[tar.md5] MF9 boot loaders chain, modem, tz, rpm - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development

THIS IS THE FULL BOOTLOADER, MODEM, RPM, AND TZ UPDATE.
this contains the NON-HLOS.bin modem.bin sbl2.mbn tz.mbn aboot.mbn rpm.mbn sbl3.mbn
It is recommended for CM to update the entire images images, we constantly update kernel so it is recommended to not fall behind on not updating full images.
this is an extension unknownforce tar.
in odin, check update phone bootloader and put it in pda

When I went to Odin this my PhoneBootloader Update box was greyed out.
So, in order to update the bootloader we need to edit the .ini file that's in the Odin 3.07 folder.
Open the .ini with Notepad and change the line below
PhoneBootUpdate=0k
Change to.
PhoneBootUpdate=1
Save the file and start Odin. The box will still be greyed out but it will be checked.
Proceed with the update.
Once you are finished with the bootloader update it is recommended to revert the changes that you have made to the .ini

No i meant MF9....can you move apps to the SD card from appliaction manager...i can not....

i just flashed this over freegs4 rom.. im on MF9 but build number is still MDL.. Whats not in this tar file?? i still cant move anything to my sd?? so what does thid file update?? modem?

Maybe i am doing something wrong or maybe its because i am running FreeGS4 but none of the few things that changed with the MF9 update are availabe....like the smart pause button in setting, add apps to sd card, and the legabilty option.....is it cause i am on a rom based on MDL...will this change when my rom gets updated?

My build number just says FreeGS4 v2.0.....My baseband and Software version both say MF9 but i cant move anything to the SD card and im thinking/hoping its only cause our Rom hasnt been updated...can someone confirm or deny this? That once our rom gets updated we will have full function of MF9

This cannot be the "full upgrade". At 30MB how can that be compressed from 360mb download OTA. I believe this is just the modem and kernel.

Im starting to get the same feeling...think im gonna try the other method but i cant get stock MDL to download

People, it's the full firmware, not the operating system. Normally, we just update the modem and other small bits, but this includes the bootloader and other smaller partitions that get overlooked if you only flash the updated OS through a zip. If you took the OTA as it was pushed to your device, you do not need this.

THIS IS THE FULL BOOTLOADER, MODEM, RPM, AND TZ UPDATE.
No android operating system files

Thank you. Worked great.

I must be doing something wrong. I edited the .ini to allow bootloader update. Put in PDA slot and hit start. It passes after ~16 secs then reboots and nothing is changed. Baseband is still MDL. Anyone know what I'm missing? I'm using Odin v3.07 and have tried different ports/comps.
Also on FreeGS4 with TWRP 2.6.0.0.
EDIT: Fixed by turning device off then booting into Download Mode instead of rebooting to download mode.

After downloading the 3.07 odin version, I edited the configuration settings for the program to check "bootloader update".
I select PDA and go to find the mf9fullupdate.tar.md5 on my desktop, and the program can't find it; I'm slightly stuck now.
EDIT: After ten seconds of posting this, I realized that I had to unzip the file xP
Got it!!
AND WORKS PERFECTLY! Thank you for this!

Great job.
This worked fine. Just a note to all. Once you get it started please wait for it to finish. It takes about a little over 2 minutes to get done. Once it's OK in the odin window. You will need to disconnect the phone and either pull the battery or hold the power button down till it turns off. Once that is off you can then turn it back on and it should be updated.
I love this. :victory:

[How-To] Root G900AUCU2ANG3

**Make certain that your reactivation lock in security settings is off before beginning this process**
1. Take the NG3 OTA update.
2. Download and install Towelroot-v3.apk(this version does not require internet access).
3. Place your phone into "Download Mode" (press and hold the Home, Volume Down, and Power keys until the phone powers on and displays warning screen, then press Volume Up key) and flash the G900A_ND3_Stock_Kernel using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
4. Open the Towelroot app from your app drawer and press "Make it Rain" to root your device.
5. Power off then boot into "Download Mode" again and flash the G900A_NG3_Stock_Kernel also using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
6. Install SuperSU to manage root access. Done!
Notes:
1. After flashing the ND3 kernel your phone may run a little wonky and towelroot may not root on the first try. If that happens reboot and try towelroot once again. Once rooted and after flashing the NG3 kernel your phone will once again run like a champ!
2. Following the above process will not affect your User Data or Knox Warranty Flag.
3. Should the NG3 ota update fail consider returning to stock NCE by flashing the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+) then taking the NG3 OTA update (or place the G900A_NCEtoNG3_OTA.zip onto your ext-sdcard and sideload from stock recovery). Once updated to NG3 continue from Step 2 above.
Alternative Method for Safestrap Users:
1. Place the G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip onto your ext-sdcard.
2. Use Safestrap's Backup Function to back-up User Data.
3. From the Safestrap recovery perform an "Advanced Wipe" and wipe everything but your ext-sdcard.
4. Flash the G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip using Safestrap's "Stock Slot."
5. Then press "Home" then "Restore" and restore User Data.
6. Once complete press "Home" then "Reboot" and reboot into "Download" mode.
7. Last, flash the G900A_NG3_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5 using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
Notes:
1. The G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip process will update your Modem, Non-hlos, System, Kernel, and Stock Recovery to NG3 but does not include the NG3 Bootloader.

No. I ODIN back to NCE, no root. Then I rerun update from About/software update. It does download 162MB file, then boot into AT&T logo. It will update until 30% and reboot, then the firmware is still NCE.
I am starting to think the file that people download from NCE is actually the same as those with ND3. However the file expects ND3 so it won't install (hence I get the error both with running the app and install in recovery). Notice all those people saying update fail in another thread?

The NCE Odin .tar that you flashed does not contain the non-hlos.bin. The non-hlos.bin is in the BL file in that set of .tars which the OP tells you not to flash. Likely beacuse if you are on the ND3 bootloader your wifi may go out or your phone may run wonky if you flash the NCE non-hlos.bin.
Here is the NCE modem pkg including non-hlos.bin. Flash in PDA or AP slot in Odin: G900A_NCE_Stock_Modem
Just go into stock recovery after flashing and re-sideload the NG3 OTA. I will put together an All-in-One_NCE_Odin.tar with the non-hlos so that other won't run into this issue. Someone will have to test.

[Q] I9305 4.4.4 to 4.1.1 downgrade with Knox bootloader

I would be very grateful for some assistance with this, after trying many firmwares with Odin (most now blocked because of Knox bootloader), custom recovery etc. etc.
Basically I want to downgrade my I9305 from 4.4.4 to 4.1.1 so that I can use the 'trick' for SIM unlocking the device. This is after finding out that GalaxSim Unlock can't be used with this device, which I tried after rooting under 4.4.4.
I have a 4.1.1 firmware on the way which I can flash with Odin, but I'm conscious that each time I do this since upgrading to 4.3/4.4.4 the Knox bootloader comes up with 'Unsupported version'.
Is it possible for me to copy the boot.img file from the 4.4.4 firmware package and replace the boot.img file in the 4.1.1 package? Will that work? I don't really understand the ins and outs of this yet and it's getting very frustrating when I can't find any answers on Google to these specific questions.
If the above doesn't work, what option do I have to downgrade to stock 4.1.1?
Many thanks for your help.

Thank you so much for this; I got excited that it might finally be a solution but alas, when I try to install the ROM in CWM recovery (6.0.4.7) I get the following message:
format() expects 5 args, got 4
E:Error in /data/media/0/stock411.zip (I renamed it and copied it again to internal phone storage in case it was a bad transfer to ext SD card previously)
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
A quick search suggests a bad download perhaps? Will try again in 5m (when the re-download completes) but if that fails I'm back to square one.
Do you think it'd be possible to flash another stock firmware in this manner? If you flash from CWM does it never affect the bootloader/Knox? Or is this error message coming from a Knox-type block, do you think?
Thanks for your input.
Update
Late last night I somehow managed to flash a stock 4.1.1 ROM from a rather messed up 4.4.4 (following CWM recovery backup restore [apps were 'stopping' left right and centre making the phone unusable, even after wiping cache and delvik cache]). This enabled me to do the dialler trick and remove the SIM lock.
Today I've tried 3 different 4.1.2 ROMs and all fail with SW Rev. Invalid Magic String (or something similar) using Odin. After the first failed attempt I thought ok, I'll go back to 4.1.1; however when I tried this the phone got stuck on the first Samsung I9305 boot screen and, oddly, I couldn't get into recovery mode - the only option was download mode. I resolved this by flashing 4.3 (which fails with Device 3, Binary 2 or some such message. After that failure though, flashing 4.1.1 works and got my phone back to where it was before.
This is all rather confusing but I assume the 4.1.1 ROM doesn't come with recovery/boot images and requires these from a failed 4.3 flash, or something like that.
Anyway, I guess the upshot is: there's a specific 4.1.1 ROM out there for I9305 which works through Odin despite Knox bootloader being installed on your phone. It's on TSAR3000.com (I can't post links yet 'cause I'm new, but you can find it through Google if you look hard enough).
Any feedback on the above behaviour encountered during my first foray into the land of rooting, flashing and SIM unlocking that may help me/others understand what's actually going on behind the scenes would be much appreciated!
Thanks.

Downgrade is very easy. Extract that tar and then select all files except sboot.bin because sboot is the bootloader which causes downgrade fail then compress them into tar agin using 7zip then flash. First do all this with 4.1.2 firmware then you will be able to downgrade to 4.1.1☺

Now select all files except sboot.bin and compress into tar file by using green + button or left click options and the flash with odin google it how to flash with odin there many detailed guides available.
And I don't know that sboot.bin is in 4.1.1 firmware you can check by extracting that tar of 4.1.1 as you done with 4.4 file if any sboot.bin is there remove it and compress all remaining fies into tar again and flash.

Anybody help?

Thank you very much for your help installing custom 4.1.1. from 4.4.4. and then sim unlock !!!!!
The method works very fine for official 4.4.4 i9305 phone !
Thanks a lot to spanish guys, I used their 4.1.1. custom rom.
I struggled long time with this sim unlock problem as I was with UK EE network.
Now my phone is free !
Stuck at Samsung logo after flashing 4.1.1 on
I cant get past the samsung logo after flashing the following file:

found on this thread by lyriquidperfection following qasim's suggestion to remove sboot.bin on top of I9305XXUFNI3_I9305DBTFNI3_DBT.zip which is a 4.4.4 stock rom. I have unzipped the tar file, removed sboot.bin, rezipped with 7zip as tar, then used ihsas's script to convert that to tar.md5 and flashed with odin, and stuck at the white logo screen. What is wrong here i am doing? I also need to unlock my carrier

EDIT: Anyway, also if you put the modem on AP (or PDA on v3.07), the modem flash correctly (tested by doing it as a mistake!!)... For your information, when a new rom is released, I always unpack the firmware to clean the package from recovery image (this to avoid to reflash TWRP), so I can prepare easyly and fastly the modem and bootloader tar.md5 files... if you need, ask me and I'll provide them... I prepare always tar.md5 that has self-checksum control when opened on Odin

What version do you use of Odin?
I suggest to use the v3.07, not the last one v3.09... In my dev teams, we tested and seems that older one is more stable than the last... here the link for v3.07 (in case someone need): https://mega.co.nz/#!pVwUEaqK!QWtWKBNrBklhmVDY1hOjJGC8nr6GEjy4qEVvhTbDrRs

Thank you for your reply. I tried 3.04, 3.07 and 3.09 all with the same result. It flashed, said "passed" but Baseband didn't change. I found out that I lost root somehow (maybe through the last update of the ROM?). I re-rooted and then I could flash the modem with V3.04. Thank you so much!

Weird, after I did the whole reroot thing, I installed the latest CM12 nighty, had random reboots like many others I found out later. Root still worked. So I did a factory reset, flashed an old version (from 22nd) and lost root again. Never mind, thank you again!

put the extracted firmware files into c:\odin
delete hidden.img and cache.img
then the command in cygwin to change to that directory would be
cd /cydrive/c/odin
then enter the re-tar command as described in my guide and flash the n910f.tar file with odin! this will work 100%!

Ok finally got through the change directory, created the tar as described and flashed it with Odin. Stuck in bootloop. Tried installing twrp recovery, either failed with odin or when trying to boot into recovery it automatically went into download mode.
Flashed my regions stock rom through kies emergency recovery. Boots up fine, works fine. Next flashed the 5.1.1 Tar image. Same problem, endless booting sequence (gets up to home page and then reboots).
Anyone have some suggestions?

"No OS installed" T-Mobile Note 4

Hey everyone,
I hope I posted this in the proper area. I've run into a problem with my Note 4. I wiped it and now if I try to reboot from TWRP, it says theres no OS installed. If I do reboot, it gets stuck on the samsung Note 4 screen.
I need to get this up and running asap. Could someone please help?
I have TWRP 2.8.7.0 installed and I have Odin 3.09 on my desktop. I would really appreciate detailed instructions and download links to anything else I may need so that I can get my Note 4 up and running again.
Thank you.

That's my problem. I haven't been able to find any rom for Note 4. Last I remember, there wasn't anything on sammobiles for Note 4. Would love a stock firmware right now so I can flash it.

just tried to flash it and I got a fail. I followed the instructions exactly but it failed.

Nothing unfortunately. Just to be sure I did it right ... I downloaded the kernel zip file in that thread. Transferred it to my sd card, loaded it back onto my phone, went into twrp, hit install, found the zip file and installed it. a few seconds later, it was done. I rebooted. It went to the logo screen again and then it back to TWRP. IDK what to do anymore

So, the COD6 seems to be damaged or something. I couldn't use it. And the ANK4 I already had and still getting a fail.
It's been a long time since this occurred. IDK if this helps but when the phone was still up and running. For some unknown reason, I went to my app drawer and uninstalled/deleted Superuser. Could that be a reason why I'm having an issue flashing my Note 4 back to stock?
Could someone possible send me a backup file from a Note 4 so that I could restore my phone and then factory reset? Maybe that'll get my phone up and running.
YES!!! I fixed it!!! Why didn't anyone tell me that I couldn't flash a stock (kitkat) rom if I had previously updated to Lollipop or Marshmallow? Fortunately, while searching "write fail: aboot" a thread came up and someone mentioned it so I downloaded a marshmallow rom and that was it. I'm up and running now.
