[HELP] HTC One won't boot!! No OS... Stuck at splash screen. :( - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HELP!!! I tried to install a ROM and all my data were gone and my SD card files look pretty messed up so I decided to wipe the system and return to Stock later.
After wiping the system, I realize the OTG storage cant be mounted and the HORROR begins. My phone got no OS to boot.
I tried to flash stock boot image and recovery and tried installing the official RRU. It failed. Now I can't even boot to fastboot or recovery.
It is stuck at HTC Quietly Brilliant splash screen.
I know some of the steps I did were pretty silly.
I need this phone tomorrow.
Pleaase HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!! :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

when you press power+volume down (without releasing the keys) for a few seconds (could be 20-30, doesn't matter), what happends?

first of all you data from you sd wasnt gone it just gets moved to support 4.2.2 multiuser.
what you should do is use all in one toolkit to run the fastboot commands for you. then i would sideload arhd 10 to your phone.
im running it now and its absolutely perfect

Can you boot into recovery mate, go into bootloader and reflash custom recovery if you cannot. Get into recovery and adb sideload either Android Revolution HD 9.4 or 10.0, the rom should begin to install once its transferred over, It takes a while so let it do its job to transfer, also make sure you have up to date adb drivers and files, otherwise adb sideload wont work.

Actually I mentioned that in ARHD thread. Before install arhd 10, I only had 7GB available. After installing, I had 25GB available. I tried to find my data everywhere with Root explorer. It's just not there anymore.

I have encoured the same issue and the only solution for me is to plug into pc and run the solution All In One !
I'm enabled to reboot into recovery and do a nandroid restore !

I am aware of that method. It helped when stuck in Aroma. But right now, it just stays there no matter what button combo I try.

does your computer recognize it at all when you plug it in

keep trying the button combo power+volume down under a bright light or try to use the all in one toolkit.
if you cant get it with that you can wait for the battery to die

Don't panick, plug your phone into usb, go to cmd and try a command "adb devices" if it sees the device then try "adb reboot bootloader" if it doesn't see it, then I guess you have wrong drivers, there was a thread on xda with the correct ones

Are you running stock, or did you root and customize?
Try plugging it in to a computer. A lot of us are finding better results when you do. You may end up having to do more. But just being connected to a computer has helped in the past. Quick fix before you start trying adb

Turn fastboot off in the power settings. I'm not sure if it has the fastboot setting, but that would be your problem.

Err ..... it won't boot.
Does ADB work at this stage? Assuming you are rooted with CWM recovery, try
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Then from recovery, power it off completely. If fastboot is the problem, this should workaround it for you.

It's karma because of your ridiculous signature.
Anywho. What did you do to the device? Attempt to root it? What happened between it working and not working?

Known issue about the bootloader. Have to be connected to a computer via USB to be able to boot into recovery. if you have a working system partition you can use a script or other apps that will boot you into recovery.
Also the bootloader will freeze if you try to boot into it via the buttons if you are connected to a power outlet via USB

That's interesting. I pretty much always make sure I'm plugged in before going into recovery / bootloader anyway (I'm paranoid about running out of battery mid-operation). I also pretty much always use adb reboot recovery, etc rather than hardware buttons.

Not neccessarily true. I use an app called Quick boot. I can boot into recovery from it with Ease. Lets me set up Widgets/icon for recovery and I have one for reboot. No need for me to hook up to pc. Anywhere at anytime I can boot into recovery on my Nexus 7. I can also set one up for bootloader. If someone gets stuck on bootloader screen, the hardware button press for reboot works to get out of there.
They have a free version of the app and it works perfectly. Check it out. No need to run to a pc everytime you want to flash a rom or something. Battery is nothing to worry about. As long as you have 50%(really even less than that), you good to flash, wipe, or what ever.

Me too. Though I'm old school and still like to type commands rather than point and click. I'll be looking at Quick Boot but still go to PowerShell (which I always have open) and type adb reboot.:silly:
All the various apps that offer rebooting options will work as they are still executing the same terminal commands that you would've had to type in in order to reboot it.
The issue is that you would still require a working system partition in order to boot into recovery (stock/twrp/cwm) without any USB connection. Incase of a soft brick, you will need to connect to a computer in order to get into recovery so i would suggest people make sure they have one nearby when they're flashing stuff.
I just went through this. I boinked my setup and it was bootlooping. I couldn't get into CWM.
Just press and hold Power+VolDwn+VolUp until you get into the stock bootloader. Now plug in your USB to to a PC.
Stay in the bootloader. Mine actually kinda froze but it will unfreeze after a while. Don't select anything. Just stay there.
Now you can use Fastboot commands to reboot into CWM. ADB only works when the phone is on.
I think the command is "fastboot reboot recovery".
This will put you in CWM. You can also take this opportunity to reflash your recovery here too. I reflashed mine just to be on the safe side before rebooting it.

[Q] HTC One M7 stuck in boot loop

Hi,
I used Hasoon's all in one tool to successfully unlock the bootloader on my One, and flashed a recovery (TWRP).
When I went to install a kernel (Bulletproof) I messed up and installed the boot.img file from bulletproof instead of loading it through recovery (dumb i know).
Now my phone just constantly reboots itself, it gets to the HTC splash screen for less than a second, and then reboots again. Holding down power + volume down does nothing either.
Can anyone help or suggest anything please?

Try holding just volume down. Do you know how to use ADB? if you time it right a fastboot reboot-bootloader will get you to bootloader or you can do it through the all in one toolkit you will have to close the first window at the right time and it will send the command for you.
And some light reading pertaining to your issue

Well looks like it's time to learn.
First thing that just might make this easy. In the all in one under commands there is Erase Cache. Click on that hit the ok button and then close the first window. Next windows will say waiting for device now with a little luck upon one of the reboots it will catch the device and wipe the cache. That should then allow you to hold volume down and get into the bootloader. If not let me know and we will proceed to option 2
Read through those threads and the first one was the closest to my problem.
Tried the Boot into Bootloader and Erase Cache commands from the All in One tool and both just give me "device not detected" errors. Tried them multiple times during the phone booting up, but its not even being detected by my PC.
I can't even turn the bloody thing off it just sits there on my desk buzzing every time to restarts itself.

Sorry watching the google IO man some cool new things are coming :good:
Ok now down to business. I am guessing your computer is all set up and you have drivers as you already installed a recovery. So do to the all in one toolkit then go into the data folder once there hold down Ctrl and shift and right click on empty space. You will get a option to Open Command Windows Here do that. A black dos command box will pop up. type
fastboot reboot-bootloader
it should say waiting for device
Nevermind that's not going to work. Try this when your phone is starting up hold the power button until screen goes black then immediately hold down volume down and don't let go. Try with the phone plugged in to computer and without

I left the phone in the office overnight and it must have drained the battery enough to kill the boot loop. Was able to get to the bootloader screen this morning when I checked before leaving for work.
So reflash recovery you think or should I factory reset it and start again?

I would reflash custom recovery do it a couple times and after that wipe the cache. Power down the device and then turn it back on and go to recovery.
Make sure it has a decent charge on it like 30%, 50 would be best.

Use CWM because at this point you are going to have to sideload the ROM. So find the ROM you want and download it. Then rename it to rom.zip then from the all in one go to side load a rom and in clockwork mod go to the same thing might be under advanced.

Installing a custom kernel on top of an unmodified stock ROM is a very bad idea. You don't have to go full custom like TrickDroid or ARHD, but there are rooted/somewhat modified stock ROMs available to use.

If that's what you originally did then that's what caused this to happen. You can not install a custom kernel on a stock Rom. Unremarked is 100% correct. Also check the Rom to make sure it supports a custom kernel. Trick droid is nice coupled with a custom kernel you can use the HTC logo for a menu button

That is, stupidly, what I did. Wasn't aware I couldn't install a kernel on stock ROM.
So....
From here install a custom ROM via sideload through the all in one tool?

Been doing some more reading and I think I'll go with the Renovate ROM, so I should just need to install a recovery again and then sideload the ROM?

First of all - Please format your posts into paragraphs. People don't like reading a wall of text and will probably make it less likely for you to receive help.
(Im going to assume you haven't made a Nandroid backup and made a safe copy)
I'm new to Android a couple of months so there will be people on here with more experience than me who might be able to help you with an easier/quicker method, but this is what I would do:-
Download the latest Android Revolution HD (a Sense-based ROM that is the same as stock but better - read about it), other Sense-based ROMs are available but I like ARHD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023
Rename it to something like arhd.zip
Use the All-in-one-toolkit to side-load the ROM to your phone. It will begin to install automatically. Use the volume/power keys to install - it makes it less likely for the installer to crash.
There would be no need to root as ARHD comes already rooted.
You could also look/ask around for a Nandroid backup of your device/carrier and adb side-load to your phone but that would be more work for you. This would put your phone back to stock like new again. The best guide I've seen on here for people new to flashing, backups, etc. is here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
**Tampered** happens I think when you flash a custom recovery. S-ON is normal - don't worry about it.
Good Luck. Hope I've helped...
If I've made any mistakes here, someone please correct me...

To be honest mate I can't totally remember, I've only used it once and it's been a few weeks since I messed my phone up and had to use the toolkit sideload to fix it. I'm on a Mac at the moment so can't even check. It wasn't too hard to figure out though!
The toolkit (by hasoon) you already have is the toolkit I'm talking about. Sideload is just installing the ROM from somewhere else when it's not stored on your phone. (i.e. on your PC).
The installer (if you get that far) is called 'Aroma' and quite buggy when using the touchscreen so just use the volume keys to move around the options and the power button to select them.
Ty lol, Im currently using volume and power button to moving in the bootloader, it a brand new phone and im panic lol. Ill try all of that tomorrow

Like I said, I can't remember 100%, but its in the toolkit under 'Extras' -> 'Sideload a ROM' or something similar. It might even guide you through the steps. There's probably guides and videos online somewhere. Just call your zip file something simple to help reduce the chance of error.
Not sure I understand what you're saying... If you press recovery, you're taken to the recovery screen?

the tool work from fastboot mode in bootloader. so you must be in bootloader to use it but the toolkit has options that will boot the phone into bootloader

Tried what before? When you press 'fastboot' on the device nothing major happens on the phone - it's waiting for commands from your PC.
Edit - Too late, what he said ^^
It keep saying in cmd that device not found

Try to push it to your device without the toolkit. Read this site
http://m.androidcentral.com/android-201-10-basic-terminal-commands-you-should-know
Use adb push command to send the ROM to your phone while in fastboot mode. Once it's on your phone, just go into recovery and install it from zip.
Place the 'android-tools' folder you download from that site directly onto your c:/ drive, not on your desktop etc. It just makes it easier.

Forgot to say - put the arhd.zip ROM into that folder also.
Try to go into recovery first to see what folders you have, if any. I had a folder called '0' when I messed up so my command would have been
adb push arhd.zip /sdcard/0

I did flashed android revolution hd on my htc one, and I thought something went wrong so I took the decision to re do it, and I was stocked at final step, showing 10% only, not moving any further, then I was out of juice and my phone went dead, and when I restart it, its just showing start up.screen not moving any further.
You need to boot in to recovery and flash it again. The installation didn't finish so of course it's not going to go any further. It happens all the time.

I thought to root my mobile, unaware of benefits and risks, somehow I managed to root, then thought ti flash a Rom, just Googled it, decided to go for android revolution hd with twrp recovery, twice I use touch screen then I took the lesson to not to touch it, and finally I flashed it, but I was not able to download apps from store, so I took the worst decision of my life, to re do the procedure, and I did went upto final step of installing android revolution hd, there I was stucked at 10%, not moving any further. Finally when my battery was zero percent I tried ti switch on my mobile and I am stucked at start up screen.
not going into recovery, volume and on off switch making no sense at all.

It's just not happening, not going into recovery mode.
What do you mean? Did you turn it off and when turning it on immediately hold down the volume down button so you can get to the screen to select recovery?

hold power+volume down with phone under a bright light until it boots to bootloader. you might want to try a rom that doesnt use aroma until your comfortable with recovering your phone when something happens
exactly

I need help asap

okay i was puttiing a new rom on my phone and long story short i deleted everything and now i get stuck at the htc boot screen and CAN NOT get any further past that, im not sure what or if anything i can do to fix this, some one please help, email me will be quicker, [email protected]
im used to working with samsung phones not htc and im stuck in quicksand with this one.
Did you make a backup in recovery? I tried to flash a ROM once and it got stuck on the HTC screen but I somehow managed to hold the power button for a while and reboot back into recovery to restore to my previous ROM.
Question about situation
Normally in this situation you could hold Vol Down+Power until the unit shuts off then let go of Power and continue holding volume down. This should drop you back off in HBoot/Fastboot from here you could get back to the recovery screen and most recoveries now allow for ADB access to repush or flash another install.
If you are able to get into Recovery what are you currently running?

there is absolutely no rom on it now, so theres nothing on the phone. i think my only hope would be trying to run something of an sd card or hope that i can run some program on a computer.
twrp isn't installed as well. everything got erased, i think what i have to do is send the files over through terminal if i can get it connected via usb, idk. im not sure, i feel like I've really done myself in on this one, some one save my skin please

i don't want to sound like a noobie but how would i get that to flash i can't pull up any screens besides the htc white screen
Have you tried pressing power while holding the vol up button then when the screen goes black pressing and holding the volume down button to get into the bootloader? If you can get into the bootload (and I suspect you probably can if the phone still gets to the white HTC screen) you can flash a recovery and then flash a rom.
nothing is wrong with your phone nor do you need an sd...if u know how to use adb...push the rom back to the phone in recovery..simple as that..sd card works too but youll be fine which ever way...u have no problem
