FYI: poetic atmosphere case covers power button - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I emailed poetic and asked if the case covers the power button which doubles as an ir blaster. They didn't specify if it was clear covering the button though.
I indicated my curiosity was about being able to use the ir blaster and they did not assure me that I could.
If this is a deal breaker for you, perhaps wait for reviews. I ended up canceling my preorder of the case and got a spigen

I did the same thing and probably ended up with the same explanation as you
"Dear Buyer,
Thank you for your interests in our products. The cases should fit perfectly for the new HTC devices with the power button accessible with no problem. If you do recieve the case with defects or the cases does not fit well, we do offer a return order process, so you would be worry-free when ordering our products. "
Doesn't really explain whether there is a cutout for it or not. It can still be accessible but lose its functionality of the IR.

I got a 2 sentence response that clearly stated that the power button is covered.

Yep, it's covered. I don't have the phone yet, but the case arrived today and the power button is NOT clear or see-thru. For $10 on amazon, I figure it is still an OK deal. I also ordered the Borderline Bumper case, but it hasn't arrived yet.
I've attached some pics, so see for yourself.

When you get the borderline case would you mind sharing photos? I am heavily considering the bumper case because I don't want to cover up most of my phone because it's going to be so beautiful! Hahahaha

Certainly! However, the Amazon seller said it may not ship until the last few days of April due to a delay in availability... so I may not have it until the end of April or early May.

An IR Blaster is the infrared light emitter remote controls use to control your tv, stereo, etc. This phone has one built into the power button. As in, when the power button is exposed, you can use the HTC TV app to control your TV. If this is covered, this feature is useless.

So is it safe to assume that the Borderline Bumper case also covers the power button?

I didn't even consider the possibility when ordering my Otterbox Commuter. Too late now. Will mod it.

Probably, but I believe we've only seen renders of it up until now, so it's hard to say. The volume rockers are covered on the Borderline case though, so most likely the power is too. I ended up ordering both, so if they would just start shipping them out.....

I could see this being an issue for One cases, in general. Most of the reviewers are saying that the button sits nearly flush with the chassis. It makes it awfully hard, then, to make any kind of case that goes around it but leaves enough room for your finger to fit in there to push it. It sounds like it's hard enough to push the button with no case on it at all. I would think clear plastic would distort the IR beam, but that's just speculation.

I got an email from poetic yesterday stating that the case has been delayed some more due to a revision. I was told it would take another week or so for delivery of the new revised/updated case

Both otter boxes do it and they're quite big
Sent straight outta Compton

For the cheaper cases, one can just cut them with a stencil knife. Not a big deal.
Though, I do agree that they should have done something about it.

No IR needed baby! GoogleTV FTW
Atmosphere has bee lonely for the last week, glad to be able to put it on the device in about 8hr.

I can change the channel on comcast with an app too, but the ir blaster adds the ability to control multiple TVs, dvd player, blue ray player, surround sound stereo, and more. Even your xbox. I already have a universal remote, but it isn't programed for my other rooms.

I wonder if they will hook up the current owners that bought early with a discount to buy the new revision? I could care less about the IR but I'm glad there is an issue with it because the only thing I DON'T like about this case is the power button is quite difficult to manipulate. It's an awesome case outside of that, definitely different than TPU like I usually get.
Think I'll email them now.

Has anyone actually confirmed the revision is for the power button?

[Open Thread] Thoughts On Otterbox Case For EVO Shift 4G

So I just wanted to start a thread for myself and anyone else who may want to read it
Basically anyone who has an otterbox case for the evo shift or has seen/used it or whatever just leave your opinions/reviews whatever. I am thinking of buying one so just wondering
I don't have one for the Shift but I've used an Otterbox on other devices and would recommend it if you have the slightest fear of damaging your handset.
I believe the last one I used was a Commuter which completely encased the handset and seemed to be able to take a hit. The back was too smooth for me so I had a little trouble re-learning how to hold it and the thickness of the handset increased significantly but overall it felt safe. Worth the extra money.
I am using the otterbox commuter case on my shift right now. I like it a lot. The fit and finish seems like it is completely a part of the phone. Only two complaints are:
1. If I try to move an icon from one hone screen to another, the piece covering the screen makes it difficult to move it to the "edge" - not a big deal, you learn to adjust.
2. When opening the slider, I hear a click sound, sounding like the little tabs holding the upper piece on are catching as it moves. Again, kinda not picky.
All in all, I think it is a great case and makes me worry a lot less about dropping my device. I would definitely recommend it.

Awesome seems like ill want to pick it up. I recently cracked the screen on my shift and made a few scuff marks so that's what seriously turned me to getting the case.

Tip for putting on the included screen protector...patience and a clean work surface! I couldn't get it to work well at first, then I ended up dropping it on the carpet. I was ready to give up on it until my wife took it from me and got it to work. So...if you have the patience of an ADHD kid on meth like I do...lol. It was my first screen protector too so. Anyways have fun!

definitely worth getting. i have the commuter series otterbox and it makes my phone look and feel like a beast. only thing that annoys me sometimes is the dust/lint that gets stuck to the rubber on the case, but i just blow it off.

I haven't had a problem opening the slider at all.
I have one and love it! Top of the line case, looks good feels good and protects good! I would totally recommend it to anyone with a Shift!..
I use it on my shift, and have had them on two other phones. Like everyone else said, its a great case, and really does look like a part of the phone.

I'm now on my second otterbox after a free factory replacement, my only nit pics are the usb port cover doesn't stay closed, and it clicks everytime I open it, feels like one of the clips is catching....

Just got the Commuter series and I'm a fan so far. Makes the phone feel more substantial and gives a better grip. The only issue was with the headphone and USB port covers, which didn't stay down. I just removed them, but DON'T Rip them off, it'll tear the rubber casing. Found that out on the USB port one so I cut the headphone one off. Either way makes the rubber a little loose around the port but not hugely annoying unless you're a perfectionist(which I can be). I'll just apply a little glue and seat it on the plastic frame.

Nope I can confirm that, being really careful you can take the back without any problem..
I Think that the front parts being hard to take off it's a good thing.
Had mine for 2 or 3 months now
Bought it from Amazon for like $25 when they finally came available for the shift and had to wait a month before I got it in hand.
I'm not as impressed as i would be with the protection if it was a defender case. I had the black case with fake carbon fiber and belt clip before. The otterbox commuter is better then that one, by how much I'm not sure.
I dropped my phone about a month ago. I don't know if it just hit the right place of the case, and the back case came flying off the phone, the side clips where busted off, so the back case would not stay on any more.
I decided to call up otterbox and see if it was under warr. and if they would replace it. AMAZINGLY they said YES so they shipped me a new one for free i didn't even have to pay shipping. NICE. It was quick and easy I thought that was soooo cool. Because of that i will continue to buy otterbox, and recommend them to others.
In future i hope to buy defender cases (better protection) which means no more slider phones which i think i am ready for now that touch screens are so much better. All my old phones have been sliders with full keyboards from back in the day with my old HTC t-mobile MDA, which made me find this site.
Thats my 2 cents.

Otterbox Defender Vivid/Raider long term wear report

Lasted me just abt six months of light regular use. It's still on this phone as i write and its protective capability is still almost all intact, but the plastic and silicone are both breaking down: Replacement time.
The plastic of both the inner case and the protective belt clip is somewhat brittle. The retaining tab on the belt clip that holds the phone in, snapped off after less than a month rendering the belt clip useless, as it wouldn't hold the phone anymore. The little snaps that clip the inner case halves together are beginning to go; two of them broke in the last couple weeks.
These both look to me like design issues where the characteristics of the material used weren't accounted for as well as they might've been.
The silicone is tearing in a couple places, around the volume button and one of the plastic nubbins that the belt clip tab clicks into. This last tear is progressing out to the edge of the case, another 3mm or so to go.
i liked this case; phone felt really safe with it. i liked the really tall lip around the screen that made the phone super-easy to hold, even as it made typing a bit of a challenge with the "keys" at the edge of the screen. This is a big plus as this isn't the easiest of phones to keep a safe grip on while using it.
The built-in screen protector isn't so hot as it let dirt get in at the top between it and the screen, and also doesn't contact the screen at one bottom corner so one has to press down with disproportionate effort there to get the touch to register. It's where the keypad is so slows down typing.
Overall i'm glad it's on the phone. It's big and heavy and clunky and keeps the device well protected from harm and easy to hold on to. It's also one of the costliest cases and i was hoping it'd last me at least a year: i'm a fairly careful guy too, don't beat mercilessly on my gadgets or anything.
Think i'll try the Ballistics SG case next.

-- This tall lip is a part of the polycarbonate hard inner case and the screen protector is glued to it at the bottom. Makes for a very secure thumb hold and i expect will be one of the features of this case i'll miss.

Note that only some AT&T stores will. It's manager discretion and some will be more agreeable to it than others.
Otterbox breaking clips
I have had the same problem with with my Otterbox box case, the small clipe that hold the plastic case close keeps breaking after i have to open it up to clean my screen on my HTC vivid. Because the top is open, I'm cleaning my screen a lot.
just contact the supplier through their site and tell them what happen, and they will send you a new case for free. I'm on my second case now. it seems that they know there is a problem with those fragile snaps.

Mine lasted over a year, and that's with frequently pulling it apart to pull the battery. Now half of the plastic clips that hold it together are gone, and the rubber flap for the USB port is starting to tear, almost ripping off. If you pay attention when taking it apart, it should last way longer than a year. My only gripe is its a bit bulky, not very pocket friendly.

I'm on my 2nd Replacement case as I have broke 2 belt clips within 2 months. Otterbox has been excellent about sending a replacement in both instances. I also removed the built in screen protector and have purchased a different one from Amazon. Overall the case has been decent. Happy with it for the most part. I still am using the actual case from the original but now a couple of the tabs have broken off the polycarbonate shell. Guess I will have to switch out for one of the replacements they have sent me. Unfortunately the belt clip seems to have been the most fragile part for my experience.
Wow i haven't used my otterbox defender, cause one of the clips, of the inside broke, the screen protector is almost gone (its broking) and the outer layer of silicone doesn't like, glue? Stick to the hard case!! I'm going to contact otterbox and see what they said! Thanks guys!!

No receipt required. The photo with the case and your name and today's date is all the proof of ownership they need. Best Case *SO FAR* :)

After trying several cases for my Nexus 7, knowing there aren't any specifically for the Nexus 7 at any retail stores, this was the best one I've come across. It will hold me over until an official case comes out (I've kept the receipt so I can return it). I just can't have such an awesome piece of tech sitting around without a case and without the ability to use it as a stand for viewing. The leather is genuine and the case is simply gorgeous. I love the way if holds the tablet without the clamps/rubberized holding mechanism actually rubbing or touching the bezel. All ports are accessible while it is in the case and the power/volume buttons are very easily accessible.
Found it at Fry's this morning on the way to work but it will set you back $59.99. One of the best portfolio stand cases I've ever owned for any of my devices. High end.

None, which is hard to say about most cases. I've always had something I've disliked about a case but have dealt with it. I've also always went for the cheaper the better in the past. This case is truly a "you get what you pay for" case. The way it holds the very edges of the tablet is my favorite part. It looks like it is floating in the case and the parts that hold the tablet in place never really become part of the view. The access to all buttons and inputs as well as the quality of the leather are great. The actual stand aspect allows for infinite viewing angles and never feels cheap, like the stand portion is going to collapse at any moment.
This case looks really nice. I personally want a colored case though and not the standard brown/black. Also, I'd rather pay a bit more for a case that I really like and thats going to last me a while then buy a cheap case that I'm not that into, deciding that Im not satisfied with it and having to buy more. So if I see something that I fall in love with then I don't mind pulling the trigger as long as its not 100+

Nice. It fits perfectly? Usually cases with the plastic clips are pretty picky about what they'll work with. If so, I'm thinking about buying one of these gtab 2 7.0 cases and adding a "smart cover" magnet to it.

I just pulled the edges on the 4 rubber ends out slightly, if that makes sense, and when the tablet was in place, they wrapped perfectly around each corner of the tablet. It takes a tiny bit of "fitting", but once it's on, it's all good.

How about the speaker in the back, is it covered or are there holes for it?
There are no holes for the speaker. I did a test at max volume and I have no idea why but it sounds louder with it in the case then out of the case. It could be the way it's configured with the speaker near flush but with a decimeter or so gap. I know with my phones and tablets that they tend to sound louder when they are angled near a wall and I seem to get the same effect with this case.

Okay. My point is that it's less than a centimeter. Maybe a millimeter or so. Enough tiny space to actually amplify the sound

rediculous price! that's 25% of the tablet. I've seen much better looking case off amazon.

Link? Cause I haven't seen any. All those cheap amazon cases look cheap and tacky IMO.

i bought this elcheapo case for now, at least they have 2 day prime shipping
This case is very similar to the one you bought, but is significantly cheaper.

The company has a case specifically for the N7, but no pictures of the N7 in a case. I'm guessing their N7 is waiting to be delivered too. Haha. Anyway, I really like the floating look, and will probably be getting this one.

People on other threads have been linking to Cases listed on Amazon and Ebay with that very similar look (they probably all use the same stock photos) with prices ranging from $10 to $20. Even cheaper.

I don't know, may be not the same quality but it's hard to judge from photos, or even the prizes.
Only way to judge is hand-on experience like the OP's case, his case looks good also because when the back holds on to four corners only, whereas these ones are a bit 'uneven' (when viewed in portrait mode) : p
I would perfer something that holds on to the edges of Nexus 7 only, like the Official Case or this:

KLD Charming Case (Magnetic?)

He guys, I found another leather flip case that seems really nice. I like the colors but wish there was a blue similar to the Asus Nexus 7 cases.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KLD-Ultra-S...702452?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2c690824f4
The one thing that concerns me is that it is magnetic. Is that safe? I found a video of the case(s) on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLwx4kSB7Pw
I really wanted one of those as well but being magnetic is a no go.

Besides being magnetic, they seem to be the all around best flip cover I've found (besides the Official Samsung Flip Cover that haven't looked at.) Nice colors, good design, appears to be good quality....... Guess we'll have to wait for something else.
I received this case the other day and the quality and feel is excellent. It is a beautiful case. I'm going to give it and try on my Note when I receive it. I like it better than the official Samsung flip cover.
Any feed back on the magnetic case being safe. I am getting my note 11\1 amenities want to order the case ahead of time. So far I am liking this case.

Safe? Well, it's not going to damage anything much, but it WILL screw with the S-Pen, and render the compass completely useless.
Ive got the case and been using it the last few days with no ill effects what so ever!!!
The magnet is next to the front camera and doesnt screw with the S pen at all. ln regards to the compass I cant comment as l dont use it (l dont think)!!!
All in all a really nice solid case - no complaints so far.
ps - went for the black and beige one - looks smart!

The case is safe. Smart covers for tablets (N7, Ipad) contain magnets. That is how they automatically wake up when you open them.
I bought this aswell hopefully there are no side effects. I plan on installing a landyard in it aswell. The note wont fit in all my jeans pockets ; p

I see now. It looks like butt. At least the colors do.
Ok I just bought it as well the black one as it looks beautifull and it has a kickstand feature what more do you want from a case all for a super price delivered what are you waiting for guys?
I have this case in black and I absolutely LOVE it.
It looks amazing, isn't bulky and the materials are top-notch. The phone doesn't move a millimeter. I haven't used the pocket yet, but I think it's a handy feature.
The magnet is a plus for me. It hasn't caused any problems.
I didn't want the official case, because it's made of the same chintzy plastic as the stock back - which I don't like at all.
FYI I have a brand new one of these cases available for $15.00 shipped. I'm located in the US so shipping will be a lot quicker than China. Please see the thread below for details

I'm looking at this case too and have a couple questions.
Does NFC still work?
What is it like to text and make phone calls on it?
Do you think it would still fit in a car mount with the back cover flipped around?
How easy is it to take in and out of the case?
I will NEVER use a magnetic case on my devices.
Very expensive device + magnet = prone to damage.
What would a magnet do?

You ever use the OG Droid? Both the car dock and desk dock used magnets. Magnets are fine with these devices
I doubt a low strength magnet would have any negative effect on the device.
I ordered a wallet case with a magnetic clasp and initially I was worried about dead spots on the screen. Having received the case and seeing how laughably weak they are (just enough to hold the front panel shut, absolutely no more) I'm not sweating it at all.
I'm eagerly waiting for the FedEx guy now, but I'll report back and tell of any issues.

No doubt. I guess it's only fair though. They always pay way more than us bloody Yanks from across the pond- right, mate?
The Lautner covers are really nice.
At least we can get the Poetic case from Amazon for 5 bucks. It's not too shabby.

Lol. Yeah. I was kinda wanting to go with the Groovy (in blue).. like having the option to use it as a stand for video and reading on breaks. Guess I'll have to check out some of the Amazon ones. Only thing I noticed on most of those is they all seem to have that frame around the sides of the screen.. not sure if I'd like that. Does the auto sleep thing work ok with those? (I currently just have a sleeve I keep mine in that slides into a pocket in my shoulder bag, but I think a case/cover might be better.. less parts to have to deal with. Lol)

The cheap Poetic case can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-StrapBack-Protective-Function-Manufacturer/dp/B00AAKLDN8.
I hate cases that cover the bezel. This one fits the bill, has the magnetic on/off, and does well as a stand. (side rant: I never understood manufacturers who place the inside surface of a cover on a table when in stand mode. Great way to pick up all sorts of debris and possible scratches. This one doesn't do that, thankfully.)
I'm happy with it. Looks sleek when closed. One potential caveat : it will have that new car smell for a week or so. Didn't bother me, but may some. I would have been happy with this case for 4x the price.
By the way - While I highly recommend this for the HD+, I just as highly don't recommend it for the HD. Given the way the HD is made, it will have possible problems.

Cheers for the heads up on this Just ordered the 360 degree HD+ case and matte screen protector.

Ahh OK. Hadn't really noticed that one for some reason. I had been looking at these: http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Slimline-Portfolio-Manufacturer-Warranty/dp/B00B20N9XW Which, as you you mentioned have you putting at least part of the inside cover against the table. While the only time I'll probably be using the stand feature is at work.. those break room tables can definitely be nasty at times.
Actually now that I look at it, I remember why I'd skipped over this one, there seemed to be several complaints on Amazon of this cover damaging people's Nooks??
The Nook HD version can damage your device. The HD+ one is fine.

Really disappointed in the Lautner case. Adds a lot of bulk and not anywhere near as light as I expected. Luckily it was only £5,the original £35 is daylight robbery.
Thanks for the heads up, picked up two USB cables and chargers for less than the price of one (planned to get one anyway and handy having a spare).
they don't ship oversea (from B&N-UK-website to France/Belgium/Netherlands...)
They do from B&N-US-website, but the prices are higher and the shipment cost also (which is logical: US -> EU)
I've just ordered a Nook HD+, to start reading/try annotating texts on a tablet, thanks to their current low prices (I had to look for a place shipping overseas). It's a pitty I can't do the same with the accessories. Well, I'll have to look further for those. Or maybe see if no one I know is going to the UK anytime soon

Aaaand then there was one. Thanks for spotting that @adam_ky ! Sure beats the $32 "clearance" one I found at Wal-Mart. Lol
I'd been watching eBay and Amazon hoping for just such a find but since eBay's search ignores the "+" I found myself using 9 in the search terms to narrow it down.. this one flew right under the radar. Had $18 in my PayPal account from Ebates so this one will be free!
Nice.

I'm liking it a lot actually. Works good, not a ton of options for angles, but you only really need two anyway, ya know? I love the auto sleep/wake feature too.. the cover keeps it from coming on in my backback and draining the battery down. And it looks very nice, not cheap and plasticy.
eBay is definitely my first stop, then Amazon, then from there I go poking around the different sites .. but I'd say 99% of my online purchases are either from eBay or Amazon.
Why UK only?
Can someone buy me some things and ship them to Germany?
