Thanks for keeping this phone awesome. However it's time for me to move on. - Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G

I got a 16GB Nexus 4.
The Exhibit II worked great to good for the year I owned it. Thanks to the community I was able to enjoy the latest and greatest features.
However I just feel it's time for me to get something with a beefier screen and hardware. I believe I took this phone as far as I could go with it.
Now is time to put it up for sale and hope someone else can get use of this phone.
Any good custom roms that auto update or are finalized that I should throw on the phone before selling it?
This has really opened me up to roms and tweaking. I'm sure in time I will mess with my Nexus 4 too. So far it has been a really solid phone for me.
I just need a good case and screen protector as sometimes I can get butter fingers.
Thanks for making my Exhibit II awesome.
I may peek in time to time. See ya!

Good luck with the N4, enjoy it!
For screen protectors, check out xtremeguard. They're wet-application protectors; the one on my Exhibit hasn't come off in the 6 or so months I've had it on, and it looks great- my sister got a set for her new N4 (So jealous). Definitely get the back protector too. Enjoy your phone!
P.S. Try the coupon code 'memorial' at checkout

Hey, thanks a million! Sweet.
As far as cases.... Thinking of either the Ballistic case or KaysCase ArmorBox. I also need a belt clip.
So far I am loving it. While I did enjoy the Exhibit II. The Nexus 4 is freaking smooth.

Alright....
For a case I went with the JKase DIABLO Series Tough Rugged Dual Layer Protection Case Cover with Build in Stand for LG Google Nexus 4: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AY2OP2I?tag=at055-20 which is a clone of the ArmourDillo Hybrid Protective Case.
Also got the Google Nexus 4 Vertical Bergamo Leather Case with Fixed Belt Clip: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AD69P6G?tag=at055-20
Now just waiting for Monoprice to get some of there premium slim usb cables in stock: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030307&p_id=9762&seq=1&format=2
Also have this 9000 mAh charger: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10831&cs_id=1083110&p_id=9531&seq=1&format=2
Think that should do it.
Hope the usb port on the Nexus 4 is tough. I kinda almost tried to plug the usb cable in upside down when I was half asleep half awake. Whoops. Well I did try it the correct way first but being new it was still a little tough the first few times plugging it in.
Considering one of those usb docks. Unless there is any cheaper wireless chargers out there?

Otterbox Commuter Series quick/dirty review

I'll do a more detailed review tonight and switch out the photos with better ones too.
First impressions: Holy crap this is huge!
It is very reminiscent of the commuter series for the HTC Hero (of course). However, this one feels a bit more "rugged".
The case has the standard plugs for the headphones and microusb ports. It also has the raised areas for the volume rocker and on/off button. The front is well protected and thick enough to not really have to worry about placing the phone face down.
It was much easier to attach than the Sedio Innocase! And conversely, it's a PAIN to remove (which is a good thing!)
It takes about the same amount of force to slide open the keyboard. It's borderline too hard for me.
Oh, the keyboard lights aren't completely covered either! Granted you still can't see them looking directly down at the phone, you can see them if you tilt the phone back a little.
My initial qualms are:
1) The case is slightly too long for the phone. The top of the case that is around the keyboard is loose. Not just a little, but it looks like it wasn't even meant for this phone.
2) Like the mini-usb plug on the Hero's commuter series, the micro-usb plug on the Shift's commuter series doesn't want to stay in.
3) Since the back side is beveled and it's semi-hard to slide out, it sometimes takes a couple tries because it keeps slipping out of my hands.
Nit-picks:
1) Backside cover is off-center (flash/camera/speaker aren't centered in their respective cutouts)
2) No silicone on the front so when it's face down it slides around easily (compared to the hero which had silicone bumpers on the front)
Where did you get it from? Still says preorder on my end

It's does a very good job of covering up the phone and not being loose.
Got mine today, as wizputer noted the mini-usb isn't snug enough to remain in the port. Otherwise, very impressed with the design and construction of the case.
got mine in today, very pleased. although it was a little bit of a b*^&h to put on. After getting it on I noticed the usb plug being a pain, and the power button seems to need a lil extra force to actually click, but other than that love it. I feel safe now
Good review, disappointed, love my Otterbox's for my EVO and HD2. The split covers though, Shift and Tilt (from experience), just do not seem to provide the same kind of coverage but I do not know what else they could do to make them better.

Actually you just have to know how to make it stay there's a little trick to it when you close it. You have to kinda pull the thing up a little bit and then slide it in and stays. That's how mine works anyways ..

I just always wiggle the flap into the port, best case by far would definately recomend. ORDER FROM OTTERBOXS WEBSITE, when it first came out I tried it from amazon (it was $10 less) but the expected shipping date was in june.
No I'm not using Tapatalk... I'm using the XDA Premium app, cause I got balls.
Be careful with the otterbox guys, dropped mine for the first time today and 3 of the 4 clips to hold the back on broke, making the case absolutely useless..... waste of 30 bucks!

When. That happens call otterbox and they will no auestions asked replace it usually takes 1week shipping I've had 5 so fardo this and most recently they sent me 2x so I don't need to calll next timeill. Be prepared...love this company

+1 to that . They have like you said Replaced mine about 4x's. Never once asked for anything but my address. Best company ever . Have since bought Otter Boxes for all my Devices.
I got this case mid August, and about a week ago, I dropped it. While in free fall, the top of the case just fell off my phone and broke in half. Sad thing is, I dropped it from about 2 feet. But yes, I called it in, and they are sending me in another, just have to watch out for my phone a bit more! (At least I get to replace the screen protector, put it on kinda bad, XP

[Open Thread] Thoughts On Otterbox Case For EVO Shift 4G

So I just wanted to start a thread for myself and anyone else who may want to read it
Basically anyone who has an otterbox case for the evo shift or has seen/used it or whatever just leave your opinions/reviews whatever. I am thinking of buying one so just wondering
I don't have one for the Shift but I've used an Otterbox on other devices and would recommend it if you have the slightest fear of damaging your handset.
I believe the last one I used was a Commuter which completely encased the handset and seemed to be able to take a hit. The back was too smooth for me so I had a little trouble re-learning how to hold it and the thickness of the handset increased significantly but overall it felt safe. Worth the extra money.
I am using the otterbox commuter case on my shift right now. I like it a lot. The fit and finish seems like it is completely a part of the phone. Only two complaints are:
1. If I try to move an icon from one hone screen to another, the piece covering the screen makes it difficult to move it to the "edge" - not a big deal, you learn to adjust.
2. When opening the slider, I hear a click sound, sounding like the little tabs holding the upper piece on are catching as it moves. Again, kinda not picky.
All in all, I think it is a great case and makes me worry a lot less about dropping my device. I would definitely recommend it.

Awesome seems like ill want to pick it up. I recently cracked the screen on my shift and made a few scuff marks so that's what seriously turned me to getting the case.

Tip for putting on the included screen protector...patience and a clean work surface! I couldn't get it to work well at first, then I ended up dropping it on the carpet. I was ready to give up on it until my wife took it from me and got it to work. So...if you have the patience of an ADHD kid on meth like I do...lol. It was my first screen protector too so. Anyways have fun!

definitely worth getting. i have the commuter series otterbox and it makes my phone look and feel like a beast. only thing that annoys me sometimes is the dust/lint that gets stuck to the rubber on the case, but i just blow it off.

I haven't had a problem opening the slider at all.
I have one and love it! Top of the line case, looks good feels good and protects good! I would totally recommend it to anyone with a Shift!..
I use it on my shift, and have had them on two other phones. Like everyone else said, its a great case, and really does look like a part of the phone.

I'm now on my second otterbox after a free factory replacement, my only nit pics are the usb port cover doesn't stay closed, and it clicks everytime I open it, feels like one of the clips is catching....

Just got the Commuter series and I'm a fan so far. Makes the phone feel more substantial and gives a better grip. The only issue was with the headphone and USB port covers, which didn't stay down. I just removed them, but DON'T Rip them off, it'll tear the rubber casing. Found that out on the USB port one so I cut the headphone one off. Either way makes the rubber a little loose around the port but not hugely annoying unless you're a perfectionist(which I can be). I'll just apply a little glue and seat it on the plastic frame.

Nope I can confirm that, being really careful you can take the back without any problem..
I Think that the front parts being hard to take off it's a good thing.
Had mine for 2 or 3 months now
Bought it from Amazon for like $25 when they finally came available for the shift and had to wait a month before I got it in hand.
I'm not as impressed as i would be with the protection if it was a defender case. I had the black case with fake carbon fiber and belt clip before. The otterbox commuter is better then that one, by how much I'm not sure.
I dropped my phone about a month ago. I don't know if it just hit the right place of the case, and the back case came flying off the phone, the side clips where busted off, so the back case would not stay on any more.
I decided to call up otterbox and see if it was under warr. and if they would replace it. AMAZINGLY they said YES so they shipped me a new one for free i didn't even have to pay shipping. NICE. It was quick and easy I thought that was soooo cool. Because of that i will continue to buy otterbox, and recommend them to others.
In future i hope to buy defender cases (better protection) which means no more slider phones which i think i am ready for now that touch screens are so much better. All my old phones have been sliders with full keyboards from back in the day with my old HTC t-mobile MDA, which made me find this site.
Thats my 2 cents.

Yoobao Similar Case for N7???

I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with the brand Yoobao, but the make really good cases for the iPads (yes, I know, an Apple product. blah blah blah). My GF currently has it on her iPad2 and the fit is awesome.

I've seen the YooMee, and frankly its not what I'm really looking for.

they make cases for the Galaxy Tab 7.0 which has similar dimensions. I wonder if it would fit...
Yea, but Belkin is way overpriced and their products are crap
Finally got an email from YooBao. Be on the lookout for next month, they make really good cases and the fit is phenomenal.

Funny I just replaced my 10 year old belkin 54 g wifi router not because it didn't work anymore, but because I now have a roommate and want more bandwidth for the home network. Guess 10 years of solid reliable service is crap, huh?

The case is displayed on their wbdsite. Looks like smaller version of the good Ipad case.
Had a yoobao case on my sensation. The case is actually flame resistant and honestly had a great fit and look.
Looks like the case is out:
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-f...Case-for-google-nexus-7stand-wholesalers.html
$30 with free shipping. A much better deal than the Official case for the same price.
also available on eBay for $5-10 more.
Has anyone used Aliexpress or Alibaba? I think they're mostly direct to retailer/wholesaler shop out of China.

oh, and does anyone know if these will have the velcro strip on the inside to keep the flap that holds the tab in place from slipping out? I LOVED the Yoobao case for my iPad, except for the lack of this feature.
I looked a lot before I settled on the Yoobao case for my iPad and haven't seen a nicer case. Their N7 case looks like the same design which is great. The only thing about my iPad case is that it is a version 3 meaning it took 3 tries before they ironed out the issues. Version 3 of the iPad case corrected some issues with the smart on features as we'll as add magnets to hold the front flap in place.
I suspect that this N7 cover may not have the smart on/off feature yet and if they follow foot steps of the iPad they will probably produce a v.2 in short time with the smart on/off. At $30 plus, I'd wait til they produce one with the smart feature.

It's actually $30 with free shipping, so just flat $30. I think it's a much better deal than the official case which costs the same (if you add shipping).
I'm actually assuming that they've incorporated all the things that they learned from the various versions of the other cases and implemented them into the first version of their newer cases. I know that my Yoobao ipad case had the smart on/off but not the magnet to keep it closed. It didn't fling open though. The one feature it lacked was the thin velcro strip to keep the flap that kept the ipad in the case from slipping so it constantly needed readjusting. Did yours have this?
I just ordered one of these from mobile fun.co.uk

My Version 3 Yoobao iPad case did not have the velcro to hold down the flap, however, I never found the iPad moved around and needing adjustment.
Your assumption about Yoobao incorporating all the things they learned from other cases for the N7 case is sort of right. They actually already have a Revision 2 case for the N7 with a "fixed Sleep/Wake" and Magnetic Closure.
The review from mobile fun.co.uk seems to indicate the case puts the tablet asleep when folded all the way over. Waiting for reviews from here before I take the plunge.
I've just ordered this from the kevikev ebay store. It's cheaper to do that with shipping than to order here in UK. Here's hoping the version 2 has the magnet issue resolved. The case looks very nice.

Bluetooth Keyboard Tablet Stand Leather Case, anyone got one?

Just saw this leather case, bluetooth keyboard with stand combo (i saw the 5 or 9 dollar case with the usb cable and hated the look, don't mind spending a few bucks extra)
anyone got experience with this one?
http://www.amazon.com/CrazyOnDigita...f-20&qid=1344477981&sr=1-114&keywords=nexus+7
that image they have is real tiny online so i can't see the details but i am digging the red/white one
I just got mine this morning. Connecting is easy. But the keyboard (as I expected) is very small. If you have dainty girl like hands, you will be OK. It will take some getting used too. I've noticed the back stand that props up the monitor is pretty flimsy as well. A very slight wind can knock it over.
The case will most certainly protect the screen if you toss your tablet in a backpack or in your luggage. It's more sturdy than I anticipated in that regard.
Considering the cost is low, it's easy to overlook the minor flaws I've found so far. I'd give it 4 of 5 stars.
Can you post a pic when u have a chance I want to buy one but prefer to see the actual thing than to base it on the stock photos thanks

Finally! A Waterproof Case for the Note 2!

I kayak fish a lot, and I've started participating in tournaments which use a phone app for submitting a measuring board photo of your fish. So I've been using a dry bag style "case" for a while, but it's cumbersome and doesn't really protect the phone very well from impacts, which can easily happen in a kayak. Anyway, someone finally made a LifeProof-ish/Obex-ish case for the Note 2:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NTXWR2E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought one and will post how well it works.
It has loop for you to attach a lanyard or strap -- I'll probably put one of the floating Pentax wrist straps that I have for my GoPros on it. Because the most waterproofed phone in the world isn't going to do you any good when it's lost at the bottom of the ocean.
I've been a long-time buyer of Seidio cases, but was VERY disappointed when they didn't make an Obex case for the Note 2 ("because of the S-pen"), but then made one for the Note 3. :silly:
Where's the review
Oops! Sorry! Thanks for the remind!
The case works PERFECTLY! Can't emphasize that enough. It's really easy to install it and use it, the touchscreen works very well, no leaks, the ports are relatively easy to access while also doing a great job of keeping water out. I've used it twice now fishing from a kayak, and it's really protected the phone well, while allowing full use of the camera as well as all other phone functions. Several people posted reviews on Amazon that the microphone doesn't work well, but I highly suspect that's because they don't have it lined up properly in the case because it works perfectly for me.
Just FYI, this is actually a "Redpepper" branded case rather than "EasyLife". If you Google "Redpepper Note 2" you may be able to find it for even cheaper than it is on Amazon.com. I'm not sweating it, though. The price I got on Amazon was already a fraction of a LifeProof case, and this is the only waterproof case I've found for our Note 2, anyway, so I don't mind rewarding them with a little extra just for that.
Here it is for less than half the price in case anyone else wants this case.

Just FYI, there's feedback on that specific seller for it taking over two months to receive the case. There are several other sellers who are also close to that price, though. Good luck.
