I am planning to get one, just wanting for it too launch in Hong Kong. I will contact you as soon as I have that thing one hand. And thanks for you great work. It makes my life much better by having all my Sony rooted.

Too bad no one cares about Xperia Tablet S ....

goroh_kun rooting procedure works well on the Xperia Tablet Z too!

I appreciate the sentiment - but please stop posting threads for different devices that you do not own in forums that are not for that device just because it doesn't exist. I am moving this thread to Android Software and Hacking.

ok.. thanks

Was a long night of testing and I am very thankful for what DoomLoRD was able to achieve as I have now have root on my Xperia Tablet Z.
Tonight we will try and unlock the bootloader and install recovery as well.

need some testers to test recovery
contact me via p.m.

Guess you were never a n00b jerdog!

Maybe a stupid question, but when rooting using the "Root many Android" script, should one choose Normal mode, Special mode or Mode 3 (Goroh_kun mode)?
Also will the "Easy rooting Toolkit for XPEIRA Z SO-02E" even work on a non-LTE Tablet Z because it requires a dialer?

LTE Tablet Z doesn't have a dialler either
tried using Bin4ry & tkymgr scripts, no dice, hangs at the white screen display test.

you are not alone, i encounter similar situation when i upgrade my S0-03E to E.0.265.
Tablet Z owners with a different firmware version also report similar behavior.

Hi all,
In order to help others find solutions quickly can I ask, as there's no way to identify solutions officially, can you edit your titles with a [SOLVED] prefix when you find the answer to your questions. This isn't a general rule or anything I just thought being a new forum we could try start a good habit
Thanks for your help and I'll leave this open if you wish to discuss ways of improving this

[Q] Rooting the Xperia V [Solved]

Hello nice people of this forum, I've just got myself an Xperia V, running 9.0.1.D.0.10, and is looking for a method to root it without unlocking the bootloader.
I've tried googling it and searching the forums but came back empty. Perhaps some nice person can help me.

If you look in v android development there is an unsecure kernel, but this is for older firmware, maybe it works
Edit: you must unlock bootloader for custom kernel, i do not think bin4ry method works for newer firmwares

So right now, we have no root access without unlocking the bootloader.
Hopefully the genius developers will come up with something soon. A little bothered by the bloatware from my provider.

Hi funiewski,
I have tried rooting by flashing that kernel but I don't seems to get root when I check with the root checker app. Would you be able to advise on this? I would have posted in that thread but apparently I don't have enough post count.

There may be a way to root without unlocked bootloader
Try this well-known way of rooting Xperia AX in Japan.
I guess it's also possible for V to root.
1. Here is a Xperia VL's old rom and you can flash this kernel.sin and system.sin with V's loader.sin.
I can't post the link, but you can find it in uploaded.net. The ID is 3gvvv3w6.
2. Then, Root.
3. Create /data/local.prop (ro.kernel.qemu=1).
4. Flash V's system.sin without wiping.
5. Replace ric, install Busybox and Superuser.
6. Flash V's kernel.sin without wiping.
7. Do Factory data reset to easily delete unnecessary apps.

Yup, no CM10 yet for TX, though FXP devs said on their website they will support it eventually.
Hold on to your S3 first bro, it is still better(or on par) than other phones available around. And this year is all about 1080p screen LOL. Wait a bit for those phones when it's already available in the store shelves. And don't forget also about the much anticipated S4 hehehe.

Btw, only differences of T and TX are removable battery and lte right?

I just made a good deal and straight swapped my S3 to TX. Damn, the stock fw is 100x better than the S3 IMO. Not much bloatware compared to that, and screen is amazing. Will just patiently wait for JB and CM10 for TX. First off, will need to root the device. How do I determine that my bootloader is unlocked? This is sim-free phone.

See the sticky in all in one thread in q&a section by greg, everything is there.
To quickly know if your phone is bootloader-unlockable, input this in your dial pad, *#*#7378423#*#* then choose service info, then configuration, there you will see at rooting status:bootloader unlock allowed:yes(then you may start unlocking the bootloader on Sony dev site, just follow the procedure there)

No need to root if you are going to unlock your bootloader.
That "rooting status:bootloader unlock allowed:yes" refers to unlocking the bootloader whilst "rooting" the device using the runme.bat method just gives you superuser access.
They are different things,
If you unlock your ootloader, then just flash an insecure kernel, you automatically then get root access.

if you're not familiar yet with flashtool software with Xperia phones and if you don't mind unlocking your bootloader already(which may void your warranty), just go here to Sony dev site and follow procedure to unlock
after unlock, just fastboot an insecure kernel(w/ CWM), i used this -->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922925
then flash this SU binary in CWM -->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35641834&postcount=91
otherwise, just follow greg's advise in Q&A
Thanks, great. Will just unlock the bootloader. Btw, if jelly bean arrives do we need to unroot to recieve OTA updates?

Well, if you find those root tools shady, you can always downgrade and use the perf_event exploit and upgrade via OTA, or unlock and flash a superuser zip.

Sorry for making different post but as I am completely new to android I am not getting anything. Please give me step by step guide on how to root sony xperia z1 I am on kitkat 4.4.2 build number 14.3.A.0.757 and model no. C6902. And if I want to remove root how can I do it? And what things I can do after rooting? Thank you in advance.

If you do not know what to do after rooting I must question your reasons on why you want to root.
However, you may want to do it to learn about android and that is good enough.
There are numerous guides and how to posts in order to gain root on that FW, one of them is linked in my signature. There are now more direct ways to do it, but the one in my signature is good enough. Try that, it will mean some reading and learning, but that the joy in the journey
PS
Please post questions in the question and answer section

please search a little too. Anyways, wait for the latest update for ur phone. That will install 4.4.4 on your device and your build number will end with 108. Once you get that update rooting ur device becomes really easy. There is easy root tool available. Just download and start that program in ur PC and follow the onscreen instructions. Again, that will work only on 4.4.4 so wait till then.

I have searched a lot but as I told I am getting confused between build number and all. In some post I saw I need to downgrade is it necessary? And what if I don't get the 4.4.4 update?

4.4.4 for c6902 has been out for few days. Connect ur phone to Sony PC Companion and check for upgrade. Else wait for few days. You will get it for sure.

You can do it. For that you need to flash an older 534 rom, root it and then install dual recovery and then flash the latest rom. I dont know why you are in such a hurry.
