NFC Beam... Nexus 7 & Note 2 - Nexus 7 General

Has anyone had success in trying to beam photos from a Galaxy Note 2 to a Nexus 7? When I try to transfer a photo using NFC, my Nexus 7 will open the PlayStore and display file not found.
I also decided to download QuickPic on both devices and transfer pics. All it does it open the QuickPic app, still not transferring the photo.

I have the same problem with my S3. I'm going to assume it's because one is Touchwiz based and the other ROM is not. I have successfully beamed pictures from my N7 to my S3 but not vice versa. WIFI Direct works good.

Touchwiz NFC uses Wifi Direct while AOSP NFC uses Bluetooth which is why they are not able to beam each other

I beamed an entire album's worth of photos from a Note 2 to my N7. Works well when I tried in 4.2.1.
Photo beamed from gallery?

I wish I would have tried it prior to updating my Nexus 7. I've upgraded to the latest 4.2.2 update.
Only success I've had so far is beaming web addresses using the Chrome browser app on both devices.

Try turning off s-beam and keeping android beam on. Works on my skyrocket on jellybean leak.

yup if you use nfc to send files with s-beam switched on it will only work when sending to another s-beam device, switching off s-beam uses the standard nfc sending route (bluetooth not wifidirect)

Does nfc s beam work ? Can you View pics on note 2

On the galaxy note 2 there is a facility to take a pic and view it on another note 2 or s3 via s beam on the settings
Does the galaxy camera have NFC and s beam ?
It would be cracking if you could take a pic on the camera and automatically view it on the bigger note 2 screen
Any ideas ?
Thanks

No it does not have NFC (or S-Beam)
It does however have Wi-Fi Direct and it has a feature called SHARE SHOT which allows the photo to be displayed on another device instantly.
That might work at least samsung added a cool feature

[Q] Galaxy Camera with an S3

Hi,
I have the galaxy camera and know there is an easy way to share photos? I am less interested in remote viewfinder but I would like to have images appear on the galaxy s3 as I take them on the camera... What is the best way to do that? I know there are several samsung apps in the play store but none of them were pairing the s3 and the galaxy camera??
Thanks in advance!
Sal
There is a share shot function on your cam, try using that, i think its under settings then share. connect your s3 and gcam using wifi direct, i did that with my note 10.1 and all the photos that I've taken with my gcam goes to my note 10.1.
Try that and let me know if it worked for you

NFC android beam picture transfer.

I was playing with the NFC on the One and I transferred a few items between my my phone and my daughter's Note II. I noticed that when I send her a picture the Note II will download it to her gallery and she just can click the notification and open the picture. But when she tries to send me a picture the One just opens the play store and I get item not found error, like it seems the one requires an app to download the picture but when the play store tries to take me to it the One is not compatible with that particular app?
Let me know if you guys are having the same problem or a work around.

I saw this too. I saw it happen both ways (to or from the ONE) if the destination device was doing something. See if it still happens when you aren't actively down/uploading something and aren't running any other apps and are on a basic home screen (no blink feed).
That's where I was when I successfully received and sent via NFC with the ONE.
Sounds like the Note is sending the app information instead of the file itself. Your phone is attempting to locate this mysterious different app in the store, but can't find it because it doesn't exist up there. Seems like this is an issue of Samsung not coding in a way that makes their device play nicely with others.

Well, I should add I beamed between a GS3 and Moto RAZR M with success (all phones stock & unrooted).
Perhaps it could be limited to the Note II if you still have trouble after trying the above.
I just tried with my Nexus 7 and it works fine both ways sending picture, I will try later today with the Note II. Sounds like it's the Note,'s fault after trying your advice. Now if I could make Google wallet to work without rooting my phone.....
How do you do this process of beaming pictures with nfc? Care to give a short tutorial? I tried and can't figure it out. Thanks

Just put the phones back to back (might have to move it around a little to find the NFC locations) and once it vibrates click on what you want to share

... And make sure you have it enabled on both phones obviously.
Usually settings, near the top by wireless... for the HTC One press "More..." then enable NFC in there.
Reporting back, The issue is with the Galaxy Note II. I was able to send both ways pictures from the nexus 7 and the one, but when I try to sent from the note II to the other 2 devices I just get the broken market link. I check the Note's forum later.
The Samsung phone uses their own NFC app. So when you try and transfer it to any other phone other then a Samsung phone it is looking for the NFC app on the playstore. This happens with the S3 as well.
I think if you download the Samsung NFC Tectile app it might work. Not sure 100% on that.

File Expert is a good NFC app replacement. You can send a lot of stuff through it too. Like full games (apk's), songs, pictures etc.
I never use NFC so I'm not too worried about it.

Probably sbeam messing with stuff. Had this problem with the Note II trying to beam to an Optimus G
I did get a clean transfer though with a GS3 that was stock, so not sure about all of that, though I bet it has something to do with it.

The problem is not sending pictures to the Note II. the problem is sending pictures from the Note II to the one. I tried turning off s-beam and the Note recognized the NFC on the HTC one but it didn't even tried to send the picture.

Not going to happen unless you can figure out what parts of touchwiz are required, and then port it
(Or maybe sdk if it is ever released)

[Q] Help: Transfer S4 S-memo to S5 Memo problem

Hi everyone, I just upgrade my S4 to S5 and I transfer everything by TB, so far seems everything ok, but there is one problem, there are lot of notes under my S4 S-Memo apps, I think only "Memo" Apps on S5, I am able to export all my notes from S4 to google drive, but I only able to use Samsung account only on S5's Memo, and I don't know what folder is S5's memo located, I really needs those notes cause I using lot of them everyday, can anyone please let me how I can able to get those notes works on my S5? thank so much....
If you search in the Samsung app store, they have an app called "Smart Switch Mobile". Install this on your old phone and on the new and it will automagically transfer and convert the notes into the new s5 format. Worked wonders for me!
