[Q] Need help with bugs fix on 4.2.2 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello everyone
I'm new to flashing mobile devices and found some problems during the installations:
Issues:
1. Unable to play music files at apollo player browse / open from file manager (e.g. ES File Explorer & File Manager app comes with the package)
2. Clockwork Mod app installed before flash to 4.2.2 but cannot be found from app list (e.g. superusers...etc) after the above installation completed. Is that normal?
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S i9000
OS installed: [NIGHTLY][ROM][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1 for Samsung Galaxy S (filename: cm-10.1-20130321-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd.zip)
My proccess:
1. Install XXJVU via I9003_Odin3 v1.82.exe
2. Root phone with the following b using I9003_Odin3 v1.82.exe:
- CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5
- GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar.md5
- MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5
- s1_odin_20100803.pit
3. Installed Clockwork mod downloaded from Google play
4. Copied cm-10.1-20130321-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd.zip and gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip to SD
5. Nandroid backup
6. Wipe cache, partition, dalvik cache twice (1. black background - before select install zip select from SD | 2. Grey background - after select install zip select from SD but before installation starts, have no idea why must i select this twice to be able to start the installation.)
7. Installed cm-10.1-20130321-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd.zip and reboot.
8. Enter recovery mode, installed gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip (can't remember if i did step 6 again or not).
Please advice

Need some advices / feedback. Anyone please?

Dont really know whats up with Apollo but since installing new ROM wipes phone, thats fine for CWM app to dissapear. It just got wiped. But dont worry...

[Q] guide needed to install theme on Darky's rom

Hello All,
I tried to install the “(VALLE-MOD)HoneyComb theme v.1.1!! MAJOR UPDATE with some minor fixes!”
From: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958788
And the “[THEME]Generation X - V2.0 CYAN&HARD-BLUE ADDED - JPU/X/Y/JS3 - 4LOCK [04-02-11]________________________________________
From: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898892
I start the phone in the recovery mode (CWR) and tried to apply the “Install from zip file”
I receive notification that the THEME was installed successfully but when I reboot the phone it stuck with the Galaxy icon.
And I have to apply the rom again.
I saw the application Z4control that can install theme with this app but I couldn’t find where to download or how to install it.
Can any one send me detailed guide how to install theme or how to install the z4control
Thanks in advance
Shlomi
I have the Generation X - V2.0 RED installed on my galaxy S using Darky's ROM and itt works fine.
This is how I install mine:
1. Install Darky's config app from the market and set your preferences. I use voodoo kernel + no modem install + all the other options.
2. Reboot in recovery and install the room from the zip
3. Reboot the phone and let it do it's thing to configure the room.
4. Unlock your SIM and make sure the phone works with the ROM
5. If all is well reboot in recovery and install the theme from the zip
6. Reboot and enjoy.
Now some questions, based on your symptoms sounds like a ROM issue and not a theme issue. Did your phone boot OK after you installed darky's ?
Also what model do you have I9000, I9000-M, T959, T959-D, etc .. ?
Hi Rebbinio,
Thank you for your quick reply.
I ibstall the rom, boot the phone, use darky's configuration tool, every things works.
Now i boot to cwr and applied the theme, everything goes fine but the phone won't boot.
I think i did everything you did except from uninstallung the modem and my phone was unlocked so....
I don't know, someone told me i should delete the framework.jar from the thene????,
Why did you click on "Update from zip"? ...
if you are on Darky´s ROM you just put the Theme on the INTERNAL SD Card... Reboot to recovery and flash it
HowTo:
Reboot to recovery
choose "Install zip from sdcard"
choose "zip from sdcard"
Look for the theme and click on it
Then scroll down to YES
Go back
REBOOT
The theme should now be installed and everything should be working

Maybe you can try backup and then delete "bootanimation.zip" from system/menu using root explorer first. Then try flash the theme again. If after the flash you got stock bootanimation galaxy s, don't worry just paste back the bootanimation.zip or you can flash other bootanimation.zip thru CWM. That is what I did when I flash Honeycom theme on Darky 9.3 beta3 ROM. And of course give them sometime to reboot. Hope you make it.
the same probleme please help
darky's rom 9.2 extremeafter download most of themes
1. boot into CWR
2. select install from zip - and I choose the theme.
3. I received the message that the theme was installed successfully
4. reboot the device - now it get stuck.
I wrote by mistake "update from sip"
actually i choose "install from zip"
the installation completed successfully but still the phone stuck showin the Galaxy icon
any advise?
Thanks

I have the same problem. And I think that Darky makes too much change in the rom. So no one existing theme can't be install.
it must be write speсialy for Darky's rom 10 RC6
IMHO

I had the same problem, the answer is there. You should ask though in CM's thread.
I experienced this before. I just free up more internal storage space and Market works
I was having the same issue after flashing the CM6.
Installed the new market, v. 3.3.11 and everything is working fine now.
=)
Same problem but I had fix it
First. Setting__Language and change language to English United State. Then Market work good.

Nothing is working for me. I am with no market for 3 weeks...

Wipe cache & Dalvik through OpenRecovery and Flash the latest GoogleApps again. Then change the language to an other than the preset and it should do the trick.

agree, that was my problem too.
you should try this,
and update to the latest market, its alot more stable.
Nope unfortunately this is not working either for me

Has the market been updated?
Have you tried uninstalling the updates and installing another market that you have not tried yet?
Or wipe data and cache and re-install cm6.
I had the same problem, the market updated itself, it didn't even load the images in the market home. Uninstalled the update, and flashed two different gapps, the second worked and now the market updates itself.

Download the Gapps from Kabaldan's thread and wipe caches, flash in OR and reboot.

well..you weren't much help i was asking HOW to flash.
I actualy managed to do it on my own. For those who don't know how to flash gapps with open recovery:
1: You download the gapps you need.
2: You explore the sd card and go to:
sdcard/openrecovery/update and paste the .zip file there.
3: Reboot the device on Recovery mode (press the power button>reboot>recovery)
4: Navigate to the "Apply update" option
5: Select the gapps update
6: Reboot
7: Enjoy!

You were able to flash a ROM, it's the same with gapps Basically anything that people say by "flashing in OR" is like that.

I have had force close issues with Market, Firefox, and various other apps. Some solutions:
1. Open terminal. Type "su" (no quotes), and enter. Grant superuser permissions. Type "fix_permissions" (no quotes, one underscore), enter.
2. Settings, Language & keyboard, select (or RE-select) English (United States).
3. Settings, accounts & sync. Disable auto-sync.
4. Reboot to recovery menu, clear Dalvik cache (under "advanced" menu)
The first (permissions fix) is what worked for me.
Just change the language in language & keyboard setting to english (canada) or united kingdom.

[Q] Custom ROM process

Could someone just confirm I am doing the following correctly.
1. Install rootable Stock ROM via Odin (usb).
2. Root and CWM using "DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT".
3. Install Mobile Odin
4. Place Stock rom onto internal SD (ie N7000XXLA1) From here I
5. Upgrade using Mobile Odin. (So I can keep root)
6. Place customer ROM with matching running ROM version on SD. ([ROM] ROCKET ROM - v17 - XXLA1)
7. Run using ClockworkMod.
I'm sure I'm going wrong somewhere, have only tried once and it failed. Had an error because it could not find the .jpg for start and close screens.
Any help or pointers would be helpful.
Thanks
Exceluk1
refer here...
Yep have been using without any issues.
Up until I get to :-
5. Upgrade using Mobile Odin. (So I can keep root) to N7000XXLA1
It keeps showing "logo_qt.jpg" draw failed.
If i try and power down the handset I also get an error "charging_qt.jpg" draw failed.
If i flash the N7000XXLA1 without root using Odin USB this works fine but cant root then
Where am I going wrong.
-root your NOTE first,
-download THIS - open
-click already-rooted.bat.
-download ROCKET ROM - v17 - XXLA1 - copy to your sd card
-turn off your device.
-open CWM
-wipe data, cache, etc
-flash ROCKET ROM - v17 - XXLA1 with CWM
-wipe data, cache, etc
-Reboot and you're DONE
follow that steps, you should be fine.
That was my first step when i got my NOTE yesterday afternoon.

[Q] [4.0.4] Dark Knight 3 issues

Hi,
Complete xda n00b here. Sorry if I am posting this to the wrong place, but I couldn't post in the Dev forum for obvious n00bishness.
I've searched all the other threads but have come up with no answers
I'm running Dark Knight 3 with the Devil kernel. It's a fantastic rom, so fast and smooth. I love it. But the TV-Out does not work. I tick the necessary boxes, and run it on PAL (I'm UK) but there is no picture on the TV screen. I have sound, and can play audio files, but no visual
Any help that can be offered to fix the problem would be massively appreciated!
thanks
I cannot speak directly for Dark Knight, but a lot of these ICS roms are not fully complete... so the TV out just might not be working..
I thought that might be the case. But wasn't sure if it was an issue that would be relatively easy to fix.
Thanks!
You must turn TV-out ON in GalaxyS settings
No space left on device
Hi!
I really want to have this rom on my rooted GT-I9000 (with brand 2.3.5 from Orange (Poland)), so:
1) download and copy DK 4.0.4 to sd card
2) download and install clockwork rom manager
3) flash CWMR
4) reset smartphone in recovery mode (from CWRM)
5) wipe to factory data
6) clear cache
7) select rom (zip) to update
After a few second get: short write of /temp/slideload/package.zip ( no space left on device )
So, I:
8) download and install titanium backup
9) delete almost all non-core applications -> now I have 80-70 MB free space on phone memory
10) back to point 4 and get the same error :/
so, I:
11) try to flash rom directly from CWRM -> clear cache, wipe data, clear dalvik and select rom and... get the same error
What to do? (my sd card is almost empty)
Do a search because I remember reading a fix for that. Something about clearing a specific folder.

[Q] How to upgrade to 10.2 from 10.1.3 stable

some one says that the build-in upgrade is not very reliable, and may cause problem.
do I need to flash the 10.2 as a brand new install, means:
ie: boot CWM, wipe factory/reset, install zip, install new Gapps (still need to find it)
will this still allow me to have the apps and files (like under /Downloads)
thanks!
You could only wipe System and Cache (all Files in the Download Folder still be there), but yes you have to flash it with CWM. Take the Gapps from goo.im/gapps
