[Q] No Stranslate!! - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys!
I live and work in Japan, and since I speak only a little Japanese, I got the S4 from a service provider called Docomo. I thought it would come with STranslate. It, for some reason, did not. Anyone have an APK for this file that I can download without rooting my phone (Do not want to Void the warranty just yet.
Phone would be perfect with it, It was a big deciding feature on buying it.... Pretty sure all I need is the APK. Thanks guys!
It may be because I bought the blue Version which is only available in Japan (At least thats what the girl who sold it told me, mind she could have been meaning something else and it just got lost in translation...)

I tried installing the apk through direct download. It kept saying application not installed. I am not sure how to properly do it. I can't open in bootloader as I am not rooted..... and I am not sure about the codex and what I am supposed to do with that. I'll try a bit more.

Lol it should say Odex. I must have overlooked the fact you are stock and not rooted. I normally just use a file explorer and place those 2 files in system/app but if you are not rooted this will not work. All apologies

CHALLENGE/PROJECT: Bootable installer.

So, my little brother has a NookColor with the regular stock 1.4 firmware. (Unrooted) I don't want to root it since extra money was paid for special insurance. My little brother wants Minecraft- Pocket Edition SO BADLY and it isn't available on the app store.
CHALLENGE: Design a bootable .IMG file that will, without rooting, install a user-defined application onto the NookColor. (After writing the .IMG file I want to drag and drop the app into a folder on the sd-card; All files in that folder are installed) Can anybody do this? Its a challenge and if you succeed I promise I will thank you.
ALSO, I don't want somebody to redirect me to another thread or post unless it contains a relevent link. If you post a link that doesnt help me I won't thank you. Don't ask to be thanked. This isn't a thanks giveaway.
I'm not saying my thanks means a lot. But I will say thanks.

You act like your thanks are gold. You can sideload the app with ADB or install with CWM flashable zips, but I won't give you any links because you don't want them. And don't bother to thank me, I have plenty from folks who care.
Your poor little brother is the one you are hurting with this attitude.

OK, look. You get that I'm pissed. But that doesn't mean that I can't be sorry if I made myself sound more important than I am. I get that I'm only a junior member, but I do have some experience in hacking Barnes and Noble stuff. I'm also sorry about the rage PM I sent. I was mad aout other things that happened to me at the time and I was mad about that, because, like you, and everybody else, (well, mostly everybody) I have a life outside of this forum. Now I don't expect you to just be happy with a dozen apologies, so I don't expect you to just get crakin on the file now, because I made myself look like an idiot and you were right to point it out.

What about the idea of forming groups to give XDA members a heads-up on release?

Not sure if this is a good idea but you guy's can let me know.
1) Given that we have no idea when this phone will release and even if Google announces a date we would still not know exactly what time.
2) And the fact we may have a short window (15 minutes or so) for purchasing the phone before it goes out of stock.
Would you guy's like to join up in groups (say 5 people or so per group) exchange cell #'s through PM's and when the phone launches the first person in a group who notices texts the other members to give them a heads-up?
I would hate after waiting all this time to miss the launch by 15-30 minutes and get stuck waiting weeks for a restock.
I wrote a python application similar to this one of the Nexus 4 release:
pastebin.com/Ep1JSUTy
It will notify me if something seems to be available.

Yes. It was absolutely terrible. Google's servers were incredibly laggy and you had to be very lucky to get one. I managed to snag 2 of them, but one got held up for like a month.

I just did, though, there are rumours saying that something is wrong with, too lazy to dig in, but it does the job, flawlessly I must say.
Yes you can, but theres a lot discussion about kingo root

It will root your phone, but will collect and send a lot of data to China in order to do so.
Kingo claim that they no longer collect your IMEI, but say nothing about device ID/serial numbers etc that they have been caught sending unencrypted to their server before.
I do not trust them at all and the fact that their app is currently not allowed on XDA says a lot.
Edit - Also, the guy saying he is too lazy to find out what is wrong with the Kingo app is just the sort of person that creators of malware rely upon to both use and propagate their apps. Laziness is no excuse to use and recommend use of questionable software, ever.

Dude, you sound butthurt really, I did not recommend it in the very first place, I just said that it does the job, and in my case, flawlessly, I don't know about you, but for your kind information,, I have been using doomlord method since the good old x10 days, but recently it doesn't work, so, I have no choice but to resort to kingo, what other choice do I have left? Well maybe there is, but kingo happen to stumble upon me. I never did said that he should be doing the same, but since he was asking, and I happen to have gone through it, I just said it, I even said that they were kind of suspicious, but just wanna let you know, the way you reply doesn't help that much either.
Thanks, and have a nice day
I really don't care what you did to your phone, but suspicious software that is banned from this site is not 'flawless'.
I posted merely to make sure that anyone with any sense that viewed this thread knew of its suspicious nature and stayed away from it.
Finally, just because you are unable to follow the simple instructions for DooMLoRD's method for rooting 67, doesn't mean it doesn't work. It works just fine for me and thousands of others.

The final post in the thread is by gangsterjoop, a moderator, saying that the tool is not allowed.

I also miss the old days, when this place wasn't overrun by people that are unable to comprehend things properly before trying to score some sort of worthless victory over somebody that actually knows and double checks what they're talking about before they post.
Edit - I reported that thread as it appeared that links to Kingo had been left in the OP by mistake. The links have now been removed.
Hopefully this will stop the spread of it until they have stopped collecting data from their users.

Full functionality with the exception of S-Voice (though I have read others have been able to get it working - i'm not really interested in S-Voice just yet).
Notifications I had to manage without using Gear Manager (the latest Gear update added a HUGE notification update) using these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597260
You may have better luck getting gear manager to work on your S3. I had too many issues trying to get it to work and once I got notifications to work using the method above - stopped caring about Gear Manager.

You probably didn't think about it before you posted but this is a pretty insulting thread. Most of us paid $299 so either we're idiots or thought it was worth $299 when we bought it. This comes across more as you bragging about the "deal" you're getting than a real question meant to be answered.
Next gear is coming out soon..
I don't see it as insulting. You pay a premium for bleeding edge, we all know that.
