hello all
i've had my phone since april and it's never disappointed me. i think everything works great on this phone and have had no problems
but recently the only way i can check me email is by going into the native email app itself and refreshing it.. same goes for gmail app and htc weather.. i've checked all the settings and there all set to push even when not at peak time but still doesn't make a difference.
could an app i've installed perhaps messed with the settings? is anyone else having 'syncing' problems and knows a solution?
please help if possible
had a look on google and doesn't seem to be a resolution (that i could find, anyway..)

Have you made sure that you have auto sync on? Go into sync & accounts and make sure that the accounts are set to sync

This annoyed me back when I have a Nexus 4, and I assumed it was the Nexus, or android 4.2.2 but it occurs on the Gmail app in android 4.1.2 as well.
If you test the gmail app, by sending emails to gmail account, and waiting for it to notify you of the emails, it'll take an age, unless you go into the app and update it manually.
I have auto sync on and all my accounts are set to sync, it even shows that it syncs the gmail account regularly, but the app just doesn't push the mail to you.
Not sure what can be done about it, but simple tests will show it happens regardless of auto sync settings. I am considering using the Email app and pulling mail every 15 minutes.
I have the exact same problem, it seems to me it only occurs with Sense-apps, for me it was the mail first, then I noticed the weather as well so I checked Blinkfeed and all have the same behavior, they won't update automatically. On my homescreen the date and weather is still the one from yesterday.. Quite upsetting. Surely you can use 3rd party apps for all this if you depend on that updating by itself or you could do it manually, but it's still very much an issue for me so I've written to HTC yesterday, curious if they can help with this.
Ah thankyou for the suggestions all! So I had a fiddle round with everything, went into the Gmail app turned auto sync on.. But also realised I have the Trust Security app and it was measuring my data. I turned that off and ta da.. My push is working again! Anyway got a better suggestion for a security app!? Haha.
Honestly love this phone and HTC seem really great to me so far! So hope they reply to you.

I was wondering, if anyone else has experienced this.
I use the HTC Calendar Agenda widget on one of my home screens, and sometimes it seems to never load entires. The calendar also does this at this the same time. The loading icon appears, but not entries ever appear. Anyone else got this problem?

I have had this problem aswell. I noticed a few times that it done it when the sync icon was displayed.
Will monitor this to see if it only happens when the handset is syncing.
Just seen my handset starting to sync again so i opened the Calendar and it has stopped at the Loading... screen again. So looks like it is waiting for the sync to finish before showing the agenda.
Is this the same with your handset?
Ok sync now finished. As soon as it finished the agenda displayed instantly.
I will need to check if it only happens when the phone is syncing or not. Thanks for the info though.
Hey guys, I will see if I can replicate and fix this problem. I can think of a few reasons it might happen so hopefully I can squeeze a fix into the next release.

I am confused. The next release of what exactly?
I am simply using the HTC Agenda widget, so I don't see how you can fix it?

I think it is still a bug in AAW so I will try and fix it anyways

i had this problem too, i deleted the calenda data and let it redownload events from gmail and now its is fine

I think the way to do it would be to goto your Account & Sync options and remove and re-add your google account.
Unless there is another way

actually the way i did it was go into settings, applications, find the calendar and select clear data
then just wait till it syncs to gmail and downloads all your events again

Just to update, i done this and all seems to be working fine for now.
My Facebook birthdays and events disappeared also and wouldn't come back, so i cleared my Facebook for HTC Sense data also and went through the setup wizard for Facebook again. After sync they all appeared again fine.
So far calendar is running smooth. Fingers crossed it continues.
I am on firefly 2.1, speedmod k13a. Google voice is 0.4.2.13. Just recently, my phone has stopped syncing with my gmail accounts (2) and my google voice app. Synchronize inbox and inbox notification checked in voice. Background data and auto sync enabled in system.
I first noticed thus when I had to manually refresh my voice app to see new messages. Then I realized that my gmail was not receiving notifications for new emails.
Things I have tried: reinstalled voice, flashed firefly 2.1 again after master clear, sign out of voice and clear cache (this one worked for a while, but eventually lost sync again, and restarted the phone (also worked in the beginning, but eventually lost sync).
I'm not sure what to do since email and texting are the two main things I use my phone for besides internet. I need to fix this problem, but not sure how.

just flashed serendipity 5.12 and i am not getting gmail push notifications, have to manually refresh to fetch emails

Ya know.. now that you mention it... I don't think I'm getting push notifications anymore either .. and I'm on Andromeda ... gonna have to test it tomorrow.

I was having a similar issue on multiple roms. The solution I have found is to drop the Gvoice widget onto one of my home screens. When it's there, I get everything right away, possibly because it forces the phone to keep the data connection open full time?
Although...the other day, I was getting them slow on my computer too, I think google was having some issues.

Yeah i tested today and i seem to be getting push just fine. Was reading online that google did happen to have a snag with there servers, resetting 100,000+ email accounts. That might have had something to do with it.
Anyone else having this issue?
When I first setup my phone I enabled auto sync for gmail. It was working fine up until a few days ago when I realized I was not getting my emails. I have to go in an manually refresh to get any emails. Anyone have a fix for this?
I am a total noob to this forum (yes I watched the video), and have not been able to find a thread addressing this. I found a few posted last year about similar problems on other devices, but none for the Droid 3. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Go to the home screen, click the menu button, click Settings, click Accounts, click your Gmail account, make sure Gmail is checked. The Phantom of Android sometimes unchecks things on it's own, don't ask me why, but see if this helps.

Thanks for the response. I tried that, but I still have to manually sync to get my emails. I tried unchecking and rechecking every option for sync and nothing seems to work. Do you think it has anything to do with maildroid? I also use maildroid for my business email, and was wandering if that could possibly interfere with gmail? This is very frustrating.

If you want to configure it for google mail, just use this setting, rather then auto.
Add account , type [email protected] n pw
- select manual setting
- Microsoft active sync
- keep ID n PW field as it is in server field type, m.google.com
in next screen you will see push setting, select accroding your need

Thanks, but push is configured, it's just not working very well. It's slow and buggy. F.e. my phone just rang like it got an email but there wasn't one...also the status bar isn't updating properly. Worked much better on my HTC Desire overall. Is something wrong with my Note or is it just crappy samsung software?

I had trouble with the Gmail app, started about a week ago. It would not push mail. I had to manually refresh. Without a refresh, mail would arrive but very late.
I was considering a wipe, when all problems just went away. Last 2 days everything OK again. Maybe it was Gmail having trouble?
I am using the simple email app included, Gmail is disabled. Using arhd 10.1 but this problem was here long before with original stock.
I guess I have already tried all possible combinations to have the mail sync, maybe someone else has an idea on how this works if at all.
In settings I tried the smart sync, then each number of minutes, whatever I put in there, the only way to have the mail query the server is to manually open the application. For instance, I send myself an email from desktop, my ipad picks it up in a matter of seconds, I mean the fu$#er is in sleep mode, cover on, then I almost instantly hear that notification sound. The One however, I could wait all day, no sign it knows about it.
I have 2 email accounts configured, yahoo and Gmail, I also tried to add one at a time, nothing seems to help.
Thanks for any idea on how to make it work or any suggestions on a third party app?

Smartsync takes time to build a database of data about your usage and when to check for email. For Gmail the best bet is the Gmail app, which will get almost instant push notifications.

I'd rather be using only one app for my email accounts - - the stock mail for instance.
It's just that no sync mode seems to work, be it smart or not

like the guy said above. smart sync needs to build a repour before it will know when to check. its not having information pushed to it like the gmail app is. your best bet is to use the 2 separate apps since each individual app has the ability to push emails immediately while HTC's smart sync or manual sync is just basically timed sync-ing. its just that smart sync is timed to how the phone learns your usage?

Okay, I think the problem might be elsewhere: the k9,same as mail doesn't seem to sync either. I have tried this over wifi and data, in power settings the sleep mode is disabled, I even disabled power saver.
Does email synchronization works for anyone excepting gmail users?
I am going to enable gmail, see how that behaves with sync..

Manual mode as in your in the mail app and request it to refresh? And the email still doesn't come through? Not sure then.. I used smart sync for a while then I found it to not update fast enough for my needs. But it did always work.

The mail app syncs over wifi, I found out. Yes, it took a while (set it up to check at 5 minutes.). However, it still doesn't work when screen is off.
While on data only, the whole sync is very conservative. Unless I open up myself the mail thing it doesn't bother to refresh. In fact, the only thing synchronizing over data is weather from BW widget, but even then I am afraid it only refreshes itself when opening the screen. Ah, and Google play, I get notifications over mobile data as well.
I mean I used to want this conservative data behavior when on 100mb data plan, however now I have 3gb to spend and having trouble with email notifications?
I suspect there might be a misbehaving app will try reinstalling everything and one app at a time..
