Ubuntu touch for Xperia zr - Ubuntu Touch Ports to Android

Is there anybody out there who is developing ubuntu touch for Xperia zr?
I would love to have ubuntu touch on my xperia zr.
Can anybody give me guidance on how to go about developing one myself?

Do you have any experience in developing the ubuntu touch according to that porting guide?
I have no experience in developer Android, however I would like to begin the development in ubuntu touch.
I read through that porting guide, I found that it is hard and difficult for me to begin with it.
I'm not want to develop for Tablet Z, but Xperia S.
It has a developer who made/ported it to Xperia S, but recently he is busy with the other ROM which is CM10.1,
therefore the progress on ubuntu touch is held on.
I would like to 'repo' his CM10.1 source and try to develop the working device image for Xperia S,
However I Di not know where and how to start. I do not know what part of source is required.
According to the porting guide, it say the low level source code of CM10.1 is needed only, but I do not know which part is...
Totally idealess...

Sorry, I have no experience in porting Ubuntu Touch. I could help you a bit with basic Linux Terminal commands and maybe in a few weeks with writing apps.
Maybe you can ask the dev of Ubuntu Touch for your device what you have to do.

You have said there is an existing port availiable? Have you tried updating this port?

The existing port is only applicable to raring preview, not anymore to the later phablet image.
I want to try port it to flipped phablet image.
Anyway, thank you.

[ROM] [JB] AOSP for the Xperia T [AOSP] [NEW]

This is an AOSP build for the Sony Xperia T.
What is AOSP?
AOSP is the Android Open Source Project. It is the code that Google releases to the public to build upon.
What does this ROM do?
This ROM is the AOSP sources compiled so they would run on our device. It is similar and different to how CyanogenMod and other source compiled ROMs work. The interface will be the same, the overall feel of the ROM will be the same. However, unlike other custom ROMs there are no options. There are no settings to play around with. It's just a pure Google Experience. Think of it as using the ROM that comes as stock on a Nexus device - it is exactly that. It's superfast and just how Google intended
Working:
All core and important functions of the ROM - WiFi, Bluetooth, RIL, Mobile Data. Camera etc.
Not working:
There will inevitably be some bugs. I've played with it for a few days and I couldn't fin anything glaringly broken in my usage. However, I fully expect there to be minor problems here and there - please feel free to report on this thread.
Download:
ROM - 24/08/2012 - Download
GApps - Download
The kernel source for this ROM can be found at https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_sony_msm8x60
Thanks to:
FreeXperia Team and codeworkx for their awesome work on the device tree and kernel

Have I already linked this one? If not I will do soon.

Can you test the prox sensor during a phone call and see if the screen comes on when pulled away from your ear? Interested in AOSP options if things are solid. Thanks for the ROM tilal.
I know this wasn't suppose to work on TX, but I tried it on my TX anyways
Screen in recovery is upside down
and I get "Status 7" error on flashing the zip
Thank you,
I think that it should work also on TX .
just install it with another kernel
-----
i think that Status 7 has to do something with the update.zip .

Could you share what kernel you used?
Tried it with AOKP and image still upside down. When android boots, no touch screen works.
I have an xperia S...but a user asked if a xperia S rom works on the xperia SL...and the rom that was made for Xperia S...also worked on SL ..
and i think he also recived the error 7 thing..
Wow this is exciting news, whats the verdict on this one then, any issues. Is it silky smooth!!?

Well depends on your knowledge, but it's not easy, it's quite a job and Ubuntu for phones is right know in pre-Alpha stage so... Yeah it will not be good for any everyday use yet, since you even can't play your own music on it yet
Btw Dev you're going to need to make a factory image for our device also so we can revert back to Android.

@Dev apparently you will be able to flash this via recovery and restore to Android using recovery so if you download their maguro .zip and port it to our devices we'll be able to flash ubuntu using our current kernel Then even the biggest noob can flash ubuntu but dunno what they're going to have it for
People with other devices than the maguro DO NOT install this as it's for the maguro only!
Or if you're a dev going to port it, well then just go ahead.

Ubuntu Touch?

Just curious. Is anyone working on a port of Ubuntu Touch for the RAZR i? If the answer is yes then awesome, if not then I'm gonna give it a shot. Would you guys be interested in using it?

I'd be interested in using it.
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
I was just reading up on it and officially they use cm10 as a base but they say you can also use an aosp ROM as a base. That means I could theoretically use the retail EU ROM for the RAZR i as the base and make porting a lot easier
Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk 2
I'd be interested if it's installable as a dual-boot (and yes, that's possible; look at the HP Touchpad (which I also have) which now dual-boots Ubuntu Touch and webOS).
Dual booting would totally be possible. Just have to use a boot loader that can handle it. Don't think there exists a custom boot loader for the RAZR i yet though. Although I don't think it would be too difficult to install syslinux for example.
Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk 2
Maybe we could use moboot like the HP Touchpad? It's open source so in theory we could compile it for the Razr i.

It's definitely possible. And even easier than porting an android rom. You can use any aosp ROM as a base. Ubuntu just needs the kernel the drivers, and the radio. That's it. There are step by step instructions in the Ubuntu wiki on how to "plug in" these files into Ubuntu touch, then you compile, and flash using adb. It's fairly straight forward. Once it's working, I'll work on porting a boot loader that supports multiple partitions. I know that's possible because I'm currently dual booting cm10 and Arch Linux on my evo 3D.
Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk 2
I'd be interested in trying it out, but I also want to encourage this because it sounds like it would give us a good AOSP base to work off of for other Android ROMs.

PORTING

FROM WHAT PHONE I CAN DO THIS PORT?!
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008
Thanks!
ANd can someone give me some site where i can learn something about developing and other things!?
You need to search a phone with almost the same specs as ours. So and qualcomm cpu and set and an adreno 320.
Also an personal opnion: Dont open these threads if you have not read properly since all the needed intel can be found here on XDA
according to my experience.
firstly you needed find a phone that have same build id. for example: our cm10.1 is JDQ39E but in some devices it is JDQ39 so you need to find device with the same device to ours.
and secondly same procie. i mean same core processor, but its better if there is exactly same cpu.
and third. find the device with same resolution with ours, i mean its Full HD or XHDPI devices.
