after reading a lot about how to get in the download mode of the GT-I9001, its still not working as it should.
i used the programme odin multi downloader. i followed every step, which is at the bottom of the message.
so I did everything except when I put my phone in download mode the programme doesnt regognise the phone.
I dont know what I can do next. The only way when the programme regonises my phone if its in the ramdump mode.
Anybody can help me?
1. Download the WORKED2.rar package (mirror 1, mirror 2);
2. Download Odin Multi Downloader version 4.43;
3. After expanding the WORKED2.rar archive, press the OPS button and select the AriesVE.ops file from the uncompressed archive;
4. Mark the One Package option, press the One Package button on the bottom of the window and select the recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.0-ariesve.tar.md5 file;
5. Put your device in Download Mode by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power and plug it to your PC;
Make sure to have installed the correct drivers and the phone should be recognised by Odin (the top left rectangle becomes yellow) and press the Start button.

Help with /efs problem

Ok, so I was updating my phone to froyo according to these instructions by Virnik0 (meh, it seems I can't use links in my posts), but the name of the topic is "[HOWTO] manually flash Samsung Galaxy S with JPM firmware ** WORKS **" And you can find it from these forums.
Everything went fine. I successfully updated my phone to froyo, but I didn't root my phone or install lagfix even though the person gives instructions on how to do so, instead I just jumped into this part. This is a quote from the instructions.
GUI Medthod:
Download Android Mate from the Market
- Open the Android Mate, and switch to File Explorer bookmark at the top
- navigate to the /efs folder
- by ticking, select nv_data.bin, and from the bottom menu, choose copy.
- navigate to your sdcard directory (/sdcard for internal SD, or /sdcard/external_sd for external SD, does not matter)
- press Paste from the bottom menu.
- Connect you're SGS to the usb and download ''nv_data.bin'' to your computer
- Open ''nv_data.bin'' with notepad or wordpad and search for ''KOR'' change this to the product code matching your country
Click to collapse
Now after I have downloaded "Android Mate" and navigated to the /efs folder to my surprise I find that it's empty and doesn't have such file named "n_data.bin" or any other files for that matter.
What does this mean and how do I get such files there?
After searching forums I found out that you should take backup from those files in /efs, but that was not mentioned in the instructions I was following
Edit: This is what I did before I jumped into the part I have quoted above.
1] Download both I9000XXJPK and I9000XXJPM firmwares
2] Download Odin 1.3
3] Download 803 pit file
4] Startup Odin.
5] Extract I9000XXJPK and I9000XXJPM tar files which you have downloaded to separate folders.
6] Then in Odin: (Now we will flash JPK firmware)
a) Click PIT Button, select s1_odin_20100803.pit file
b) Click PDA Button, select I9000XXJPK-REV03-PDA-low-CL584433.tar.md5 file
c) Click PHONE Button, select MODEM_I9000XXJPK.tar.md5 file
d) Click CSC Button, select GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPK.tar.md5
e) Tick Re-Partition Button
f) Power off your phone and make sure you have SIM card out, SD card out.
g) Press and hold 3-button combo, to boot your phone in Download mode (Volume down, Menu, Power)
h) Once in Download mode, connect your phone to your PC via USB cable
i) In odin, ID:COM field shall change color to yellow, and in Message window, you will see message "Added"
j) Now press Start button.
k) Go and take cigarette, coffee, etc. This will take up to 15 minutes.
7] After successfull flash, phone will reboot itself, and Odin will write Success message. First boot can take another 10 minutes, so be patient during stare at glowing S logo on the screen.
8] If phone stays in text console (Recovery Mode) after reboot, writing (with red), that it is having problem with internal SD Card, do not panic, it will take another minute:
a) Just use Volume Down/Up to up or down movement and selection.
b) Select "Wipe cache partition" and press Home
c) Select "Format internal sd card" and press Home
d) Select "Wipe data / Factory reset" and press Home
e) Select "Reboot" and press Home
9] Get back to point 7]
10] Power off your phone again, press button combo for Download mode again.
11] Close Odin, start it again. It shall detect ID:COM port again.
12] Now press PDA, choose JPM_JPM_U_JPM.tar file (finally, JPM firmware).
13] Make sure Re-partition tick box is unticked.
14] Press Start
15] After reboot, you will have newest Froyo firmware available.

Hi,
Here's the procedure:
Install any working fw with odin (stock).
Download attached file and extract it.
Install clockworkmod-jena.5.2.0.8.tar.md5 with Odin and wait until phone reboots.
Copy Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip to sdcard/internal storage if you don't have sdcard.
Turn off the phone, press vol up + vol down + home key + power until device powers on. It will enter CWM recovery.
Apply Superuser zip and reboot phone..... It's rooted
EDIT: For adb drivers, install Kies.

USB Debugging is enabled? The DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT_zergRush_busybox_su must be usb debugging enable!
Try flash first official rom with Odin!

No, maybe I wrote pure description.
Here it goes again....
When you're on stock rom, with Odin you flash cwm recovery by selecting PDA in odin, select .md5 file of cwm and flash.
After that CWM is installed. Wait until phone boots up and copy Superuser zip to external sdcard of your phone or internal memory.
Switch off your phone and power it on going to recovery (volume up + volume down + home button + power). When in CWM just flash Superuser zip and reboot your device.
well there is other problem now
all i was missing was the ADB divers
i got them with Kies and rooted fine and super user was installed auto by the .bat file
i was trying an app that change the screen resolution
now its all messed up and when i boot the phone i can only Hear the logo but cant see it and the phone keeps vibrating couple of times
how do i reset everything??

Quicky. installing latest kernel guide

Hi,
Sorry, I know this has been covered loads before but im still a little confused on the method.
Im running a great custom rom on my SGA called MindCR. I would like to be able to flash an updated custom kernel.
Im attempting to flash Rafael.Baugis. E3 Stable.
Code:
How to install Kernel with E3 Recovery (Stock):
shutdown the phone
hold the keys Vol-Up + Home + Power per 6 seconds
select the option "apply update from sdcard"
select the file ( xxxxxxxxxxxx-XXX-boot.img.zip )
wait the end of process and reboot
hold the keys Vol-Up + Home + Power per 6 seconds
select the option "apply update from sdcard"
select the file ( Select_you_rom_file.zip )
wait the end of process
select the option "apply update from sdcard"
select the file ( xxxxxxxxxxxx-modules.zip )
wait the end of process and reboot
Do I download stock-kernel.tar ? and from the stock recovery, apply update from sdcard, choose stock-kernel?
Do I need to wipe cache afterwards?
Sorry this is so easy for most, but to me those instructions are confusing!
many thanks for your help xda
(ps,. i would of posted this in the dev section but i don't have enough posts)

A: .tar files are to be flashed in Odin
- on the phone go to download mode: keep the [+] and [-] pressed while you power on, when the menu pops out, press [+] again
- on the pc launch Odin, connect the phone with the usb cable, it should lite up a COM-x port if drivers are installed (Rafael provides those too)
- in Odin, press the PIT button, select the cooperve_0623.pit file, press the PDA button, select the 2012***E3-PDA-boot.tar file, uncheck Re-Partition. Start!
B: .zip files are to be flashed in recovery mode, no need for PC
- move the zip file to the sd card
- go to recovery mode: keep the [+] and [Home] pressed while u power on for around 8seconds, a recovery menu will pop out soon after. if it reboots you've kept the 3 buttons pressed too much time, try again.
- select browse for zip file. choose 2012***E3-boot.zip. flash it. choose 2012***E3-modules.zip. flash it. Reboot. No need to wipe anything.
Everything should be clear from Rafael's kernel post, link to files is <<< Custom Kernel and Modules >>> and you can navigate outside the default skydrive folder to find stuff like windows driver and etc.
you can navigate there upper so you will find also driver files etc.

[Q] [Need Help] Can't boot???

Hi all
Now,I'm using Note 3 AT&T (N900A). When I am using Odin to go to Recovery, then press Fail Odin, then I can not turn it on. Now, I can not use any buttons on the machine. When I press the Power button, the machine does not vibrate. The screen is dark. Anyone can help me? Thanks so much!!
P/s: sorry about my English.
Follow instructions word for word, take your time and go slow
1.Download the (alreadykitkat.zip) if you haven't done so yet.
2. Extract it to somewhere on your desktop or PC
3.Copy “Safestrap-Custom.apk” to your phones internal memory, and install it. Make sure you install recovery from within safestrap app, or verify that it is installed
4.Next copy the rom to your phones internal memory(it’s called XNote Port.zip)
5.Boot into download mode (power off, then hold-Volume down, Home and power button at same time
6.Open the “Togetsafestrap” folder and open Odin (win 7 and 8 users may need to run with administrator rights). Add the correct partition Files,
Make sure the files or AP_N900AUCUBMJ5.tar.md5 and BL_N900AUCUBMJ5.tar.md5 and verify your Odin window looks like this picture
7.Click start. Now when the phone is booting up make sure to click “recovery” on the safestrap screen.
(If you missed it just hold down, power button until phone reboots)
8. You can wipe before flashing (Optional) if you want a clean install. Flash the X-Note Port.zip to Stock slot,
But don’t reboot when done,
9. Keep hitting the back button until you see the reboot menu button
Press reboot menu button and select download mode button. Or if you messed up and rebooted just Press Volume down, Home and power button at same time until your back in download mode.
10. Now open the folder “togetbooting” and open Odin. Select the correct partition Files, Make sure you select AP_N900AUCECMGL.tar and BL_N900AUCECMGL.tar and verify your Odin window looks like this picture

[Q] USB and SD Card storage unavailable, upper bar not showing up. etc.

I have a big problem with my Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 GT-S6500D. My SD Card and USB storage is not loading up. If I try to open my files or gallery or listen to music it tells me there is not card inserted. When I go see the amount of storage used, It says 0,00B/0,00B for both USB and SD Card. Also, the upper part of the screen where it's suppose to give me notifications and battery stats and time is missing. As well as my Wi-Fi won't turn on, when I try to it gives me an error. I can't plug it onto my computer.I tried a few ways of fixing but to no avail. Anyone know how to fix this, people if it's possible not to lose my memory?

install samsung drivers and
Download firmware from the above list
and extract the zip file, you should get
.tar.md5 file along with few other files.
2. Download Odin v3.09 and extract the zip
file, you should get Odin v3.09.exe file
along with other files.
3. Now Open/Run Odin v3.09.exe file as an
administrator (to open program with

is applicable only on Windows Vista,

successfully detected by Odin. (If not, then
try connecting through another USB port.
If you are using desktop PC, use USB port
located at the back of the CPU. If still
don’t work, then you should reinstall the
USB driver and try again)
7. Make sure that, only the “Auto Reboot”
and “F. Reset Time” options are checked
in Odin screen.
8. Now, click on the AP button and select
the .tar.md5 file that you get by
extracting the firmware zip file in step 1.

the installation process, and wait few
moments.
10. Once completed, you would see “PASS!”
message in ID:COM port having green
background
11. Your phone should automatically reboot
after completion
12. You can now disconnect/unplug your
phone from computer
Done it all, just one thing, when I completed it, it showed me RESET with blue background.................... After which, later when my phone loaded it turned into PASS.
