THIS DOES NOT WORK ON THE NEW ROM BASE! I WILL COME UP WITH AN ALTERNATE SOLUTION WHEN I HAVE TIME.
Hey guys, I've put my improving Java skills (thanks college!) to use and made a free app to help you with SIM unlocking your Sprint HTC One. I couldn't think of a good name, but I think the name is self-explanatory I made a post in the General and Q&A threads that involved SIM unlocking, but then I figured it would be best to make a dedicated thread for the app so that (hopefully) I'm not being asked for help with the unlocking process, but just for app issues/suggestions. This will allow your phone to use 3G (HSPA+) and 1900Mhz coverage areas on T-Mobile and AT&T. I'll just copy and paste from Google Play so you don't have to click on a link
Description
This is a simple ad-free application to aid in SIM Unlocking your Sprint HTC One. SIM Unlocking allows you to use any GSM SIM card in the phone, not just the one that comes with the phone. This allows you to save money with your choice of SIM if you're overseas or to unlock a Sprint HTC One for use with a US GSM carrier.
This app will ONLY work on the Sprint HTC One on a Sense ROM. If you're on a custom ROM, it might not have the HTC hidden menu this app opens for you. AOSP ROMs don't have that either. Please don't try this on any other devices, as the app checks the device it's installed on and will FAIL. Please also make sure you're rooted, the app checks for that as well.
Please don't rate 1 star if the app doesn't work for you, it worked for me 100%. Make sure you read everything here and then contact me, I will help you.

If this method (or similar) works for other One's on different carriers, please let me know and I will make this app compatible with more phones. If you want to try it but you don't know if this method works on your phone, contact me and we'll talk about a test version, but I will not be held liable if you brick your phone.
Please post if you have any issues with the app (you can email me a log from the Menu) or if you have any suggestions. For general SIM unlocking talk, this is not the place for it. Please visit the thread in General or the one in Q&A. Thanks and enjoy

and you told me you weren't interested in sim unlock... ;]

Okay excuse the noob questions but I just got the phone a couple weeks ago. So what your saying is that this is a Sprint phone that takes SIM cards and I can throw in a AT&T, T-Mobile or one of the off brand carrier's SIM cards and it will work? I'm assuming 3G only right? No 4G or HSPA+?

3G is HSPA+ on T-mobile and AT&T but yea you can use it in 1900 Mhz coverage areas on AT&T or T-mobile.

very simple
thanks :good:

Thanks for sharing viper
I'll add it to the FAQ Guide Q24

Thank you Viper!!!

For the super lazy, maybe add some code to start the app needed and select wcdma for us.
Awesome app as is though, thanks!

Yes I've been looking for a method to use my phone with tmobile thanks alot viperboy now I don't have to flash my phone to cricket that was my other option

if you start "TestAPIActivity" instead of "TestMainActivity", it takes you straight to the "API" menu, so people don't have to tap on "API".
it also might be a good idea to warn people to be careful not to tap on other things in the "API" menu.

I tried this with a coworkers Tmo sim and I could receive calls and texts directed to him, but it showed no signal and "emergency calls only". I had my phone unlocked via Sprint for international travel (which worked well), so I am not sure if this has anything to do with it not working.
There are also a couple of typos you might want to fix... "then scroll down AND tap" and "change Preferred Network Type FROM WCDMA Preferred to switch to GSM ONLY." Mine was actually set to CDMA + LTE/EvDo, but I don't think that matters much.

Sim unlock help
Hi ,
i followed the instructions as you have suggested, and I went to the dealer shop to try with another network ( mine was Sprint) but still it doesnt pick up the signal when i change to GSM mode, when i switch to CDMA the signal blinks .
Could you please help me or tell me what went wrong?

I got T-Mobile 15 minutes ago on WCDMA Preferred. Make sure you go to mobile network setting and register onto the respective GSM Network.

[FIX][APK][ZIP] DroidFroam - Manage data roaming ( force data roaming always ON )

DroidFroam
Version: 1.1
UPDATES:
- v1.1 (18/03/2013): Allow disabling data roaming
--------------
DroidFroam keeps data roaming always on.
It is a known problem from the Droid 3 that even if data roaming is set to enabled in settings, it will reset back to disabled after some time, showing the "data roaming is off" notification and you having to enable it again manually.
I'm using a small Spanish carrier that rents the network of another bigger carrier, so I'm on national roaming most of the time, and was sick of this problem. I had to re-enable data roaming maybe 30 times a day. So I made this little app to put an end to it!
How it works
The app listens to android.net.conn.CONNECTIVITY_CHANGE. If you are not on WiFi and the network is roaming, it will enable data roaming whenever there is a connectivity change. It also allows you to manually enable and disable data roaming, useful with Minimoto as there is no interface for doing this in that ROM.
How to install
The app needs the WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission, which is only available to system apps, so it needs to be installed as a system app.
If you have a rooted phone, the app will install itself as a system app on first launch (with your authorization of course). If not, you will have to install the zipped version via recovery (i.e. Safestrap), or you can copy it yourself with root explorer if you prefer.
I HAVE ONLY TESTED THE APP IN MY Droid 3 (XT862) WITH MINIMOTO 1.7. Let me know if it works for you!
This is my first android app so use under your own responsibility

hi.. it works on my micromax A110 (Canvas 2).
Query
I have a Motorola Atrix 2 model "EDISON" ME865 running stock Jellybean 4.1.2 with init.d support & rooted. I have read your disclaimers but can it cause serious harm of botching up my internet connectivity for good as it is a system app and mainly if it does cause issue is it possible to rollback to original settings simply by uninstalling the app?? I do have Nandroid but I do not want to do a restore for a small issue. Do reply as even I am fed up of this roaming settings issue. Thanks!

Be sure to leave the app with the "force data roaming" setting to "disabled" before uninstalling, just in case. But it should be OK with just uninstalling.
In any case I think it doesn't work in Jellybean, only Gingerbread, but give it a try and let me know!

Thanks for the reply and if you say it will roll back to original setting making sure to disable 'force data roaming' if uninstalled then it's ok but since you also mention it works only on GB I am afraid to experiment on JB. No offense but just being cautious. I will try to bump this to my phone developers too to see if they can work this in to JB. Thanks again.

Well according to @roshandes who just wrote a few posts before, it works in his Micromax A110 (Canvas 2). which comes with Jelly Bean, so it MIGHT work in Jelly Bean, just I have never personally tested it so I can't say first hand.

The canvas 2 is a ICS device and I was unsure if he updated to JB as it was not mentioned. I am tempted to give it a shot but am pensive that it should not screw up my internet connectivity or at least I should be able to revert to normal as before taking care of point mentioned by you while uninstalling. I will advise results when I go through the process. Is there something in particular that I can back up if I need to go back to original configuration?, Thanks!

Issue
I installed apk & gave it root access & to install as a system app and enabled force roaming but the tabs were non functional for enable roaming & disable roaming & now all of a sudden it wont open up and throws a message " com.cactilio.droidfroam has stopped. I cleared the setting in SuperSU and tried again but no luck. So supposedly since I was successful in enabling the 'force roaming' tab but the moment phone went in to roaming now the data got disabled and I went to normal system settings & enabled roaming and data works then. Now I cant even click the disable tab close 'force data roaming' before uninstalling as advised by you. Next steps??

Sorry i have been travelling and didn't have internet, just read this. You can just uninstall DroidFroam and restart your phone, it shouldn't mess with your data roaming settings anymore.
hello sir, can you please give me source code for enable data roaming?

can you please send the source code, or better, can you tell us if there is a specific file we can edit manually if we have root access to change that setting?
i want to enable data roaming, my phone doesnt have that option because sprint blocks that option unless i am activated on their network, but i am using a different carrier, so i cant get all the settings enabled. and i dont want fancy rom, so i am using a rooted stock rom since i know everything works (gps, wifi, bluetooth...etc)
so again, is there a way to either
A) force all configurations to be availing in the setting without sprint activation or prl update
B) change the enable disable of data roaming directly through editing a file

with the unlimited plan at tmobile, they give you a max of 3gb for tethering(unless you buy more). do you have root or are you stock?

if you have root, theres an app called wifi tether router that when you use, tmobile doesnt know that you are tethering. theres also a system mod that changes some files thatll keep tmobile away as well.

then there is a thread here about editing some system file that will help you out. i dont know where it is, so youll have to search(its probably within 4 pages of the n6 general/q&a sections.
That thread was for Verizon. I got it tho. Added "dun" to APN type and I'm good.

Nope turns out you have to modify the build prop as well. I took that last line out and rebooted and I lost tether again. Added it back just now and I got tether back.
So add dun in the APN type and add the no provisioning line to the end off the build prop.

Thanks, Hopefully I can get this to work on my Nexus 6 for T-Mobile.
1a. Use a VPN on connected devices. 1b. Search xda for an app called dnsqache, and follow the github readme on how to set it up, I will warn you though that your MMS messages might not transmit if you do not have dns2 set as what you get when you run the terminal command "getprop net.dns2" and use a browser with a user agent switcher set to your browser except showing a Linux OS
I've added the net.provision whatever and added ,dun to APN type. Running euphoria and my tethering is working fine
Most important is the build.prop change and adding ,dun to APN type. Then you shouldn't have any problems
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
So I'm currently having issues trying to enable Wifi tether as well.
I added net.tethering.noprovisioning
And added ,dun to the APN
Im on T mobile and have unlimited data. Rooted and running cyanogenmod on the nexus . Any ideas on what I did wrong?

I was able to work around the issue by modifying the following sqlite database (you'll need root):
/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
You need to add a new entry to the global table called "tether_dun_required" with a value of 0.
It looks like you need to do this because some configuration data was added to Android for T-mobile that forwards tethered data to this APN: pcweb.tmobile.com
T-mobile is probably checking to see if your account has tethering enabled when you go through this APN.
After I made this change I also needed to change my APN settings so that it uses ipv4 instead of ipv6. It seems like tethering with ipv6 does not work 100% yet.

I also added " ,dun " to the end of my APN type in the APN settings. No issues so far.

Unlimited hotspot tethering on sprint samsung galaxy s7

A alternate way of unlocking your hotspot on your galaxys7 without the need of root:good:
You are going to need the MSL code for you phone
Which can be obtained by calling customer service and asking them (this is the way i did it) or just go to you nearest sprint shop and ask them for the code.
(If they ask why you want the code, just say its for your personal info or interest)
Once you have your code, go to your phone dialer and dial the following: ##3282#
Than you will prompted to write your MSL code
After typing your code, you will be presented to a menu, on that menu you are going to search for "APN SETTINGS" than you are going to search for APN2 EHRPD Internet APN2 LTE internet, and on both you are going to search for the following: "default, mms"
And once you found the "default, mms", you are going to edit it to : default, mms, dun (just add: ",dun" at the end).
Once you have finished editing, just reboot your phone
And you just unlocked unlimited hotspot and tethering

Really thats wierd , because yesterday i called customer service for my msl, and than i proceeded to unlock the hotspot without no problem.
Also before i did recieve my msl code, i did try to unlock the hotspot feature just using SHORTCUT MASTER, but couldn't becuase it was grayedout and unable to be interactive.
But when i tryed using the methods that sprint technicians use (the msl code method) i was able to unlock the feature.

Well **** didn't know that. What version are you running with U firmware
PG1 ..most recent
Shortcutmaster is easy, just type "Apn" in th he search engine, than look in the options that it provides you, tap on the apn option that end in the word settings ( ex. Apn................settings). And than you will be prompted to press " launch" (it a menu bar that says: launch, home, ect.) After that its the same procedure as if using a msl code
The only down fall to this, is that you need root for it to work ( to ungray the options need to fix). The things needed to unlock the apn's grayed.
But if it works for you without encountering any problems just share the info with others
Even the msl code method is showing up to some people grayed.
I tryed using both method on my fathers s7, and i encounterd this issue.
My guess is that it has to be with something with the build or serial number or some thing distinguish them from each other. Cuz for some it both methods work, but for others they need root to acomplish this.

Yo its true what you where saying about the apns being grayed out.
My guess is that its not in all samsung s7.
That's apparently sprint catching wind and doing something. Glad I don't take updates with new phones like that

TMobile visual voicemail

Not sure if it was my imagination or not, but when I was first setting up the phone (tmo version) I noticed two visual voicemail apps open. Has this device got it's own visual voicemail?

Not your imagination, I had it also, that's until I reset my phone and then I lost the native visual voicemail accessible from the phone dialer.

Mine disappeared after a reset. The button now just dials the voicemail number.
Also, you might want to test that your voicemails will show up there, because mine never did.

It does show up for me. I actually deleted 3 before I took that screenshot. Some people also had that problem with the S8/S8+ but it works on my S8+ too

What is the verdict here? I have the T-Mobile Note 8 and when I use the dialer to access voicemail it just calls. When I go into settings there is a greyed out "Voicemail Settings" that I cannot access. All I'm looking for is integrated Visual Voicemail, I never liked having another app.
This is getting really weird. I deleted T Mobile visual voicemail but now I don't have any visual voicemail lol

I am in the same boat. Super frustrating. I'm on the phone with T-Mobile now and they have a Samsung Representative on the line. Waiting to see if they can give me any info. I'm going to try hard resetting the phone if they can't come up with a solution and just never set up T-Mobile VVM.
Edit* T-Mobile and Samsung were obviously no help whatsoever. I spent 30 minutes on the phone and they transferred me without asking to a "Samsung Support Specialist" who told me they transferred me to him for "further clarification on the issue" all he told me was "Samsung has nothing to do with voicemail that's a carrier issue" Thanks for wasting my time. So tired of this carrier specific BS.

Sorry to hear about that. Frustrating to say the least.
I'm trying to remember how I setup my Note 8 and wife's initially. As I don't think she had that dual visual voicemail notifications like I did.
Memory is vague, but one of devices was setup with no sim card present during initial setup screens.

Just an observation, could it be possible that the T Mobile version like ours has the visual voicemail baked in?
Just took another look and posted the following. It doesn't show my old stored voicemail messages. screenshot.

Ok well I had a reddit post as well and I've gotten a little closer but still have not figured it out.
"The following only works with Nova Launcher"
What a user recommend I do is press and hold on the home screen -> add a widget -> under Nova Launcher go to activities -> drag and drop activities on the home screen -> then search for visual voicemail at the bottom.
Now I have a shortcut on the home screen to the baked in Visual Voice Mail (I currently do not have the T-Mobile one installed and I just performed a hard reset) the issue is now when I go to settings in the integrated VVM is there is an option to enable VVM and it says "Select a Line" and there is no number to select. I'll upload the photos.

I replied to another user right below yours. It does appear it's baked in. There's a way with Nova Launcher to create a shortcut for it. My issue is I still cannot get it working.

You also have to enable multi Line settings on the phone, that will get it working.

I actually figured it out Saturday night but thanks. The trick was to enable digits via the web and select the unlock option for my line. Then I was able to get the multi line option working. After setting it up, I was able to sign out of multi line and still receive native vvm. (I signed out due to it showing multi line options everywhere.)
So to everyone who hates seeing multi line options everywhere, you can sign out after setup. What really bugged me about it was in messages with my wife, it listed her device model which took up a line for each message in our thread. Signing out of multi line fixed it for me.

Dialer codes not working

I have an unbranded (unlocked) Note 8 straight from Samsung. None of the dialer/hidden codes work. Any idea how to enable them?
What have you tried? I have the same and they work. There's no setting to enable/disable
I don't know what to try to be honest. They just don't work. I've tried the usual ones *#1234#, *#*#4636#*#* etc. None work, the phone just does nothing.
You can use a shortcuts app to do the hidden codes. A bunch of them work. I accidentally enabled some stupid on-screen display thing so when I do power off it displays some messages that tell me it is sending a shutdown command. Now I can't remember which one it was to turn that thing off....

That has a similar setting, this time the culprit was me changing the build.prop to say my device type was userdebug instead of just user. Changed it back and voila, no more shutdown text!
Still not working for me. I even did a factory reset and tried the dialer codes before even inserting a SIM card (thought Verizon provisioning played a trick on my unbranded N8). Any idea why they aren't working?
What are these codes for, again?

hidden menus for adjusting or testing various settings, as far as i can tell.
These work (unlocked note 8)
*#011# service mode
*#9090# diagnostic information
*#0*# hardware diagnostic
*#7353# quick test menu
This is not exhaustive, just me trying stuff out.

This is exactly why I as well as others are questioning why there aren't carrier specific forums for the Note 8 as there have been for every other note. There is too much confusion when we're all on the same forum to solve these problems. You have people posting how to do this or that but it doesn't work for every model/carrier.
You have to go to
/efs/carrier/HiddenMenu
And change the setting from off to on... but root is needed.

When I try to use the phone info app to use secret codes I get a whole bunch of errors and can't access any of the secret codes any help would be appreciated
Try entering them manually in dialer. *#77467# takes me to ims settings. On Tmobile. Other carriers lock theres so root is needed.

This is a struggle ive been working with since switching to Vzw. I did the same thing. I started the phone without a SIM and the dialer codes work. Once I put the SIM in, the phone said it needed to restart to apply carrier settings. Once it restarted, the dialer codes no longer worked. Samsung must have special coding to lock this down once a Vzw SIM is inserted.
