[Q] Quick question in regard to default settings - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just have a quick question b/c I'm not sure if I changed the default wifi settings on my HTC One. When you go to settings --> wifi --> menu --> advanced is "Best wifi Performance" checked or unchecked? Thanks in advance.

Is unchecked for default

Differences between APN toggle and "Use packet data"

Hi All,
I've noticed that I experience far less battery drain by unticking "Use packet data" than I do using an APN toggle app.
Could someone explain the differences between the two, and what the APN apps leave switched on that other option does not?
Also, does anyone know of an app that unticks the "Use packet data" option?
Many thanks,
Andy
Quick update: The Extended Power Menu option "Data network mode" does toggle the "Use packet data" option.
So could this be a driver that is being disabled in the Kernel itself, rather than a service (or driver) in the OS?
Possibly a useful answer is here.
Great stuff, thanks for clearing that up for me

[ROM oSerX] brightness problem.

HI,
I would like to set the display brightness permanently in oSerX ROM. When I move the slider it does not change anything. Brightness is the same, at a low level illumination.
I'm using Semaphore 2.5.0.
How to fix it.
Sorry for my english
not a huge problem, go in there semaphore.apk and tick the auto you want and then go to settings, display and then you check and uncheck the auto correct function. good luck
Great! It' works. Thanks a lot.

What do you mean?
-It won't save the APN data?
-You don't know your carrier's APN settings?
-You can't find the APN settings?
For APN Settings (from my Nexus 5):
- Go to Settings -> More (under "Wireless & Networks") -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
- Click the "+" (with a circle around it) in the top bar on the screen
- Input your carrier's data
- Press the three dots in the upper right of the screen, the click "save"
- You new APN should have a blue dot next to it.

You try saving (you actually see the "Save" prompt), and it doesn't save?
I had issues with IZS where I could add a new APN, but it wouldn't default to it. a useful tool was:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore
It allowed me to clear the existing APNs and input a new one.

Force 5GHz wifi? (9.7)

Hey everyone - just want to check if people have noticed this and/or have a workaround for it.
I'd like to set my device to connect only to 5GHz networks. On other devices, I'd do this by Settings -> Wifi -> (menu) -> Advanced and toggle the Wifi Frequency option there. As far as I can see, the Advanced option isn't available on the Wifi menu screen.
1) Is the advanced settings screen missing for everyone else?
2) Is there another way to access this screen?
3) Is there another way to toggle the relevant setting?
Thanks for your help.
Use that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.WifiManager

Here's another one for ya:
How do I tell Tasker to go to a specific option within settings?
Task > Select Action Category > Settings and select the one you want.

I can't find the audio tuner option, and I tried to find it.
I need Tasker to tap here when I open the music player so the sound profile is enabled.
Thanks
