I lucked out, my local Best Buy had a few Chromecasts in stock, and I was able to get one. I had to ask at the register though, as they had them stashed away in the back.
Also, my receipt did have the promo code for the three months of free Netflix streaming.
Watching a stream of the Super Series '76, Russian Red Army versus the Philadelphia Flyers on my television through the Chromecast right now. It's pretty nifty.
Now once I get the one I ordered from the Google Play Store, I'll have one for the television in the basement too!
My local best buy said they won't be getting them for 3 weeks! I'm wondering if I asked the wrong person..

I know the BB i went to had some (but sold out by the time I got there). First two guys I asked didn't know what it was, next guy said that they won't carry it till next week
I got mines today!. I called the bestbuy by my job and the girl told me that they had 8 in stock but to get there fast...she wasn't kidding I went in and there was a buy behind me buying one to. I called about a hour later and they sold out! I tried it out at work and it's great! When I got home I set it up again and netflix really does stream in HD very very clear. Now that the sdk is released I can't wait to see what kind of support we will see for it I'm in love with it this is really the future of TV.:good:
I talked to someone at the local store and they said they would be getting there's tomorrow. Hopefully they will have them when they open.

Also got mine from my local Best Buy... They only had 7,and they weren't on the sales floor. The guy didn't even know what I was talking about, but I asked him to check the system and he found them in the back. One other person was there for them, and he bought 3.

Yup, popped over to my BB this evening around 9 pm, and when I got there (back in the laptop/iPad area) I noticed one of the Geek Squad guys was on stocking duty...and one thing he was stocking on the peg rack was about 10 of the Chromecasts (peg didn't even have a tag on it yet). Once I waited for him to finish, I went over a picked up 2 of them. Though I did notice that while I waited for him to stock the shelf about 2 different BB employees grabbed one each, presumably to pay for them at the end of the night.
Interesting this is, before I headed over there, I saw online that that store (plus maybe one other that was several miles away) had them in stock for store pickup...but after I got home around 10pm, I looked online again and they only listed "Ship to Store - 3-5 days"...now unless the rest were snatched up by employees during the last 45 minutes of business hours, I can't imagine that customers bought them up, but who knows. Anyways I'm considering myself lucky to have gotten hooked up!!
By the way, is there a dedicated XDA forum branch for the Chromecast development or other discussion, other than this area? I'm assuming that there at least will be since the SDK is being released and many cool things should be on the horizon.
as a Best Buy employee, I'm proud to say, as soon as it came off our truck last night, I begged my manager to let me buy it before we closed. but in all fairness, just call your local store in the morning and see if they have any in yet. most stores only received 10 initially, but i know my store is getting another 35 in the next day or two.

Hey thanks for chiming in here. I guess your experience goes to further support my observation at my local BB at around 8:45 pm local time this evening. Again as I said, it appeared that they were only then unpacking/unboxing these items and setting them up on store shelves. In the case of my store, they put it on an unlabeled peg tucked away on the same tiny wall as other miscellaneous USB dongles, almost like they didn't have a proper home for it (and in that case, good luck to anyone who is hoping to locate it in the store without first asking a BB employee to look it up!). At any rate, it appears that at least anyone with any tech savvy (i.e. BB employees and XDA members, lol) are all over these things, so I second reloaded's suggestion - unless you've already placed an online order somewhere, forget the online vendors and try hitting up your local Best Buys tomorrow AM, and then in the coming days. That is undoubtedly going to be your absolute best bet.
Was able to snag 2 at my local best buy. 1 for me, and another to see if I can flip for more money on eBay if they are as hard to come by as the nexus 4 launch. Here's to hoping !

Wow....I just checked also. At 7:45 I called the only BB online close to me that still had them available. The girl checking told me the truck arrived not to long ago with 16 in the shipment. When I got mine (as stated earlier) at 8pm, they still had most left..Checking on the website again, they are ship to store now..

First Best Buy I went to this morning swore up and down there was no way to get them until next week. After asking another employee to check the SKU(9071056) and told me they did not have any in stock but the store about 10 min away still had all 10.
Ran over to the other store.. just as others have already said.. it was in the laptop section. They were still in a box on the counter. Netflix code was printed on the receipt.
Mine only had 3 when I got there (they were in a box by the online pick up guys) I got one and while I was chatting with the sales guy about it (he had a ton of questions) some geek squad came by and swooped up the other 2 to put on reserve for an online order. I went to the 24 hour union square bestbuy the moment I saw you all saying bestbuy had it. I have mine backordered on Amazon so my patience was thin. The guys never hear or saw it before and had to hunt it down for a friend and I. I picked up 3 (my room, living room, girlfriend) and my cruel friend picked up the remaining 7 (wonder why). The workers got hyped by what we told them and said they guess they would pick one up at the next shipment and then a customer walked up and saw then said wow you cleaned house.
Going to try to find one of these today. Going to call ahead first when they open at 10am, hopefully they'll know what I'm talking about. lol.

I have been waiting what seems like forever for my friends at&t store to get the phuckin things. What gives? Is anyone else having a problem finding these available at the stores. The funniest thing is that my friend works at a corporate store in Orange County. Either hes lying to me which would not be healthy, or they really haven't gotten any yet.

You have to educate the CSR's of new items at Walmart. They told me today that they don't have nor do they plan on carrying it. Then they opened the stock cabinet and I pointed at it. They didn't have a display up.
I got mine last night at Walmart and there is one box only in the cage so I went to grab it right away and go home happy.

i got mine yesterday from WM.
I just bought mine from Walmart, they had 5 more boxes in Noblesville Indiana. I tryed buying them from staples but they ran out, and GameStop for some reason won't sell me theirs, said it was for preorder only. I'm really happy with mine right now, no flaws that I can tell.

Funny thing about Wal-Mart, they will take back anything, no questions asked, within a year.
Funny story about the funny thing above, Okla. State Univ. recruited a bunch of European women to play on their women's soccer team a few years ago. They all went to Wal-Mart and bought everything that they needed to furnish an entire apartment. When the season and semester was over, the returned everything down to the last spatula, for cash, and flew home.
I hate Wal-Mart with a white-hot passion, but when you need something at 3am, being able to go buy it at the near by Super Center is... grudgingly... pretty cool.
Wal-Mart is about the easiest place ever to return stuff. I wouldn't hesitate at all to buying one from there.

Perfect Nexus 7 Finally!!!!
I just bought mine from walmart When I went in they didn't have any out for sale but the website said they had them in stock so I asked the sales guy and he said they had them in the back. After buying one from google play and having severe light bleed it was nice to finally see what a perfect nexus 7 looks like. It looks great no light bleed, no dead pixels, no bad wifi and touch is responsive and colors don't look washed out, feels solid. I also got their 2 year protection for $20.00 it covers anything. So anyone with doubts about walmart might wanna give them a try.

NEEDED: Intel courtesy of someone who works for Wal-Mart.
The inventory information on the Wal-Mart.com that is accessible to the public runs two weeks behind. If you check today for Wal-Mart No.550756186 (the 16gb Nexus 7) it gives you store inventory as of 7/15/2012 (two weeks ago). Searching it for the dozen stores in/near 74105 (Tulsa, OK) shows that all 12 normally carry it, but are out of stock as of 7/15/2012. Well, no****, Sherlock. No Wal-Mart in America had any on 7/15, so this really just tells me that the stores should have it or get some soon. Based on reports in this thread that people are finding them in stock at their local Wal-Mart stores, I went to one here and called five others. None reported having any, but I'm not sure that they made much of an effort to search.
Surely someone who actually worked for Wal-Mart could access inventory info that's much closer to real time (like 24hrs or less). It sure would be nice if someone would tell us what to expect and which Wal-Mart's should have them.
For me, the cost of shipping is typically about the same as sales tax ($16 on the $200 model; $20 on the $250). All things considered, I'd prefer to buy from a local Wal-Mart, have the benefit of no questions asked one year returns and be able to buy a $20 covers nearly everything two year extended warranty. For me, this is preferable to $25 in Google Play credit.
Someone here woks for Wal-Mart, probably. C'mon, help a brother out.

I just ordered mine on the Walmart.com site and it was ready within a few hours. When I went in to pick it up, they said they still had about 12 more in the back. So it seems there may be some truth behind the Walmart Availability. Although, it wasn't displayed in the electronics department yet. Good Luck!
Hey guys just passing along my horror story from the Google Play Store. So I pre-ordered my Nex7 on June 29th cool, got it on July 17th. Opened it up and started charging it. It doesn't accept a charge from the included charger, or so I tried 3 other chargers no go, tried from my computer to the tablet and it lets me access the internal storage like it should but alas, no charging. Factory reset no go, long story short I'm not a Android noob my any means and tried everything because honestly who wants to mail back their new toy? Called support waited on hold for a little over an hour which was expected because I'm sure a ton of people were calling asking where theirs as at so it is what it is. So it gets sent to the "Internal" team for RMA and exchange and they will Email me my UPS stuff. So 4 days later I get the email (July 21st) and I ship it back on the following Monday (July 23rd) and order the new one the same day which the pre-authorized my card for the 249.99 in case I never send back my original makes sense ok. Normally the new one is mailed out in 3 days or so. So Thursday (July 26th) rolls around and Google gets my old tablet and mine still hasn't shipped. So finally on Monday (July 29th) I call to ask if something is wrong or whatever because I still haven't seen anything on my replacement tablet and I get the explanation of it's "Stuck" and the "Internal" team is looking into it. So at that point I'm curious what stuck actually is? I've sent in my old one and it was received and I've ordered my new one with was pre-authorized. She didn't know but assured me I'd get an email VERY soon on it. So fast forward to today (August 13th) I've called once a week to inquire about it and I'm still being polite about it because I've had to work customer service when I was younger and I know these poor people get freaked out on by tons of callers even though they didn't do anything wrong. Today I was told that apparently the ENTIRE internal team was in a meeting until noon today (Right?) and the CSR I talked to today would personally talk to a few of them because it's been 3 weeks since I put in my order for a replacement and it SHOULD take roughly 3 day (I'm not holding my breath).
So basically I'm failing to see the problem here. They received my old one, they've charged me for a new one, but it hasn't been sent. I'm not understanding why it takes 3 weeks to solve this problem on my it's "Stuck" when it should take about 30 seconds to look at my account and see everything is as it should be and send the new one.
On a side note I never activated it on my account so it's not like there's a $20 credit they're trying to sort out or anything it's all about as strait forward of an exchange as you can get. I've already purchased a Nexus 7 from Sams Club (Before mine ever came in the mail) and this one was suppose to be for my girl friend and now she's mad because she loves mine and wants her own. I doubt even if this gets resolved today I'll ever buy from them again and if it doesn't get resolved I guess I'll return it and drive 10 minutes to Walmart and buy one.
Sorry if it seems like a rant but I figured I'd just share my current experience with the Play Store.

Check this out I have been submitting a return request every monday or tuesday for 3 straight weeks. Absolutely nothing. I hate waiting on the phone but I guess I will have to. Why do they have the form there when they never answer the requests? I'm not picky about customer service but this is terrible.

Ten_fold is correct, it will take 2 weeks to get my money back even though they've had my original device in their hands for a "Pending" exchange for almost a month now. I'm not really picky or anything but this whole thing is pretty nuts. Honestly at my job if I did stuff like this I'm pretty sure I'd be fired pretty quick especially since this isn't even anything special just mail the Fing thing out.

I'm not super stressed about it, but having £168 of my money taken away from me for almost a month, for an item i technically never even received is beyond a joke really.
I refused my order from the Play Store as instructed by Google when they wouldn't let me cancel. A month on and I'm still waiting for my refund.

I have been waiting since July 24 for my refund I phone them and they don't seem bothered what a bunch of jokers google you are the worse company of 2012 in my books.

I had a very similar experience with Logitech, and after I sent a formal written complaint they sent me a free G700 gaming mouse ($100 value).
I'd recommend actually reaching out to Google in a formal and professional manner. See if you can find the email address for a customer service member, or someone a little higher up the food chain.
I reserved the Galaxy s4 at my local Sprint store on Monday. Walked in today and they had 8 available. So needless to say, you might want to check your local Sprint store to see if they had any shipments because mine did. By the way I returned the HTC One for this phone and I couldn't be happier.

Sprint won't be my carrier but if they have them in store I would stop by just to check out the phone in person, assuming they have one for display.
Our 2 local sprint stores and BB all got the Sprint S4's in today. I almost bought one, but they would not match the online price of $149 that I could get on sprint.com by adding a new line. So I came home and ordered one up instead. $100 is a $100. But it was nice to play with one in the store a bit before making the final decision.

Wait, what? I thought Sprint delayed all of the S4s. When I called BB about my pre-order yesterday to see if it was affected, all I got was that it wasn't in yet and they wouldn't get any sort of an ETA because of them using drop shipment to (supposedly) get it there faster. I may have to drop in today and see what's up with that. >.>
Edit: Just did so. According to the rep I spoke with, Samsung only shipped the ATT phones. All other carriers' S4s have yet to show up. Anyone else running into something similar?

We went into the Sprint store shortly after they opened on Saturday just to see if they might have received any. I'd heard the delayed rumors too, so was not shocked when they said no. Mgr said he'd got an email the night before saying they might try to scrape a few together and get them there, so check back later. Basically the same story at the BB store 2 blocks away. Called later in the day and the Sprint store had them in. So I went in and played with it for a while. When they could not price match the web price, we went over to BB. They had also received the phones but would not match the price either.
All were Sprint phones, both colors, 16gb. They are getting delivered for retail sales, at least in some areas. Guaranteed. You can call the Sprint or BB stores in Rogers and Bentonville Arkansas to confirm it, if you'd like. They may all be sold out by now as there were folks lined up to look at them, but they had them for a while yesterday, at the least. I had a black one in my hands and ready to buy until the ad match snafu came up.

Haha your first paragraph was just be way my several went at one of my local corporate store I reserved a handset at. But when I called a friend at another corporate location just a few towns south of me, she said she had a huge supply but we're running low rapidly. And even at 10:15am the store was PACKED! So in turn, I had a feeling that some stores may have some supply. Which was exactly what happened. Funny, cause the 2 BB stores in Mt area have the Samsung booths. Neither were displaying anything. Which I thought was unusual, cause even though there is a delay, I would have thought that they would at least wanna show Em off

I got mine! 4.2.2 is alot different. Menu's have more to it. Overall I am liking the GS4. Bigger screen, smoother and faster than my GS3. I cant wait until a solid root is out there and for Ktoons OC kernel to come out! I can see this thing rocking 2.5 GHZ with it's quad core! My Quadrant score is already 12,772 stock, so I'm thinking 18,000 is possible!

Spoke to a sprint employee on the 24th(after they stopped taking pre-orders) and was told they'd only get enough S4s to satisfy pre orders and then would have to wait for "a week or so" for a shipment of S4s for the general public. So I preordered from amazon and they said they'd ship the today and deliver May 1st. But yesterday I called local sprint stores and 3rd one I called said they had one left in white. Amazon preorder cancelled shortly their after . Any way what I took away from this fro any one still looking for S4s is that some sprint stores have general public stock but generally the bigger stores closer to downtown (I'm in Houston). The stores that only have pre order stock just don't know what the hell they are talking about .

I must have gotten lucky, because I ordered mine online from Sprint Saturday the 28th in the afternoon (pst), and received a shipping notification Sunday at 10AM and received my shipment Monday morning at 9:45 AM. Needless to say I was happily shocked
I was able to use Upgrade Now for $100 fee. They bought my cracked E4GT for $64. They said they had 13 white and 8 black.

The release date was pushed back because word of a possible shortage, and several sites were on backorder..... smartass

My local sprint store in memphis also has/had a bunch in stock opening day. I leisurely walked in not expecting them to have it, but they had about 10 left at closing in Saturday

So my AT&T store got their N6's in-stock but as everyone knows they were recalled. They have no ETA on when they will have more in-stock BUT told me they can still order one for me threw something called the fulfillment center? They said it would take 3~5 days for it to ship.
Is this true?
If they can have them shipped in 3 to 5 days, why do they have no ETA on getting them? I'm reluctant to order one and then have the wait turn into weeks or even a couple months.
I'm almost thinking about getting an S5 tonight at Best Buy for the Black Friday $1.00 dollars deal. I REALLY want the N6 but my S3 is broken and I'm without a phone right now. It broke a just under two weeks before the N6 was due out so I didn't file a claim for insurance, just held out for the N6 and that damn recall crap happened.
I keep seeing people say they are just going to go get one from Best Buy but when I call any Best buy in my state they tell me they never got N6's and their system shows they never not N6's yet people keep saying here on XDA well I'm just going to go get one from BB etc.

First, the stores have been getting their replacement N6's for the past 2 days. Some stores got them in Tuesday, the ones near where I live got them Wed. Chances are high that, if your local stores don't have them already, they'll get them Friday.
As for "direct fulfillment" taking 3-5 days, it's kind of a random thing. I ordered one around noon on Tuesday with overnight delivery, and it showed up at my door Wed morning. (However, the AT&T website and the call centers all insisted it wouldn't ship until sometime in December.) I've read of some people taking a day or two before they ship out, and then another 2 days for actual delivery. It also depends on if AT&T has physical stock. (Also, if you order on black Friday, it's possible that no one will ship it until the following week - due to the holiday.)
If you want the nexus 6, I'd call your local corporate stores (more than one) Friday around 1pm to see if they got their daily shipment yet and if any nexus 6's came in.
Interesting that the AT&T store did not have any clue when they might receive a re-stock. I also checked another one that is in my local mall, I do not know if it's a corporate store but they said a few weeks.
I do know that no Best Buys in my state show any N6's have ever come in, one of the guys checked the computer for me.
I will go try the AT&T store tomorrow. I would rather SEE the phone I'm actually getting and not wait for it to just show up on my door step!
Thanks for the update. Side note this delay has allowed for my Digitronics TPU Gen 2 N6 case to be here when I do get my phone. Suppose to be delivered tomorrow!

No sign of the N6 in at&t stores or best buy in CA. I've checked every day this week. I will check again today.
I ordered mine before Thanksgiving from AT&T website and it arrived yesterday, haven't had any trouble with mine.

yeah I was able to pick up a Nexus 6 from ATT store yesterday here in Michigan, actually Angola, IN across board from me and I think My local ATT store has couple too and we are actually kind out away from any major city and they had them in stock and I was really surprise they did.
I should have updated the thread. I ended up finding one at one of the Corporate stores here in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
They got them in on Friday.
The At&t store here in Salem, Oregon has them, I just got mine today. The website wouldn't tell me a shipping date so I popped in on the off chance they had them in since the recall. The rep told me they just came in yesterday and were in the back still, then went and got me one. Seems they only have the midnight blue though.

I finally found the phone after calling around to other at&t stores in nearby towns. Lesson learned; even though one employee from one store says noone has it, keep checking. They don't know and they dont care. They had three of them in stock and not a whole lot of accessories. As i was buying it, a lady asked me what phone it was and picked one up clueless. The employees barely know what they're selling if it's not a Samsung or iphone. The emoloyees had no idea they were the only stire with the phone in stock. So, the stores don't talk to one another and these were corporate stores, noy authorized retailers.
