[Solved] Bluetooth Headset for HD+? My Sony MW600 isn't working. - Nook HD, HD+ Accessories

Solved: I had muted the sound with a WidgetLocker slider. Apparently, unlike my phone this also mutes Bluetooth audio playback. I fixed it by installing the app Volume Control+ by Coffee Break Soft (I could have probably also solved it by using the slider in WidgetLocker but I hadn't noticed it at that point). Though I solved it before posting, I'm still posting here in case someone else has the same issue.

I've had my HD+ for 4 days now. Tried to get a Bluetooth Headset working and it paired okay and shows as paired in the Nook's settings screen. It has a headphones icon with "Headset Profile". The notification bar shows the Bluetooth icon in blue.
I get no sound from my earbuds (tried two different ones since the MW600 has a headset jack). I tried adjusting the sound on the MW600 and the Nook using its volume buttons.
One clue is the Bluetooth symbol on the volume control shows a strikeout '/' (however this isn't clear because it overlaps the Bluetooth symbol on the bottom half).
I'm not sure if the Nook supports using the microphone for Skype, GrooveIP, etc. When I press the "phone" button on the MW600 I get no reaction from the Nook. On my phone, it goes to "Say a Command".
Has anybody had any luck with the MW600 or other bluetooth headsets?

Kaiser TyTn II and Bluetooth Audio

i really hope its me............. i hope its something i am doing wrong
i have heard virtually all HTC products...........and everyone has paired up just fine with my car bluetooth kit (BMW 3 series, 06 plate)
i eagerly awaited the Kaiser as the complete utopic device.............and i still think it is..............except..............THE WEEDY, TINNY, LOW VOLUME audio when on Handsfree !!!!!!!!!!!!
my carkit allows upto 4 devices to be memorised, so i have paired my HTC Touch, my HTC S710 and the TyTn II to it.......... the first 2 are perfect, rich, bassy sound with good volume that is perfectly audible even on the motorway.................
the TyTn II is VERY low, just about audible in stationary traffic and not at all bassy........... you remember those weedy HiFi systems that had about 5w Total output and could be bought for £29.99 !!!!!
i have seen a few posts saying the same thing........... i wonder if it is HTC's ROM that has this??? what about the T-Mobile users or perhaps the Dopod users??
i guess it is objective........... if you have never had a HTC device, you would have nothing to judge it by and therefore you are probably satisfied......but i have had LOADS of different devices, HTC and Mobile carrier branded, and none are as pathetic as the TyTn II on Bluetooth audio........... it is seriously stopping me using it as my main phone device which is such a big shame
PLEASE......... if anyone has any reg tweaks, rom upgrades, suggestions, ideas let me know.............. this £450 device is nowhere near as good as my wife's £30 mobile phone when it comes to audio...............
cheers
Mark
PS have to say, the audio is fine when you listen into the internal speaker or on speakerphone, so not sure it is the audio chip ???
Hi. I have the AT&T tilt and I noticed the same thing when using the audio section for playing mp3's via my Jabra BT620's when I play music using the built in wmp I cant quite get the volume I like so I switched to using CorePlayer 1.1.1 which has a preamp option in it and I can tell you for a fact there is nothing wrong with bluetooth volume when you do that. So it is probably going to be an easy software fix or even a simple registry hack to fix the volume issue.

that sounds good.............but as well as the Bluetooth volume its also the quality of the audio that i find hard to explain, no bass, just really tinny
but....... i would be happy to even increase the volume only at this stage!
Something to try: when bluetooth connection is active, tap the speaker icon on the taskbar of your today screen and turn the left hand volume slider up for more A2DP volume and the right hand volume slider up for more handsfree volume. I've tested the left hand slider & it works like a charm for hifi audio. On my 5 series, the audio sounded fine if I just bumped the volume using the steering wheel controls so I haven't tested the effect of the right hand slider on handsfree audio.

yep, bluetooth active, tap the icon, both sides up at maximum. place a call, turn 'in call' volume up to maximum, still really low and weedy !
tried the steering wheel volume and also the radio volume and still no joy!
as i said, all other devices are fine, just the tytn!
thanks for the suggestion though
maybe theres a problem with the bluetooth/wifi ariel as i have issues with my bluetooth totally failing when i turn on wifi
It works fine with the Lexus car kit. However the audio is mono and comes from the left channel only

if you dont want it in mono try PocketPlayer it will more then likely fix your problem. I love audible books, and this is now my default program for listening to them over bluetooth.
Definitely something wrong with mine. I think we should keep communicating with HTC until they fix it. My Blueant Z9 is unusable. No bass, and when I had the volume turned all the way up [both phone and headset], it almost broke my ear drum. Yet, I hardly can make out the sound coming from the ear set. I had no problem with 8525. It definitely has something to do with the antenna or the driver.
I am hoping HTC will respond to this asap.
I'm using a JawBone and what I notice, is when I use the headset to increase volume, the volume doesn't seem to actually be increasing, even tho the headset is giving acknowledgment beeps.
Seems I don't really have any control over the bluetooth headset volume. Nothing I can perceive anyway.

I can say that the fidelity on the bluetooth stereo is absolutely awesome on mine. I just used Coreplayer so I could boost the volume a tad using the preamp settings.
maybe each profile in your car kit stores unique settings for bass etc - have you tried fiddling with its settings?
There are several threads running about this. I have Jawbones and it appears that it's mainly the phone BT audio that has issues. I can use BT audio toggle and divert Coreplayer or SlingBox or iGuidance Nav sounds out to the Jawbone and they sound loud, bassy and clear.
I then place a call and the sound is wimpy and low. It's not and antenna problem, I use BT internetsharing and BT headsets all day long with this Kaiser with good range. It's "hopefully" a software issue between the phone's audio output to bluetooth. The phone's audio quality on the naitive phone's earpiece and speaker are very good quality, better quality, than my 8525 had.
It's frustrating, it's the only major flaw in the phone and HTC seems clueless in all the responses I've seen to date.
just in case anyone is interested, i have found a small improvement by doing the following:-
using a registry editor
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings
change USEJOINTSTEREO from 1 to 0
if nothing else, it just seems louder.....................
hope it helps

Music Stops when power button pressed?

Anyone have any info on this?
My old Orbit2 used to continue to play music through HTC Audio Player as well as Windows Media Player however now if I tap the power button to put device into sleep mode the music pauses.
Anyone have any suggestions/fixes for this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Not sure of Orbit as I do not own one.
But all the WinMo device I have are behaving the way you describe in TD2.
There is apps inside or 3rd party which you can just switch the display off (not the power off), So the device is not off but the display off can save you a lot of battery.
Yeah, I got an app touchlock pro that turns the display off.
Just a bit annoying that I had the problem on the orbit 1, was fixed on the orbit 2 and now the problem is back on the topaz.
Still its a minor thing I suppose - Rest of the functionality seems great so far
Just a little update on this if anyone was interested.
Upon further experimentation I have discovered that i using my bluetooth headset for music playback i can now lock the phone by holding down the end call key and then press the power button to turn the display off whilst maintaing music playback.
Not sure if this works when using a wired headset but it did not seem to work just playing out of the speaker minus the headset.
My D2 continues to play music with the screen off using both coreplayer and windows media player.
EDIT: I thought I would double check - strange, today it stops the music! I know for a fact the other night I was listening to music and the screen was (almost) definitely off. I will investigate further.
EDIT2: I thought further and I know it was playing music with the screen off. I know this because I was happy that the volume buttons still worked.
I just did some checking.
When the headphones are plugged in the music continues playing when you turn off the screen and the volume buttons continue to adjust the volume.
Without the headphones plugged in the music stops when you turn off the screen.
Thanks for that, not actually used the wired headset before but what you have said is correct. it is a shame the same method for bluetooth stereo wasnt implemented or perhaps its just my bluetooth headset. looks like might have to get the wired headset out for a bit.
Hey, is there a way to skip songs with the headset we got?
i never noticed this until today.... how annoying, i just finished loading up my new microSD.
If anyone has a fix for this, please post
Thanks!
Mine appears to be fixed now when using my bluetooth headset or the wired headset But still stops if playing through the phone speaker.
I use a Jabra BT8010 bluetooth headset, and the music continues to play after pressing the power button. The music is shut off if playing through the phones speaker....this is the same as my previous phone (htc TYTN II)

HTC one doesn't recognize headset

I have strange problem with my headset.. when i bought the phone I try the headset and it's work perfectly but since im not that big fan of headset and i always use the speakers of the phone i didn't use it since.
Today i tried use the headset but when i plug it in the phone didn't recognize it at all (no headset icon in the notification bar) I tried restart the phone no thing happen, so i restart the phone with the headset plug in now it recognized it but the problem even if i remove the headset still the sound seems to produce through it (showing the headset icon in the notification bar) and no sound through speaker.. then I remove it and restart again didn't recognized the headset (no icon in the notification bar) even with the headset plug again after the restart... I tried this like 7-8 times but no luck.
I tried the original HTC headset that come with the phone as well as my HTC one x, my friends galaxy s3 and iphone 5 but no luck also.

I've got a similar issue with the bluetooth car adaptor (HTC A200 Stereo clip). It used to work for both phone calls and music to the stereo, but now it's only connecting as a music device, rather than both audio and phone bluetooth profiles. I'm sure it's a simple fix if you know how...

Bluetooth aptX with external speaker

Hi,
When pairing up with a Loewe Speaker2Go Bluetooth speaker using aptX my Sony Z3 compact defaults to max volume and the volume control is not configurable from the phone (I am aware this is a KitKat "feature"). The main problem is that this only allows a small scale on the speaker between no sound and very loud sound (3-4 volume presses). Has anyone experienced this kind of problem with other speakers and is there a solution? Thanks,

I paired a Bluetooth Stereo Headset, LG HBS-800, has aptX. When they are connected, I can press the volume rocker on the Z3C and it'll pop up a Bluetooth Volume. My headset has its volume control and works independently.
Yeah, same on my Sony Bluetooth Headphones. Volume control via volume rockers both on phone and headphones (independantly).
My SuperTooth Disco 4 Wireless Portable Bluetooth and NFC Speaker when connected, I get a Bluetooth Volume slider. Apparently it uses the aptX protocol too.
No issue here with the Definitive Technology Cube. NFC, Throw, AptX, and Bluetooth all works together in harmony.
It's a bit of a shame for the OP as that item is pretty expensive that it does that, when much cheaper speakers don't. Odd.
It is a shame as the speaker is very good and worked perfectly with earlier versions of android. Based on the compatibility list it has not been tested with 4.4+ though... Based on the previous replies I guess it is not a sony problem as other Bluetooth aptx devices can still be controlled from the phone. For the devices this works with is the volume in sync on the phone and speaker?
My speaker is controlled entirely by the phone, it has no volume controls itself.
Ok, this seems to be an issue with the Loewe speaker and not the Z3C. I've just been to an hi fi store and tried pairing the phone with a number of Bluetooth aptX speakers, including AudioPro T9, AudioPro T10, Marshall Stanmore and the Sony SRS-X9 and with all these devices I could control the volume from the phone as well. Will check one more thing on the Loewe when I get back home - it had phone and media pairing on (not just media like the other speakers) so maybe this is the problem. If not, looks like the firmware on the Loewe does not support Android 4.4+.
I am having a similar issue but it presents itself when going above the 4th notch on the Bluetooth volume on my XZ3C. Volume goes from 0% to %15 to 30% to 80% to 60% and 70%. When my computer connects to the same bluetooth audio dongle it has a smooth range. I suspect it is a problem with the XZ3C protocols that interfere with certain bluetooth devices and not a hardware problem.
I have the same issue with my JBL speaker. I can't change the volume on the speaker without the Bluetooth volume on the phone rising or reducing. It seems that there isn't any independent control using my z3 compact but if I pair it with my LG g2, it works independently.
Same here with the Jensen Scandinavia Buddy. My Z3C cannot control the volume but my Galaxy S2 running Cyanogenmod at 4.4.4 can.
Still an issue after upgrading to Lollipop.
the good, the bad and the funny
Xperia Z3 Compact, Android 5.0.2
I connect my phone to a Philips BTB 7150 home audio system.
- the phone does not change the volume of the audio system upon connect (good)
- i cannot control the volume of the audio system through the phone's volume rocker (bad)
- when i change the volume directly on my audio system whilst connected with my phone, the phone shows the Bluetooth Volume popup and the slider moves in sync (funny)
So there seems to be some kind of control connection, but only one way.
On the other hand: no problems with iOS devices here. When connected to an iPhone the phone controls the system's volume and system volume changes are reflected on the phone's volume setting.

Xperia Z3 Compact D5803, Android 5.0.2 (Nordic stock ROM, no hacks)
Home hi-fi system with Philips BT adaptor: phone can control the BT audio volume output (as expected)
Home mini hi-fi system: phone can control the BT audio volume output (as expected)
Car BT audio system: phone can control the BT audio volume output (as expected)
JBL Charge BT speaker: phone cannot control the BT audio volume output (oops) ; I need to use the speaker's volume control
So, quite a few gadgets work well, but in fact my JBL speaker suffers from the same problem, which I never realised before.
Is it a speaker BT standards problem ?
Or is there something in the phone's BT implementation that needs refining ?
Same Problem here
I have the following problem:
I use the Z3 compact with a Sony BM-10 BT audio receiver. When a make a call with my BT headset which is not set to maximum volume the volume of the music is set to maximum from time to time afterwards. Also the volume slider shows the BT symbol or loudspeaker or the throw symbol randomly. I tried many things to solve this as pairing the BT devices again. Anyone any idea?

Audio playback skips when waking screen, using wired headphones

Hi!
I've been using a bluetooth headset and speakers since I got my XPX, but I recently started using a wired headset at work because the battery in the bluetooth one didn't last all day. I've noticed that whenever I wake the screen, either by double-tapping or using the power button, the playback skips forward by one or two seconds. This happens no matter what audio player I use (I've checked Spotify, Poweramp and Pocket Casts) and only when using a wired headset. Bluetooth and phone speakers are unaffected.
I haven't had the chance to try other headsets with this phone, but this headset didn't cause this to happen on my old phone (Z3C). Since it only happens when I wake the screen, I kind of doubt it's the headset anyway.
Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it?
Sorry to bump my old thread, but I 'd forgot I posted it earlier. I noticed the problem again today and was about to post about the problem again.
Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?
