[Q] Upgrading to a Samsung LTE phone - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

My current phone is the Samsung Galaxy S3 9300 and am using it here in the Philippines. LTE was just launched today and unfortunately my phone doesn't support LTE. I want to upgrade to an LTE phone that would cost me the least amount of money. Is it ok to just upgrade to the 9305 or would it be wiser to wait for the S4?
I hope you guys can give me advices here. Thanks.

What are their price?

Oh ok You mean there are also two varieties of the new S4? 9500 and 9505? What are the differences of both aside from the latter having LTE support?

nooo, not the i9505, that's the snapdragon version. you need the i9500, which has samsung's eight core exynos, and it supports LTE

What are both of the s3 and s4 prices i mean.
In HK, the I9305 ( samsung galaxy s3 lte) costs around US$500 while galaxy s4 costs around US$756.
In this case, the price difference is US$256.
then you analyse if this is worthy to buy galaxy s4.
The battery is bigger ( volume) in S4 - but we all have portable charger, who cares!
The S4 monitor is bigger ( 0.2inch) then S3 - seriously, not much difference
The S4 monitor can display 1080HD, while S3 can display 720HD- Both are HD. For a big screen, like 50inch TV, you could notice the difference of 1080 and 720. However, come on, we are talking a 4 to 5 inch monitor and you were not an eagle ( with good eye sight), you couldn't notice the difference.
The S4 has more "floating " functions-- hahah, this function is funny, imagine how difficult you place your finger on top of the screen while not touching it while you are on a bus or while you are walking , moving , etc. What a brilliant functions hahaha.
And at the end of the day , will you spend that US$256 to buy the aboe mentioned "pros"?

Wait, which one isn't available in the US/UK?
I thought Samsung usually uses a numbering scheme that means a higher number is better than a lower one? In the case of the S3, i9305 is better than the i9300. Why did it change in S4 (i9500 is better than i9505)?

Good points. I do care a lot about the battery life though. And the S4 is much faster than the S3, right?

Based on what I just read in another thread, the 9500 DOES NOT SUPPORT LTE. Only the 9505 does, so that's one thing to consider when choosing between the two.

so yeah, as I said, should've googled it. It DOES support LTE

That information there is wrong. There are very many people in this forum that already confirmed that there are three variants of the S4. The GT-I9500, the GT-9505, and the SHV-E300S/K.
GT-I9500 - Exynos (Octa-core) CPU, no LTE support
GT-I9505 - Snapdragon 600 (Quad-core), with LTE support
SHV-E300S/K - Exynos (Octa-core) CPU, with LTE support
Here's a long thread on it for your reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210169

[Q] Can't find S3 i9305 for sale

hi guys,
so im all set to pick up the s3 i9305 with 2gb ram and LTE. I'm in Dubai UAE but somehow all the malls & phone shops only seem to have the i9300 model. Now im aware the i9305 version released few weeks back but i cant seem to find any for sale... not even online!! the iphone 5 was on sale 3 days after it was available in september through grey market at mad prices... but the s3 i9305... cant find it anywhere! whats up with that? any insight??
TIA!
Google it - loads out there, even on Fleabay. You may have to import it. Presumably you have 4G in your area to be so desperate...
I saw a Samsung shop in Dubai, not sure what mall was tho, main one for sure..
If they don't I wouldn't bother as a few fakes are floating around out there.. Check it and make sure before you buy

1GB of RAM is enough, we just need it to be managed better.
Custom Roms already include some tweaks, i can run 7 apps together without closing / no lag with my current configuration (see signature).
If 4G isn't really that important to you, get a regular international version.

Trust us, either 1 gb or 2 gb you will be satisfied. I have the 1 gb version and works just smooth. Also as you see, there is better support for it than 9305.
However we still feel a bit phished by Samsung with all those different models, but as you see, most phones are 1 gigs (including iphone 5). With 2 gigs you will only waste the ram. Also, feels good to be one of those 20+ millions having this gorgeous phone, it's really feels good, because you know how much support you can get. Also 20+ millions can't be wrong

Actually, the LTE is still only a project on a piece of paper here, probably will start rolling out next year. So I'm feeling scammed a bit only because of the ram, as I paid about 800 4 months ago for my S3, now the price dropped and with the same price you can get the 2 gigs version. Nothing more and no big deal.
Btw, with my 3g I'm getting 8-9 mpbs download and around 4-6 mbps upload, which is more than enough for a mobile phone. Before yesterday, my home adsl connection was 10 mbps down and 768 kbps up and I never complained LTE still needs a better coverage, world wide coverage and maybe same frequencies in every country. Also, the lte is killing your battery much faster. Most of people still have no 4g and they started the development of the 5g lol.

LOL. Maybe a smart choice. Put those remaining $260 safely, so next year or after 2 years you can sell the S3, add those money plus a bit more and get the S4 or S5 The phones life is short in matter of updates, so is better to keep money for future releases.

[Q] confused about Galaxy S3 GT-9300 and Galaxy S3 GT-9305

HI , i 'm willing to buy a new mobile but confused about Galaxy S3 GT-9300 and Galaxy S3 GT-9305 , i know the difference will be in RAM and 4G supporting , but i found another thing that 9305 has no Radio , is that right , i'm confused specially there are 200$ diffrence between both , so is it worth to get 9305 ?

in my opinion, you should go for the GT-I9305. I swapped my 9300 for the 9305 and i don't regret it one bit. multitasking is SO much better and the phone is much faster because it doesn't have to keep closing apps down. 1 GB is not enough.
if you have a high enough data allowance you should just use tunein radio,

i have around 350$ which phone would be best?
Definitely not HTC One Mini, inferior CPU, way inferior GPU, same amount of RAM, same mediocre screen but smaller, no micro SD card slot, and probably costs a lot more.
Galaxy S4 mini seems like a better option, but has lower screen resolution and is overpriced.
My opinion, if you're OK with non-expandable 16GB of storage, go with Nexus 4, if it's available in your country. If not, SP.

OK, so my advice, go to a local shop and test both SP and S4 mini, see whichever one you like. Forget S3 and One mini.
One more thing, S4 mini, being a Samsung kinda-flagship, will probably get a lot of developer support.

Not necessarily, 4412 is a quad-core A9, 8960T only krait300 dual-core, on the cpu, 4412 better than the 8960T. But the GPU side, adreno320 is better than mali400mp4, and support more api, such as OpenGL ES 3.0.
In my opinion , gs 3 is too old , you would better choose htc one mini or sp . But htc one mini will be much more expensive than sp . And one mini 's configuration is similar to sp or even worse !so I suggest you should choose sp

Next phone after S1? S4 mini??

After using my beloved Galaxy S1 for more than 2 years I feel its time for an upgrade. I'm currently on a tighter budget than last time so Galaxy S4 is out of my reach. I've always been impressed with Samsung's build quality and memory reliability, and am worried about moving to another brand.
I've come across a cheap contract deal with decent enough minutes and stuff for a "Samsung Galaxy S4 mini" for £20/m in UK. I was going to go for a Galaxy S3 same price but compared, the S4 mini was that bit faster on youtube videos I watched. I like the look of S4 mini as it feels very similar to S1, not to big to handle, and faster.
What I want to know if what other people (on a budget) think of S4 mini and what phone they would upgrade to next while being on a budget?

Hi,
someone in my family got an S4 mini and it is very great device...the camera is very good and it has a good performance...dual-core up to 1,7 Ghz and a few more RAM like our "good old device"
When i would upgrade i would prefer s4 mini or nexus 4 , maybe nexus 5 (should be released in the next weeks!) ... but it is my opinion...

For the contact price I don't think I'll find a higher spec device. I would also like to try the Nexus but I can't afford the phone outright and have yet to see it on contract.

hey, why dont you just save up a few extra and get the Nexus 5? Its going to be cheaper than other high end flagships i hope and its got the best specs on the market and its a nexus! Just save up the extra money you need to reach $350ish and wait it out for the N5!
Or like GalaxySN00B:0 said you wait for the release of Nexus5 and look if you can get it ...
When all the speculations are right, it will be a great device for the half of the prize of an iphone and so on ...

Or like GalaxySN00B:0 said you wait for the release of Nexus5 and look if you can get it ...
When all the speculations are right, it will be a great device for the half of the prize of an iphone and so on ...

Remember that Ruffbuster's on a budget... Maybe as he said the Nexus 5 is out of his reach for a budget.
So yeah, the S4 Mini sounds like a good plan.

Wow..!!! Extraordinary. Guess Samsung can buy them at high quantity so that they can solve the problem in production or shipment if any as they mentioned it is released at end of April. But there are somebody who can deliver their product much faster than Samsung themselves.
Why not anyone order it?

as per news on sammobile it says it wud be less than launch price of s4 which was around 42-43k so probably s5 price shud be between 40-42k if news r true
Samsung should announce the indian price today for Samsung Galaxy S5 at its launch event in the afternoon today. As you say it might be price around 45 to 50k.

US stores like Amazon etc it is listed for around 700 dollars which is around 42k. Generally pricing in india is slighlty as compared to the US market. Can be around 45 - 50K i guess.
Hopefully Samsung puts an end to the speculations at its afternoon launch of the S5 in india today
Samsung S5 Gear2 , Neo and Fit launched
Samsung S5 Exynos 5422 True Octa with 4K video recording ₹ 51500 Available from 11th April

52k (860$) !
That without 4g and exynos. Sammy is surely slipping.

I do think that this time around the Exynos version will be more powerful than the Snapdragon one.
BTW, who uses 4G in India? Even 3G adoption rate is low.
But the pricing is insane!
