ok, nice that anyone has picked up the project, but some more information would have been nice
Yes, I am very happy that work has resumed but it would be nice to have some form of roadmap in terms of what you are trying to achieve like the hardware zoom thread

thanks again for taking the time to do this. Im free for any beta testing

Give me some time i will fill all the details in first post.
Nice to see someone is still working on this. I have been following the development since it was started, and would really like to help. However my programming skills are litterally non-existent, so probably not much I can do apart from cheeering you on? beta testing? let me know..
Cheers
Finally,
Some people like myself too, were hoping in that. A full working version of android on the touch HD...Good luck...and post your results...we would be really pleased to test...
tuxhero - Your the man
Hi tuxhero,
Touch HD is a very good device, but windows is not a good SO.
We all know windows, slow, always crashing...lost os bugs...
Android in Touch HD would be real great.
I'm available to do developments, testing, anything.
Try to describe really well, provide helpful link....you know info that can help...
I'm joining this TEAM TUXHERO ANDROID BLACKSTONE
It seams that at least now things are going on the right track, we have people working.
See you my friend...You are the man!!!

Why is Windows not a good OS? I'm not a fan at all, but such statements are simply not true. Furthermore you should consider that Windows has nothing to do with Windows Mobile ...

Mine isn't crashing that often, isn't slow and I haven't noticed any bug so far.
Just to make it clear: I don't want to hamper the development. In fact I would love to see an alternative to Windows Mobile, but saying things like above aren't the right motivation!
Windows Mobile - even in 6.5 version is good couple years behind functionality of Android or Iphone OS. It was build for PDAs or Pocket PC and it was working perfectly fine for those devices.
BUT for HTC Blackstone - it is not suitable, yes TouchFlo is making this beautiful phone usable, but its only thanks to it one can appreciate it's functionality.
That is why I would LOVE to see Android working on Blackstone.
So thank you for trying. I will be among the first people that will test it whenever you will make it available. [I am just a phone user/gadget lover - so can't help more than that]

I don't think that WM is a bad OS.
Ok, the shipped ROM of my HD was... omg it was horrible.
But when I look at the actually cooked ROMs, they are very fast and stable.
There smoothnes is almost as good as the Iphone's one.
I think all OS's has there positive and negative aspects:
WM is not the userfriendliest, but fully customizeable!
Iphone OS is very userfriendly, but its customizeable like a Gameboy (Customizeable don't means installing different programms)
Android is an alternative to both OS. Userfriendly and customizeable. So if anyone isn't that happy with WM, Android is an good alternative.
I would support this project with all I'm able to.
Greets
Thankyou for your support but please limit this thread to Android Porting only don't use it for other stuff.

Some kind of sum up would be nice, I guess its too hard to get involved by reading the whole "old" thread ...
Funny
I bet this thread is going to nowhere. Mr. starter will disappear in a day or two.

I'm sorry, of course, for bringing that to the public.
Is it possible to extract the kernel from the HTC Magic ROM and test it on our Blackstone?

It is possible but you don't need to extract it we already had source code so we can compile it. But the problem is blackstone is not designed to run Android
that changes lot of things. Now our task is to find what we need to change n change it.
So you said that you are using the android-msm and not the htc-msn kernel for now.
What kernel did xmoo and obus(?? not sure about the name ^^) use? The htc-msm?
Is the android kernel as good as working as the version from obus/xmoo, or is it working better in the moment?
Sry for my english *g*

any way to run ubuntu on blackstone?

hi everyone.
it's kingo, from my blackstone with energy rom 3.0 (nice rom!),and this is my first post.
i was wondering... is there any way to run ubuntu arm on our beloved brick? i assume it would be under haret, and would need some controllers for its linux kernel, isn't it?
if it is already possible, i'd be happy. if its not, would it be possible to create an ubuntu image for haret using the controllers thata re being developed for android?
thanks in advantage. i'm sorry if my english sounds like an autist monkey. blame the spanish state school...
I personally think thats an insulting reply from a senior member. A question was asked genuinely, no need for such remarks.
er, ok. you must be very fed up of people 'asking before searching' to anwer this way. I was the fool, so I'll keep MY sarcasm this time.
If it's been asked here before, it must be the first topic I google for and don't find xda treads.
I'll search to find out why mine is a 'stupid question'
I would personal like to see PSP OS on HD, both are using arm... right?
haha....
the question is reasonable in my point of view.
if theres a way for android... why should there be a way for (other) linux based OS.
k, maybe theres no need for it.. but hey, why reacting so harsh?
Obviously the HD doesn't fit the hardware requirements for the PSP OS.
¿Is it obvious that it doesn't fit the requirements for Ubuntu ARM? I don't know. That's why my post was a question. At least ubuntu code is free and many people try to port it to any suitable platform... And it can run on a 528 mhz and 288MB ram desktop computer, can't it?
I didn't expect to have compiz running smoothly on the HD. But Ubuntu Mobile, Ubuntu ARM, Ubuntu Embedded (I don't know the difference) are suposed to run on "embedded devices"...
Ok, first of attitude of a few people on this thread is disgraceful & insulting and I'll be contacting them shortly via PM.
Secondly, can I remind everyone this is a family website browsed by people of all ages, so try and keep language in check. This site is based on a community who share information, not insult each other. Please try and treat people the same way you would like to be treated!!
I'm closing thread to stop any further comments

running different OS on droid

Hi, i am wondering if we can run WM 6.5 or ubuntu on our phones?
Most WM 6.5 phones can run android( most htc`s - HD2 very good, samsung omnia)
iphone can run android
Then what droid can run? My friend told me, that he saw on kde`s site version for cortex a8, but now it is not available.
It will be great to run ios, WM 6.5 or UBUNTU, if someone knows something about this, please feel free to share info in this thread, thanks!
No problem

I believe this site has everything you need: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ubuntu+on+android
No need for sarcasm. If you know the answer, tell him. If you don't, no need to post.
I'm interested in this too.
you CAN port ios, ubuntu, or winmo to the droid, but someone has to step up and do it. I meant there is an ios clone for the mytouch 3g, and then theres a droid that was home built that runs winmo 6.5, and someone got ubuntu on the nexus. all I'm saying is that it is possible if we have a dedicated dev
Im all in to help for whoever's interested. Dunno how much help I can be with coding but Ill do what I can. Id love to see winmo7 on the droid.
I ran android as well as ubuntu on my hd2.. just saying.. why not droid (the original developer phone)
i am still searching, but

The UBports project

The UBports Project
What is The UBports Project?
Ubports team of developers and a meeting place for developers that wish to port Ubuntu Touch to as many devices as possible, This is a place where Developers can talk to other developers and learn from each other and help push Ubuntu to more devices as teams, or by yourself but with community support if you wish.
If you’re a user of a device without much developer knowledge this is also a place you can help out, you could try to link developers together if you think they could help, you could send a link, or help by throwing a bone, donate devices or money for things such as OTA (over the air) update servers, web server, CI servers and other money costing services and items!
A user can also get some help if they spot a bug or have any issues with there Ubuntu Touch Device, there are many Developers and Users that would love to help you with any problem you have!
This is a place for Users and Developers to Play, I mean Port nicely!
What is Ubuntu Touch:
Ubuntu Touch is a new OS to mobile devices, developed by canonical. The biggest problem with it now is the lack of support to different devices, that is what we want to change…
So are you interested in Ubuntu touch? Does it look like something you would use as a daily driver? or may you just be curious on what this all is about, Join us at the forum or download Ubuntu touch to your device. If the device is not listed in the device page, you can vote on your device to get ported.
What Devices do you support?
Currently we only support the OnePlus One, and we will try our best to port the new OnePlus Two as fast as it's out. That said, we are always looking to port new devices!
Device page: devices.ubports.com
Cannot find your device? send an email to [email protected] with your device, and I will add it to the list.
Are you a developer?
Join us make Ubuntu Touch available on a number of different devices, and also make it stable and safe to use as a daily driver… Instead of working alone, join our community and get your device supported as a official UBports, then your device will get OTA servers, Download servers, CI for builds and support by other UBports developers.
Any question, please let me know! comment bellow or join our forum at forums.ubports.com

My statement to the stop ubuntu touch

Unfortunately, our mamenyaka working on ubuntu touch abandoned as her yes certainly all know. So I ask to provide the working xda community ready. mamenyaka has proven his work publicly. I think it would be very great pity if the work is not completed. If it is not for nothing which is very unfortunate and invested time in the development vain true all the work of mamenyaka. So I ask you, the work done. Because much it's apparently no longer. Ubuntu Touch runs yes but unfortunately it does not buggs. So say one is more or less just before the goal. And last it therefore just a pity if it is not completed. I also ask the MultiROM developer to the implementation of ubuntu touch would encourage touch the development of ubuntu. Because it is of course much more attractive to ubuntu to work touch though a multiboot is possible. I think if more people at ubuntu so any work touch on a problem-is the work of each is not much and thus can be put ubuntu touch finish in a small period. This is my statement on this subject. And I hope that the development will be completed.
I hope you understand my text. Sorry for my english
