Is Google Play store crappy? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

1- How can customer supports at Google Play store close my Google wallet account after asking me to submit ID and a bank statement when I already verified who I am over the phone?
2- I refused to do that in the name of their security and their $1 app. I have never experienced this kind of service before in my life. It really sucks.
Have you experienced this before ? and how did you handle this situation?

Can I purchase in-game credits for a game with Amazon android store? If so, how? Thank you.

They have policies that are legal, you refused them, they close your account.... I fail to see the bad service here..
Buy an iPhone where to download ANY app they require you to be verified and have your banking info

Is it legal for them to tell me to wait for 48 hours before making another purchase and then closed my Google wallet account after this ending period?

phone stolen from my friend need away to know theif number

a lady stole my friend sgs luckily she doesn't know how to use the phone at all, its been 3 weeks and i'm still trying to find where she lives
the phone still has the gmail account linked i installed plan b and androidlost but they both needs me to send a text message to activate them and i dont have her number
plan b doesnt seams to works as everyone knows that the sgs with stock rom has a very bad gps lock
my best lock will be with androidlost as it has many features
we already notified the police but with no info at all on her we wont be able to do anything
i would hope if there is any app that would send her phone number to he linked gmail account , or any other kind of apps that may help
The only apps that I know of that will do that are Avast! and Cerberus, but both have to be installed beforehand.
Don't know how to do what you want but i hope you removed any card details from your account so they cant buy things on the app store with your details.
Your gmail account should have the ip addresses it was accessed from this may be of use to the police. This can be found at the bottom right of your inbox.

What carrier is the phone with?
Sprint has a family locator plan that can be initiated remotely. I believe they offer a free 2 week trial.
You can try pulling the call history online with the carrier to get the numbers called
and even request that the phone be traced.
Samsung Galaxy SIII (SPH-L710)
Try to contact google, if you have a police report with the IMEI you might pull of a IP log of the people who accessed the acccount, from the you could go to the carrier company with your police report or the cops could do it and they'll be able to pull of her records by the IP.
I can't figure out why the US doesn't enfore locking the phones by IMEI, I remember my brand new iPhone was stolen last year and the cops couldn't do a thing. so I suggest you or your friend do this step by step and hope for the best.
sadly i dont live in the US so all these things are impossible , police wont do **** here , i'm still waiting for plan b to lock on gps but still no email , i'm keeping the gmail account still on the phone because it has no valuble info except for the contacts which are already backed up , and the person who stole the pone is so dump and cant even know how to install or uninstall apps

if only some one made an app that will look for a contact name and send an sms to it and the user can save that predefined contact to google contacts which will sync to the phone
so if the app is looking for Joe123 all you have to do is create a new contact in google contact with Joe123 and input you second phone number
then wait for it to sync with the stolen phone then install that app which will send you an sms with the theif number and possibly GPS if available
and once you get that number you can install androidlost and start controlling the phone
thats just an idea and i hope some one will make it true one day
I think the one WiredPirate linked to should work..
You can still install apps via the online play store can't you? Then why can't you install avast?

Using Us play store credit outside US

Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy the Nexus 7. My friend will buy it from US, activate it so that I will get the free credit and sent it over to me in India.
I understand I wont be able to use Movies, Books etc.
But will I be able to use the free credit to buy apps in India?????
Depends on the copyright the application creators allow. In most cases, yes.
Ok I will clarify a little more. I am not asking about any region limited apps. Will I be able to use the credit to buy apps in Indian play store? Or is the free credit valid within US only?
Thanks
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
I was in Canada when I bought my Nexus 7, and travelled to the US. While there, I did buy some apps, though I was not allowed to use their Magazines and Music store. It knew I was Canadian, but gave me access to apps on the American store (like NBC Olympics). You'd probably have similar luck.
And it's a great tablet anyway, even without the Play Store credit. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't work.
Though I wonder if MarketEnabler would get it to work if it doesn't. I'm just confident that you'll be fine.

I don't think using the credit is a problem rather getting a credit is a problem as Google would require a US credit carded added in your wallet account before you activate your free credit.

I got that one covered. My friend would buy it activate using my Id and his card and then sent it over to me.
Another doubt. Can I still use the credit even after the card which was used to activate the device is removed from my wallet account?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
yes i've done exactly that, i used my brothers credit card details to get the free credit and then deleted his card from my payment options.. still have the 25 dollars play store credit.. its there like its own gift voucher card

Yes, no problem with that.
A different method to get the credit!
Well I tried another method of getting Play store credit. Using this method I was able to achieve it all. And I find that this connects with VPN with more speed rather than configuring using on device VPN connection.
I did following to get the $25 credit plus Google Movies, Music, Wallet, Books and Magzines too
1. Download Spotflux and install it. (a Free and best VPN solution)
2. Download Connectify and install it.
3. Share Spotflux connection using Connectify
4. Rest your Nexus 7 tablet
5. Connect using the newly created WiFi hotspot
6. Just proceed with the steps. After completion you will receive $25 credit
All these steps in detail and with screenshots are also available on my blog post http://www.abtevrythng.com/2012/09/how-to-get-25-credit-in-play-store-with.html

NFC...

Ok.. So please excuse my ignorance and enlightened me with some NFC knowledge..
I found NFC setting on my Unrooted Stock T-mobile GNote. I'm hoping that this means that I could potentially use Google Wallet/Isis (if available) and other NFC payment methods. Am I correct?
Can anyone shed more light on this... Will it be available in the future for this device? ... And explain how it works?
Thank you Greatly!

Just because a device has NFC doesn't mean it has Google wallet support- and probably will never have support. T-Mobile and at&t aren't opting Google wallet because they want to push ISIS instead.

Just got more info... T-Mobile Readies SIM Card Release For ISIS Mobile Wallet ...Unfortunately ISIS is a system that rivals Google Wallet and so GW probably won't be supported for a while until Google really starts to push the Carriers. And Gnote is currently not on the list of phones for T mobile ISIS update so ...hmmm not sure what will happen

Well, Canada getting anything is quite groundbreaking! Thats what this is all about.
Theres no Radio on my google music... maybe I didnt get update?
Welcome to Canada!
I'm glad a post was made announcing Google Music's availability in Canada, perhaps a new thread dedicated to services actually available to Canadians should be started, for example Amazon app store is finally available to us Canadians (Free app of the Day):victory:
For those who don't care I understand, but many many services are delayed or blocked for us up here so having a resource or post letting us now about one finally getting loose up here is great!

This is how it happened. I accessed the Play Store, and went to Music. It was there that I found music for sale! I immediately bought the new pearl jam cd. I now believe that it was this purchase that brought about the changes to Google music on my phone.
I am running v5.2.1224L.847622

Grand Central, the company Google purchased and transformed into Google Voice, offered Canadian numbers.
Plus there are several talk/text applications that offer Canadian numbers like Fongo.
Don't know, but I'll take your word for it. Perhaps it's size - smaller player's get away with it, while bigger companies play by the rules? I'm sure if they could Google would go for it - it's in their interest to do so.

It looks at the serial number, bought one of eBay it seems it is also an import. From the articles I had read it referred at location and not hardware specific. Not bad deal either way.
This is 'per' chromecast deal I believe, as I;ve tried with my household users and it redeems the same code.

8 (number) and B (letter) look very similar on the serial number, probably because someone felt nostalgic and used a 1980's-resolution printer to make it.
Can't remember offhand whether the Chromecast app reports the serial number. It's also etched on the Chromecast unit itself with higher resolution, but lower contrast. Google must think we're all eagle-eyed.
The actual method from the android app is as follows:
Open the chromecast app
Wait for the list of devices to populate.
Select the relevant device.
Wait for the "Connecting to XXXX" dialogue to finish.
When all the device info etc pops up, press the menu overflow button.
Select "Check for offers" and follow the instructions. (You must agree to send your serial number).
It should then allow you to open the play store and redeem the voucher immediately.
From a PC/laptop, you need to try http://www.chromecast.com/offers and follow the instructions.
In both cases you must be connected to the same Wifi network as the relevant chromecast and on a PC/laptop, you need to be using the Chrome browser and have the Google Cast extension installed.
