove the file to give it a cleaner look and then you can put on a screen protector that doesn't scratch like spigen ultra thin screen protector. But if you don't want to lose the logo put another screen protector on top. You won't lose screen responsiveness unless you get really bad quality screen protectors.
Press thanks if I helped

I bought Zagg Invisible Shield, is it good?
I have a minimal scratch on the back , used the phone very carefully but I don't know how I got it ( it's very small but it is) so it's scratches very quick ( at least in my case ) so I bought a film for the back. I will buy for the front too , but I will wait a little bit cause here in my stupid country we don't have alternatives

Did you apply a protection film?

did you apply a protection film?
I didn`t and I can see some small scratches on my device...
also, can you suggest me a good protection film for xperia z?
There Is a pre installed shatter proof film.

but it gets very easily scratched :S
I already had a few small scratches
I suggest you try one of the various cheap hard plastic screen protectors that are available. This cost only a few dollars so you can change them once every one or two months. That's what I do with my Note II
I think the point wawyed was making was your device is not scratched, the pre-installed film is.
There are quite a few threads on this exact topic already.... you can remove the pre-installed film if you wish - but you may loose your Sony logo. There are a few good replacement films out there (Spigen)
Bottom line: remove the stock film and replace, or leave the stock film - and put yet another one on top of it.

I read some informations on the net, but I` think the pre-installed one is a different kind of film
I was thinking about using a normal film over the pre-installed one

I had applied 3M Vikuiti ADQC27 to Xperia Arc S, S, T, TX and I ordered one more set for tomorrow when I get XZ. I was very pleased with this screen protector, but tomorrow I'll decide on which one to apply them: 3M or the 2 that come in the package (I ordered extra package with dockingstation, smartTags and screen protector). And yes, I put it over the preinstalled one :good:.
Where did you ordered the extra package?
get a set of these and be done with it!

The back of my phone has a couple of hairline scratches - I presume it's because of the bolts near my jeans' pocket. But the screen is fine so far. :victory:
Do you think that will be available a screen protector like the anti-shatter film that Sony put on the phone? It's scratching very easy and I'm thinking that if something similar will be available then I will remove the one from Sony and put that one. On other Xperia phones is available this kind of screen protector?

I think the chance of that happening is 1%, but I am surprised that companies haven't brought screen protectors with the sony logo/text.
Also a thing Sony could do is to bring out a services to re-apply the anti shatter sheet for us, specially since it scratches so easy.
Anyways, the reason why I don't see it happening is because the anti shatter sheet is being applied by a device, it needs to fit perfectly or it might lose it's function. Screen protectors can be applied by men, because it's only there to protect the device from scratches and such, not to stop the screen from shattering, even though normal screen protectors also do that, but on a smaller scale.
1. There is no screen protector with Sony logo because of patent / copy rights. It would be very expensive to get the right to use the logo.
2. Sony already offers the service to replace the anti shatter film. Costs about 20 bucks

20 bucks is not much but I think is not ok to charge me that money for a piece of anti shatter film that scratches very very easily, I've put an cheap film and I will look for a better one in the future to preserve this anti shatter , but extremely scratching film from Sony. That's a huge minus for them. A gorilla glass would be a perfect solution, too bad that Sony didn't think of that. But I still love the phone
I'd prefer to completely remove the anti shatter film, but something is still holding me back. Maybe it's because I payed some hard earned money for that thing, whatever don't wanna argue about that here.
I did not put any other protection film on my XZ. I think it's odd to have two on you display and to be honest there is nothing compared to real glass. the feeling is way better... still don't wanna argue 'bout that.
so I have no protection on my display and I do not use a case... "this guy is an idiot" ...I will buy one soon; I promise. For now I use a little bag where I used to keep my sunglasses. Btw Krussel has some nice covers. "get to the point dude!" ...I keep my XZ in a sidepocket of my jacket and there is nothing else in that pocket and stil I got a few scratches on my display. It does not bother me at all. You have to look very closely to see them. What I am trying to say is that the anti shatter film scratches very easy and as far as I remeber there is gorilla glas underneath... so close, yet so far. I can live with that... for now. Someday I will take it off anyway. I just love my plain black XZ without any logos. LOL, I used to put a little piece of dark tape on my old s2, just to cover up the logo.

[Q] Shatterproof screen protector

So I got my Xperia Z like a week ago and just bought the Roxfit bumber with scratch resistant protectors.
The shatterproof protector already has quite a lot of scratches in front and rear.
I was wondering if its better to remove the shatterproof protector and apply the scratch resistant ones?
Also if I apply them on top of the shatterproof protector, is it possible to cover/fix the scratches that are visible on the screen?
I applied a scratch resistant protector on top of the shatter proof one, because the pre applied shatter proofing layer is very prone to scratches. Then I have a soft touch slim case all over it. No problems.

[Q] Anti shatter film

i know about the anti shatter film having the logo on the front i might remove it anyway since there are scratches, is there any way for a replacement even if it is not official? and also is there anti shatter film on the back glass and if so is the logo on the glass or the back protective film? thanks

thank you for your help the back one came off after about 5 minutes after i got momentum lol now for the front one
I personally do not know why people didn't invest in a regular screen protector for the front and back. So the one Sony provides won't get scratched. I personally am a screen protector kind of guy.

well the back one doesn't need one in my opinion looks better without it

Does the glass scratch easily?

It seems like the phone develops New scratches on the back and front glass rather easily. I only would have a plastic pen or a key transponder in my pocket, or I would keep the phone in its own pocket in my book bag. I wanted to use the phone without a case since it's such a beautiful phone.

I have the phone for more than year. And most the time without case. All what I got is 1 scratch in the back.
BTW I always use screen protector
So I say better use protecting films on the back and front
TapaTalked from my Xperia™ Z (C660²) running Dirty Unicorns ROM!
sony has put anti shatter film on the front and the back, the tempered glass underneath dont scratch easily, if the anti shatter film scratch up pretty badly you can always take it off, lots of youtube vid on how to do it

Remove the anti shatter films from back and front of your phone. They are made from plastic and scratch really easily. Then buy screen and back protector films from ebay and install them. They are pretty easy to replace if they get scratched.
I recommend tempered glass screen protector. They "feel" great and don't scratch as easily as the plastic protectors.
