i just got my screen broken of my galaxy s i9000
main glass is not broken but internal lcd has got broken so i cant see anything but everything else is working as i cant receive msgs
i went to service center they said it will cost 5000 rupees to get it fixed (Vadodara, Gujarat, India)
and in out market they said it will cost around 4500 as both outer and inner screen will need to be replaced
now selling cost of my mobile ryt now is coming only max 5500 as by retailers word
my question is what should i do now??
should i get it fixed? or just leave it?
anyone know good place where i can get it fixed in low cost
anyone had experience of getting broken screen fixed?
please help me

No they don't!!! already checked with them and be sure to check out the other forums relating to this topic BEFORE you go further - check whether it is just the touchscreen or the whole screen that needs replacing saves you time and money as others have made this mistake!!! I think the £70 price is if you are a U.K O2 contrated owner, cause they told me it was double this price and I was just needing my touchscreen replaced as it was scratched up!!

I have a new XDA which basically doesn't work because something in the circuitry is broken and it doesn't make any sound.However eveything else works(what I mean is the phone bit doesn't work,but the PDA side of it does).
What that means is that the screen and other physical external parts are in perfect working order.
So if you are looking for a screen or any other major part,I could be persuaded to part with it at a reasonable price.

My screen was broken also, did a huge search through the internet and came up with nothing. The only thing that could be replaced was the touch screen, not the lcd screen. I had to sent it back to o2. Cost: 284 Euro!!!!!
It's been 3 weeks now, and I'm still waiting for my phone :shock: .

The LCD screen and all the physical parts are perfectly ok on my XDA.So someone can make a tidy saving by taking the XDA off me in case their screen is broken.

I wouldn't like to drive this.Offer me a price and I will let you know if I do accept the price.
But no point asking me to part with it for €50 or something as ridiculous as that as I already have an offer for €75 and am waiting for something better.As I said all the parts are in perfect order and there are no scratches or anything like that.So you get a safety net of all replaceable parts.
I am open to offers on this one.
I was thinking about this and maybe half of what O2 charge to replace the screen is a fair price? On top of the screen,you will get the exterior casing,buttons,stylus the ROM,everything. So I think it is a fair price.Let me know if anyone's interested.

I got a broken/cracked tilt from a co-worker for free (he replaced his with an iphone). I bought a screen off of ebay for about $80 and replaced it. It wasn't hard if you have a steady hand and some patience. I used the guide located here http://michael-channon.mobile.spaces.live.com/ent.aspx?h=cns!4472423472DCFC38!287.
If you're not technically inclined then u may want to go with the advice of the above poster and pay the $160 to have it replaced.
Or you can put it on ebay, I know some one who will buy it.
My Htc Tytn or Titan or sprint mogul or 6800, hmmm I think it has enough names also had the lcd crack. I was curious if anyone knows how much sprint charges to fix a broken LCD and touchscreen? I don't want to have to send my phone away to pocketpctechs in the mail if I don't have to. I also don't have the insurance and it's too late for me to add-on now because I checked.
Also, has anyone paid pocketpctechs.com to fix theirs yet? Says it costs $169 plus you pay the shipping to them. Do they provide good service/work and do they honor their warranties? Thanks in advance if anyone has any more info.

I found a G1 for sale on craigslist and I was curious to see if you think the problem it has is hardware or software related. Follows is the description...(caps was in the original post so please forgive me)
BECAUSE IT WILL BE WORKING FINE AND SOMETIMES WHEN YOU GO TO CLOSE THE PHONE QUICKLY THE SCREEN WILL FADE BLACK AND IT MUST BE TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN TO GET THE SCREEN BACK ON
Does anyone think this is fixable?

Personally, I would stay away from it. I have routinely found deals for G1's on ebay for between $120 and $140 that have less wrong with them than some mystery screen problem. My spare G1 I got on ebay for $72 with free shipping and it just has a cracked screen. I am sure you can find a better deal if you are patient and look elsewhere other than CL. Good luck

The problem MAY be software related but im sure that most people who post such ad's are leaving out important details (i.e it started doing that after he dropped in his bathtub )
Hello Friends
As the title says my brother's SGS fell from his pocket and the screen broke!
The service centre in my city says it would charge around 400$ ! Thats ridiculous. While the service centre person says he can do it outside the service centre unofficially for around 180$.
So I am thinking of buying the replacement screen from ebay which costs from 60-100$ depending upon the sellers.
So any suggestions or advice or precautions you people may want to share or anything I should be careful about?

Broke the screen of my HTC One, was working fine for a while with a cracked outer screen, but lcd has now stopped working completely with just a white light, so desperately need to get it repaired, seen repairs for roughly £100 however would like to know if anyone knows anyone/anywhere reputable to get it done a bit cheaper? ive seen someone APPARENTLY doing it for £45 but that seems too good to be true.... thanks
