Hi,
I have unlocked HTC First. I can't find network mode in First to enable 3g settings and it's not identifying default APN setting. Could anybody please suggest on where can i find Network mode option. I already checked in data setting and with power key but no use.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the late response. I do not have idea on hidden keys. I have configured my APN settings manually. Now 3G is working fine. But it's showing 4G symbol even though I'm using 3G plan.., any idea on this??
Thanks for your time

typically most gsm carriers support it sometimes on different bands usually just a part of a 3g plan

[q] help needed no 3g or mobile internet

After flashing to froyo i now have no 3g or mobile internet ,im on vodafone ireland and just wanted to know if anybody knows which csc to reflash to. Before anyone suggests i check my apn settings i already got them off vodafone sent to my phone but it still says in menu -about phone-status-mobile network state=disconnected.
Can anybody help cos at the mo i can only use wifi evev though i paid for a 2gb data allowance.
did you create the APN settings?
it doesn't get sent, it doesn't program itself automatically
you need to make it yourself
Yeah I got the settings as a configuration message and it installed the vodafone settings but it won't show the upload download arrows anymore.

here is one easy way to confirm if the settings work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8124344&postcount=45
install the APN on/off switch
then set it to ON, tried turning it off/on/off/on see if it works
you can also try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789039&highlight=*#0011#
it should show if you are connected or not to any of those bands
thanks for the help allgamer, im using sgs tools and im in phone info it says gprs service disconnected, so i press left soft key and get option to enable data connection but when i press it nothing happens?
p.s i tried the apn on off app and it did nothing
did you try this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789039&highlight=*#0011#
don't sgs tools you will get confused
make sure you have the APN settings configured
I Was just using sgs to access the secret codes, I tried that but mine is totally different.

what does it say, what information?
hi there. anyone successfully fixed this? for two days now I cannot get any 3g signal. it just stopped working at some point. thinking it must've been an app or something, i did a complete reflash of the XWJPA firmware. that unfortunately did not help at all.
apn is CORRECT, data network is enabled, no 3g....
edit: btw, this is on 3 network in reading, uk.
edit 2: disregard my post, the problem was the borked sim card. all is well now.

So 3G is activated.. long press power button, a menu will pop up with options. Under "data network mode", make sure it is "Activated" and not "Deactivated". After that, you can connect to 3G/2G data service
the data network mode is already activated. what else can i do?

I don't know how an unlocked phone works but I'd say download Phone Info from the market, open it, go to phone information, and set it to WCDMA Only for 3G, GSM Only for 2G, and LTE Only for 4G. Assuming you're on jellybean that is. If you're on ICS then search in either general or Q&A in the Atrix HD forums for a thread called build.prop and do the steps there.

I did exactly that before you replied. Works fine, saves battery. Thanks mate

Hi
If possible can you pls help me on this as I'm also facing the same issue with this device the method mentioned above doesnt seem to work on mine.
Thanks
Add APN or use app "Network"
I also wanted to shift to gsm network only to save battery.
I installed a app named "Network" by "Philipp Magelow" and changed the mode to "GSM Only" and later added a APN(which was not added by default)
Now I could access Edge data, which is sufficient for daily apps.

Fix for losing LTE

After trying searching today countless apps and signal booster apps i finally found one that worked. I tried Viaero Toggle app from the play store and now have a constant 4g signal. I have tested 2 methods on the app. Tried a method setting my preferred network to just LTE and CDMA/LTE. Setting it to just LTE works except you have an X over your signal bars, CDMA/LTE doesnt.
1. Download the Viaero toggle app
2. Select phone information
3. Scroll down where it says preferred network
4. Select LTE or LTE/CDMA
This is for people who KNOW their supposed to have an LTE connection. I used to own a GS3 and had a constant LTE signal. Switching to the ONE my LTE constantly jumps from LTE to 3G which was my biggest gripe. Now I'm in love with my ONE all over again. So if you know you have this issue. This will help trust me.
Let me know your results. I really want to work for everyone because this has been pissing me off for the longest. I had even switched out for a second HTC one and they both had signal issues. If it doesnt help let me know and we can try other methods for different people.
The 2 pics i attached is one with just LTE and the other is LTE/CDMA
You know that X over the signal bars mean you no longer have a voice connection right? Kind of defeats the purpose of a phone

The better way of doing this would be to use the ##DATA# shortcut (provided you have your MSL), but you certainly can do this.

If you just want to use WiFi tether purposes. You can. That's also why I gave the cdma/ltd option as well.

Thanks for the shortcut since I keep forgetting it. I just gave it a try. I was able to switch to CDMA LTE only and my LTE switched back on from 3G almost instantly. Sweet! Looks like I'll be using this feature quite often.

I got nothin'
Neither the App nor the menu has provided 4G / LTE. Funny thing is that on 4.3 ROM's I don't get LTE, but 4.2 and lower it's a non-issue. Any ideas?
Funny thing is I have no APN's. When I try to manually add them they don't save.

I normally set it to WCDMA only but after a while it automatically switches to WCDMA preferred which results in a loss of data and the Roaming symbol. Any way i can set it permanently to WCDMA only? I'm in India btw...

Who uses their phone for talking? What is this 2005?
Yup, i set it to WCDMA only but for some weird reason it switches back to WCDMA preferred after a while. I do it using the same method you've described.
If I set my phone to lte cdma it goes to gsm as my days connection. Am I missing something here? Thanks

The forum you're posting in right now is the Sprint HTC One M7 forum. You have the M8, therefore go to the Sprint HTC One M8 forum.
With the 4636 menu what setting should I be choosing to stay in 4G? I'm in Chicago and I have terrible 4G to 3G handoffs all the time.

I would like my phone to be connected to 3g all the time in order to save battery... Is there any way to do this? Changing to gsm, CDMA in network settings still gives me hspa.
Thnx

HSPA is still 3G. If you want you can select to use GSM only and you will only get EDGE connectivity.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* , go to phone information, and there's a dropdown which by default says WCDMA preferred. Switch that to whatever else you need. Also, remember that this setting does not stick after reboot so you need to reset it to your preference each time after you reboot your phone.
Misread, sorry.
