chromecast to usb audio input? - Google Chromecast

Has anyone tried to use an hdmi to usb adapter to hook chromecast to a stereo with a usb input and built in DAC?
If this works it would be a great cheap way to stream google music to my amp with a built in DAC. I'd like to avoid the BT route.
I guess the big issue would be if the audio format was readable for a dac after being pushed through a HDMI to USB converter.
Thanks ahead of time.

Stop MHL audio out or choose audio output

Hello,
I just got a hdmi to dvi converter so I could plug the microusb to hdmi adapter to my monitor via dvi.
However the galaxy note wants to push audio out to the monitor which obviously is for picture only.
I want the audio to come back out from the speakers again, does anyone know an app that can switch audio outputs? I tried googling but nothing pops up that forces android to output audio to certain outputs, like speaker or headset.
Thanks.
Haven't tried this app.
But maybe this will do it:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.audiowidgetpro&hl=en (Pro version)
Tried that app but doesnt have option to select audio outputs
Just has volume options.
There doesnt seem to be an HDMI setting either after plugging in the hdmi adapter.
get a Y splitter for audio cable. get a male to male audio cable.
Uplug your speaker audio cable from your computer. Lets call this the speaker cable.
plug the y cable into your audio jack to your computer.
Plug your speaker cabe into one of the Y splitters.
Plug one end of your male to male audo cable into the other side of the splitter.
Now plug the last part into your phone. its a work around, but cheap and easy work around.
parts here:

Under $5. radio shack will cost you $9 for the splitter itself. I just got it a few weeks ago
please tell me the brand of hdmi mhl you have with a link if possible and the converter for the hdmi > dvi. I cant get mine to work for my nexus.
Got all my stuff from monoprice.com

[Q] Preamp AUX audio signal output?

I am interested in connecting my phone to an external DAC/AMP (Fiio e17/e9) via its micro USB port and is wondering if this is possible?
Does Andriod OS support AUX preamp audio signal out through it's micro USB port? If so, which adapter should I purchase?
Or I could maybe do it by using a combination of adapters MHT to HDMI first and then HDMI to SPDIF (PCM signal) ? Any suggestion on the adapters?
Cheers
BUMP!
anyone?
I want ti do the same. I have a note 2 and would like to know if there is a method to connect the a fiio e11 via a 3 5mm stereo jack with the pre amp output from the phone?

Stream ANYTHING to a reciever from my note 5?

Anyone know a way to stream any sound output over WiFi to a dongle I can ug into my slightly old reciever? Sort of like a blutooth dongle with output incan plug into my reciever.
Does this exist in a Bluetooth form?
Any ideas?
You look at Chromecast Audio?

Something like this would work

You just need to use an adapter like a left/right rca cable to a mini plug.

One cable for in car audio and charge - possible?

The talk around the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack from some phones has got me thinking... is it possible to have a cable in my car that I plug into the OnePlus3 USB C port, that then provides power AND audio out? I don't need DASH charging (but reasonably fast charging would be good), and I have a 3.5mm jack in my car, so is this possible, and if so, what would I need to connect from USB C to power and audio our (3.5mm)?
Why? My car has Bluetooth audio, but it's a pain. When I start the car it's not instant on. Sometimes it decides not to connect. Sometimes audio drops out. I also have another phone for work, but my car only allows a single bluetooth connection, so when I'm travelling for work, I'd like my work phone connected to Bluetooth for calls and my OnePlus3 connected via 3.5mm for audio. BUT I don't want another cable to connect. I want this simple and quick!
Any thoughts?!
is the BT in your car an embedded head unit?
you could get an FM-BT transmitter device like these:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...transmitter&sprefix=bluetooth+fm+tran,aps,332
which you could use instead of, or in addition to, your current BT solution

as a side note, what you're asking for is definitely POSSIBLE, but likely a bit expensive and may not be SUPPORTED by your sound system.
Yes, my car has Bluetooth in the factory fitted head unit. Its just that Bluetooth tends to be a pain. Takes 30seconds to connect after I start the car, etc. And as my car also has 3.5mm input I was just thinking there may be a more elegant solution using USB C.

like i said, there is (since USB-C can carry audio, even video and ethernet etc), but i'm pretty sure your car's head unit won't support it.
check out the BT-FM transmitter products i suggested.

Yeah, I get that, and like I said, my car has a 3.5mm input. So I need USB C -> Power and Audio via 3.5mm output. Something like the adaptor that comes with the Moto Z: http://www.androidcentral.com/moto-zs-usb-c-headphone-jack-adapter
But, I'd like to split the USB C off to provide power input as well as audio out. So I was thinking something like a USB C hub. But not sure if that would still provide the USB C Audio out as well as enough power to charge the phone.

you could try that adapter + a USB-C hub
I've used my Nexus 6P with USB-C hub to use mice/keyboard/flashdrive while charging my phone via USB-C, i assume OP3 is no different since it has USB-OTG as well (won't charge faster than 1.5A via the hub though)
What you need is a USB C DAC. Here. use an OTG cable from your phone to a hub. Plug the DAC into the hub. Audio will route out USB to DAC and then you can plug a 3.5mm cable into the DAC for high quality audio. The otg will charge the phone at the same time.

Usb-c 3.5mm with charge port unrecognized

Anyone have issues with there s20fe usb c to 3.5mm
headphone adapters? Everything i have had time to research said turn developer mode on and make sure disable usb audio routing is not selected. Ive done all this and im still confused is this something samsung has prevented in attempt for me to pay for bt headset?
You using the Samsung adapter?
Try toggling Developer options off.
Lol, the inconvenience of the dongle is enough motivation by itself to use bt
No im remote and i need to use the output to route my audio through an existing PA for a presentation tomorrow and this PA is analog and ancient as well. Ive already had to purchase this dongle and a 3.5mm to 1/4 cable for the sound technician.

If it's the Samsung dongle it has a built in DAC* and should work if the impedance is compatible with the preamp input.
Now it's getting to be a lot of if's.
I would test it first.
*To output in the analog realm from the phone you need to use a DAC interface. Raw output from the phone through the C port is in the digital realm.
yeah any dongle needs to have a DAC built into it and not all of them do. some phones have that inside, some don't like ours.
The Samsung adapter works well. I can confirm the UGREEN and SunnyLan 3.5mm+Charge adapters work as well.
