[Q] S-off - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Excuse my ignorance.
Has this architecture been exploited previously for s-off?
Cheers.

I believe due to HOX getting s-off it should be easy-ish to get s-off on the One.
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk 2

I doubt it. This is the first phone to be sold with an S600 chip. I'm not too sure chip architecture has a massive amount to do with s-off tho. Could be wrong
However the DNA/butterfly has a closely related Qualcomm chip and that didnt take that long though but still, it'll ~probably~ be a while (months?)
So to answer your question: kind of but not really

Based on what? Your wishful thinking? This forum is rampant with threads just like this made up of nothing more that pure speculation without a shred of logic or evidence. Do XDA and it's users a favor, don't post garbage. A simple search before asking a question that has already been answered at least a dozen times would have stopped this thread from being created.
Or wait, let's use some common sense (GASP!) here, if S-OFF were achieved on this device, there would be a thread with a download for it! Imagine that!

Chill out
They won't release a method if the device isn't released so HTC can't patch it, so there wouldn't be a download
But I know people are working on it and a new method may be possible if they can bypass the write protection on the CID
At least they can't test that method until this device gets superCID

Lol too OP, you basically asking if there are any turbo kits for a 2014 BMW m3 which hasn't been released yet. Or if your not into cars then its like asking for a awnswer key to the test at school even though there is still about 1 month till the test.

Now I'm in no way a dev, but doesn't htcdev.com offer s-off for their phones?
If so, then it shouldn't be so hard to s-off the One.
If not, then disregard this post

Think of it like this, if the phone isn't released, we can't tell if there is S-Off or not. You'd need to wait so people can try therefore invalidating your question.

Not totally disregarding.

He was a pretty tiny guy in the interview. He seriously sounded like he didn't even know what each phone had. I showed one Note off and said "Umm ya this one is matched to look like the cover" Basically it was running some sort of cm9 with a purple theme and the phone had a purple cover on it. Then he pulls out another one and says " Ya thiiis one... can run 4x faster than normal" Imagine a little voice talking slow with a slight accent.
I'm sitting here hitting refresh every so often until they finally post the video from the news feed.

IncS developers without IncS handset

We had lost lots of developers like Nik, l0st.prophet because of their handset upgrade. These guys are willing to work on IncS development but unfortunately they don't have handset. I have seen many people willing to donate money and even spare their handset for development work.
Looking all these, I have got one idea.
Can someone take initiative and provide remote access of his PC and IncS for development work to these incredible developers?
I am not software guy or developer. So, I don't know path forward...somebody needs to explore.
but if it is possible, we will be back again in the era of development.
Just to clarify, we have not Lost Nik he is just waiting for new device to arrive .Thanks again to the amazing fjordell.

Sorry guys,
I am also not aware how to access boot screen remotely.
But, I have seen many technical support with remote access, so I just wanted you guys to think and respond if feasible.
If you feel not possible, we can drop this idea.
If the phone is in fastboot and hooked to the computer, you could give full access to your computer, so someone could use it as if he was at your home. But, I fail to see the greatness of this idea.
I have an IncS and I like-it, but I'm a realist. This phone as had better days, and, soon enough, it will be time to jump on newer and better technology.

Okay, even if the T-Mobile variant is unlocked, most people will have a locked bootloader on their S4. Sprint's still the minority.

Hopefully the AT&T/Verizon variants will be as easy to unlock as the S3 was on Verizon. It didn't seem to take too long for the S3/Note 2 to have their bootloader unlocked.

Hey there... about Sprint:
Was pretty happy with picking up my S4 from Sprint.
Went to check it out on the second day of sales. They said, "Oh, we just sold the last one a couple hours ago."
I was all like, "Oh crap, and I wasn't going to come at all because I thought they would be sold out."
The guy said, "We will have more tomorrow"
So I came back the next day and got one!

[Q] Google Edition: m7_ul?

Hi all,
With the impending release of the official stock "Google Edition"/"Nexus Experience" One, I was wondering a few things:
1.) Is this device likely to be m7_ul?
2.) Will it be possible to rip the firmware off a Google Edition device?
If the answer to the above Qs are both "yes":
3.) Isn't the logical answer to buy any m7_ul variant, apply S-OFF and flash?
Martin
This is precisely the reason why I sold my Nexus 4 and bought the the HTC One. You will be able to flash the Nexus edition rom onto the HTC one, just might need a bit of tinkering intially.
The way I look at it is, we will have the best of both worlds. Sense which is currently miles ahead of touchwiz and the pure stock Google experience for whenever we want a change.

True, but:

My main guess is that the "Change" is going to be that they are going to start spending Hundreds of Millions of dollars on Marketing to match Samsung and Apple. IMO, HTC hardware is better than Apple and Samsung and Software is definetely better than Samsung. That's all they need to do to catch up in sales maybe. They have already spent a lot on marketing the One and this new deal with Downey.
Another guess is that since it talks so much about HTC being "Whatever you want it to be" that it could be some kind of custom phones like what the Moto X is attempting to do.
You guys have valid points there. I just hope they continue the build quality

Build quality is good on a paper. They use nice materials. But they're Quality control is absolutely crap. 1 out of 10 threads in here is about some kind if MFG defect.
HTC has a great phone with great software. Now they just have to make sure every phone is the phone they would want to send to CNET to review.
Its really crazy how many defects there are and how many people are affected.

Maybe referring to announcement that the bootloaders will be unlocked on phones from now on. Hence, whatever you want it to be.

What? I don't understand what that means. I was referring to the physical defects and HTC's lenient Quality Control. What does that have to do with bootloaders?

Sorry-should have hit the reply button instead of quote. I was just commenting on the thread about HTC PR video. I did not mean to relate my post to yours. My bad.
Anyone watch this ad and know what Sunglasses Robert Downey Jr. is wearing? I can't find out and have been searching all morning.

With Tony Stark involved, HTC phones will probably start firing missiles or something.

I don't even care about the sunglasses, but when you said you couldn't find something online, I felt like it was a challenge. I guess I'm too competitive.

I usually find myself to be handy for searching the interwebz but this one had me stumped.
