[Q] Help with root can't find chinoray and clockwordmodace.zip - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using this thread to root my ace and it says 'Search for chinoray and clockwordmodace.zip.' I have done this on original android development, android development, general thread, Q&A thread and Google and have been unable to obtain it, could someone plz tell me where this is. Also is this still the best method to root the ace as that thread is a couple of years old thank you in advance.

I'm sending you these to files in the attachment.Download and transfer them both to ur sdcard.
Then go to recovery mode by pressing Power + home button simultaneously.
Then select "apply from sd card" and select the upd_1.zip file (and remember to move up and down use the vole keys and to select ..home button)
okay so now your phone is rooted now ..if you want to install cwm do the same go to "apply update from sd card" and select recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip file and select YES ! Done !

thank you for your help however i have found out the model number is GT s5830i so ill use this method instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551156

Did you even read the sticky? If its still no rooted, try flashing a new stock rom via Odin and try rooting it again using the method mentioned in the sticky. Just in case you didn't understand what I'm rambling about here...the magic word of the day for you is.... 'STICKY'.
????????
No idea what u r rambling about .... no idea what u mean by STICKY, but i am new to the mobile chatter.
but i read the instructions yes .... and they seem to work with some phones and not with others ...
they do not work with mine and that's why i asked was there any root instructions that will work on 2.3.4 galaxy ace (DDKQ3) ...
so far, NO ONE has said YES.
Sticky means the sticky thread at the top of the galaxy ace forum. It has phone specific tutorials.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
Wow how unhelpful are you
I also have galaxy ace on 2.3.4 purchased in late march. The current methods for rooting don't seem to work anymore. The person who started the thread and myself would like some helpful advice from some1 who knows something about how this stuff work. Cause we don't and that's why we post!
Flash the attachments, and you've got root access. I've been using them for 2.3.4 as well as 2.3.6. Works like a charm.
Oh, and BTW, these are from the STICKY thread!
EDIT: I take you know what FLASHING means?! If not then go learn that first before you go any further. And use the SEARCH option. It's not there for baking biscuits!
I have tried to flash:
AceGingerRoot.zip
Root.zip
Universal_GB_ROOT.zip
Update.zip
upd_1.zip
None of these actually work. The root.zip you recommend comes up with an error the aborts.
I have S5830T and I just purchased this last month so things may have changed since you rooted your device. I'll try recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip after I research what it actually does (OMG - Yes I'll use the STICKY).
I hope you realise that if it waas as simple as flashing the root.zip that we would not actually need to post and ask for help!

Well, if Flashing doesn't work try to push all the stuff using ADB. It never fails. And that root.zip, I've been using it since day 1 and still use it whenever I flash to stock using ODIN. Never stopped working for Me. Try the ADB method, and report back. Let's hope for the best. And if possible post the log of the error which you get during Recovery flash.

OMG the sticky sucks big time:
- It is meant for noobs but it doesn't explain the process of rooting, flashing with ODIN or CMW in any detail (it just says do it!)
- The links are all broken
- There is information from many different people making no sense to anyone new to smartphones
I mean are you ****ing kidding me!!! What a mess!!!!
I didn't get an iPhone because of the jailbreaking bull**** so I got an android and now this ARRRRRRR
I just want to put in proxy settings so I can use my WIFI at work, but I have to ROOT!!! WHY!!!!!!

I just tried UNIVERSAL_GB_ROOT_V11 because the one I tried was V10
It didn't work, however I noticed that when I boot into recovery I get the error
"applying Multi CSC Can't access to '/system/csc/TLP/system"
before I even run the root file!
I think this means I have to flash back to stock!
If so can you point me in the right direction for a ROM (I already have ODIN)

There is plenty of info and guides for you on site, Stop been lazy and impatient, Go and do some research and search forums instead of expecting somebody to bring the info to you.
You will learn more and retain the info if you put some work into it and read.
go download unlockroot - http://www.unlockroot.com/
make sure you set your device to Enable USB Debugging.
Press Root from the program and wait for the magic to happen.
worked

What is wrong with you!!! Are you frustrated or do you have a huge complex and didn’t mammy give you enough attention??? You can’t wait to put people down are you, he is asking a question and did it very polite he tried it with several solutions and it did not work so he tried, it is absolutely not necessary to say that he is lazy and impatient, your here a long time and all i read from you is bashing people, why don’t you just shut up if you are not helping people and leave it to people that have no problem answering such a question, nobody is waiting for your stupid remarks. You ATHEiST are an idiot and do not belong in a forum!
You can also go for the CFROOT. OR use the overcome method by teamovercome. You just need to put your tab in download mode, and get the necessary files from TEAMOVERCOME. Although, when you do this, you will get a customer ROM installed, the overcome 7 v4.1.0 running on android 2.3.6 fully rooted.
2.3.6 root info
tried many methods, here're my results, hope this helps...
going from gb 2.3.3 rooted with cf root ...to 2.3.6 with cf root.
(all firmware from "check fus 2.1")
uk(02)...JQ8 -not easy!
eventual success, method mentioned in last page of linkost #342
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885734&highlight=tab+cwm3
Poland play... JQ9 -easy!!
used pc version 'odin3 v1.7' to flash firmware, then again to flash 'cf root kernel' (same one as in the above 'xda' link).
result -all good
tried using mobile odin pro first but had probs.
if all else fails, you could try, team overcome's custom rom, i tried that too but didn't like their version of cwm, so was determined to get chainfire's original working.

It'd be great if you would ask in the help thread instead of creating a new thread. Nothing wrong with this, just it would be better in there
For your question, download the firmware for your region and flash it via odin and see if its a one package or not..

[Q] Alternative root method via update.zip?

Pardon me if I posted on wrong section, and if this question has been asked too much.
Iam new to samsung android phone, moving from my xperia 2011 lost phone.
Regarding root, anyone had found a method like galaxy young methods?
Via update.zip I mean...
And why we cant flash them on this device?
Maybe someone had a problem with play store.
If we open an app screenshot, and slide it, this phone will vibrate, then the screenshot's gallery will close.
Then back to app's page.
I dont know which one was the problem, phone firmware, playstore, or my phone hardware?
Can anyone help me?
this one use flashable zip

dont worry its not a big problem, stop using full screen photos in play store and problem gonna out.
Mini 2's stock recovery only allows Samsung signed .zips to be flashed. So you must have a custom recovery to root
That's all the answer
Can I ask more question?
So we need Samsung signed zip file, right?
Is it possible if we steal those zip from Samsung OTA update file?
Like CWM signed zip file maybe...
Adding root file...and edit the script, something like that?
Just asking, maybe I should read more about samsung's android articles...
Its shame there are no update for our phone till now tho... T.T
This forum community never let me down. Thank guys
Note : Admin, please move my thread to mini 2 general/FAQ section if they had been created.
to root you must flash CWM (squadzone/mb14) using odin, and flash root using those CWM
or
you can search for pre-root stock rom and flash it via odin
btw since you are indonesian, why you didn't join galaxy mini 2 facebook group where indonesian user discuss about this device:

i think this Newbie Guide is wrong.

hi, i have 2 questions:
1) I think this Newbie Guide have human mistakes.
if i wasn't wrong,
PDA should be "CODE_S5830xxxxxx" ,
Phone should be "MODEM_S5830xxxxxx" and
EFS should be " DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225493
i hope somebody can verify this.
thanx.
OPS - Select the file named Cooper_v1.0.ops (or anything like that)
BOOT - Select the file named "APBOOT_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03_user_low_true.ta r.md5"
where "xxxxx" = Your firmware version
Phone - Select the file named "CODE_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03_user_low_true.tar. md5"
where xxxxx = firmware version
PDA - DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING
CSC - Select the file named "GT-S5830-MULTI-CSC-xxxxxx.tar.md5"
where "xxxxxx" = the CSC region
EFS - Select the file named "MODEM_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03.tar.md5"
xxxxx = firmware version (Be VERY VERY careful with this EFS part)

AFAIK , we only need Android USB Drivers of Samsung Kies + ODIN +OPS to flash the Stock ROM.
and the step to root and unroot (androind 2.2 or 2.3.x) , the phone read the update file directly from the SDCARD.
I have no experience with Flash Custom Revory and Custom Rom yet, but from the fisrt post of this thread, seems that they don't need Android SDK too.
I think this Newbie Guide have human mistakes.

First of all, XDA community is wonderful.
I have read maybe thousands of posts here. And I learned many, many interesting things here.
However, I have noticed that not all the explanations, or helps, are very precise, and accurate.
In order not to make a mistake with what you're doing, it is better to search and read many explanations on XDA or on the other sites, about what you want to do, until you are convinced that you did understand.
On the other hand any beginner must divide the actions in 2 parts.
1. Dangerous for the phone
2. Not Dangerous
1.
Dangerous are: root the phone, unlocking the network, install CWM (a wrong one), flash a new Custom ROM (a wrong one), flash a firmware with Odin (with wrong files), and maybe others.
2.
Not Dangerous are: make a backup and restore, flash the same Custom ROM (that you know), modifying an apk and flash it, and so.
The point here is to choose what is good for you.
And, what you do, you do it at your own risk.
Can you please explain more detail , if you do know the answer ?
too sorry about that , I'm not quite understanding what u mean.

If the man says, PDA - DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING
you have to DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING to PDA
I have put a print screen with the steps.
View attachment 3246528
Step 1 - OPS file for SGA S5830 Cooper, it is not for S5830i
Step 2 - check mark on One Step
Step 3 - firmware that you downloaded and want to put on your phone.
Step 4 - Start and wait about 5 minutes, to write PASS.
And, of course, take your risk.
It's OK now?

Is it correct that for Odin you just need SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones
But if you move forward, and you want to work with multiple tools or applications for Android, you will still need the SDK.
What I meant to post 2, is that you have to read between the rows, not word by word.
Because no one can say that: "what works for me, will work for you."
Simply, because here we are not at school.
By the way, I just want to help.

hi, so glad to have your replies again.
but , my first question is for FULL Package instructions , not the One Package Instructions 。
i have no any problems or questions with One Package. (actually , i think i was quite familiar to One package).
if we google the full package odin instructions , the most of results we got is sth like this:
Bootloader =APBOOT_I9003DDLF2_CL1153545_REV08_user_low_ship.t ar.md5
PDA=CODE_I9003DDLF2_CL1153545_REV08_user_low_ship. tar.md5
Phone=MODEM_I9003DDLE1_REV_00_CL1149304.tar.md5
CSC=GT-I9003-MULTI-CSC-ODDLF2_RST.tar.md5
You see, the parts that hightlight with red color on the top post ,is totally differrent from the google one .
so i need some advice from the veteran people here . (maybe both are correct? just different situation? just a wild guess)

ok, thanks.
so , let's simply assume that android SDK is just for future use with more advanced purpose.
:good:
I think i had found the answer of second question for myself .
Android SDK is for legacy root method that use adb comand to push and root the handphone device from the PC .
so it can be ommited if using something like SuperOneClick or
root by using update from sdcard method .
I think this is my last post for this thread, if no one else reply .
I hope somebody can verify which of below is the correct one:
OPS-OPS, Boot-APBOOT, Phone-CODE, PDA-[EMPTY], CSC-CSC ,EFS-MODEM (leave One Package empty)
(or)
OPS-OPS, Boot-APBOOT, Phone-MODEM, PDA-CODE, CSC-CSC (leave EFS and One Package empty)
thankx
