Tutorial Translation for the SimpleBlue ROM by SNX - Optimus L3, L5, L7 General

This is my first thread here, if it is at the wrong place be free to put it where it belongs of course...
There is a tutorial telling how to install the ROM SimpleBlue by SNX in French, so I've decided to translate it into English for anyone who's interested. (Original tutorial is here: http://forum.frandroid.com/topic/136748-rom-simpleblue-by-snx/ ).
THIS IS FOR THE LG OPTIMUS L7 ONLY. You have been warned.
***I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE OF ANY DAMMAGE OR OTHER ISSUES THAT COULD COME OUT OF THIS, AS I AM ONLY TRANSLATING A GUIDE MADE BY SOMEONE ELSE*** I also don't take any credits, except for the translation part. I haven't tried to install that ROM either, so please don't ask me how to do this and that, for I am no developer.
Here we go:
Prerequisites:
Have the following USB drivers installed ((Go on the original tutorial to get the download links))
-la romSimpleBlue (v10k base version réviser)
-KDZ_FW_UPD_EN
-le firmware V10k (81 NEU/EUROPE OPEN)
-7zip pour la decompression de l archive
-le patch a lancer apres le premier demarage
Preparation:
First of all, we will prepare the necessary files for the isntallation. Unzip the file "rom a decompresser avec 7zip.zip". A file named "system.img.ext4" will appear. Then search for the file "LGMOBILEAX" located under C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX, copy the file named "system.img.ext4" and keep it open. Unzip "KDZ_FW_UPD_EN" on your desktop, launch "KDZ_FW_UPD.exe", select "3GQCT" and "EMERGENCY" then browse your files to load your "V10k_00.kdz" (the real firmware version, not the rooted version). DO NOT DO ANYTHING. Do not click on "Launch Software Update". (Keep it open the way it is), make sure that both windows are open and visible, once you have met all these conditions you can go to the next step.
Installation of the ROM:
Plug in your device and launch the flashing operation by clicking and get ready to copy the file " system.img.ext4" in the file named "phone". Open the file named "phone" and press on Refresh until the file named "system.img.ext4" appears and reaches 400 Mo. As soon as it reaches 400 Mo., go back to the file named "LGMOBILEAX", and right when the program starts to flash your device, copy your file " system.img.ext4" into the file named "phone" (drag and drop) to replace the one in the file "phone". You might get errors, it's normal, but let the flashing operation finish on your device. It will then reboot and there you go, you will be running V10k-SimpleBlue.
Installation of the patch:
You might ask what this patch is for. Actually, it will reconfigure ADW with optimized settings. So to install this patch, first set up your device until you get to the welcome screen (phone desktop), then unzip the archive, check on USB Debugging in Dev Options on your device, and launch "SimpleBlue Patch.bat", the follow the instructions ((sorry, if they are in French only, I can't do much to translate them, you'll have to use Google Translate for that...)) then your phone will reboot once done.
Knows bugs/issues:
Bug with the status bar and notifications, both the texts and icons will not disappear. Nothing too bad, should get fixed later.
When a word is too long, it will sometimes display "...?". Don't worry, it's perfectly normal.
And a few mores...
P.S.: Do not remove the memory card while your device is turned on.
This is it... The guy who wrote that just can't use punctuations or conjugate verbs accordingly, really makes following his instructions a pain (and French is my native language...!). That I haven't tried what he says makes it harder for I can't try and explain things in a clearer way.
I hope that this can help anyone who wants to get that ROM on their LG Optimus L7 (I have no idea if it can work on other devices, it seems to be made for that one only).
If you have any questions regarding translation, ask me, I'll see what I can do!
Once again, I take no credit for that tutorial, only for the translation, if it helps you please don't forget to thank me
Happy flashing!

Tnx for the translation, I too had a hard a time understanding his instructions. Thank God I was able to manage and successfully flash his simpleblue rom.
By your translation it will help a lot of user's since we still waiting for our cm9.
Good job mate.

I'm not a dev and I know next to nothing about their stuff but this weekend I will have a few spare time to kill do I'll check out if I can learn how to make a flashable .zip... If it works out well I will post it here. But I won't promise anything

[HELP] Dutty's 3.7 XT Weather modifying

Guys I have just modified the 2330..bla manila file following the guide in the Sticky. Everything is ok expect one thing, I did everything, added my city (Lugano, Switzerland). When i go to weather tab and i choose my city it says connection error, but every other city works great :S Can you please help me?
I'm having no luck either.
The instructions regarding SQLite don't work for me. Should point out you need to take off the Read Only flag else SQLite browser won't save your changes. The cities are added ok, and now selectable, but they do not update the weather. Keeps saying connection error (attempted many retries too), just for the custom ones. The default cities update fine.

Hi,
Why dont you shearch before you open a new Thread !?
you can find about the weather connection etc. in many threads.
BTW there Allready is a DUTTY 3.7 Thread, so i think there is no reason to open a new thread !
Good night ( when you ask a question in the thread about the rom you use, You might get help allot faster )
hi all
i had the same problem with the weather using david uk rom the latest one.
This what i did and it worked for me
1. find HH_0409 weathercities_xml file in windows
its under HKEY_Current User\Software\Manilla.
2. Copy the file somewhere on desktop also make a backup of file incase need to replace it.
3. Open it with note pad and change a city which u are not likely to use, find the city code from Accu Weather website and replace all the code.
4. Save the file and copy it back to phone ( i put it in my documents folder) use total commander and replace the existing file.
5. Go in HTC Weather and add new location and file will be there for u to use. Worked for me so hopefully will work for u also.
Tried installing Weather Database but Touch Flo kept crashing tried loads of versions but same result so i tried this method and bingo it worked .
Hope this helps
Thanks
Eggie
Hi all, i just wanna share how i am doing it.
1. Edit 2330dc3c_manila in the sql lite to edit your city
2. Copy the 2330dc3c_manila to storage card
3. use total commander / resco explorer copy 2330dc3c_manila file to /windows (OVERWRITE IT)
(if you update now, u will receive connection error)
4. install the weather master 1.3
5. run weather master once.
6. turn off the touch flo 3d
7. copy 2330dc3c_manila to windows/ (Do This AGAIN)
8. delete forecast_cache at Application Data\HTC\databases
9. turn on your tf3d
10. you now can update your city.

Sometimes a search returns so many results it's all but impossible to find the answer, unless you've been lucky with your chosen search terms.
If you've found the answer, a better way to educate people in the ways of searching might be to tell them what search terms you used. A link to the answer that you found by searching will also be useful.
This is a huge forum, with hundreds of threads and many thousands of posts, and tracking down the few posts that might help with an issue can sometimes be very difficult.

I agree that it can be hard to find answers especially in long threads, but if search didn't help, why not ask this question within thread. There is already a discussion at present in Duttys V3.7 thread about this subject with possible solutions so NO need to open new thread

Backing Up Rom during the buildos+package_tools phase, I get a warning

I am using Windows Vista, and I am under my Admin account. My Xperia is an X1a and I reside in the U.S..
I wanted to backup my ROM so, I followed the tutorial here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462926
So far, trying to backup the damn ROM on my X1 has been like mind rape.
I was able to extract the raw files.
I was also able to extract the rom files from these raw files.
But I failed to proceed pass this step.
So I need some help on getting pass this step:
It'll start up the buildOS + Package tools program.
- Select the buildos tab.
- Select "load rom" and navigate to your kovskykitchen folder.
- Press ok.
Click to collapse
My problem however, is that I get these warnings (or possibly error):
Could not find file "C:\KovskyKitchen\ROM\OS.NB"
Click to collapse
But I was given a prompt telling me to ignore this requisite and continue. So I clicked on continue and got this other warning:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Click to collapse
I have attached screen shots to provide for more specific details.
The 1st image is the first warning when I Loaded Rom from the KovskyKitchen folder.
The 2nd image is the second warning when I click go.
The 3rd image is proof that I did the extraction right!
The 4th image is the screen I get for waiting hours and hours of nothing happening (after I ignored the two warnings and press continue)
Other information
1) I also tried to do it by right clicking on the buildos+package_tools-2.7 and running as administrator
2) I do not have Windows XP
3) Please help help help me! Don't indulge in my misery!!!!
Update
Updates, I just watched the video tutorials on how to back up the X1 ROM courtesy of BioVolt. Every single thing he did was the exact same things I did in backing up my ROM. Except I used SKTools for the registry changes.
What the heck is going on here?
Problem Solved... I used a different Stock ROM

[Dec 21][APP]PS3DJB v2.5.1 Supports Eng, Ger, Nor, Esp & Fr

Hello everyone,
Here is my app i have been working on. It will install all files to your sd card needed to jailbreak and downgrade your ps3 with your HD2 Only. Now i have some time think this link is long overdue to be posted. Where this app originated from. Again thank you to all the other devs out there for there hard work that has now become a all in one solution.
What the app does:
This app will allow you to downgrade your firmware to any firmware you want. (PS3 Slim's cannot go as far back as Fat Consoles.) The downgrade only works with FW's up to 3.50. (If you have FW3.55 you are out of luck for now. Unfortunately there is no solution on the market nor in the community for that FW version.) This app will also allow you to patch your android build with all the files needed to jailbreak your ps3.(this will be changed real soon.) It also includes many payloads so u can use the one that best matches your needs.
Other Languages:
German version Located here I have also translated the first post in German as well. Enjoy
Norwegian version Located here I have also translated the first post in Norwegian as well. Enjoy
Spanish version Located here. It is compatible with Esp Rom's storage cards. I have also translated the first post in Spanish as well. Enjoy
French version Located here. It is compatible with Fr Rom's storage cards. I have also translated the first post in French as well. Enjoy
Instructions:
you will need to download both files found below.
DowngradeUpdater(needed)
PS3DJB Updated to 2.5.1 - English Only - Now Includes darkstone hd2froyo v3 in a custom folder just for jailbreaking. Size 103mb
Install:
Make sure you have placed your android build of your choice on the root of your sd card before installing. Your android build must be placed in the Android folder.
1.install downgradeupdater.cab to storage card. (this only contains the downgrade folder)
2. install PS3DJB.cab to storage card. (this contains the main UI and all jailbreak files)(does not include modified 3.41 PUP, lv2diag.self file 1 and lv2diag.self file 2)
Pre Use:
1. run app and select backup original android build (must do this first before you run setup jailbreak if you want to keep your original zImage of your Android build.)
2. select setup jailbreak. This will transfer all the files to your android build. if you replace your android build later on with a newer version just rerun the setup jailbreak.
Use:
1. once you set up jailbreak then proceed to select Launch PS3DJB. Follow the jailbreak instructions on the process. There are tons of tuts on how to do so. It is all they same for the most part. What is different for the HD2 is Once you boot into Android go and launch Gscript and select the payload of your choice. Then wait till it starts to auto countdown then plug the phone into the ps3 and start the jailbreak process.
2. If you want to downgrade your ps3 launch downgrader. This will take you to a mini android build made specifically for downgrading your ps3. This will not affect your other android builds
Questions and Answers:
Q) how do I know when everything backed up, restored or setup for jailbreak?
A) it will complete when the button image snaps back to normal when completed.
Q) im done downgrading and cant turn off the phone with the power button?
A) If you run the downgrade portion of the app you will need to pull the battery out when your done and reboot the phone. this is not due to my app it is part of the downgrade setup.
Q) Where is the Gscript folder located at?
A) gscript folder installs to the root of your SD card. It should install when you install the PS3DJB.CAB if you do not see it. Reboot your phone. Sometimes it caches till a reboot. not sure if its a OS issue or a Rom issue.
Q) I started Gscript and only see a couple of payloads. Isnt there more?
A) if you are missing payloads in gscript listing hit the windows button then select add script. Then finally select load. find a missing script select it and save. it will now populate to your main list in gscript. you will need to add. hermes 3.50 + PSN v4b, CE-X hybrid payload, and 2.76FW payload.
Q) I have multiple android builds will this mess with them?
A) Yes and No. It will only mess the the android build located in the Android Folder. If you want to make sure your stock android build stays stock after jailbreaking run the backup original android build button first to back up a copy of your original zImage. Once your done jailbreaking just run restore original android build to restore the backedup zImage.
Q) Do I need to install the downgradeupdater.Cab if I don’t plan on downgrading?
A) No you do not. It does not affect anything releated jailbreaking. If you hit the launch downgrader button without it installed will cause the app to display a message about it missing.
Q) if i downgrade will i loss my game saves? if so how do i keep them?
A) If you downgrade you may loose your game save. Go to system settings and back up your system. the option is at the bottom of the list almost. you can restore the same way
if you have any suggestion let me know.
enjoy!

i thought it might be but was not sure. if a mod wants to move it feel free.
This app just make things easier/noobier for people who want to jailbreak or downgrade there ps3. i personally got annoyed always having to open file explorer and hit both options to launch. i have a lot of crap on my sd card so this makes it easier for me and i hope others. it will also give you a dedicated folder for the downgrade.
i can always make the jb a dedicated folder but i notice that android runs fine with the jb files integrated. it did not affect my user experience so i did not do that originally.
Thank you! This is an extremely useful app, you have made my life so much easier...

Doesn't work for german ROMs, cause in german "Storage Card" means "Speicherkarte" and so the path for the setup is wrong ... Installing is no problem.
This is awesome
Thank you HackMimic
the only probem with using ps jailbreak on my hd2 android is that it breaks my camera
had the same problem when I made my multi os launcher app days ago. I have the translation for German and another language. I will make the proper changes for ya. Would you prefer everything visual to read in German.

unfortunately if your at 3.55 there is no way to downgrade as they revoked the leaked keys. there where 3 of them i believe. i would not update your ps3 anyfurther down the road and wait till there is a workaround. im always scared my roommate will do the same. thats why i bought two. one jb in the front with a ps3key. thats what my roommate will use since its easy and one in my room with my htc now.

Does it break the camera in WM or android? My camera in WM works fine. if in android it might be the zimage file used. I think i will need to make a backup folder and include a button to backup original zImage of the rom so you can restore it when not jailbreaking.
also doing a pure german rom is no big deal. Let me update the app to do this new stuff first and when i upload it i will upload a translated version as well.
Hi,
I am using an english version wm, still says that the directory can't be opened
Storage Card/blah blah blah..
using android RAM version by darkstone.. maybe that's the cause?
Whenever I click on "Setup Jailbreak", I get an error message saying, " An unexpected error has occurred in SmartDeviceProject1.exe. Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Details or more information." I'm using a dexter wm rom, "TheDarkOne WWE". Radio 2.10.50.26. Any help would be appreciated.

[TUTORIAL] Sense 3.6 skins working on Incredible S!! (unrooted stock 4.0.4)

Hi! I found a way to make any Sense 3.6 skins work on Incredible S (4.0.4) and decided to share this with you guys
As you might know, most of the 3.6 skins on the Play Store and xda work only on 4.0.3 and NOT on stock and unrooted Incredible S. And the best part is that the solution I'll give you doesn't require root access or any superior developer skills I don't know if this is obvious for most of you but I hope someone will find some use for this tutorial.
All you need is:
-some existing skin that you can download from the Play Store or this Forum (just search for sense 3.6 skins)

-com.htc.resources.apk from your phone (system/framework) and place it anywhere on your computer
1. After installing and opening the VTS you just have to go to File>Open Settings>Frameworks and add the framework (com.htc.resources.apk). Name it for example "skin". Then Import and OK.
2. Then on VTS selecet File>New Project>Apk-Project and choose a name for project and solution and location where you wanna save it. Then from the left select Import and find the apk of the skin you have downloaded. After that select Apk-Tool and select the framework (the one you named "skin" in step 1.) Then go to M10-Engine and check the box (probably not necessary). Select OK and it starts to decompile the apk.
3. Double click the AndroidManifest.xml in the Solution Explorer. Now the most important part: change the android:versionCode=xyz to 282066944 so that it is "android:versionCode=282066944". Now click the little x on the androidmanifest.xml tab and save changes.
4. Right click your project and choose Reload Project just to make sure your changes are applied.
5. Right click your project and choose Build apk. It automatically recompiles and signs your apk (easy huh?).
6. Click Binary in the Home tab and select your project. It opens up the folder where your new apk is located. Take that apk and move it to your phone and install. The skin should now show up on the skin chooser (Settings/Personalize/Skin). THAT'S IT!
There you go, hope this solution works for you too and you find this tutorial helpful And it's really easy guys, so don't worry if your not a developer (I'm not in any way). Now enjoy your new, fabulous skins on your Incredible S!! :victory:
That's kind of the hard way to do this and you can run into signature issues depending on how the developer signed the file.. Yes the issue with skins from one phone to another with the same version of sense is the Android code listed in the manifest..this is also the reason why we can't post a update to a skin, but instead have to post any new as a whole new app... Most of us with skins in the market try to keep multiple versions of the apps uploaded in play to accommodate all phones..but is a lot of work.. Your phone and the thunderbolt share and have shared before the ICS update the same version code..I'm currently working on a new collection of skins for play that will be including versions for your phone..so within the next few days, there will be options for you without messing with the manifest and risking messing something up that may not know about

Can you show me an explorer that will allow you to copy files from /system without root??
Because last time I checked, every explorer that require r/w access to /system and whatnot required root

FX File Explorer non-root. I did not say WRITE, I said READ/COPY from. Also, you can be less jerky about it or have actually read the post.

You could also be less jerky in the fact that:
1. You could have introduced said explorer because I have personally never heard of it and have used ES File Explorer or Root Explorer (which in my opinion is just much cleaner in everything)
2. Are you perfect? Because last time I checked, no 1 person on XDA has had a clean perfect record of not accidentally saying something false and that goes for real-life too.

1) I'm not being jerky, you rolled your eyes at my statement which was rude. You could've asked "is that possible?"
2) It doesn't matter if it's a file explorer, browser, whatever, as long as you're not writing to non-user space you don't need root. ANY app that can read the sd card can read /system
3) Who said anything about being perfect? I made a very clear statement that was misconstrued. I didn't persecute you over it.
4) This is XDA Developers, not XDA Debators. If you want to argue, that's what PM is for.
