(Updated 3/sept)*****solved!***** CAMERA SAVE TO SD CARD WITH GOOGLE EDITION ROMS!!!! - Galaxy S 4 i9505G Android Development

Updated XposedInstaller 3/sept
As you all want to save your photos/videos to your external card (like I wanted), I give you my solution for this problem.
The solution is based on these two threads:
- Pictures2SD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2408880
- XposedFramework: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Thanks to davisNT and rovo89
After some research here is my short method to make your Google Edition saving photos/videos to external card:
1. I attached two files, you have to download them to your phone
2. Install de.robv.android.xposed.installer_v18_e88d8b.apk
3. Launch the Xposed Installer, give it root, and click on "Install/Update"
4. Reboot your phone
5. Install Pictures2SD_102.apk
6. Launch Xposed Installer, go to the modules page and select the checkbox for Picture2SD
7. Reboot and it's done
I hope I don't forget anything, and I'm sure you can do it yourself if I missed something.

I get the following when trying to open "Modules" cannot read/data/xposed/modules.whitelist
Get the same error when installing Pictures2SD

Did you installed Xposed properly inside the installer? (the big button at the center with long text...)

Not sure why, but my phone will not boot after the install. I installed per directions and did use the large button. I rebooted and it is now not getting past the Google screen. I will wipe phone and try again. Anybody else tried this out yet?
I am sure I did something wrong, not sure what it is.
Wait a minute, it finally rebooted after 5 tries. I will see what happens now.
Nope, still has same error and will not load P2SD

Thanks for sharing. However this is not your work, so I think in your OP you should give credit to the people that created Pictures2SD and Xposed Framework.

I didn't say it is my work. I created this thread with my own words without copying anything, because a lot of people wrote in Galaxy S4 sections that Google Edition ROMs haven't got this function and cannot be solved. I also needed this, and made a research, and it was not fast. And because those threads you mentioned are far from the Galaxy S4 sections, and not completely understandable seperately for almost everybody, I finalized and simplified here as the real solution. Cheers!

Your still going to have to credit the work your posting that someone else created and developed. Please update your OP.
You need to credit davisNT and rovo89 they Developed the work your linking.
We appreciate your efforts in finding a way to get pics to SD.
Thank you

CM10.2 latest nightly.

Uninstall the XposeInstaller I attached first. Try the updated installer (de.robv.android.xposed.installer_v18_e88d8b.apk) from the first post!

I just edited the system folder to add media r/w permissions and it works that way. Thanks for taking the time to work on this. It is easier than editing the system folder (and probably safer), but I have done the edit and will just use it that way.

everything went smooth
open up camera app and its asking me to install an SD card into phone before using camera.... i have a 64Gb card...
formatted SD card as well.. still no change

Anyone solved this challenge for CM10.2?
Would love to use CM10.2 for a while but the lack of pic to SD makes that a bigger pain than it should be.

Speeding "boot up"

My boot up and shut down are extremal slow. I know this handles like a computer and these things can effect its performance. I would like to know what can be done to speed up these boots. I am also not to aware of what should and should not be removed from the sdcard. I've attached a snip of my sdcard, how do I know what is junk and what is not?
Thanks, Tomween1

First, as you probably already know, every phone is built differently and so things like that can vary.
My guess is that there's probably too much unwanted file on your phone, which have probably just been stacking from flash to flash. There's a app for that but I can't remember the name (sorry ) - perhaps you can look it up.
Other thing, if you have been flashing over and over:
1. Attend some flashocolic meeting
2. a full clear would probably clear up alot of stuff.
If you go for a masterclear (Odin) and re-install your ROM, don't forget to backup your file with Titanium Backup + pictures and put your contacts on your sim card (copy the file from your phone to your comp). -Just a little reminder.

Try deleting any apps that you don't use, and also try an app called "SD Maid". I got it from the apps section, but it may be in the market now. It searches for leftovers of stuff you've deleted. Cause sometimes things leave traces of themselves behind after a delete. Should free up some room.
Also, theres an app called "Autostarts" which lets you select what apps actually start on the boot up, which should also speed it up if you disable some.

U could try disabling the media scanner service if u have lots of media loaded, and run it manually when u need it.

[TOOL] 1Click_CWR

I have made a small utility that will install CWR on the LG thrill. Untested on the optimus 3D....
Thanks to designgears for outlining the original procedure in this tread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257588
WARNING:
Your warranty is now void.
I take no responsibility for bricked, dead, or unresponsive phones. If you are uncomfortable using this tool, then DON'T. Furthermore, I created this utility for my phone, and decided to share it with the community.
This utility was coded in c# in a windows 7 environment. I can only speak to this working on windows 7. If it works on XP, great; but I only tested it on my windows 7 system. Confirmed working in XP by: gentzleon
Before you begin:
Phone must be rooted!!! Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251663
Must have an SD card in the phone.(This is used for the storage of the recovery backup)
Drivers MUST be installed! ( Direct Link: Here)
Instructions:
1). Plug phone into computer via USB cable.
2). Turn on USB Debugging mode
3). Launch 1click_CRW with admin privilages (right click->run as Administrator)
4). Enjoy
Notice
Because people have different computer speeds and the fact I wrote this in 10 minutes, there is a pause between each command. Just click 'ok' when the popup messages says waiting.....Its fool proof.
ALSO: I did not put any error checking in it because I did not feel the need. I created this for fun and decided to share it.
If you see an error from ADB like no devices found, make sure your drivers are installed and restart the computer.

This installed cwr just fine but when i try to make a backup or install a new rom it says error cannot mount sd card does anyone know y this would happen
Freaking sweet. I was hoping to find something easier to do this with that having to go through the other method to flash GB Roms. That is what this is for right?
All those having problems installing, make sure all your permissions to /data are checked-(all 9) if not you will not be able to install recovery...
To set permissions you must;
Have root explorer or the free app ES file explorer.
---Navigate to /data and press and hold
---Select properties
---you will see at the bottome where it says permissions an option to change
--- Select change and make sure all are checked.,
---click out, reboot phone and it should all work..
There have been instances where the folder will change back permissions or not save the new permissions so just perform it again... Enjoy the 1 click CWM Now If this could be included in the script it will make it fool proof.....

I think I may change this app and create it in a windows form...I will have a button that follows the same procedure as it does now, and a second button to fix permissions..However, should I have it apply the permission change to the entire /data? Seems unsafe to me, but I'm paranoid.
Also, work has been long, and my wife and I are in the final process of buying a new house. So that is why I haven't been on much.
Figured it out thanks for this tool

Issue with app's ?

Hi.
I have issues here.
I would install market and Astro filemanager.
But I got info that they already was installed.
I cannot see them in the Application->Manage applications
It tells me, that " you don't have any third party apps installed".
I had the idea, that the GT540 is rooted, but obvciously not, as I cannot install apk's using the adb command.
Beside this, I also have this:
process com.android.vending issue.
What can I do?

You've missed the forum, this should be in General or Themes and Apps forum.
You haven't stated what ROM are you using.
Are you trying to install Astro via Play Store or from apk on sd card?
com.android.vending is a Google Play Store app, has it updated itself or is still Market?

It's an LG GT540 I use.
Iwould install it from apk on SD card, but due to a reason I don't know, I cannot get adb to work.
It tells me, that device not found.
I have formatted the SD card with FAT32, and now I cannot see the system path.

[Q] Can someone please help me?

Xposed Framework will not install on my Straighttalk Samsung Centura for nothing. I tried installing different versions of Xposed Installer and that didn't help. Yes, I'm rooted. I use other root apps with no problem. I use Superuser. It works fine. Ok, so when I press Install/Update on Xposed Installer I giver it Superuser permissions and it says Install/Update with the little circle going around. It stayed like that all night. What am I doing wrong? I started thinking and I even changed /system permissions to r/w with File Explorer because my installation mode is Classical(write to /system directly) and thag didn't either. Does Xposed Installer use any data because I'm currently throttled and my 3G speeds are so slow. So I was wondering when you press Install/Update does Xposed Installer download something or no? Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong here?
Have you tried a different installation method? Also, can you post a logcat when the circle keeps on spinning?
Only the "Downloads" section uses the Internet.

Any of the recovery methods. One is automatic, the other manual - pick whatever you want.
A logcat of the classical installation method will be useful if you want to see it fixed (if possible), so you probably want to do that first if you care.

The thing is if dev say clean flash(wipe data, system, cache, dalvik) is a must before installing a rom, etc. Then will this adk solution can be used instead of titanium backup?Because you wrote that adk more efficient than tb maybe I'll use this instead of tb

All you really need to understand are the setup steps. This module prevents app data from being deleted when you use TWRP's "wipe data/factory reset feature".
This sounds too good to be true, lol almost like a proof of concept. Can just binding the new dir with the old make it so there are no issues whatsoever? Will test later this week cause I romhop a lot.
My phone's storage is almost full. The thing i want to ask is if this procedure will need more data space inside /data/media.

No extra space is taken, as data is moved, not copied.
I installed this and it erased all my app data, ironically enough. Make sure you have a backup before installing.
After typing "adk" it finds all the apps, but after typing "." it lists every app with "pm: not found". After a reboot, the apps are not installed. Am I doing something wrong?

Lmao same thing happened to me. Figured the module was buggy and uninstalled it. Maybe i did something wrong too, which im not sure how considering how easy the install instructions are

I installed this and it erased all my app data, ironically enough. Make sure you have a backup before installing.

That's really f**ked up... same to me. I think there was no error on my side while following the "install-reboot-forget" process. Only the lib folders had been moved/binded somehow to the SD folder, no base.apks and no odex-blobs(?).
The result was a totally broken system. Sorry, but IMHO the Dev should not proclaim it that way as long as the script seems to be in pre-alpha ... All log files in /data/media/adk/logs/ are empty, too!
Really don't know whether LMAO or :crying:

Please add an alpha into the title. Same happens to me.... and titanium can't restore accounts anymore...
The XDA link in the module description takes you to the forum section rather than this thread.
Seemed interesting and installed
But I lose all app data ,
found no logs and nothing just like fresh install of everything
Keep a backup before trying this
I was on magisk 16.7 ,
Redmi note 3 AEX N
Do not install! I lost everything like everyone else. Pictures I just took on vacation of my kids gone. All texts gone. All app data gone. Wtf man. This needs to be pulled. I lost 3gig of data

Never ever try magisk stuff without nandroid or other backup in backhand.
I, like everyone else posting here, fell for this extension and lost all my app data.
I'm not sure if this extension is buggy or if we are simply too stupid to get it running but here is what I did:
install
reboot
forget (about all my app data as all apps seem to have lost their data)
I then opened a terminal, typed adk as instructed and am getting:
permission denied. Can't create /data/media/adk/logs/res_apks_verbose_log.txt: permission denied
typing su before adk does indeed give me a list of apps which seems to get longer every few minutes.
Maybe its still busy copying? I'll give it some more time. Not sure what's up though, are we supposed to wait for the ap to copy all app data over then do an initial restore? Or is it not correctly "linking" the apps to the new app data storage?
###edit###
I did not immediately remove this extension as I thought to give it some time. I then rebooted and its now hanging at the boot screen saying: "Starting up ... please wait" - this section usually only takes a few seconds but I've been staring at this screen for minutes now. I'll give it 30 minutes, maybe it is still busy copying all my APKs and app data to the SD card? I mean I was already wondering how this can only need one simple reboot to be ready...
I'll update this thread if I have any new findings as the extension description sounds quite logical so maybe we're all doing something wrong
Dev RECOMMENDED app data backup in first step even BEFORE INSTALLING it through magisk or twrp.
I think nobody is doing it

you're right he did. I didn't say I don't have a backup I only said the extension isn't behaving as advertised OR I don't get how to use it.
Also, he should change that sentence from "recommended" to mandatory if his app wipes app data

I have disabled the extension and rolled back my backup. I'm still wondering what went wrong here as the extension actually created the right folders on my SD card. Somehow the links seem to have been missing. I didn't dare try a restore via "adk ." as it was unclear what else could have gone wrong.
I would however appreciate some feedback and clarification from the author.
