[KERNEL][v1.52-STOCK/v2.15-CM10.1-10.2/REV1-STOCK/CM10.2] PH85 REVOLUTION [STOPPED] - LG Optimus 4X HD

OK as i promised i built my kernel.
Before anything i want to thank iodak which gives us nice codes and nice ideas i never took alone, laufersteppenwolf and kholk.
The code is substantially the iodak v1 code but i added some bugfixes from externity project and some Werewolf kernel features.
I'm not the "author" but just for the community i "mixed" all the best i can found actually in the net and during the time i'll research and add some interesting feature i'll found.
The new Revolution version is based on Demetris codes (Optimus Prime-play) but indeed i mixed most of the codes i found on the net.

First a question: is it for stock or CM?
Then, do I get you right that this is kernel is more-less cherry-picked?
But anyways, thanks for your work

If cherry picked stay for "i use your sources because i'm not able to code by myself", yes it is
Anyway yes almost it is.

Yeah, that's what it means
It comes mainly from git, where you've got the ability to "cherry-pick" single commits
BTW, your github it down

I not use exactly cherry pic function i use the old fashioned way copy-paste because i feel more comfortable with
You should see the commit with github app anyway

Tested it, and it appears that mobile data aand wifi are not working. It also lags at times when I unlock the screen. Everything else is ok though.

All works for me, installed it over iodak v2. 5800 quadrant. I'm loving it

Theorically raising the throttle temps this Tegra 3 platform can reach the One X (customized) level but this phone overheats too soon so i tried to setup the best i can without raising too much the temperatures limit.
The GPU clock doesn't give increase in perfomance, i tested it before editing the sources, even if you raise all GPU frequency at 600 i guess for the same thermal reason.
So for now i think i found the best overlock/battery drain compromise without compromise stability.
We all know this nvidia platform could indeed give much more performance with a better thermal cooling.

FAQS
Why is logcat disabled and how do I enable it?
Logcat is a useful service to log and find out whats wrong with the system. But it runs even when it is not required
and eats battery. So I compiled it as module and disabled it by default.
You can enable it at boot by installer
or
To make it permanent Download This script here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18323177/logcat-enabler.zip and flash it via cwm. If you want to delete it again just delete 37logcat
from /system/etc/init.d.

About Governor Modules?
Modules can be selected at boot which can be deleted from /system/etc/init.d later.
or
Governor modules can be loaded in the same way as other module. They are in /system/lib/modules.
e.g.- insmod /system/lib/modules/cpufreq_lionheart.ko
Remove modules
e.g.- rmmod /system/lib/modules/cpufreq_lionheart.ko

Why some can overclock to 921 Mhz and some only to 864 Mhz and others different frequency?
Every CPU is unique. The CPU may go upto different frequencies but they were tested for stability at a common 800 Mhz Frequency
only.

Who has tested?
Battery seems a little more consistent, percentage is not fluid thoug (eg 100% -> 91 in around 5 minutes of browsing on wifi).
Nice. This is a fusion of zImage-Mod and blackhawk? I am right? And one question more - why can by the frequency steps more normal - like in non-OC kernel, that means for example 800Mhz instant 806Mhz, or 735 instant 787, that will "look better".
Quadrant score?

I have used some parts of both anonymous and ketut sources and also other sources .
It is not about "looking better".It is about running at real frequency steps. Our Phone does not really run at 800 Mhz but at 787 Mhz.
On a stock Galaxy Ace the CPU gets its clock from different PLL's using dividers. Our device has 3 PLL's running at 245(PLL1), 960(PLL0) and 800(PLL2) MHz. The 480MHz step is using PLL0 divided by 2 and the "800MHz" step uses PLL2 divided by 1.
But this is not all.The PLL speeds are configured with a multiplier that can be configured up 63 (6-bits) and it multiplies with a clock called PLL_TCXO which runs at 19.2MHz. On the Galaxy Ace PLL2 is configred as 41*19.2MHz which means it really isn't running at 800MHz but rather at 787.2MHz.
The same applies for other speeds.

FAQs
+ Q: Whats the difference?
A: Read the disclaimer.
+ Q: Will I get worse performance than the Official CyanogenMod Kernel?
A: It depends on what commits are added. My Kernel only fixes bugs i can fix and which are unsolved and Of course, I will add more features not available in CyanogenMod Official
+ Q: What makes the stock kernel different?
A: You get goodies, and furthermore, better battery life and performance in this project.
Nice to see a singaporean are so gd in it. Gd job Bro

Well, I don´t know where the 'bug' is coming from, but since the new CM10, notification light isn't working anymore. I'm no kernel developer but I think the issue is there anywhere.
It would just be nice if you maybe could have a look there, as it's a feature, I miss for more then a month now.
With the kernel on the new bootloader my Wifi doesn' t work -.-
Gesendet von meinem LGP990 mit CM10.
Please Read the 2nd OP before posting bugs here.
And, updated OP for WIFI Fix.
Take note, the fix is only for those who get those issues. DON'T Flash unless you get the problem.
Now, If you let me peacefully add more features
Saving up for an O2X!
EDIT
Updated OP for final Nightly.
Next version is the GM. Its the final version before release channel, which will be uploaded to ROM Manager's database.
hi there nicholas, i was just wondering, since this kernel looks very promissing, is there any chance of merging voodoo sound support in the future?

This is the original HTC kernel for Butterfly s My Butterfly S project stops here.
Today I changed the rear camera (due to the purple issue), and after I closed the phone no way to switch it on, I reopened the shell and after a long search I've found a little flat cutted (the one fron the power on button).
It means to change the mainboard, and I have no intention to make this job.
Just wanna say thanks to anyone who wrote to me along this months.
Now I will move on m9.
Good luck and long life to Butterfly S, still one of the best phones.

Wake gestures support
You can manage them with Sense 6 Toolbox or Wake Gestures, both are Xposed Framework modules and Mr. Google will help you to find them.
GPU Governor & Overclock
At this point init.d support is a must, stock roms don't have it, I used "Universal init.d Support" from the market and it made its job to add the support.
To set the GPU max clock freq use the following lines in an init.d script (could be /etc/init.d/99bootGPU with 755 permissions)
Code:
echo XXXXXXXXX > /sys/devices/platform/kgsl-3d0.0/kgsl/kgsl-3d0/max_gpuclk;
chmod 444 /sys/devices/platform/kgsl-3d0.0/kgsl/kgsl-3d0/max_gpuclk;
Values for XXXXXXXX are:
585000000 558000000 531000000 504000000 490500000 477000000 450000000 409500000 320000000 200000000 128000000
To set the governor use the following line:
echo "governortype" > /sys/devices/platform/kgsl-3d0.0/kgsl/kgsl-3d0/pwrscale/trustzone/governor;
Values for "governortype" are:
simple
ondemand
performance
powersave
Let's test and feed back to me.
CPU Overclock & more CPU min. frequencies
Ok, this is a minefield, so I must be clear:
We are playing with Krait 300 CPU frequencies and voltage, apply these changes only if you have experience on this matter at your own risk and responsibility, I'm not responsible about any damage at your phone.
I added 2 overfrequencies:
1998 Mhz
2106 Mhz
and 4 minum frequencies:
81 Mhz
135 Mhz
189 Mhz
270 Mhz
You can set these values with SetCPU or 3C CPU Manager
System seem stable, but please test and feed back to me.
>1.2.2 shows a sensible performance improvement
SmartassV2 & Lulzactive CPU governors
You can set these values with SetCPU or 3C CPU Manager
Advanced USB Fast charge
There are two settings to play with in /sys/kernel/fast_charge/
- force_fast_charge:
0 - disabled (default)
1 - substitute AC to USB unconditional
2 - custom
- fast_charge_level
values to set are: 500 700 900 1100 1300 1500 (mA)
use an init.d script, I don't know if there are APKs who can manage these settings.
ExFAT
It's managed as module, so use it only if you need.
1) Copy exfat.ko in /system/lib/modules
2) Change permission in 664
3) add this line in your favourite init.d script: insmod /system/lib/modules/exfat.ko

Yep, and that's why Mini's Kernel has the same problem in stock ROM, different drivers between ROM and kernel.
If you agree I could try to share .ko modules compiled with kernel, to replace the ones in IC 7.0.7., just to try.
I'll do it soon.
Edit:
Ok, here are the modules, just unzip, push to /system/lib/modules and set permissions.
If 'twill work I'll add them to main post.
Thanks.

Reference to GPU I don't know, but for CPU oc there's to play with some driver under cpufreq and mach-msm, I'm still in research stage but 'twill be my next step, our phone is quite fast enough, but I would like the see its limit.

In think it could be logo2wake related, the wake gestures driver that I used in this kernel is M7 derived, I will check.

I tried to solve this little annoying bug phishing lot of codes, from M7 (old versions too) bug remains, from OneX as you suggested code is too different (at least for my knowledge) and touchscreen wont work after code insertion.
Sorry but at this moment I spent too many time on it and no solution, but all the rest of wake gestures seems to work fine and I found no other bugs yet.
If someone has some idea or input on it I will be glad to restart to work on it, but now I will start to work on todo list.
Cheers.
Anyway, thanks for your help!!

Manjuu Kernel v2 for NightOwl CM 12.1 / LineageOS 13

This kernel is made based on @bauner's CM 12.1 NightOwl ROM, LineageOS 13 with a few changes,. Originally based on my preference in what features I want added, I thought the rest of the Note 1 users might benefit from a bit more variety on his projects.
Just flash the kernel and you're done, make sure you're on the latest ROMs by bauner. As always, I'm not responsible if you brick your device due to some freak accident.
What's new:
V3
Merged kernel patches from bauner's commits
Redo some optimisation flags
V2
Did some optimisations
Tweak Interactive codes
Fix possible memory leaks
Please refer to my commits for more detailed info
V1.5
Set Westwood as TCP default
V1
Set Interactive as the default governor
Undervolt by 50mV
13-step CPU frequency
Download links:
CM 12.1
LineageOS 13
I did not test LineageOS 13, so please have a copy of the original NightOwl kernel on standby before flashing.

The target loads do not need to make a new line, one spacing for each of them is the way it is written.
For example, write it as: 95 200000:60 300000:33 and so on.

Hi AutumQueen92,
I would like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind...
- Have you tried a Forest-LP kernel ?
- If „Yes“, what is the difference between those two... ?
- Is your kernel overclocked ?
- What is your experience between those three kernels when you compare them (Bauner's, Forest-LP and your own) ?
- Don't be too polite and then not to write about your kernel too... [emoji2]
Thanks in advance.

1. Yeah I've tried it.
2. If you mean this kernel and his, we both used different toolchains (compilers). I'm not sure what UberTC does but the one I used is made to optimise the Note's CPU itself so it works better. But then Forest's kernel has some kind of overclocked display panel, I'm not sure what that is. It's been a long time since I used his kernel so mine is more updated since it's based on Bauner's.
3. Nope, I don't want overclock. Apps these days are made for quad-core CPUs, so overclock will do nothing except hurt your hardware.
4. I haven't been using Forest's kernel very long, I preferred War kernel or Bauner's stock kernel better. By combining those two to make mine, I feel that it's faster now although I want to do a longer usage without rebooting. Lately I've been rebooting a lot to stabilise the kernel and make some fixes, but the first usage is already showing good results. I'm trying to implement my custom tweaks, if I can't embed it into the kernel I'll post a small section for it in next month's update. Right now battery usage is about the same but better performance.
5. ??? You mean I should post a more detailed explanation about the kernel?

No, thanks !
Everything is clear now !
I already have downloaded your kernel last week and I'm gonna flash it now, cause I'm already few months using Forest-LP OC kernel and it is very stable kernel ... With no „reboots“ at all...
I'll report my experience after few weeks with your kernel...
Thanks again for explaining your work. [emoji106]

After less than a day of using your kernel I'm amazed with working of it, but I use „performance“ governor and it works great. How difficult for you is to OC this one to 1,6 GHz ?

That's very hard to believe because performance governor just clocks your CPU at max frequency the entire time. Also very impossible, I don't want OC on the Note 1. If you want it so badly you can try building your own kernel and adding it.

The performance governor is not a good idea.
As @AutumQueen92 said it will run the cpu at the highest clock all the time.
After a very short time it will reach the thermal throttling temperature and then it will constantly switch between 800 and 1400Mhz
You can see it with this app

Using V1 right now and it is very stable, should I flash the V2? Also one more thing is it possible to tweak the minimum brightness value to 1 without changing the source value and rebuild the whole kernel afterward? Thanks!

I know that thermal throttling is something what can be a problem but I have monitoring app which show me all the time what is a current temperature of processor and untill now I have no problem at all except that battery life is half of what it should be normaly...
Actually, when I wrote last post I was on „Ineractive“ governor and now I use „Performance“ governor and „cfq“ scheduler with 256 kb „read ahead“ value on the internal memory and also on the SD card. So I'll update you how far I will be satisfied with this combo. In the next few weeks I also will flash new from the scratch again your LP rom and again test it with your kernel and then again with Forest LP kernel and then at least with this one kernel...
